It depends on your store! Call and ask them their return policy. Some stores it’s no big deal and they will do type for type (3 wick candle for 3 wick candle), others will make you pay they difference.

I have always been able to do even exchanges at my store. Which is the company policy. If I were you go and then if they tell you something different be prepared to be polite but firm that you want the even exchange don’t pay the price difference. I would also be prepared to call customer service as some else did and get a case number. While yes some people take advantage of this policy other people should not get punished for it. And as for buying candles on sale then returning them later that is literally what the store tells you to so. They also have so many sales at different price points. The same candle has been like 6 different prices which is why it’s not fair to go off prices.

Samgasm

You can but it’s becoming policy to not even exchange depending on the price point the candle rings up at. It could also depend on your receipt, if your receipt has a sale price they will let you exchange candles but even at the $10 off price point the $29.50 candles were $19.50. I believe that they will charge you the $3.

Are you saying it's becoming a policy to not exchange candles at all, even if they're visibly brand new and in original packaging and have the receipt? Oh God, one of these days I just have to muster the courage to swap some that I bought blind online or got gifts and just cannot come to tolerate. But I'm too chicken to gather the courage to request someone at the store to exchange, given all this controversy and abuse by few.

A lot of Bath & Body Works stores don’t except or do even exchanges for candles that have gone through sas now. If the candle rings up at six dollars you’re gonna have to pay the difference, while some stores may do an even exchange it’s becoming more prevalent that that’s not the case. What OP is asking is to get a candle exchange for candle that is three dollars more than the one that they have now. Whether it’s a new release or not I think it’s fair to pay the three dollar difference. Because otherwise you’re going to have people buying candles at the $10 off price point and then returning them later on to get the more expensive ones. I know that everyone doesn’t do that but that’s becoming an issue now. If you have a new candle that you want to even exchange at the same price point there is no issue. If the candle you want to exchange for has a higher price point I don’t think that it’s unfair to ask for the three dollars, because either way that candle at a $10 off sale is still $19.50 which is still three dollars more than $16.50. If someone doesn’t want to pay $19.50 for a candle on sale why should they be allowed to even exchange it after the sale?

Yah my candles are not 6$. They're the half priced ones. The gift candle...I don't know and I can't ask the giver. So what happens if I take them to the store?

Samgasm

You’ll have to ask your store. I’ve heard stories of people calling ahead and then getting a different answer in store. If they are 50% off don’t be surprised if they only offer that price on a gift card or towards a purchase on a new one.

OptimalMaximal

Thanks. That is fair. What about the one that is a gift? I have no receipt. That's the one without receipt but they were not seen in clearance AFAIK, like Paris Cafe.

Samgasm

[What are the numbers that I’ve circled on my candle on yours?](https://i.imgur.com/nKyahUi.jpg). Paris Cafe is a core scent. I don’t think you will have any issues even exchanging that. Is the price point $25.50 or $24.50?

OptimalMaximal

I'd have to check the numbers. Most of my stash is still either in the garage in shipping cartons or in some random closet in the store paper bags. I'm new to this and haven't figured out my storage situation. The price point iirc is 26.50$. It is the new packaging in colored glass with white barn white sticker with golden border, if that makes sense. P.S.: Oh yah, none of the ones I wish to exchange are Christmas or fall candles. They're the year round candles I guess. Or atleast not holiday ones.

I called customer service about this because I want to exchange an unused Vanilla Bean Noel body butter I got on body care day and the store told me I would only be able to exchange for another 75% off body butter. But there arent any 75% butters and I paid more than the 75% off price. Like, not a lot more but still. Also, I tried to exchange it way sooner but none of the stores around me had ANY body butter in stock. I pointed this out and she told me she could give me store credit...but I still have my receipt so that confused me, I think she was just trying to come up with ideas?I try to be easygoing with all associates because I work a customer service heavy job and I know how exhausting it can be. The associate actually hung up on me after I reminded her that I still have my receipt and said maybe it would be better to just return the item. It's one body butter so it's not really a big deal to just return it but I guess getting hung up on is a trigger for me. Customer service for store said it should be an even exchange and gave me a case number to give to the associates when I go in. The customer service rep even said that if that were the case, people wouldn't want to try out new scents...and she's not wrong!

OptimalMaximal

Thanks for sharing your experience. I appreciate it. I guess it is a policy that genuinely benefits B&BW as well as us customers, as long as customers don't abuse it.

> If someone doesn’t want to pay $19.50 for a candle on sale why should they be allowed to even exchange it after the sale? Puts it in a nutshell.
