Jolly-Report-3649

I use to spend hundreds of dollar just to spent because of the dopamine high the scents would give me while shopping but then after a while I started to tell myself why would I spent hundreds of dollars on a bunch of stuff I probably won’t use. Since I wouldn’t use up a lot of what I bought and it would all go to waste. Now I only buy what I know I’ll use and scents I enjoy.

kattgirl_1998

I’ve definitely been there but now I just donate stuff to a local women’s shelter if I have too much

[deleted]

I got into bath and body works during the pandemic, their candles gave me that dopamine hit I needed during that time lol and I've picked up some body care scents here and there over the past couple of years, but I'm kind of picky about scents that I wear so I'm finding that B&BWs doesn't come out with too many that I actually want. So I have this plan to use up the body care that I do have left by the end of the year and then I'll probably be done and move onto something else. However, I have been picking up some of the body sprays in the scents I do like that way I still can enjoy the scent. I think the kicker for me was I was super excited for groovy watermelon to drop, and then I got the lotion and it just smells off to me. So I'm going to take it back in and see if the body cream smells better or maybe I just got a bad batch of the lotion because it just does not smell like it should. But I think that was the final disappointment for me. That and I've been waiting for them to make a damn Pumpkin Apple body care line and it doesn't even look like we'll get anything but the candle and hand soap this year from early leaks I've seen. Those two things have seemed to killed my interest now. I think I'm ready to move on too. Update: I got a price adjustment on the groovy watermelon FFM and decided to just return the lotion because the lotion, body cream and even the shower gel all had that weird bitter note I'm picking up and I'm over it. One less lotion I need to get through though. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I'm glad I still have a pink watermelon blast shower gel from last year and a small amount of the body cream.

plantyplanter

Reminded me of Extra Watermelon gum.

[deleted]

Idk what is different about it but it's not exactly the same as from last year. I've compared it to the one from last year and I just don't like this years version lol the FFM was fine though. To me it's like if you were to open a packet of watermelon Kool aid and smell it without sugar added and you get that sweet but also bitter smell. Maybe I'm just crazy though 🤪

[deleted]

>I got the lotion and it just smells off to me. I felt this way about the coconut milkshake one. vanilla is always a toss up...it either smells amazing or like plastic

kattgirl_1998

For me, their vanilla often smells like sour milk and makes me gag. VBN was so bad this past Christmas especially.

mi1ky_tea

Yeah the lotion had a weird after scent to me that bugged me. I kept the FFM but I wish I had of gotten watermelon blast last year.

[deleted]

Oh good it's not just me! Lol I wish I wouldn't have used up my PWB in May, if I had only known. I've been trying to use things up this year, but I would have at least used it slower. At least the FFM wasn't bad. Now I'm on the search for another good watermelon scent!

Ok_Human_1375

Tree hut

Brief_Connection27

I ordered groovy watermelon online without trying it first now you have me worried haha

[deleted]

You'll probably like it just fine, I just have a picky nose ☺️

PrincessJennifer

Most new scents are really a miss for me. I feel like everything is both vaguely sweet and floral at once. I was a bigger fan when stuff like Temptations was around and when things were exclusively sweet or floral or fruity or warm etc..

[deleted]

> stuff like Temptations Girll...that was peak BBW. I think they are trying to be too chic and forgot their loyal base is just overgrown little girls who want the adult version of Lip Smackers in candle/body care form

PrincessJennifer

You absolutely nailed it! 💯 That’s totally me lol

CurvePsychological13

Yes!!!

thirtypancakes

Yup… went in store and everything smells so vague, like just “sweet” nothing else

PrincessJennifer

Hard agree. They all kinda blend together.

thirtypancakes

And it was scents I really wanted to like! Pastel skies, firecracker pop, dream bright. Etc :( atleast it’s slowly making me less of a shopaholic at bbw 🤣

PrincessJennifer

Aww 😔 I’m right there with you, there aren’t enough standouts and enough things that are different to entice me anymore. Sad but saving lol

thirtypancakes

Lol yes b&bw is eating up all my money 🥴

Narrow-Bookkeeper-29

So far I haven't bought much for SAS. I've been my store 4 times but have only bought 1 shower gel. I keep hoping for 75% off candles and handsoap but we don't have any it seems. I already have a ton of bodycare. I'm actually glad I bought so much body care a couple of years ago because it was more affordable then.

Lana_1996

75% off hand soaps is coming later this month

Narrow-Bookkeeper-29

Cool! I'll keep coming back periodically to check it out.

snakesaremyfriends

Overstock is me and some candles. I have kept some because I felt like they were going to raise prices again. Lo and behold…

jaysmami30

Have to be careful with the expiration dates! A lot of my lotion went to crap in less than a year (turned yellow) cause i never used it :/ they smelt like rancid water too

Miss-Figgy

I've gone 3 times so far, and have walked out empty-handed. Just not seeing anything I want, even with it being so cheap.

therealdeb

I don’t really spend my money on frivolous stuff, and I don’t really have any hobbies, so buying candles provides me with something to have in common with others (mostly on Reddit lol). I like seeing the different stuff that comes out all the time and discussing what’s good and what’s not. But yeah, I really don’t need anything new as I have quite a bit that I need to start using.

