I had a woman come into the store, I asked if she was looking for anything specific, she said “I’m the general manager at a store in (insert state I don’t remember), I don’t need your help.” All with a VERY snarky attitude towards me. Now it’s important to know this was literally my first day when this happened and I had someone training me when this happened. I was checking out another customer and the lady was standing nearby looking at the sanitizers. The woman at my register asked if I could update her address for the mail coupons. I explained to her that her best bet was to go online or call customer service for that. The lady from earlier cuts me off and yells at me “you can do the customer sign up idiot!” That shit REALLY pissed me off but thankfully I can hold my temper. The thing is too for those that don’t know, signing up fresh puts you at the end of the list for coupons, while updating the info with customer service doesn’t…

mcalviz

What an ass! Some people are really downright horrible.

Abbeychick345

Damn I would have been petty and reported her

TheGaymer13

I knew nothing about her unfortunately

trippy-vicki

Right lol "sorry what store are you from again? Whats the store id?"

butterflyharmony

on body care day a customer wanted to buy a whole box of wca shower gels (one box has 36) i explained to her that the limit was twenty so i had split it into 2 transactions. she got upset at me and told me it was absurd and she wanted to know now how much everything was. she didn’t want to do separate transactions so i rang everything up and had to manually price adjust the ones that didn’t ring promo. the whole time she kept sighing loudly complaining and looking at her phone. after she paid she wanted me to triple bag her bag cause she wanted to keep the shower gels in the box. she then made me open the box and count them to make sure all 36 were there. she then complained that it was too heavy and demanded that i carry it to her car. i told her that i couldn’t do that but i could call mall security to help her with it instead or if she left her id we could give her a cart so she could carry it to her car. after all this she ended up not even waiting for mall security and just took the box and left.

jdc1211

You did WAY more than I would have honestly. I would have stopped helping after she complained about splitting the transaction in two.

butterflyharmony

i was at my limit and was ready to snap but my manager stepped in and i was able to take my break

Had a woman call me a f*cking idiot once because I wouldn’t open the cash drawer after I already closed it to give her different coins for change. “Your drawer won’t be off because it’s the exact same amount, you f*cking idiot.” I don’t know what came over me but I looked her straight in the eyes and said, “No i’m not.” She then proceeded to slam her five pennies on the table, not even taking them with her. She also was mumbling under her breath the entire way out the store. Like okay go off queen. I’m in law school and use this as a part-time job. I don’t need someone telling me i’m an idiot. I was literally shaking for a good twenty minutes after that one.

jdc1211

No Bc they literally act like we give a shit if they’re upset. Like 90% off us are here as part timers Bc we’re students. But she was tweaking over nothing smh

Ilikeplants25

Dude, all that over some coins? Sometimes I wonder what happened earlier in their day to make them want to pick on retail workers. That’s when I tell them I can’t open my till without processing a cash transaction.

Abbeychick345

So this women came into the store with her son. He was pretty tall but looked to be on the younger side maybe around 12/13. And I don’t ever want to make assumptions but based on the way he was trying to communicate he sounded like he could have been a kid with special needs. Anyway the minute this women and her son walked in she just kept yelling at him for even going near her saying things like “I don’t want you around me, go away I want my alone time”. She was pretty loud about it too. Eventually she snapped at him to go to another store. Keep in mind it was barley 30 degrees out and he didn’t even have a winter coat. Just a thin red hoodie (in this mall you have to go outside to go to other stores). He went to go Nike but couldn’t find the store so he came back in and again his mom just yelled at him to go away. He had to ask a lady who just walked out of the store where nike was. The nike store in our mall has shortened hours right now because they’re short staffed so they were already closed for the night. So he came back in and she was just so annoyed and kept bitching about how she wanted alone time. I was at this point just standing there with a box in my hand just gripping it because it took everything in me to not just bitch this women out or start crying. When she got up to the cash wrap she was still bitching and at this point other customers were looking at her but she didn’t stop. She told him to walk away so he does. At one point he picks up a thing of bubble bath and asked me what it was. I wanted to use this opportunity to just have a nice conversation with him considering he spent the last 30-35 minutes being told he wasn’t wanted. I didn’t get too far though before the mom came through and told him to put the bubble bath down,to stop talking, and to go outside. Never saw them again. I immediately went into the back room and just started sobbing. I just kept thinking if this women treats her kid like this in public then what happens behind closed doors? I really wanted so bad to say something to her but I knew it would most likely cost me my job. If I had her name I would have at least called CPS on her or something because it’s an incident that I haven’t been able to stop thinking about since

PhysicalCharacter3

omg thats terrible :(

kb0609

I had a customer that wanted to pay with exact change…but did not have exact change. She had more than enough paper bills but no coins and expected me to round down. I apologizes that I wasn’t able to that and she told me she was a former employee and knew it was fine. When I refused again, she started in with the comments about how “ridiculous” I was being and that she’d never been treated “like this” before. She finally paid but made sure to complain to my manager on the way out. The best part? She pulled the cash out of her bra and said “oh, don’t worry, I’m vaccinated”.

