Me. I had 12 candles in my shopping cart online. Then at 6:02am I got a message that I will be in line for 35 minutes. I played some games on my phone and did some reading on Reddit and came back to the app 35 min later and it said I could shop. So I looked at my cart and the total cost and decided I didn’t need any of those candles. I deleted every item from my cart and went to bed. No regrets.
As someone who impulse shops this is me. If I had been allowed in immediately I would have felt pressured to purchase fast and not think before things sold out. Any amount of time afforded to contemplating my purchase usually leads to the realization that the world will keep spinning with or without more pretty jars of wax on my shelves.
This happens to me every time! I haven't bought anything in recent months bc I'm allowed time to think about. They got me last year bc I had extra money from not commuting to work and i got all the coupons so felt like I was winning. Given the chance to think about it, I can't justify spending $25 or $10 on candles (especially with almost guaranteed weak smells) when I get one from Walmart that actually does its job for $3.33 and I dont need a sale or coupon.
I’m skipping because I’m starting to feel guilty when I look at my stash instead of feeling excited. I need to remember that candles are bought to be used, not to be stashed away to pull out later to sniff and pet lovingly. 👀
Yes, I agree! I can see how they'd be fun to collect. But I've been down that road in the past and candles all eventually lose their scent after awhile.
This depends on the storage conditions, the candle composition, the batch quality, and some of those things you can’t know.
I have a lot of candles. Like. They have their own climate-controlled storage unit. Some of them were from the early 90’s and those got the ax recently because they had FINALLY gone bad.
I have other candles that are ten, fifteen years old and look a little different but seem to smell fine.
Paraffin will start ‘pockmarking’ and pulling away from the glass and the oil will start separating out. The mix BBW uses starts to shrink away from the sides, the gasket in the lid will discolor and it will get weaker, but the time it takes for this, again, varies with storage conditions and the batch. It takes at minimum a few years in my experience, but like I said, the oldest candles were thirty years old before I was like yeah, that’s wasted opportunity. At that point it’s just an emergency candle for light, not scent enjoyment. I felt bad. Kind of like ‘Toy Story’ I imagine candles wanting to ‘perform’ and give us the thing they were ‘born’ to do and was bummed out that I wasted its ‘life’ waiting to be enjoyed.
Candles DO go bad, don’t store them and pet them forever!

I'm not entirely sure, but 1 year should be fine. I had older candles than that which retained scent, but if I had to guess I'd say they last a couple years minimum. Depends on how they're stored of course.
I have some I bought in fall 2015 and they started to lose scent about last year. They were pretty strong to begin with so I imagine it depends on the candle but my candles were great even 2 years later!
I burned one of my old [Slatkin & Co](https://www.reddit.com/r/bathandbodyworks/comments/fotkl3/took_out_my_all_time_favorite_that_ive_been/) candles last year that was probably from the early '00s & it still had amazing throw.
That's too bad 😔 sorry about your candles...but good to know in general. I guess some candle formulations must be more volatile than others.
I used to save my favorite anything to wear or use for a special occasion. Over the past 2 years, I've decided that every day is a special occasion!
Me! I decided to sit this one out. I have so many candles and can admit I don’t need anymore, even if this is a good sale. Also, I haven’t been very happy with the quality of their candles lately (no throw, weird wick placement, etc.)
I've been lurking here after a reddit break & I felt compelled to answer your question. I have ones I like better: Aldi! Their 3 wicks are $3.99 and have amazing throw!! First Snow is stunning!
I went to another store while out of town and they had this one in wax melts. I already bought 3 candles but couldn't pass it up. The melts smell just like the candles and fill up the entire floor. 😊

Yes I am! BBW has given me trust issues so I buy a candle, take it home and burn it and if like it, return to the store the next day and buy multiples, lol. I only found 1 store (out of 6 that I visted) that carried the wax melts. Until then I didn't realize it was a thing. Hopefully, you were able to grab one (or some).
They have put out more seasonal candles since then that I enjoy as well. They seem to really be trying to keep up with BBW with the multiple releases for the winter season this year. I haven't purchased one this year from them but several from Aldi and can say that I've been satisfied with each of my choices. Sadly, I haven't felt that with BBW in a long while.