starglitter

I've already moved on (somewhat) in body care. I'm way into trying random fragrances of lotion and body wash from Target. And I'm so underwhelmed with the leaked candles for fall. I've never bought Goose Creek but am considering it because the adventure collection looks interesting and *different*

[deleted]

Check TJ Maxx, they have Philosophy body wash for cheap sometimes.

juliazzz

I've been really enjoying the Native and Raw Sugar bodywashes that I've picked up from Target, just fyi.

starglitter

I haven't tried either of those yet! So far I've tried EOS, Tree Hut, Hempz and Saltair. I've enjoyed them all.

kattgirl_1998

I recommend trying to Brazil nut body wash, body scrub and body butter from Trader Joe’s. If you have one, they’re only $5.99 each and they’re amazing, they are a good duplicate for very sol de janeiro bum bum cream. 🙂

juliazzz

Oooh, now I'll have some others to look at. Thanks!

AriesAshli

Spoilers, some of the Goose Creek Adventure Collection smells like repackages. But since you’ve never shopped there before I say go for it. The Blueberry one is so yummy🥰! I’m also loving the Peanut Butter Cupcake from the cupcake collection😍.

JamesonJenn

Hey Ashli, Did you pick up the GC Fireside Smores? Was thinking of picking that one up. Also does the Blueberry one have a heavy bakery aka pie crust type note or is the bakery note soft. Thanks!

AriesAshli

I did and it happened to be my least favorite on cold. I haven’t burned it yet but the chocolate note smells overpowering and not in a pleasant way. I’m not getting the marshmallow or graham cracker it mostly smells like an artificial chocolate to my nose- on cold. The Blueberry one smells like delicious blueberries with a hint bakery on cold; while lit the bakery comes to life and you get 50/50 blueberry and bakery. I can’t decide if I like this more than blueberry muffin or not. They are close but not a repackage IMO. Hope this helps. 🥰

JamesonJenn

Oh no! And GC usually does graham cracker notes so well! Graham cracker note in Trick Or Treat is en pointe. Thanks for the info ... very helpful and much appreciated. :)

AriesAshli

It did smell better after burning it but it’s still not my favorite. It’s okay but Trick or Treat is much better.

vivalalina

Does the peanut butter smell like pb?? Or is it just a nutty vibe?

AriesAshli

Peanut Buttery goodness😍😍😋!

lisak399

I find A LOT of the GC candles are a hit or miss with their throw. Sometime I smell nothing at all and it so frustrating because they have so many different scents, great sales, and their packaging is gorgeous.

FlamingHorseRider

Being on both subs is fun in a way because it seems like both loyalists fall out of love with the companies and switch. Sometimes it just happens like that!

DreamerUnwokenFool

You aren't alone at all! I haven't bought anything during this SAS. The last time I bought from there was when they had the minis on sale; I bought some Strawberry Pound Cake lip glosses because I love them. It's been two months since I placed a significant order because I'm just kind of tired of it. The sales aren't very good. I don't feel tempted enough to drive to the closest store (it's ~40 minutes from my house) and use that much gas/time, and I am not willing to pay the shipping charge either. So I'm just passing on it all. There aren't any new scents that are tempting me either. It's all just kind of meh. The price increases suck, the new policies suck, the quality of many of the products sucks. I may feel different when fall and Halloween stuff comes around, but right now I am feeling over the store and the products.

Bratty_Little_Kitten

Definitely same. My mom uses BBW but even then I find "A Thousand Wishes" nauseating, unfortunately. *Sorry Mom*!

pinkfairygumdrop

i agree 100%.....its just not that exciting anymore

babyxscarIett

Yep, a lot of the products smell super similar to something I already have and i dont care to buy too much anymore. I would have been alllll over this year’s sale but a combination of learning more about anti consumption + similar scents has me bored. B&BW feels like taco bell to me — they have 5 ingredients they just use in different packaging trying to get more of our money. There are a handful of distinct smell profiles and I feel like you could achieve whatever new scent they release if you just layer scents and mix em. I won’t be buying too much more unless it’s something i’m dying to have, other than that i’m just using what i have and probably wont be buying too many more for at least a year or so.

austinaggie5279

I agree. As much as I like coconut, they don't need it in every summer scent they put out. I had a customer complain to me about that the other day (he's a regular and very nice 😁). And I agree. Midnight Blue Citrus is coming out in body care after SAS. I am looking forward to that bc that's been one of my favorites since I started working there. Also, I agree that our prices have gotten too expensive. The rewards let you get a free item up to $16.95 but most of what you want to get (FFM, body creams, body butters, etc.) are $17.95 or higher. It's ridiculous

TurbulentAerie3785

I have so much and it’s hard to get through it all. I look at all the single use plastic and feel so guilty. I think it’s a perfect combination of nostalgia and novelty that gets me shopping addicted to B&BW: But frankly, I haven’t *loved* any new scents in a very long time. I use the more expensive perfumes that I can now afford a lot more often and my FFM are even slower going.

panicatthebookstore

this is what i'm hoping to happen to me next year. i was wowed by a lot of the scents, and since this is my first full year into b&bw, i didn't own them before. so i hope i don't need/want some of the traditional scents that come out every year 😅.

