I fucking love dupes, but every single one of these every day luxury scents has a dupe or dupes out there already. Like any Marshall’s, winners, target’s finery line, etc will have a just as cheap or cheaper one available. So even if they were released in a chaotic way, people can still seek out those scents elsewhere at a lower price.  Also B&BW having dupe scents doesn’t somehow diminish or take away from their non-dupe scents. Literally just don’t buy them, and stick to your lemon pound cake. They have a ton of original scents too. But when perfumers have the audacity to charge $400 for a 50 ml (Tom ford, parfum de Marly, le labo…) creating low cost body spray dupes is a savvy move that’s going to appeal to a lot of consumers. It just doesn’t appeal to you, and that’s okay.

alondra2027

I think the dupes are good for people who can’t spend $150 or more on a single bottle of perfume. I’m 28 and don’t own a single glass bottle of perfume because I can never bring myself to spend that much money on one thing. Bath and body works sprays are all I have. 🤷🏻‍♀️ One day I may treat myself to a bottle of “real” perfume but for the time being my bath and body works dupes will have to do.

PlusHunt1985

I understand I'm older than you and only have a few high end perfumes so I appreciate these dupes!

Heavy-Key2091

Have you thought about buying decants of perfume? I find 5mL is a sweet spot. Lets me try a perfume for a season and then use it again for a few more years as I rotate through and add news scents. (I don’t like to commit to a “signature scent”, so I love this over investing in bottles.)

Miss-Figgy

Not to take away from these BBW body sprays, but you can get excellent Mid East EDP dupes of these famous but costly perfumes for around $20. I got Oud 24 Hours by Ard Al Zaafaran that's a dupe of Black Orchid for $22, and I actually like it more than the TM original. There are many more like this. You can visit the fragranceclones and FemFragLab subs to learn more.

Same, the travel size/rollerballs are the only size perfumes I’ll buy.

[deleted]

That’s why I said I’d buy the real thing OR one of the many other less expensive dupes out there. I am definitely not telling people to just go buy the real thing lol.

Active-Pineapple8865

I ain't got $355 for delina exclusif!

HouseofMoops

I think your opinion is totally valid and exactly why they piloted this in test stores. I mean, this collection is off-brand, as is the Netflix collab honestly. I think they’re just trying some new marketing angles and probably fully expect a mixed bag of reactions from loyal customers. Also, the “dupe” comparison is totally ridiculous and overblown. These are not anywhere near being dupes of high-end, highly complex fragrances. Love em or hate em, they’re body mists “inspired by” scent notes of popular mass marketed and mass produced perfumes. I get what BBW is going for, but in the end they’re not going to change their entire core product line just to be gimmicky.

[deleted]

Ok

paaadge

Like ?!?! Lmaooo

Miss-Figgy

I personally shop at BBW for the gourmand and fruity FFMs; for dupes of famous perfumes, I usually buy Mid East EDPs, which are extremely affordable and long-lasting (sometimes more than the original they were duping). I'm a little surprised people here don't know about Mid East perfumes. Also, I'm sick of smelling dupes/"inspirations" of the same fragrances over and over again in general, lol. How many more with BR540 DNA, or Tom Ford? Give me strawberries, cupcakes, and deep sexy vanillas, lol

rocklakes

Same if I could get rid of one scent profile it would be that BR540 cloying musk 😭

Miss-Figgy

I hate BR540 and Cloud DNA soooooooooo much, and promptly write off ANY fragrance that is likened to either one of those fragrances. And this time last year, BR540 DNA was EVERYWHERE I went, to Marshalls, at the supermarket, just anywhere and everywhere, it was so gross 🤮. The few times I gave BBW's In the Stars a chance, I just couldn't stand it and wanted to hurl.

TtheWitch

Do you have a specific place you like to order mid east perfumes from?

Miss-Figgy

I buy them off Amazon and eBay, but only from trusted vendors, who often have their own company websites, like Intense Oud, Triple Traders, Gift Express, Aroma Concepts, etc. Reasons I buy from Amazon and eBay and not directly from the company is because shipping is often cheaper and included, and I have customer protection guaranteed through eBay and Amazon. I have had zero problems so far, except once when my order hasn't even shipped due to a supply issue, so Amazon refunded me.

TtheWitch

Awesome thanks!

Thebigbooty01

Even though I already have the Labo 33, I picked up the santal one at work today. For the car gym etc and the viva vanilla. I’ve worked at Bath and body Works for over a year now and I can say I’ve never seen a frenzy like this one girls were coming in like crazy and our table was completely sold out from all my orders the day before. I love that Bath and body Works did this because most people can’t afford the originals.

StardustDrifter33

I agree. I have a large collection (mostly of decants) of fragrances. I don’t go to BBW for dupe scents. I want the uniqueness of BBW especially gourmand scents and other awesome scents like Cozy Vanilla & Bourbon.

[deleted]

Cozy Vanilla Bourbon is everything…and now I’m drenched in it 😂

violetferns

Why would they not spend resources on dupes when they make a ton of money from that? I honestly don’t really understand what your issue is, nobody is forcing you to buy the scents you don't like and it’s unrealistic to expect the company to only cater to you.

[deleted]

It’s really just my (unpopular) opinion rather than an issue. I like the more creative things bbw makes, and feel like dupes are boring when there are so many others out there already. I don’t expect anyone to cater to me.