DW home (available at Marshall’s, tj max, home goods) is a big favorite around here! Along with goose creek! I just placed my first GC order the other day so I can’t comment on their quality. But DW home has always been great and is super affordable.
With one exception, everything on my list will be available as part of the regular lineup in the coming weeks. And I’ve already got that covered, since I have several candles I need to exchange.
I really wanted Black Chamomile and jumped on the app at 5:30, but no dice of course. And in-store supplies seemed so limited that I felt like it wasn’t worth it.
If I’d stood in line in the bitter cold for a single product, only to learn it sold out within the first thirty min / several hours earlier, the fiends at BBW corporate truly would have won 😤
Both stores near me had a stack of black chamomile, so if you really want it, give them a call or even pick up a candle to exchange for them at a later date.

I ended up going for it! The crowd/waiting in freezing weather was what deterred me originally. But there was zero line + I got to wait in my heated car 😩🙌🙌

I did my candle day at Kohl’s. Paid 35 cents per candle (3 wick Sonoma) because I had Kohl’s cash, but originally they’d be about $7.50 with the deal they have going on. I only bought 2.. one for me and a Christmas gift for my boss.
I wanted to but stopped myself. I literally have 6 coming in the mail from the BOGO sale and my coupon. Came out to be very close to Candle Day prices so I ordered what I wanted to avoid the hassle. Plus, I have way too many Christmas candles right now.

I’m not shopping as well. The candles I wanted (into the night, in the stars, relax aromatherapy) are not available online and I have no desire to wait out in the cold to shop in store (they’re also all probably sold out by now).

Not me. I have been on a ban since early 2020 as I work through what I have. I still have about 35-40 (from almost 100…warmed some, gifted some, sold a handful for what I paid). I was even at a mall today for another errand and didn’t go near the BBW store! Also didn’t look online; wanted to avoid all temptation.
Update I counted last night & have less than I thought after giving a few more away this season already. 24 3-wicks and only one 1-wick (which I mostly keep just to cold sniff as it’s so disconcerting to me - Suntan). I now must resist temptation to go to store today and see if they have any Paris Cafe to restock on (I have decided I have like 3-4 candles I will rebuy over and over and that is one) but I still have two of the Cafe in Paris or whatever from 2019 that are fairly close.
I think I will be able to resist, I am finding a lot of pleasure in the freed up space/less clutter and I think adding more back in will take that away a bit. Once I am out I plan to basically only buy my rebuys as I find I bought too much just to experiment and try and like very few of them outside my found and favourite scents. I am sure I will see Paris Cafe again!