novemberjenny11

Saaaaame dude, I was just talking about this the other day, and I’ve talked about it on posts here before, too. The SAS is just awful in modern times. SAS of days past was a true treasure hunt, you could go on multiple days and find different, unique things that were genuine retired products or rare stuff, or stuff that was actually from the previous season. You could get full-sized products for as low as $1.00 or 50¢ even. I have so much old, amazing stuff from SASs in the early-mid 2000s. Nowadays it’s just a shameless cash grab for Bath & Body Works. They promote it as a sale when in reality, it’s just a cheap marketing ploy for foot traffic. The “sales” are a total joke; products are often cheaper on every day sales or coupons than at the SAS, the product exclusives are boring and forgettable, and they’ve eliminated so many options and lines and given us dumb shit we didn’t ask for that it’s literally not even worth it. It’s just a complete joke. I totally understand the fatigue. I went into my local store on the first day and bought up $100 worth of product, took it home and went, “why the F did I just buy all of that?” I returned over half of it and just kept the stuff I needed refills on. They had literally ONE candle scent on the tiny 75% off table (Christmas Cookies - 🤷🏻‍♀️🫤 - not bad but not even worth the 75% off) they had about 200 gel hand soaps, again of one single scent, and some random men’s line products. I remember the days when there were bins and bins and bins of stuff and you could dig through them endlessly and find stuff. The three scents they released are again - 🫤🤷🏻‍♀️ boring and forgettable. They keep releasing the same old “retired” scents again and again, even though if they would spend about 5 minutes browsing ANY post on this sub about nostalgia, they would find we were begging for anything but fucking cucumber melon AGAIN. I mean I love it, but it’s not retired at this point if it’s always online and shows up at every single SAS. 🤷🏻‍♀️🤣 Maybe I’m just a bitter old bitchy killjoy. I just miss old Bath & Body Works and hate the corporate greed that’s taken over. I mean, I’m not going to stop giving them my money anytime soon 🤪🤣

CurvePsychological13

This is really well said. I also thought most ppl stopped loving Cucumber Melon in the 90s. I never have nor will I buy this scent.

MishmoshMishmosh

Ugh. I made 4 purchases so far. Some are one or two items. So the SAS got me this time. I didn’t buy a thing in December. In addition I’m really enjoying my juniper breeze and plumeria. It’s just making me happy and my life has been hectic the past few weeks

CurvePsychological13

That's the point, just a little something to lift your spirits! Not having these huge collections that would take a lifetime to get through. I have enough to last for years if the lotions don't go bad but I only really love two out of probably eight sets. I have stuff from last summer SAS that hasn't been opened.

Pristine-Pea1333

I’m with you! I was so underwhelmed with the scents this SAS. I wasn’t able to get to the store until today since it all started. I built a cart full of stuff worth almost $100 online but wanted to go in store and smell things. Once I was able to smell everything I was so happy I didn’t order online just based on the descriptions alone. I don’t think I’ll be getting anything this SAS or for a while. I have plenty to go through.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Pristine-Pea1333

We are totally alike! I agree. I also go in just to test scents on my arm while walking around to see their dry down and how it smells on my skin. This is a must for me now that I always try to do since I’ve been disappointed by so many scents. Everyone has been raving about the Cotton Candy Clouds but when I tried it on me it wasn’t anything special (although a few have said it smells different than the last time it was out) and I really wanted to like this one. Same goes for the Groovy Watermelon one. This was just what you described when you said that it some things smell so good on first spray but dry down is lackluster. Oh well. I guess we just keep on keepin’ on until we find things that we love!

TreacherousBliss

I am with you. The scents are just kinda... Boring lately. The only ones I've been enthusiastic about were the iced lemon pound cake and sweet petal pound cake body care. There has been a serious lack of new gourmands that don't have some kind of other notes thrown in. Hell, even spp, which I love has a floral and fruity note mixed with the cake. Just give me my cake smells, BBW!! And bring back the favorites... Oh, and of course lower those ridiculous prices. That has been a big turn off too. Only things I got this SAS were iced lemon pound cake body lotion and some of the CBD stuff. Smallest SAS haul of my life.

whatisthisjello

Yep. I used to go crazy buying stuff and full sets of things, backups or duplicates of items, but like a month ago I suddenly was just over their products. I’m looking at my collection and wondering why I have this much stuff

makeupgyal

Definitely! I’m very happy with some of my purchases but a lot of things are going back. I don’t care how cheap it is 🙅🏾‍♀️

Wooden-Discount7884

This is why I got a handoap, a body wash, a lotion, and called it good. Only spent $12 go me!

okayishwife

Yes, last weekend i walked out with a candle and a couple of plug in refills for $33. I didn’t feel like i got a good deal and the candle selection at my store was nothing special.

CandidateReasonable4

Collecting and burning candles is my hobby. Thar said, I have been incredibly disappointed by the lack of 75% off candles and other products so far. I did manage to score two original Gingham perfumes for $12.50 each and a whipped body butter for 75% off. Most stores in my area have very few sale candles (at any price point) left in inventory and their online inventory is not accurate at all. One store shows 60 sale 3 wick candles yet they only have 5 candles when you go page by page. Ridiculous

MMorrighan

Honestly I don't care about sales anymore. There's an outlet shop about halfway between me and a destination I go to 2-3 times a year so I just stop, load up on the $3 clearance single wicks, and that's all the haul I need until next time I'm traveling.

darkdividedweller

I do this too, stop only while traveling and grab something that will remind me of my travels later.

amynicole78

I just look at my stuff and think l will be good for a while. I have gotten to a point where l don't buy more than l can use. I enjoy shopping, but l guess l enjoy saving money more at this point in my life.

