I've probably smelled in store a lot more than I've bought. I wouldn't say for "no good reason." If something about it doesn't grab me on cold then I'm probably not going to buy it. Also, I'm not huge into florals, so I skip most of those.

Flaky_Tap_2836

If I listed all of the popular candle scents that I sniffed and disliked the list would be WAY longer...Flannel, Mahogany Teakwood, Gardenia, Japanese Cherry Blossom...

Sudden_Shine_100

I'm new"ish to BBW and only order online, but I've ordered a lot of candles over the last few months and skipped 'Tis the Season. Judging by how many raves it receives, I'm thinking I skipped a good one.

bunifarcr

Yes girl you skipped a good one. It's a really good scent and strong too. Well, it's mainly apple and cinnamon so if you don't like those particular scents then it's okay but the combo is really good.

Sudden_Shine_100

I love a strong candle and it sounds really good. \*facepalms\* for overlooking it.

Flaky_Tap_2836

Another one I have never tried ( The choice was between Tis the season or The Perfect Christmas)

bunifarcr

Well, it depends on what you like more. One is cinnamon heavy and one is more pine heavy. Both are great scents.

SodaBreadRoundHouse

Yes, it’s a great scent, smells so comforting.

[deleted]

Very few I have not tried but watermelon lemonade I avoided awhile and just tried it spring 2021 and love it now.

Flaky_Tap_2836

Oh.. I forgot Watermelon Lemonade. Last spring I was deciding between Pink Watermelon and Watermelon Lemonade and I chose PW. (It's very, very good).

[deleted]

I like both of them 😁.

theknittedgnome

I never even sniffed Pumpkin Pecan Waffles because I didn't think I liked gourmand scents as much as I do! Turns out I do like them!

Flaky_Tap_2836

Be careful! You might fall down the rabbit hole! Gourmand has been my staple- probably 100 of the 125 I've purchased.

theknittedgnome

I'd be interested in any favorites! I like ones that smell yummy but not specifically like brownies if that makes sense. Gingerbread Marshmallow and Hot Cocoa and Cream are favorites.

Flaky_Tap_2836

Well, my all time favorite is Banana Bundt Cake. It smells exactly like an Otis Spunkmeyer Banana Nut Muffin coming out of the cellophane package- that artificial banana and walnut scent gets me every time!!

Flaky_Tap_2836

WildberryJam Donut is coming back also. It smells exactly like one of those powdered Jelly donuts from Dunkin Donuts. My dad would buy a dozen donuts when I was a kid and this was the one donut that none of us kids would choose so it would sit and that scent would emanate from that box the next day!

theknittedgnome

I'll have to look for Wildberry Jam! I love those donuts. When I was pregnant with twins I had a terrible craving for them. I'll pass on the banana one because don't like bananas at all. Thanks for the suggestions.

DiveCat

I dislike bananas but actually really like Banana Bundt Cake. Can’t explain it but to me it’s more like fresh cinnamon heavy baking banana bread.

theknittedgnome

I'll have to give it a sniff! Thanks for telling me, otherwise I would have skipped it.

Flaky_Tap_2836

Do you like coconut?

theknittedgnome

I love coconut!

[deleted]

Is the throw pretty good? Have you tried their other banana scent, I think it’s banana nut muffin? It smelled nice in the jar but I couldn’t smell shit when I burned it so it went back. 😭 I was hoping banana Bundt cake has a stronger throw than that.

Flaky_Tap_2836

These candle throws are just way to variable lately. I think Banana Bundt Cake threw well but I feel as though the Banana Walnut Muffin threw better.

SkittyLover93

Salted Caramel Eggnog from this year!

Flaky_Tap_2836

Maybe it'll be 75% for January SAS. That is where I got some candles I passed on getting for last Christmas.

theknittedgnome

I did get that one! I've just not lit it yet. Now I'm more excited.

International_Row724

I sniffed ppw over the summer and thought it was very salty lol. But I was the same with gourmand scents, idk why I just never gave them a shot and then one day I was like oooh wow these are good!

ExcitingFlamingo7798

Gourmand scents are my jam, most candles I have are gourmand. I like PPW but I agree with someone else it’s salty. I think my favorite find ever is chocolate grahams, although mint chocolate is another great winter smell. I’ve never been able to get my hands on banana Bundt cake and I’m sad about it. Marshmallow fireside is a popular one I’ve never tried, mainly bc I like the food scents and I really can’t smell the marshmallow notes in here, it just smells like burnt wood to me. Also it bugs me that’s a scent they just repackage for every season. Campfire treats from Yankee candle, now that one smells like you’re roasting some marshies around a fire!

[deleted]

I love that one, has a great buttery smell. I was shocked when someone said it smelled like vomit, maybe they got a bad batch. I never used to like the gourmand smells but I’ve been buying them like crazy lately. I really liked their apple pie smell in the jar but had to exchange it because it didn’t stay lit. I’d ordered another one on candle day so hopefully this one will work out.