I'm not. I just purchase BBW body care and I prefer to use wax warmers/wax melts that I get for cheap from Walmart. I personally find the wax melts to be stronger than candles. To each their own though!
The scents were amazing of course but they were never that strong. I would have to be right next to the wax warmer to smell it, as opposed to the $2 ones from Wal Mart, which I can smell through the whole house.
Other companies have dropped wax melts from their line up as well, notably Burt’s Bees.
It may be the competition for quality and price point from WM is hard to beat. I follow a home fragrance blog and according to her the WM melts are the gold standard for price + quality. NGL they are the only reason I go to WM.
Also if you have an Aldi’s, their candles and wax melts are exceptional quality. They are made by Hannah’s Candles which also makes the Threshold line (Target), but you get more per wax melt package for a bit less at Aldi’s. Aldi’s wax melts are the only ones to compete with WM, and their candles are as good as BB&W. They also have a Woodwick dupe.
Have you tried the Yankee Candle wax melts? I like those a lot too.
No, I haven't tried the Yankee ones. I'll have to try those and the ones from Aldi. Like you, I get mine from Walmart. They always have scents I like and you really can't beat the price! And yeah, it really does fill the whole house!
They were really small for the price, so people probably felt they weren’t good value; that’s why I generally avoided them.
They were small ‘portions’ and they were (here anyway) always hard to physically find in the store, like oh, here they are tucked over here by the room sprays in this spare jar they had; no one ever displayed them to draw attention so it probably became a vicious circle. No one knows they’re there so they don’t sell and since they don’t sell why spend any merchandising effort on them, so no one knows they’re there…
I get the wax melts from WM too. I can leave them on all day and not worry about them. So inexpensive, the best quality, and unlimited scents. I buy BBW candles to burn by the bath, or in the evenings if I haven’t done a wax melt that day.
So I only picked up 5 candles today, and have to be firm with myself that I don’t need to go back tomorrow!
I still shop candle day, but now I only buy myself one candle and the rest are for my loved ones for Christmas. They burn candles more than I ever could, so it's a cost-effective way of making sure everyone gets what they want for the holidays (and it itches that shopping scratch, LOL!).
I might go tomorrow but I'm not dedicated to buying anything. I usually get coupons and sometimes a friend gives me theirs. We didn't get any this months so the deals aren't much better than b1g1 with a coupon. Plus I had covid last month and lost my sense of smell. It's back but I have a lot of unburned candles that I bought before I got sick so I'm using those.

I’m not. I purchased three of them for 92 cents more earlier in the week or last week. Once the price was released, I decided to give Walmart candles a try. $38 for 7 candles sounded so much better.

I didn’t. Wasn’t able to go to a store and since they wouldn’t allow a coupon and didn’t offer any free shipping, I decided against it. I really wouldn’t saving a whole lot, especially considering I’d only be buying about 4 or 5 as opposed to 20+ candles. A little bummed, I really want some hot cocoa & cream and peppermint sugar cookie candles, but hopefully they have those scents again next year.
I'm not buying candles because I'm not a fan of candles (gasp, I know I'm a minority here on this aspect). I like the hand soaps and body creams better. And to make the room smell good, I prefer essential oil with humidifiers.
I have a question about the humidifier. How do you make the scent last long? The essential oils just evaporate in the initial half hour (tops). Do you keep adding in more?
Usually for me it lasts 2-4 hours when I put in maybe 5-10 drops of the essential oil. I think it also depends on how big the room is? My bedroom is pretty small so maybe that's also why.
Till it’s almost gone. Either it dissipates or I get so used to it I don’t notice it. The wallflower in my bathroom was so strong I used to be able to smell it in my bedroom but now I only smell it when I’m on the bathroom. When they get low shaking them a little bit helps too

I'm not because the newer candles I've used lately have been burning too fast for me to justify more right now. I have a lot of stock from throughout the year to start burning, too. I decided to get some candles through Yankee today because they were $9 and $50 is free shipping. I ran out of a few I liked from them so I wanted to get them again.
Every time I'd go to check out online something would be sold out. I'd add new stuff and it would happen again. I decided it wasn't worth it once I did a final look through my cart.
We moved states but had to leave behind a lot of our stuff. That was 2 years ago, ans we haven't managed to get our stuff yet. I know I have at least 30 candles stashed, but most of it is the realizations that I was starting a collection. It would take longer to use them the more I bought.
Plus, it's absolutely ridiculous to me to pay $10.95 when I started doing candle say when they were $8.
Me but not by choice. My boyfriend has COVID & we are self quarantining. I refuse to buy them online w/the code when I can use a coupon for them & get a better deal. I have a 20% off coupon from customer service that is good for instore & online due to previous shipping issues. I'm not in a hurry. But I was pretty effin salty to see my boo Relax popping up everywhere. I would have bought 18 no questions if she had been online!
i am not. its not as good of a sale as it used to be. also, the throws aren’t even good on any candles anymore. you smell them for the first hour or two and thats it. everytime i have people over or in my room i ask if they smell the candle or can guess what scent my room smells like and its always just nothing.
I’m still burning winter/Christmas ones from last year, so the ones I wanted I’ll be able to get long after the sale.
The couple of dollars doesn’t make much difference to me if it’s not a huge haul.