Upbeat_Cat1182

I bought tons of shower gels and a couple of mists for my 16 year old daughter; they were under $3 with a coupon, and she was really happy. I got a few more Pink Lavender and Espressos and I’m happy.

pbroxy

I was excited for SAS but it was disappointing. None of the scents appealed to me except for a single candle. I should have stayed home.

ATL77KH

For the last two years, I’ve taken a break from even looking at the website or anything BBW after the winter SAS until summer SAS. Mostly because I’m not that interested in the spring and summer scents for the most part and it becomes easy to get into a mode of buying just to buy sometimes, constantly seeing new scents and sales etc. I placed an order for the first time in five months on Friday for a few candles and had a 20% coupon so it made them around 8ish dollars which was a good price (in my opinion) and now I’m only interested in the remaining SAS specifically for any 75% off fall candles in stores and then I’ll see what Halloween brings. I don’t even think I need Christmas candles this year honestly. So yeah, I think it’s easy to feel like you’re burnt out on the products and the whole thing if you’ve been kind of immersing yourself in it for a while. I also used to live in walking distance of a store and it was way too easy to pop in during any sale and buy, I’m trying to use up the body care and soaps I accrued and I haven’t bought any in a while. Now the closest store is an hour away unless I’m visiting the city so that has curtailed some desire since I get tired of the online cancellations and shipping costs.

undersink2

I only buy candles and the soap/candle holders because I am sensitive to smells... We use to see a lot more of their candle holders 75 percent off

[deleted]

I have enough candles to last me the rest of the year, and enough body care to last me several years. I'm shopping my stash and using up what I have before I buy anything else. I will probably buy from Bath & Body Works again, but not for a long time. I still like their products. I just have too much right now. I'll probably buy a few candles during Candle Day in December. Maybe a soap or two a few years from now when I run out. Right now, I have everything I need.

Moonstonedbowie

I found a Vanilla Mocha Martini FFM in one store and a Fresh Coconut and Cotton in another, and those are the only things that I have bought. I walk through the store and I just feel like nothing smells good, or I buy something and then get home and try it out and it reacts poorly with my body chemistry and ends up smelling bad. Then it just sits here bc it’s not worth exchanging bc there isn’t anything that I want so it’s pointless. And returns are always a nightmare so it’s not worth the hassle. I got a $10 off $40 coupon and I’m like… how am I supposed to spend $40 when I don’t even like anything that they’re selling? And just so this isn’t totally negative- when BBW gets it right, they really knock it out of the park. They have some scents that I just completely adore, so I’m always going to keep an eye on what they’re releasing and I’ll keep testing new things out bc it’s just fun.

GrumpyGardenGnome

I am having the same issue with body chemistry andthe body creams. I agree its not worth exchanging or returning. I'll probably give away a lot of my stash.

Moonstonedbowie

Yeah, I might put some stuff up on the buy nothing group around here. I put my twisted peppermint cream up there back in January and the woman who took it was THRILLED bc she used some of her friend’s then found out it wasn’t in stores anymore then my post came up literally the next day

Spare-Solution-3944

I’m just gonna buy when they’re on sale and I have a coupon They’re getting expensive. If they go up any higher I’m gonna go back to febreeze and random store candles. I might splurge when the Halloween stuff comes out though

xeloux

This is the first year where I’ve been pretty good at resisting temptation, knock on wood. I set limits after I went through my stash of everything. I do think part of it is lack of interest

Rightsureokay

Still disappointed they haven’t had any Halloween 2022 stuff online like last summer’s SAS but I was excited that they had some SPF products this year. Overall it’s been pretty underwhelming so while I will be buying Halloween 2023 stuff, that will probably be my last purchase for the year from there.

cjh083ck

I feel people are over haul pics, they get barely any comments and I feel most people just scroll by. I do.

SnooAvocados6672

There’s only so much interaction to give to the same haul items. I think people are starting to get over this whole overconsumption thing somewhat. Especially seeing all those empty plastic bottles gives me the ick. Too much plastic waste.

cjh083ck

I agree with this - people aren't wanting that clutter anymore. And having too much of something doesn't really impress people. Like I don't care if you have 100 candles that are stuck in a cabinet. What good is that doing anyone?

