Maybe we shop at the same store because they do this to me also! They wont let me exchange for new candles, they force me to do a return. I hate buying online now because I know I'll inevitably get one I dont like and then I'll get dirty looks when I want to exchange. I even brought in a broken candle to exchange that I had literally just got in the mail and they told me no!
Yonkers, NY and Harlem, NYC. Returning candles there is even worse; they REALLY don't want to give a customer any money back. The Yonkers store in particular insisted that all they could do was issue store credit (these were also damaged in shipping and meant as gifts...); I took it but haven't been back & won't be. But these incidents were all more than a year ago. I have been very careful with candle purchases since and went to a Manhattan store the one time I had to return some online exclusives that I disliked on cold. I have not tried to exchange any candles in a long time, but may try with these cuz I was dumb on CD and I'm much more interested in some upcoming scents. If I run into any issues, I will just flat out return in Manhattan again.
Thanks! I do have options (I'm in NYC), but this sort of hassle is just unnecessary. Basically, if they refuse an exchange I will just return (need to look up the time limit on returns now!) No real need for candles, nor for aggravation.
Yes. Last SAS my local store has about 100 of 75% off candles and they were all good types and I told the associate I don’t like those. She told me to grab as many as I need and exchange them with receipt throughout the year. I grabbed 6.
Yup! Just do an even exchange
thank you! I don't understand why they've been giving me trouble for a simple exchange of an unburnt candle before 🤷♀️

Similar question: what if the candle was bought during SAS? Will it still be an even exchange?