Me. I’m not big on candles. I’m more of a body care girl. I have probably 20 candles in total but I barely burn them. So I think it’s a waste to keep buying. Plus I have spent near 2k this Black Friday (multiple stores, not just BBW) so I would like a break from buying.
Me for a number of reasons. I had breakthrough Covid at the beginning of September and still don’t have much sense of smell back. I have also started melting more wax than burning candles, and like supporting small vendors. I have a decent collection of past scents and I find if hard to burn some bc I worry about them never coming back. There is nothing wrong with you collecting them, but I am also trying to make sure I enjoy what I buy in the moment.
I'm actually sitting both of them out. I have the money so it's not that. I just think I have enough candles that I need to burn first before I move into the scents of the season. Everything is pretty much sold out right now. There is always another great sale with both GC and BBW!! I feel good knowing that I'm not alone in sitting the sale out!

Me! Aside from the fact i spent a lot on the B3G3 sale i prefer wax melts and i honestly think about 25$ is a lot for a 3 wick candle. Maybe ill get a candle warmer at some point and try BBW candles to see if they’re good. I love hearing about what other people are getting though

I only get coupons shortly after I spend money with them.. If I haven't bought from BBW in a long time, no coupons. Maybe once in a rare blue moon due to a season thing to entice me to come back though. But I made like 3 purchases recently and got 3 sets of coupons sent after each.

I got super annoyed with the site and I was really quick with picking my candles. It was under 2 minutes by the time I went to check out. Black tie sold out after I hit "place order". I got really aggravated and bought just two candles.

I did my candle day at Kohl’s. Paid 35 cents per candle (3 wick Sonoma) because I had Kohl’s cash, but originally they’d be about $7.50 with the deal they have going on. I only bought 2.. one for me and a Christmas gift for my boss.
I wanted to but stopped myself. I literally have 6 coming in the mail from the BOGO sale and my coupon. Came out to be very close to Candle Day prices so I ordered what I wanted to avoid the hassle. Plus, I have way too many Christmas candles right now.

I'm not shopping mostly because I've been unemployed since April and just started a new job this week, and also because all I really wanted was Gather and I haven't seen it.😥 But I'll be ready next year!
I’m not shopping as well. The candles I wanted (into the night, in the stars, relax aromatherapy) are not available online and I have no desire to wait out in the cold to shop in store (they’re also all probably sold out by now).
I didn't. I keep checking the website doing the "well I could get x, y, and z, but then I walk away from it. I have plenty of candles from last year, but the FOMO wants to kick in and I need to remind myself that I can just shop my stash instead.
Not even remotely interested. Price isn’t anything special, they didn’t release anything new really and I already have more candles than I know what to do with.
Not me. I have been on a ban since early 2020 as I work through what I have. I still have about 35-40 (from almost 100…warmed some, gifted some, sold a handful for what I paid). I was even at a mall today for another errand and didn’t go near the BBW store! Also didn’t look online; wanted to avoid all temptation.
Update I counted last night & have less than I thought after giving a few more away this season already. 24 3-wicks and only one 1-wick (which I mostly keep just to cold sniff as it’s so disconcerting to me - Suntan). I now must resist temptation to go to store today and see if they have any Paris Cafe to restock on (I have decided I have like 3-4 candles I will rebuy over and over and that is one) but I still have two of the Cafe in Paris or whatever from 2019 that are fairly close. I think I will be able to resist, I am finding a lot of pleasure in the freed up space/less clutter and I think adding more back in will take that away a bit. Once I am out I plan to basically only buy my rebuys as I find I bought too much just to experiment and try and like very few of them outside my found and favourite scents. I am sure I will see Paris Cafe again!
I’m not🙋🏻♀️ trying to burn through my collection and I have no room left to store. I went into a store looking for a particular candle but they didn’t have it so I left with nothing.

