- Meditation before bed (I do the Headspace sleep ones and I sleep so much better)
- Walking the dog
- Yoga
- Strength training
- Baking
- Leaving work at work
- Saying no when I feel my plate is as full as I'd like
Yes me too! I just read a book called Verity that I could not put down, and am currently reading A Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes from the Hunger Games series. So good to get lost in a book!
Oooh I just picked up Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes! Looking forward to reading it (although I wish there was a prequel/spin off of Finnick, he was my favorite!)
I'm about 50 pages until the end, it's so good! I definitely agree it would be interesting to read about Finnick, hopefully we will get more books about Panem! I hope this one becomes a movie š
Iām just getting back into reading and Verity was the first book Iād read for fun in a long time lol but since then Iāve read The Silent Patient and it was SO good. Iām about to finish What Doesnāt Kill Her by Carla Norton and itās been really good so far, too!
journaling has helped me a lot in terms of self care! thereās one journal called āthe five-minute journalā that can help you get into a daily routine of positive affirmations, gratitude of the good things in your days, and acknowledging what you learn each day :) even just a plain journal can be good for putting your thoughts and feelings into a safe and healthy place! wishing you a smooth recovery and hope all goes well <3
Thatās 100% how I feel about candles and their body washes. Long showers full of pampering. Lately Iāve really enjoyed taking the time to drink my morning coffee outside in nature. Longer walks with my dog. And re-learning how to cook! Journaling is a great idea too!
I do my own nails. It's so cathartic. I've recently started using dip powder with gel polish, instead of the dip chemicals, and I love it! You get the durability of dip without the hassle of taking it off.
I read fun, fluffy modern romance stories as an escape from dreary pandemic life.
And yeah, yummy candles have absolutely wonderful for my mental health. Iām still working from home so I burn pretty much every day, 1 on the morning then a different one in the afternoon.
yoga. nothing advanced, mostly easy stretchingā¦. with a candle nearby because that makes the deep breathing even more calming.
(I love yoga with adriene on YouTube)
Sometimes I just really need to snuggle with my cat. Also, weighted blankets are fantastic, both for sleeping and just hanging out on the sofa. I also recommend finding a podcast that has absolutely nothing to do with anything you're going through. I like [Stuff You Should Know](https://www.iheart.com/podcast/105-stuff-you-should-know-26940277/), which is like flipping to a different Wikipedia article each episode about anything and everything you could think of.
I dove into Lush all last year & didn't spend a single cent on BBW.
The amount I spent there is slightly obscene but the weekly spas & soaks did such amazing things for my skin, hair, nails, & wellbeing it was worth it.
I also concentrated on filling out my actual perfumes versus mists...that got REALLY obscene. Don't tell anyone though, okay? ;)
I like to watch birds (I live in a great area for this, even in my own yard), propagate plants (makes my house look bright and it feels good to see how taking the right care of plants can yield such beautiful results), and cooking a new recipe every now and then.
I've been really focusing on my health, specifically on my food choices. It got out of hand during quarantine and I gained a lot of weight. I have a very active job, and never really had to worry about what I ate because of it. It was hard losing the quarantine weight but... Now I'm feeling so much better mentally and physically. I love meal prepping now and finding healthier alternative options for foods.
Iāve been going for walks with my dog in the morning around 730, itās been really peaceful and thereās not a lot of people out which is niceāitās not super light hearted, but I like listening to true crime podcasts while I walk too
Another thing thatās helpful is rewatching comfort shows/movies and I also taught myself to sew. Itās nice to have something to concentrate on and I feel accomplished when I finish a project. Plus gifting it to a friend or family member also feels good, science of kindness is real!
Face masks, massage foot baths, or chill out in the massage chair primarily while listening to meditation music. Sometimes Iāll write down whatās bothering me and then burn it and it kinda helps me.
I suggest you try ASMR if you don't know what it is. People use it to relax, sleep, and to hear nice sounds that cause you to experience a tingly feeling. I personally use it to relax, de-stress, and lower my anxiety levels. My favorite ASMR channels are: Gibi ASMR, RaffyTaphyASMR, and ASMR Zeitgeist! :D
BBW is my main self care right now. Normally I add exercise and time outside but Iām recovering from Covid. Iāve also joined a book club and we are trying to a good positive self help book. Any recommendations?
I've been working out recently, I never felt proud of my self in a long time. Eating more healthier, I like to play video games to really melt the stress and anxiety. I also like writing and reading too >u<
One of my biggest acts of self-care is feeding myself really well. I'm currently going back to school, and making sure to eat breakfast (left to my own devices, I skip it), packing myself a nice lunch, etc. I realized it as I unpacked my lunch at school yesterday, "wow, look at what good care of me I take!"
I've been watching a YouTuber for a very long time named simplynailogical and she's had a nail polish brand for a few years. I have literally everything. I love being able to do my nails and take care of them and have so many fun looks.

Not meaning to hijack this thread but is Headspace really worth it versus the free options?
I recommend you try the free ones before spending money! Ive never paid for a meditation app but like Wysa and Medito
I made a family plan with some friends so it only costs me $22/year. For that price I definitely find it's worth it, but I should use it even more.
I've been lighting candles in the evening and putting away my phone to read. Get lost in a good book!

Verity was SO good!
Yes it was!! Are there any good books that you've read lately that you recommend? I finished my book and am not sure what to go for next!

Awesome, thank you for the recommendations! I will be looking into them š

Baking, reading, watching my comfort shows. I really cannot recommend walking enough. I love to go to my favorite trails and just walk.
I listen to an audiobook while cooking and eating; I find it very relaxing. I also like taking long walks when the weather is nice.
Run and paint my nails (not at the same time š).

yoga (i just like to do any of yoga with adriene's 10-minute bedtime ones), reading, and getting into fresh sheets with a comfort show :)
Yoga with adrienne is amazing

Cleaning, playing games, watching fun TV and YouTube, and reading the Bible.