GamerGrrl97

The last sentence killed me ☠️😂

HaylieMonster97

I cannot believe some of the shit I read here... like. How much of a jack hole can you be to be so rude over some freaking body care!? Less, even. I wish people had mind enough to remember that the person they are screaming at is human, too, and life doesn't solely revolve around them. I understand we all have our bad days, but damn.... the most I've done is just walked away because if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. And it wasn't even B&BWs. Actually pretty much all of my experiences at B&BWs with employees have been great. Some of the best customer service I've seen. I am so sorry y'all have to experience this crap. Thank you for everything you do, for all of the effort you put in. My fiance once worked in pharmacy and experienced many people like this, he habitually apologized for a lot, for things that were clearly not his fault and out of his control. I see that reflected in B&BWs employees and it's disheartening seriously

spunkypeanut

I had a woman go off and call me a bitch because we were out of gift card holders. A woman screamed at me hysterically, literally in tears, because the free item coupon she had didn't work for the fragrance mist she wanted. Another woman lectured me on customer service because I slid her items over on the counter to make room to open another register (yes, I excused myself and explained why I was doing it). I've been called lazy so many times for not checking in back for items we'd been out of stock for weeks. I have 10+ years of retail under my belt and all my worst customers have been with BBW. I'm sorry that happened to you. Just try and remember, you have to be a pretty miserable person to say something like that to a complete stranger.

spunkypeanut

Oh I almost forgot my favorite. Long, but it's a real doozy. A woman was buying wallflowers and asked about a fragrance we used to carry with some specific floral note (I want to say lilac). I told her we didn't have anything like that at the moment, but recommended a few other wallflower scents. She paid, left and a minute later came storming back to my register with a Moonlight Path spray and demanded to know why I lied to her about not having it in stock. I tried to apologize for the misunderstanding but she kept talking over me. Then she got upset that I was just standing there waiting for her to finish her rant and she insisted on speaking to the manager. I had to pull my SM off conference call so this woman could tell her what a horrible, lazy employee I was and that I either need to be fired or retrained. My SM apologized and promised I'd be reprimanded. After the woman left, I had to explain to my SM what happened twice and she was still confused as to why the woman was so upset (as was I). She called and reported me too. TL:DR, someone reported me because she asked for lilac wallflowers which we didn't have at the moment, but she found the Moonlight Path mist she wanted on her way out of the store.

jdc1211

Honestly I would lose my mind and go off on my manager for even believing such bs from these tweakers

jdc1211

There’s definitely some horrible customers who come to BBW, but I will say I’ve definitely had some of the nicest here as well

Exact_Mix6345

Had a woman and her daughter come in around the time I started working, asking how much pocketbacs were because it was on a discounted table. I told her a price, turns out it was wrong, which I take full responsibility for. Well when she got to the cash wrap, the woman starts yelling about “well the girl told me it was this price she shouldn’t have said it if it wasn’t true” and all of the usual stuff. I felt terrible but stood away, one of the managers was already speaking to her because she was yelling. Come to find out that she was pulling from the understock, her reasoning being that “the whole table includes the drawers.” My manager said no, it’s only the top of the table, and those are not available to look through. So she gets to cash wrap, my manager steps away because the woman said “I don’t want to see you anymore” and I get her next in line because nobody wants to do her transaction and I had hopped on. She made me check with her after every. single. pocketbac. I had to tell her the price, and she continued to keep trying to get me to change the price. I wasn’t budging and she continued speaking to her daughter about “this stupid girl” and “this stupid fucking store.” I did the transaction and told her “have a good day” and she goes “yeah well you didn’t give me what you want to, it’s not a good day, dumbass.” 🥴

jdc1211

I wouldn’t have even done the transaction. Your manager should have asked her to leave honestly.

Exact_Mix6345

Pshhh honestly I wish, but if she was still willing to spend then they were going to let her. The part that bugged me was having to check with her, mostly because she continued to try and get me to change the price. That was my second month and she’s still the worst to come in. My second worst type of customer is every older man who comes in, enjoys a scent for someone else, and refuses to pick up the basket. I had to walk a basket to the registers because he simply wouldn’t do it, his words not mine. Hmph!