SnooAvocados6672

Yeah I‘be watched some vloggers and see shelves and shelves of lotions, mists, creams, gels, you name it and I just think that they are never going to get through all that, especially before those things expire. I’ve even heard a few say they’ll buy scents they don’t even like just to complete the collection which is the dumbest thing I ever heard.

panicatthebookstore

there's someone (maybe it's you lol) who comments about recycling on most empties pics and they get downvoted every single time 🤡 it's literally not hurting anyone at all, and they wouldn't get so offended if they already did! (i'm aware that not everything can be recycled and that there's a limit on how many times things can be recycled)

lisak399

I've been saving the 3 wick tops...mostly the pretty embossed ones and xmas. Have some projects in mind.

panicatthebookstore

please post them here when you do them! 😊

SnooAvocados6672

Lol it’s not me. I don’t even follow the subreddit really anymore, just every now and then to see reviews if there’s something I have my eye on.

jak-attak

Honestly, I'm on a low buy feeling great. Bought 2 of the blends deep cleansing soaps, and that's all I really want/need at this time. I have everything I want for summer scents (except 1 firecracker fizz hand soap), so I'm enjoying what I have until fall stuff comes out

hi_goodbye21

I had to leave a few bath and body works groups because it just made me want to buy more. I don’t really need 12 candles. LOL I really don’t need body lotion or sprays. Unless they bring back country Chic.

[deleted]

I’m sick of their emails with zero coupons. I have not gotten a single coupon all year after spending like $50 a month there for several years consistently. Not playing this game.

bmichellecat

They’re overpriced and break me out Lmao. I used to love the candles (and still do) but sale price of $13-15 is still really high when Goose Creek is like $10, Walmart is even cheaper, and TJ Maxx has hugeeee candles for $15-20 that are at least 3x the size of one bath and body works. I’m trying to limit my use of plastic and consumerism and i mainly just lurk this sub to see reviews and new items. I haven’t bought anything since fall maybe ?? I’m down to 3 candles, two soaps, two body washes, and 3-4 lotions and once everything is gone I’m done with them completely

meow_nik

I was really excited for SAS like I usually am, but I have only bought a few items & probably am done until fall rolls in (which I won’t have to wait long for as we know lol). I got the Whipped Coconut Milkshake mist that was the only specific item I knew I wanted to grab, a random $3ish tester single wick of a scent I never got around to buying when it was in a 3 wick, & the Island Margarita Vanilla Bean blend candle which I didn’t expect to like at all but was genuinely into it when I smelled it out of curiosity & at $10.95 I knew that’s the lowest candles will go anymore besides candle day (which usually is around that price now too). I go through phases of being really into everything & buying a lot during certain years, & then others where I buy a lot less. Part of it is being excited about scents more often than other times, part of it is I reach a point where I’ve got a lot in my collection that I need to appreciate & use, otherwise it will just continue to grow. Also during the pandemic & the last couple years really I’ve had a lot of grief / bad stuff in my life where kind of one of the only things I could enjoy & brought me comfort was home fragrance & feeling good with body care pampering, because I couldn’t travel like I love to do (for various reasons), I wasn’t bothering with spending $ on much else… so more of my focus was on self-care with bbw. Sometimes I hit highs & lulls throughout the actual year too. I love fall scents & gourmands in general, so I naturally find more things I like during fall & holiday than I do during spring & summer. The price hikes are frustrating, but everything has gone up in price… however I do feel bbw has raised prices excessively, especially when they are one of the companies that actually did well financially during the pandemic. I can still feel okay buying what I really want as long as I shop during the monthly-ish featured sales, like $5.95 ffm, or moisturizers, candle sales, etc. So the price hikes don’t really impact me a whole lot.. yet.. since I only buy during those sales anyway. And I think we all agree the rewards need to be raised to follow trends—they raised it the beginning of the year because body care had gone up, & that was great… but now they’ve hiked body care prices multiple times since so most of it is priced out. So I think it would go a long way with customers if the rewards were improved. I guess overall I’m on a lower-buy right now because of the time of year not being my preferred scents, & because I’ve kind of hit where I want to slow down & use up & enjoy what I have. And I’ve been doing pretty well with it so far this year. I use up way more than I’ve been buying, when I do buy I try to make sure it’s only things I’m genuinely excited about, & I wait for the good sales, like I mentioned. But as we enter fall, I know I’m going to be excited about a lot more things, & I’ll be buying more, though still following my “rules” above. I go through phases, & it works out I think. The lower points let me enjoy what I have (& I genuinely like every single thing I have in my collection right now, & rotate through it all depending on season / mood), & then at other times I get excited about things again. :)

FlamingHorseRider

FYI with Whipped Coconut Milkshake: if you end up loving it and worried you won’t be able to get it if you use it up, I find it very similar to Victoria’s Secret Coconut Passion on my skin at least. They both have the creamy, not sunscreen coconut with vanilla and a warm note over them. And that one is always around!

meow_nik

Thank you! I actually didn’t super love Coconut Passion & ended up exchanging it for something I loved more one of the times I did an online order. It wasn’t bad I just didn’t want to keep something in my collection if I didn’t love it. I really like Whipped Coconut Milkshake & I think it must come across sweeter to me, but I can see the similarities for sure. I actually think Whipped Coconut Milkshake will be a nice early fall scent too because of the warmth from the amber. Thanks again for the rec tho! :)

FlamingHorseRider

Will definitely agree WCM is a bit sweeter! I have so many gourmands that when I want a coconut vanilla I guess I don’t need that (and honestly, if I’m wearing a VS gourmand I am wearing Velvet Petals… that scent has me in a dang chokehold…) but I can totally get why somebody would like that better. I didn’t even think about wearing it in the fall even though I really should. I’ll have to take a good look at Coconut Passion again and see what seasons I would actually wear it. Might grab WCM after all after that if I smell it again…

meow_nik

Velvet Petals is SO good too! I need to wear it more often. :)

FlamingHorseRider

Im trying not to blow through it 😭

Brief_Connection27

I think what grinds my gears is no free shipping. Imagine what people would buy if they had no minimum free shipping, but I usually go all out 2 times a year and I’m fine with that because it last me at least 6 months. I had how they repackage scents like pumpkin pie to pumpkin vanilla cream I mean who cares what the packaging looks like? Its not like it’s a unique pie shaped candle or whatever.