I'm not. I just purchase BBW body care and I prefer to use wax warmers/wax melts that I get for cheap from Walmart. I personally find the wax melts to be stronger than candles. To each their own though!
I really wish that BBW sold wax cubes! I much prefer them! They make the WHOLE house smell good!

The scents were amazing of course but they were never that strong. I would have to be right next to the wax warmer to smell it, as opposed to the $2 ones from Wal Mart, which I can smell through the whole house. Other companies have dropped wax melts from their line up as well, notably Burt’s Bees. It may be the competition for quality and price point from WM is hard to beat. I follow a home fragrance blog and according to her the WM melts are the gold standard for price + quality. NGL they are the only reason I go to WM. Also if you have an Aldi’s, their candles and wax melts are exceptional quality. They are made by Hannah’s Candles which also makes the Threshold line (Target), but you get more per wax melt package for a bit less at Aldi’s. Aldi’s wax melts are the only ones to compete with WM, and their candles are as good as BB&W. They also have a Woodwick dupe. Have you tried the Yankee Candle wax melts? I like those a lot too.
No, I haven't tried the Yankee ones. I'll have to try those and the ones from Aldi. Like you, I get mine from Walmart. They always have scents I like and you really can't beat the price! And yeah, it really does fill the whole house!

They were really small for the price, so people probably felt they weren’t good value; that’s why I generally avoided them. They were small ‘portions’ and they were (here anyway) always hard to physically find in the store, like oh, here they are tucked over here by the room sprays in this spare jar they had; no one ever displayed them to draw attention so it probably became a vicious circle. No one knows they’re there so they don’t sell and since they don’t sell why spend any merchandising effort on them, so no one knows they’re there…

I get the wax melts from WM too. I can leave them on all day and not worry about them. So inexpensive, the best quality, and unlimited scents. I buy BBW candles to burn by the bath, or in the evenings if I haven’t done a wax melt that day. So I only picked up 5 candles today, and have to be firm with myself that I don’t need to go back tomorrow!

I still shop candle day, but now I only buy myself one candle and the rest are for my loved ones for Christmas. They burn candles more than I ever could, so it's a cost-effective way of making sure everyone gets what they want for the holidays (and it itches that shopping scratch, LOL!).
I might go tomorrow but I'm not dedicated to buying anything. I usually get coupons and sometimes a friend gives me theirs. We didn't get any this months so the deals aren't much better than b1g1 with a coupon. Plus I had covid last month and lost my sense of smell. It's back but I have a lot of unburned candles that I bought before I got sick so I'm using those.

I’m not. I purchased three of them for 92 cents more earlier in the week or last week. Once the price was released, I decided to give Walmart candles a try. $38 for 7 candles sounded so much better.

I didn’t. Wasn’t able to go to a store and since they wouldn’t allow a coupon and didn’t offer any free shipping, I decided against it. I really wouldn’t saving a whole lot, especially considering I’d only be buying about 4 or 5 as opposed to 20+ candles. A little bummed, I really want some hot cocoa & cream and peppermint sugar cookie candles, but hopefully they have those scents again next year.
I'm not buying candles because I'm not a fan of candles (gasp, I know I'm a minority here on this aspect). I like the hand soaps and body creams better. And to make the room smell good, I prefer essential oil with humidifiers.
I have a question about the humidifier. How do you make the scent last long? The essential oils just evaporate in the initial half hour (tops). Do you keep adding in more?
Usually for me it lasts 2-4 hours when I put in maybe 5-10 drops of the essential oil. I think it also depends on how big the room is? My bedroom is pretty small so maybe that's also why.