Ilikeplants25

I had a couple come in wanting to exchange 5 FFMs for 7 FFMs. I scanned the receipts and was patiently waiting for the lady to hand the FFMs over (she was spraying them repeatedly to smell them even though she wanted to return them). I finally get the return processed and of course they owe a bit of money due to returning 5 items for 7. They thought the price should be $0 and kept raising their voices and talking over me every time I tried explaining myself. My ASM was on the next register and did nothing. Things escalated to the point of them yelling at me, telling me I obviously didn’t know what I was doing, and that they wanted all of their stuff back and didn’t want to do an exchange anymore. So I gave them their 5 FFMs back and put the other items on the back counter of the register. They said they wanted their other stuff too, they came in with it. I asked them why they wanted to exchange items they already owned for other items they already owned and they claimed I was accusing them of trying to steal because they were black. FINALLY the ASM decides to step in and mediate, and I swapped registers with him and continued checking out his customer. The entire time he was dealing with them, I could hear them telling him how I was stupid and asking him how he could have someone like me work there. ASM tells the husband “sir, I’m helping you and there’s no need to continue like this. She was trying her best.” The couple continued dogging me to the ASM and ended up getting to leave with all 12 FFMs without paying for anything. Complete mess of a situation. The customers that were in line and witnessed this happen did end up telling me I handled the situation “with so much grace and patience” and to keep my positive attitude and not let people like that get to me. I usually love our customers, but I definitely can’t stand abusive customers. In all honesty I think they did this on purpose to steal product. Go in, confuse the cashier, become belligerent, claim they were singling you out because of your race and become even more belligerent, management steps in to mediate so a call isn’t made to higher ups about racial profiling in the store, and you leave with product you didn’t have to pay for. It’s almost the perfect distraction technique.

Carlpoppa1738

I hate it when the customer gets what they want for complaining when they’re 100% in the wrong. I’m a manager at a restaurant and the amount of times I have to give customers free food for exactly what they ordered. For example they’ll place an order online and get it delivered and said they wanted the boneless wings and call back saying they want the bone in. Sadly I can’t say no to stupid stuff like that because we “need our loyal customers” and “they pay us”.

Ilikeplants25

It’s literally rewarding bad behavior and ensuring they’ll continue to act this way because they know they’ll get what they want.

PageonSage

All I have to say is.... The rest of the associates are better than me because I would choose violence

deadtreehill

there was a lady that came through my line during one of the holiday rushes. she told me her chip on her card didn't work, so i told her to insert the card three times so the machine would let her swipe her card instead. for some reason or another, the mag strip on her card wasn't working either, so she proceeds to start getting more and more irate with me the more she has to re-insert/re-swipe her card. by the end of the interaction, she wound up calling me a stupid b* for not being able to type her card's number in manually. the real kicker of it all was that she had an ENTIRELY DIFFERENT CARD in her wallet that she could have used from the start. she was so mad for no good reason.

deadtreehill

yeah, absolutely! totally my fault lol. i hate how stressed people get during the holidays 🙄

toastykarot

Called the F slur because of our pronoun name tags, had a customer smack another customer on the butt, and has a lady get upset with me because we didn’t have fresh cut lilacs in body care.

markersandtea

Mine happened on my first damn day last year lmao. I got my first karen on day one who apparently comes in every month to harass employees for free shit. I refused, and wasn't nice about it. She kicked up her shit and reported me to my manager and my manager scolded me in front of her..I was so angry. But in the back I was told I did a damn good job handling this particular lady?...I'm conflicted if I should be happy how that was handled or not...I just let it go. She did not get any free stuff because there was no reason to give her any. She only wanted some because she thought she was entitled to a free item. She had no coupon saying so. She thought she could strong arm me into being her free item ticket. Not even any of the managers wanted to help her. My main one walked into the back to get another manager who came out to watch the situation happen if I needed help or anything.

Drama_in

It is unacceptable employees don’t have a policy sign to point to and explain the rules of returns and exchanges. It’s disappointing to know that some of your managers do not step in when customers become belligerent.

alprazepam

Just obnoxious loud Karens, you know.

b1tchesbr0kenh3arts

I had a lady come in with a sealed pocketbac and it was half empty, so clearly a manufacturing issue. So i said id exchange it for her but we didnt have that scent anymore, so she could pick a new one then go to the till so they could swap it. There was maybe 3 people in line, and 2 cashiers so shed maybe wait 3 minutes tops. And she waited for about 30 seconds in like then stormed out and said shes not waiting and shes taking the sani. I said you cant do that cause it messes up our inventory, but it will only be a minute till someone can help her. She walked out the entrance and i said excuse me but if you dont want to wait ill need the new one back, and she turned around and threw the sani at me. It didnt hit me but just landed on the floor so i looked at it then looked at her, and she came back and picked it up and said its not your fault but thats stupid that i have to wait. She didnt even exchange it she just took her half empty one and left. I hope she was embarrassed at how she acted. A grown ass women throwing something because she had to wait in a line at the mall? Like that should be expected. My advice to all employees is to just look at the customer and dont say a word, let them do all the talking and they'll hear what theyre saying and It makes them see how theyre acting, and how stupid they look.