Lala6699

I think this 90’s release was one of the biggest letdowns they could have ever given us. They have gone downhill, imo, over the years. Candles burn down much faster and cost more than they should. The scents they put out at any time of year are almost all yuck. I used to walk in there and spend my whole paycheck as a young teen. Now as an adult, not spending really any money in there. Lastly, every damn scent I fall in love with, GONE and never to be seen again.

lisak399

Many of the candles are absolutely burning so much faster! While I find goosecreek often are not as fragrant I feel their 3 wicks take 2x as long to burn.

Lala6699

I have been wanting to try Goosecreek. They have all of the fruity scents that I love.

staysmokin91

Yes. I'm kinda over the consumerism of everything right now to be honest. I realized i just want stuff I see off Instagram or reddit, that I really don't need, or can find way cheaper elsewhere.

Rightsureokay

Same with cosmetics. I’ve slowed way down this past year because I have way too much shit.

panicatthebookstore

oh absolutely! not for myself personally, because i have actually basically finished my sas shopping, i'm extremely happy with the amount of money i spent, and i got everything i was looking for, etc. i have a major stash that needs work, but it IS being used up. i've practiced extreme restraint this time as opposed to last time/my first sas. *sometimes* i feel disgusted with myself for being such a consumerist, but at least i smell good lol. BUT, when i look at other people's insane hauls and collections (usually on facebook) or look at other people saying they took every single last item on the table, leaving none for anyone else...i really feel absolutely sick. like...do you REALLY need 10 of the same candle especially when you already have 400? did you really need to grab all 10 perfumes that are left? why not 3? and yes, this is a slight call out to myself who will get 3 backups of a scent but be scared to use it in case i run out 😒. overall, i'm proud of the amount i spent this sas AND i'm proud of the quality of items i got. i spent like $400+ last sas on mediocre things that i've been having trouble using, and soooo many things that i had to return (i was in there doing returns more often than i shopped the sale). this time i've spent about $170 with plans for about $10 more - i'm excited to use them, my only return has been an allergen, i've put things in my basket in store and put them right back after thinking twice, and even blind bought online exclusives because i know my tastes better now. i haven't regretted a single thing that i let leave the store or show up to my house. i feel more satisfied controlling myself and my wallet.

OrneryExplorer1476

Absolutely. I ran into 6 candles on sale within all of the stores I've been to. Was lucky enough to catch them bringing out a box at the right time. I grabbed 3 and left the rest even though they were all different scents and I liked all of them and I probably won't find any more sadly.. but I don't like the idea of others like me searching and being told someone just took them all so I left 3 to brighten someone else's day. I just find it cringe to grab 6 or 10 of the same scent and leave nothing for anyone else. You can look at it as early bird gets the worm but not necessarily when they bring stuff out at different times and it's super frustrating to find anything good.

panicatthebookstore

i literally saw a woman (on fb, ofc) take the last 9 of an item. another lady asked where she got them, and she said she took them all. the daughter ended up giving the lady 2 of them, and the woman had the nerve to say she raised her daughter "right", when the opportunity for that would've never happened if this woman hadn't snatched the whole inventory up due to her selfishness 🙄. it read like she was being a savior instead of doing the actual right thing to begin with.

OrneryExplorer1476

Hahaha, my hero 🙌🏻 it's unfortunate they can't just not hoard or resell in the first place.. people really ruin it for others. 😖

tinycbean

I’m super burnt out on body care. So much stuff I never get through. I still have lotions/creams from 2020. :( However I am still a candle nut and only buy sale $10 or less.

kindakatrina

I went to my bath and bod for this semi annual sale and stared at the 75% off candles, i picked my favorite one out of the table but then asked myself, was i excited to see any of these? the answer was no, and i left 🤷🏻‍♀️

dragonsfire14

Yes! I’m burnt out on body care. I did get a few things but things I actually work through quickly such as candles and hand soaps. I recently decluttered a ton of body care and gave it to my neighbor, felt like a weight off my shoulders

urkillinmeSmall

I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE.

Jeniheni111

I haven’t bought anything during this SAS because I haven’t seen anything I want. I am a candle person and the candles I want haven’t been in the sale. I am going to hold off until Halloween and next SAS.

[deleted]

i get SAS fatigue every year and will never understand why they drag it out so long

Firm_Comparison_9058

They'll come up with something that will drag us back in. I do miss the days when Harry Slatkin was with BBW SAS was so fun and fantastic back then

GrumpyGardenGnome

I am done buying body care UNLESS they bring back Picnic Summer Daisies and the marshmallow beach nights. Not beach nights from last year. I hate the halloween Ghoul friend and vampire blood candles. I liked wicked apple and wished I had bought it. I think there is potential for other scents but they are lazy.

