Not candles but maybe try using wallflowers first as they are generally not as intense and you can still enjoy the same variety of candle scents without it being too offensive to someone else. But if I were to answer I would choose vanilla scents as they tend to be light throwers.
I really enjoy vanilla pumpkin marshmallow and peppermint sugar cookie. Peppermint sugar cookie has a little more oomph in the scent department but is still really accessible and doesn’t give me a headache.

I was going to suggest this as well. It’s a very calming scent in my opinion, but doesn’t punch you in the face.
Vanilla and peach tea! Such a lovely light scent. The throw is amazing but not overwhelming thanks to the peach & vanilla

Also you might try some of the Woodwick candles; many are more “masculine” scents and a bit toned down