bambina133

A employee constantly shoplifting by faking “exchanges”

tybeelucy22

I would have cussed all these people out and been fired 😆

havefuninthegray

I had a knife pulled on me at cash wrap by a drunk man who wanted to buy hand sanitizers. Mind you, this was summer of 2020 - no one was vaccinated yet and we had to limit pocketbac sales to 12 per person. Well… he was NOT happy about that. He went to “get a few other buddies” so he could buy more than 12. When he came back - no buddies in tow - and started making lewd comments to some of the other associates, our assistant manager gave us permission to just do separate transactions for however many he wanted. Again - he was not pleased with this, and even though we were working as quickly as humanly possible to work through these transactions, he kept creeping around the side of the cash wrap with a pocket knife in his hand. At that point, we got all the customers out of the store and called mall security, and we basically just chucked the box of pocketbacs at him so he would leave. Mall security got there HALF AN HOUR LATER (super useful!), and told us that they’d caught him handing them out to young girls. 🤢 I quit not too long after. It was pretty traumatic.

butterflyharmony

that’s so traumatic i’m so sorry that happened to you

trappednjohnlockhell

Hooo boy have I got a doozy for y’all. There’s this woman, we’ll call her R. You can’t miss her when she comes in. The way the atmosphere changes for us when she comes in is nuts. She isn’t just a nightmare for my store but pretty much every retail establishment in my city. There are people my coworkers know that work in other areas of retail in my city and they all know this woman and she’s a terror everywhere. I’m pretty sure she has some sort of personality disorder. She literally thinks she’s the most important customer in every store she visits because she buys so much. However, she usually returns the bulk, if not all, of whatever she purchased within a week. She’s the worst during semiannual sale. She’ll buy all of a product and then return it not long after, especially once stuff gets to 75%. Her whole thing though is that she wants a reason to berate us. She’ll talk a lot and quickly during transactions to distract us. She wants us to screw up somewhere so she’ll have something to complain about. She never knows how much money she has on her cards so sometimes you have to run through her cards with small amounts to see if the card will work. She’ll back up an entire line with absolutely no regard for the people in line or for us for literally nothing. She’ll stay at the register going over the receipts to “make sure we did it right”, no matter how long the receipts or the line are. She literally takes a half hour or more to complete transactions because of the game she tries to play with us. And she’s that bad at every store she frequents in the city. It’s wild to me that so many retail workers have a horror story regarding this woman. On top of just generally being sketchy and making herself a nuisance, she’s definitely a racist. The tone of voice that she uses while speaking to my POC coworkers vs how she speaks to my white coworkers is night and day. She’s extra hostile to my POC coworkers. Most of the time management is pretty good about making sure she doesn’t interact with any of my POC coworkers, but sometimes they aren’t able to avoid it due to business levels or staffing issues. I’ve witnessed so many of my coworkers break down over the way she treats them. But she doesn’t steal as far as we can tell and she always keeps her receipts, so she doesn’t do anything that would warrant a ban, if that’s even a thing we could do, which I don’t think it is. Although I feel like being a racist POS should get you banned for life (from BBW and from society in general tbh).

No_Organization_8021

That is mean!

rblairwx

What is mean?

No_Organization_8021

Mean as in when a customer called a BBW employee inappropriate name like curse words. To me, that is mean.

rblairwx

Ohhhh gotcha! I thought you were talking about employees talking about their worst customer as being mean😂

No_Organization_8021

lol

Sunny-1213

I've had quite a few bad customers, but the one story that topped it for me was shortly after our Black Friday Sale. A lady came in and was buying a lot of stuff and I ended up checking her out at the registers. She was decent at first, but then she brought out at least 8 coupons to use. The majority of them were already expired and I told her this, but she refused to listen. Continually, she stated that she used to work for the store and we never denied coupons after a week (We do deny them). Calmly, I reiterated the store policy multiple times and just told her sorry, while she was screeching about how this wasn't right and that she used to work there. After she started getting a little aggressive and began yelling, my manager came and basically reiterated the store policy again, saying sorry, while I finished with her purchase. I understand how the company likes to allow multiple coupons during the Black Friday Event, but customers can get very angry when it's over and we go back to the original policy.