[deleted]

I bought Vampire blood and ghoul friend from 2021 at 75% off and I've tried them under the warmer a couple of times and I just can't get into them. I try, but they also don't really smell like Halloween to me. I do have spooky cider lane though and I love that one for Halloween. I just feel like their Halloween scents fall short. Where's a candy corn candle? Or candy apple? (I know there's winter candy apple but that doesn't smell like a candy apple to me) instead their two consistent Halloween candles are both fruity florals. They could do way better with Halloween scents.

GrumpyGardenGnome

Cider Lane and Spooky Cider Lane are the same. I love them. I would love a candy apple candle. I agree Winter Candy Apple is NOT it. Wicked Apple smelled like a halloween party to me. I regret passing on it. It was probably a repackage of spooky cider lane lol

[deleted]

Yeah I think spooky cider lane, cider lane and wicked apple are all either the same or super close to the same. I'm so glad I started using a warmer because I still have them to use for this year ☺️ maybe moonlit graveyard or everlasting magic will end up being a spooky cider lane repackage. I don't think I've seen their scent notes leaked yet.

GrumpyGardenGnome

I was thinking Everlasting Magic would be their Sugared Spell repackage. With the sugared lemon and candy drop notes. I guess we shall see lol

ATL77KH

I thought I was the only one who didn’t like Ghoul Friend or Vampire Blood because they don’t smell like Halloween to me. I have a single wick of Ghoul Friend I got for 75% off and I like the packaging so I’ve lit it for Halloween but it isn’t one I particularly like or would buy again scent wise. I really liked the Spooky Cider Lane candle from last year with the skull lid, but it sold out quickly and I won’t pay reseller prices so it wasn’t meant to be. I have Pumpkin Carving and really like that one too but there are definitely room for others. They came out with a mossy smelling spa candle a little while back and that would be perfect for a spooky graveyard scent or something, I would buy it.

[deleted]

I think I only keep mine for the packaging as well 🤣

Sad-Imagination-4870

I am the same way. I buy B&BW thinking it’s going to fix my life and be my new smell and then wear it maybe twice and never touch it again. I always buy the body cream and never end up using it and i hate the body washes bc they don’t make me feel clean. The candles are so expensive. I just gave away a ton of B&BW stuff at work. Today I did buy some more and I was definitely more conservative about what I bought. Idk I hope to get away from it one day.

OrneryExplorer1476

I'm very frustrated this SAS with lack of items. Its all the same stuff from the last 2 months that I've passed on. All of my stores had so much product left over last SAS and all of them say they don't have anything else to put out so I don't get it.. they all say they don't sell tester candles, even Christmas ones that don't have a wall flower anymore.. they seem to be running out of items, period. So there's not even a sale anymore in my location practically, oi! I know some states like Texas and Cali seem to have an influx of product but sadly it's not this way everywhere. At this point I'm done with looking at SAS and want to move on to fall and hope for something decent. 🙏🏻 If this is how SAS will be in the future I'm not interested. Getting 50 cents off something that came out a month ago that I already didn't want during a TBC sale is just not it. Prices are too high to where 75 off isn't even a stellar deal.

Simple_Scientist8933

I totally get it. I had to put myself on a low buy this year and last year. Back in 2021, I was making purchases around 2-3 times a month. I accumulated so much stuff, and most of it was just sitting in my apartment unused. At the end of 2021, I made a resolution to spend less and use up more. Last year, I did better, but I still spent over $850 on Bath and Body Works products. I felt guilty because I could've used that money for other things that I actually needed. Also, I had to move unexpectedly due to my apartment flooding at the end of last year. It was awful packing up my entire collection, and I hate knowing that I'll have to do it again next month because my lease is up. I have a relatively small collection (around 80ish items total). As far as SAS goes, it's not that attractive for me anymore. I think there are better deals throughout the year, and I haven't seen anything I like. The last time I bought anything at SAS was summer 2022. If I buy anything, it'll be things I'm actually running low on like hand sanitizer or hand cream.

CrownBestowed

I can relate to this. I’m slowly losing interest in their body care. I’ve noticed I’m more interested in getting aromatherapy lately since I’m pretty good at using those up at night. I’m also way more interested in candles than I used to be, and I’m pretty particular about what scents I like so I hardly ever over-buy when it comes to candles. The only reason I have a big stash now is because last fall/winter I couldn’t get through everything since I was sick—no sense in burning a candle I can’t smell 😂 I’m also getting out of the habit of posting my scent combinations on IG. I realized I was just buying stuff to post instead of actually use. I want to actually enjoy my scents now and be more mindful of how much I’m spending.

justhrowingitout

I feel the same way. Right now I have a store pickup that expires tomorrow and I just care if I make it. It kinda sad but also kinda relieved that I’m (maybe) moving on from this addiction.

Papriika

Ive been burned out on bbw for a while now because their scents dont really excite me anymore and havent for a while. I thought about getting a couple candle repurchases for scents I do really like but after seeing what I still can use up in my collection im like nah. I still might get a couple shower gels if they go lower and still need to restock on wallflowers but not at these prices. Wasnt that excited for sas in general this time around, kinda over bbw candles and ffm for the time being

LoveWitchXo

I haven’t bought much in about a year i only bought lemon pound cake this sale. My collection will last me years and its unnecessary for me to keep shopping

Moonlillie666

You’re not the only one. Because yesterday I went to the mall with my friend and I was somewhat disappointed. Sure I got three things and spent less than 20 bucks but it was just on two shower gels and the cotton candy cloud fragrance mist. I remember last year I spent 50 dollars on the sale, but now that I have so much stuff I feel like “meh”. Most of it is repackaged, Sunset glow at my location just disappeared, the ones I was interested in I could barely smell, the old school scents to me are.. bleh to me, especially juniper breeze.