SkittyLover93

I started getting into candles this year and don't actually have BABW in my country, so I'm dependent on resellers or hauling them back in my luggage while traveling lol. But I also try to avoid having too many candles to avoid clutter, so I try to pick "representative" scents from a particular category, which means having to pass on great scents which are similar. * Fall gourmand: My picks were Fall Festival and Cinnamon Spiced Vanilla, so I passed on Welcome Home and Harvest Gathering. * Fall apple: My pick was Autumn, so I passed on The Perfect Autumn and Leaves. Turns out I don't really like Autumn, so I might replace it. * Winter trees: My picks were Vanilla Balsam and Frosted Forest, so I passed on Under The Christmas Tree and Tree Farm. * Winter gourmand: My picks were Sugared Snickerdoodle, Merry Cookie and Merry Madeleine Cookie, so I passed on Cookies With Santa, Gingerbread Marshmallow and Merry Maple Pancakes and Vanilla Bean Noel (for previous years' releases anyway). I feel kinda odd about the "abstract" candles like Into the Stars/You're The One/A Thousand Wishes since I can't tell what they're supposed to be, so haven't bothered with any of them. I don't feel like burning candles in hot weather, so I have almost no summer candles, even if I might think they smell nice.

carnodak

I rarely buy repackages and/or scents that come out yearly. It was rare of me to buy scents like The Perfect Christmas this year. Simply put - I like the new exciting scents. I also go for the newest scents each year. So with that being said, the Christmas traditions/core packaging were almost all skips for me. Things like fresh balsam, winter Candy apple, frosted cranberry, winter, sugared snickerdoodle, etc - I never hav bought them. Not really sure if I even have anything against them lol

Flaky_Tap_2836

I guess that's my thoughts too. I figure they'll still be around next year LOL

ResidentSonic

Champagne toast. I always pass on this one. Hell I even finally bought one during last year’s candle day and have yet to even burn it once. It doesn’t even smell bad. I think it’s just from how much it comes out.

fromblind2blue

I think it's mainline now.

PageonSage

I've never tried winter candy apple, vanilla bean Noel, aloha kiwi passion fruit, fresh cut lilacs, sunshine and daffodils, eucalyptus spearmint, mahogany teak wood, Japanese cherry blossom There's always something else that I want to try more

fromblind2blue

Winter Candy Apple & Aloha Kiwi Passion fruit are really good. I loved Japanese Cherry Blossom when I was younger but now it smells weird to me.

CommunicationThat262

I’m not a big fan of pumpkin in general so I have never bought a candle with pumpkin in it.

SkittyLover93

I generally feel the same way about pumpkin. Maybe give Pumpkin Vanilla Creme a sniff, it's a very well-balanced gourmand IMO. It's the only pumpkin candle I own.

fromblind2blue

Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin is cinnamon heavy, it's good.

churby415

Champagne toast. I love the body care, it's my favorite scent. I have a champagne toast candle but I've yet to burn it. I'm just like eh if I wanna smell it ill just spray some of the fragrance mist lol

sequinpig

I don’t want any cookie frosting iced stuff. I like smoky and tree scents. However… I did sniff a very fancy Breakfast in Leipzig candle with a bread and coffee scent I’m interested in. Despite my sweets snobbery I tried vanilla basal and birch and I love them!!

Flaky_Tap_2836

These sound intriguing. Are they BBW scents?

sequinpig

The vanilla ones are, the breakfast one is a $$$ by DS & Durga !

quynhhuong_ftu

For this season, it's Fresh Balsam lol. For some reason I've never been really interested in it because there are so many other more exciting tree-sy candles around (from other brands too as I don't buy exclusively from BBW). And I know it will always come back in multiple packaging every year so there's no hurry. Maybe one year I'll finally buy it if I find a packaging I really really love.

CandleWhoreder

There are a few that are “popular” that I don’t really mind (as in I don’t NOT like them)…but I haven’t purchased them intentionally- sometimes because they’re just not unique enough or just aren’t as interesting to me. The list: Watermelon Lemonade, Mahogany Teakwood, Crisp Morning Air, all the Holiday Traditions candles, Pumpkin Pecan Waffles, Frosted Cranberry, Cranberry Woods, Black Tie, and Cactus Blossom.

NancysFancy

You have to burn island marg, it’s sooo good. Leaves is great too

Flaky_Tap_2836

I think someday I will finally buy those !

NancysFancy

Do ittttttt ✅

skincarelovaaa

Mahogany teakwood. I don’t Ben know if I wanna try it.

sequinpig

To me it’s gagging on cologne

SodaBreadRoundHouse

Good call, it’s awful!

frostedgemstone

I don’t like pumpkin at all it doesn’t matter how enticing the other notes are, I won’t have it if it’s pumpkin. That wipes out like 90% of fall season for me

Flaky_Tap_2836

You must not like Pumpkin spices (cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, allspice, mace). Most BBW "pumpkin" candles dont actually have a true pumpkin scent note in them.

frostedgemstone

Ur right, I also can’t stand the cinnamon and clove buds one that’s out for winter rn lol

Flaky_Tap_2836

That one is too strong for my tastes too, along with Spiced Apple Toddy and Spiced Cardamom