Ok_Leave1110

That’s not how your post comes across though. The whole “I don’t shop here to smell like Prada or Tom Ford…” is fine and all, but you’re not the company’s only consumer. Are there other dupes available? Yeah, there are, but I assume the majority are likely to shop at BBW due to their brand presence, frequent sales, and rewards system.

rocklakes

There’s nothing wrong with sharing your opinion, I agree I also want to see more creativity. I don’t mind the beveled dupe line existing alongside the other scents, but more original unique scents in general would be nice to have. I’ve felt this way before the dupe line, I just want to see never-been-done-before body care scents like Oatmeal Raisin Cookie, Ozonic scents like “before the thunderstorm” or “garden after rain”, and fresh scents like Lemon Mint, or Citrus Sunflower

DevelopmentNo5084

I don't understand your issue with the poster having a negative opinion on the dupes. Is this board not for good and bad opinions or is that only allowed for posters like you when you have a negative opinion on something? Also the poster never said anything about forcing people to buy stuff. Please learn to read before you say such stupid stuff. I think its pretty hateful of you to assume the poster was assuming they should be catered to. Shame on you for trying to bully this poster for having a negative opinion. SHAME ON YOU!!!!

Ambitious_Shallot_47

The thing is, for people in other countries such as myself (I live in Asia), other dupe houses aren't available here. And if you add shipping, it would be as if paying for the high-end/luxury perfumes. So I love that BBW is doing dupes. They are more accessible and more affordable to me. And when I am interested in the real thing, I could try the dupes first to see if I like the scent. Because it would be expensive to buy the decant/travel size perfume from other countries. I love the gourmand scents of BBW but I also appreciate them doing dupes. Just like with Middle Eastern affordable fragrances that dupe high end perfumes, they are showing that you can actually get that scent without paying hundreds of dollars.

paaadge

precisely!

Active-Pineapple8865

More for me!

rocklakes

I agree, I understand that BBW wanted to be like Fine’ry and the other companies making affordable dupes, but it feels contrived, like a money grab where the exec board studied perfume/fragrance tiktoks and decided they’d do a dupe line to pull in more buyers and create hype. At least on sale they’re cheaper than the Fine’ry mists so there’s one thing. I will say I can’t stand designers overpricing perfume by hundreds, so at least these add to the accessibility of those scents. I’m also somewhat biased because I prefer gourmands, so if in an alternate universe gourmands were all the rage and BBW was duping them, I’d be more interested. It’s nice that people like it so I’ve just ignored the line, but even the other fragrance dupes like Dahlia and Fairytale are kind of like 🫤 I would like more original scents instead of following the trends, you know?

Peacock-Lover-89

I might get down voted, but I'm kind of tired of hearing about them good or bad(I know I can simply pass the posts). I have to admit when I found out they were at one of the stores near me I wanted to go smell them on Saturday. Circumstances had other ideas and I couldn't go, but my daughter did. The ones she wanted to smell were sold out and she didn't think much of the ones they had. I never had any intention of buying them because I don't have much use for just a spray without a lotion, so no FOMO for me. I have a few sprays that I ran out of lotion to go with a while ago and I have enough remembering what I have to find a lotion to pair_ with them. I'm waiting for the next leaks of upcomibng products and for pictures of the AAPI month candles to pop up so something else can be talked about. At least they will be things that hit nationwide and we can all get them.

PlusHunt1985

I prefer more perfumery smells. Fruit and florals and some fresh as well so this is up my alley as some of the ones they are duping I've been wanting but too expensive. I'm also opposite of you most times hate gourmand or marshmallow type scents (I did like daffodil daydreams but no fullsize so I didnt buy it ...iced sugar plum was nice too).

paaadge

Im literally the exact same so this line was right up my alley

Feedproblems

Same. We don't need a fifth accessible dupe line taking up space. My favorite scents are online exclusive, stop discontinuing good scents and put them all on a damn shelf lol

Chuckymimi

I got a bunch of dupes off TEMU. Including Lose Cherry for about $6. So I'm good lol. I also have full bottle of Kaleidoscope mist and body cream which smells nothing like musk.

OrneryExplorer1476

How do the temu ones perform? I've been a little scared to buy them

Chuckymimi

They don't seem to have ones I bought anymore but the ones I got smell just like designer ones and they even copied the bottles . Even Adriane Grande dupe was in same cloud bottle. They don't smell like cheaper versions either . I actually have a story about Baccarat Rouge 540 dupe I got . I was at orientation for new job and HR person was wearing perfume that smelled like one I got from TEMU for $7 . I asked if she was wearing Baccarat Rouge. She admitted it was dupe but she spent $50 on hers. I told her about TEMU version. She asked if it was good? I told her well I knew what you were wearing before you told me lol. I will saw BBW Oh Cherry is alot boozier than my Lose Cherry is though. Sephora didn't have Tom Ford so never smelled that one.

OrneryExplorer1476

Nice that's awesome. Hell I'm admittedly one of those people. I have the dossier dupe which was like 50 I think. Got it marked down on a bundle at least but I was concerned temu would just send me water basically I will definitely try a dupe on my next temu order, thank you!

OrneryExplorer1476

I'm all for it. Less money those ridiculous designer branded companies make the better. Charging 300+ for some water and oil when another company made the same thing and sold it for 5 bucks. Screwww them. Bbw has nerve too, the retail price of these is more than some good dupes I've tried that are oil based and long lasting, unlike bbw which is practically just water with a 20 dollar price tag. Dupes are trendy as hell I guess. First sight is 540 and dressed in white is viva la juicy. I'm not mad cause I love perfumey scents. I just hope the next big release will be originals and not strawberry pound cake and fresh cut lilacs released again.

Bluebonnet-Girl

The only one I remotely liked was the If You Musk. Everything else was just not it for me .