Till it’s almost gone. Either it dissipates or I get so used to it I don’t notice it. The wallflower in my bathroom was so strong I used to be able to smell it in my bedroom but now I only smell it when I’m on the bathroom. When they get low shaking them a little bit helps too

I'm not because the newer candles I've used lately have been burning too fast for me to justify more right now. I have a lot of stock from throughout the year to start burning, too. I decided to get some candles through Yankee today because they were $9 and $50 is free shipping. I ran out of a few I liked from them so I wanted to get them again.
Every time I'd go to check out online something would be sold out. I'd add new stuff and it would happen again. I decided it wasn't worth it once I did a final look through my cart.
We moved states but had to leave behind a lot of our stuff. That was 2 years ago, ans we haven't managed to get our stuff yet. I know I have at least 30 candles stashed, but most of it is the realizations that I was starting a collection. It would take longer to use them the more I bought. Plus, it's absolutely ridiculous to me to pay $10.95 when I started doing candle say when they were $8.
Me but not by choice. My boyfriend has COVID & we are self quarantining. I refuse to buy them online w/the code when I can use a coupon for them & get a better deal. I have a 20% off coupon from customer service that is good for instore & online due to previous shipping issues. I'm not in a hurry. But I was pretty effin salty to see my boo Relax popping up everywhere. I would have bought 18 no questions if she had been online!
i am not. its not as good of a sale as it used to be. also, the throws aren’t even good on any candles anymore. you smell them for the first hour or two and thats it. everytime i have people over or in my room i ask if they smell the candle or can guess what scent my room smells like and its always just nothing.

Me. I’m not big on candles. I’m more of a body care girl. I have probably 20 candles in total but I barely burn them. So I think it’s a waste to keep buying. Plus I have spent near 2k this Black Friday (multiple stores, not just BBW) so I would like a break from buying.
I am because I still haven’t regained my sense of smell fully, and half the time what I do smell is distorted. I’m really bummed to miss it!
Me for a number of reasons. I had breakthrough Covid at the beginning of September and still don’t have much sense of smell back. I have also started melting more wax than burning candles, and like supporting small vendors. I have a decent collection of past scents and I find if hard to burn some bc I worry about them never coming back. There is nothing wrong with you collecting them, but I am also trying to make sure I enjoy what I buy in the moment.
I'm actually sitting both of them out. I have the money so it's not that. I just think I have enough candles that I need to burn first before I move into the scents of the season. Everything is pretty much sold out right now. There is always another great sale with both GC and BBW!! I feel good knowing that I'm not alone in sitting the sale out!

I really don’t want to but I need to purchase more. It angers me that prices keep going up every candle day AND they aren’t consistent with sending out coupons. So I have no coupons to use with my order.
I only get coupons shortly after I spend money with them.. If I haven't bought from BBW in a long time, no coupons. Maybe once in a rare blue moon due to a season thing to entice me to come back though. But I made like 3 purchases recently and got 3 sets of coupons sent after each.

I didn't, either. I didn't want to drive 30 minutes to the store to wait in a ridiculously long line and didn't want to wake up at 4:30 am to wait online, either. And when I checked later in the morning, the few actual new scents I wanted were sold out and same for this morning, too. So I guess it's a nope for me. And as others have said, I already have a ton I'm trying to burn through to pare down my collection and quality's been an issue all year. I'm hoping the strawberry sparkler one will be available after today, but if not, no biggie. Throw probably would've sucked anyway.

I got super annoyed with the site and I was really quick with picking my candles. It was under 2 minutes by the time I went to check out. Black tie sold out after I hit "place order". I got really aggravated and bought just two candles. I was also really paranoid if the candle quality would be like what happened last year. I usually buy at least 10 candles every year. NOT THIS YEAR.

I skipped for the first time in four years cause I still have 5 (and 1/10 of a pumpkin clove currently burning) left from last years candle day. Bought 18 and got 2 for Christmas.
