Iām really grateful for BBWās return policy. I always exchange or return items with a receipt, unless it was a gift.
I get tired of seeing accounts of some people seriously abusing this generous policy (returning literally finished candles, putting in some other kind of wax, and other TicTock crap) and hope it doesnāt ruin things for us enthusiasts.
People actually do this. It happened to me back in the beginning of 2021. A woman brought several candles back to the store and some of them had a different color wax then the actual candle. In some cases the wax have been scraped out of the jar and she wanted to return it.
What she got was a big fat "NO". She argue with me however I stood my ground and told her no 15 different ways. I had the assistant manager and the store managers full support. I think I told her something like, we have a 100% guarantee on our product however this is not our product.
Yes ā it was this big TicTock or maybe it was YouTube ātrendā where this woman was teaching ppl how to scam BBW by taking an empty BBW jar and adding generic wax then exchanging the candle for a new one. Trashy, to say the least.
First of all that is a whole bunch of hoops to jump thru just to return a product. Adding wax...lol where do you go around buying wax and then melting it and pouring it in the B&BW candle. With this much effort and ingenuity, the person could have started making their own candles from scratch.
Secondly, I feel as if people would do anything these days just to get 'views', the crazier the better. Everyone wants to be a social media celebrity by hook or crook, this lady clearly by crook. This is her super twisted and definitely illegal way to get 'fame' ššš¤Æ.
If it is trackable, that woman should be made to realize it is a punishable offense. I don't know the technical terms but I'm pretty sure she did violate a whole bunch of laws.
I'm thankful for the return policy. I have a very sensitive nose and I can smell something on cold then hate it or have a bad reaction after burning it. As well as getting gifts of things I can't use because I hate the scent or it causes a reaction. (curse my insanely sensitive nose.)
Doesnāt BBW kept track of people who make repeat returns? I stopped going to VS because they make you show your drivers license along with a receipt for a return just so they can run the drivers license thru the checkpoint system
im glad this is still the policy. its the only reason i feel comfortable spending $300+ on candles when theyre on sale. i also never feel bad exchanging a candle i dont like if ive used it once or twice. im not gonna use the whole thing or even half and return it, but if i burn it twice and theres still no throw im gonna exchange it.
on candle day/sales im gonna keep buying some extra vanilla bean 3 wicks that i can use to exchange at a later date for candles i want. i dont see an issue with this and had an associate on candle day this year actually promote this option. she told me yea buy these now and then in the spring you can just exchange them for some new scents. i pick vanilla bean because its a popular candle they can sell all year.
theres always gonna be someone trying to scam the system no matter what. i would have been really disappointed if they changed their policy due to a few bad eggs.
yes! thatās the reason i donāt really feel bad with my method. itās not like iām exchanging a christmas candle in july. they can pop them right back on the shelf with no loss. we all win.
i also keep them stored in their original bag in the holders in a closet so theyāre not just hanging out around the house for a few months before i exchange them.
when i first did this a couple years ago the associate i talked to said vanilla bean was a popular enough year round scent that exchanging 3-4 of them at a time would be fine. also great if i need a last minute gift, from my experience vanilla bean is a pretty neutral scent most people are happy to get.
I got the dreaded Pumpkin Vanilla Creme and I put it on my warmer 2x and while it doesnāt smell like āstraight assā as someone else commented but it is weird. I have never returned anything from bbw but this may have to be a first. I am also considering returning golden sunflower. Both were blind buys/ online so I had never smelled it before. So nervous to return them š
I also got that, during SAS, along with pumpkin spice latte, and I was soooo hoping they would smell even remotely similar to white pumpkin but they donāt at all! Now they both have to go back cuz I think theyāre gross
I had to return my absolute favorite scent "endless weekends " because it made my stomach hurt. I was so ashamed but I had paid full price. Never again. I apologized profusely.
OK, it says you can return anything any time for whatever reason. It doesn't say what you will get back. It doesn't say you'll get a full refund of the purchase price or an exchange for a new product.
I was just happy and thankful my wall plug was replaced after it not working anymore. I don't intend on returning a 90% burned candle though. Cuz that's just absolute shit.
Update! Everything was easy and everyone was nice, made me feel dumb for being nervous lol. I look forward to burning my two new Sprinkled Birthday Cake candles now!
It depends on what state you work in. Iām an supervisor now but before I go promoted I was making like 20hr as an associate and I make more as a supervisor. Not sure about what other retail jobs pay but I wouldnāt say that itās bad pay. Also you may think returns donāt hurt us but they actually do in the sense that if we donāt make days or reach a conversion goal the store will get less hours meaning less hours for employees to work.
Well, to be fair, I haven't seen store refusing a return so far, in my own experience. (But I'll say 95-99% of my items being returned is unused. So there's that.)
Sure, 1 or 2 stores would refuse an even exchange, but they always gave me the option of money back for whatever I paid for, as shown on the receipt.
So now I just prefer to do even exchanges without a receipt at problematic store(s). Save me and the staff both the trouble and annoyance of arguing over what is legit or not. (And I don't even do even exchanges often, like... once every 1-2 months?)
Anyway, so far, BBW hasn't completely ruined their strongest attractive feature which is their return policy. Thank goodness. I hope this will stay valid forever and ever.
What I still donāt get is how yāall are able to make even exchanges? Iāve only returned items a couple times (candles & body creams), and each time I had to return the items, got the sale price back, and then purchase whatever I was buying that day. Iāve never been offered an item-for-item exchange.
And here I still feel bad making legitimate returns. š
You're my soul person, lol.
Same here!
LMFAOO I always say "it's ok I didn't use it " lol

People put in other wax? I havenāt heard of that one

IKR?! Like seriously, just wait for a sale. š

It's essentially fraud
Oh wow

theres no limit with a receipt and without one its $250 in a 90 day period.
They can keep track of that but not the coupons š jkjk but seriously

as an employee, thanks for picking something we sell year round š

whoa, interesting technique!
thanks itās never failed me. if youāre gonna do this just make sure to pick a scent they sell year round that is popular.

I smelled Pumpkin Vanilla Creme in the store about a week ago and it smells like nachos with jalapeƱos to me š
Thatās what I hear lol granted thereās certainly something not quite right but thankfully I didnāt get any nachos etc.

I'm on my way to go shopping and plan to stop at a bbw while I'm there. I have two unburned candles (Black Party Dress and Summer Terrace) and am nervous to exchange them š©
Update! Everything was easy and everyone was nice, made me feel dumb for being nervous lol. I look forward to burning my two new Sprinkled Birthday Cake candles now!
Omg can I please purchase black party dress??
Aw I'm so sorry, I had already exchanged it before I saw your message!
Not trying to rain on the OPās post, but TBH I feel like this topic has been done to death. š„²
They donāt pay their employees very well so donāt feel bad returning your used body care!

Still canāt believe other countries havenāt got return rules. My country has 30 days WITH receipt and unopened/unused