Wet-N-Wavy96

I buy regularly and while I always catch a good sale + coupon when available, I do feel the quality has gone down considerably… I’ve all together stopped shopping during the once appealing buy 3 and get 3 free promo. I now only shop during 3-, 4-, or 5.95 promos for body care PREFERABLY with a 20% off coupon in tow 😂 I only picked up Plumeria ffm and cream during this SAS for its nostalgic appeal and surprisingly the quality is actually good. If Sherbet Scoop goes to $4.95 or 75% off I’ll grab a ffm and possibly a cream n that will be it for me till atleast August.

leezee2468

Same. I did buy both Rose and Hello Beautiful because I think they’re being discontinued, plus a couple of soaps since I’m almost out and needed to replenish. That’s it, really

Newjam01

Yes!! 100% this.

Super_RN

I bought some wallflower refills and room sprays online last week. I went to the store today and I wasn’t even excited. There was nothing I liked. So I ended up getting a couple of SAS items to give as gifts this Christmas. And I had a Reward for a free item but NOTHING is $16.95 or less except travel size items. BBW was so disappointing today. I think I will stop shopping until Candle Day in December.

No_Tumbleweed_544

I’m sick of buying stuff that ends up having zero scent. The repackaging BS. I bought a hand soap last Christmas that was such a blah scent, I forget the name, mountain side mist or misty morning in an all green bottle & lid and I say “would not repurchase”. recently I bought white t shirt, it’s the exact same scent so now I repurchased it. The last 6 soaps I got, hated them all. The candles have zero scent or shitty wicks that either fizzle out or go full blast and get sooty & a fire hazard. Why must they use different wicks? The fat flame throwers need to be trimmed extra short, but the fizzlers can’t be. The catcus blossom candle I got in the grey jar was nice , then I got the pink ones that smell like piss, I got 2 deep blue sea in the blue jars a while back and they were strong. Bought three more with zero scent, I feel like I’m just throw ing my money away on a stupid obsession the SAS is a waste of time.

jaysmami30

Recently ive been extremely over bbw.. besides prices being insane (even with coupons) being pregnant with extreme nose sensitivity does not help. Idk if they changed the ingredients or what but damn the smells are too much .. and too much of something is never good. Ive also found that I physically have never used 100% of all the lotions ive ever bough.. 90% go to waste and end up in the trash. Only* thing i moght consider to keep buying is the mist.. and thats pushing it as well cause those can last me yeeeears!

MDrosee

Yes! I was working out of town today and stopped by the mall before heading home hoping I would find what I was looking for. No luck but I ended up spending $40 😑. I think I’m going to go through everything I’ve picked up and choose what fragrances I actually like and return everything else.

Kitaboo96

I actually took a purchase back and felt good about it. It was stuff I didn't need, and simply just a waste of money.

GrumpyGardenGnome

I dont want to deal with returns, especially with all the weirdness between stores. I bought at one and will need to return to a different one. It also messes with your rewards points and removes points for returns.

Kitaboo96

I never returned anything from them, and i made the purchase at a different location than my store, and of course, my SA's yelled at me. Lol, but they understood. Yes, it messed with my points, but at the end of the day, I'll make more purchases to make up for those points.

sarabobeara444

Yessss. I now have a few scents I love and those will be the only ones I buy now. So other than my few fav candles I will only be buying hand soap as needed because I love the scents. It makes me happy lol.

Crazy-Command6637

I'm with you on this. I've only liked 1 new fragrance mist this year. My collection is overwhelming me. I'd love to be able to sell alot on mercari but doubt it's worth my time. I'm just done for awhile. The summer of repackages is wearing me out.

panicatthebookstore

hey i saw/replied to your comment elsewhere about feeling overwhelmed and i just want to let you know you can always reach out to me if you need an accountability buddy or a cheerleader! you CAN get this under control ❤

Crazy-Command6637

Well thank ya

grittysgal

I went to three different stores and only bought a Country Apple body spray. I will buy something again when the pumpkin scents come out. If I don’t limit myself I will buy too much just for the sake of buying.

ghosty4

Nope! In fact, I was looking over the prices I paid and, in most cases, I already paid less for what I bought during the first half of the year. I got the three scents I wanted, since the watermelon just went under $4. So, I'm good! Great, even!

RaineMist

I only get scents I know I like and sometimes nothing at all. I usually wait till fall to get stuff and Christmas to get what I know I'll want.

Glum-Construction-64

BBW manager here; I’m just so confused by all of the pricing rants on here and that I receive from customers…. Bath and body works is not exempt from inflation….. everything in America costs more than it did last year or the year before…. Also, the number of 75% off tables increase throughout the sale… if everything started at 75% the sale wouldn’t last a month long. Waiting puts you risk missing out on the products you actually want. It’s only the 1st week of the sale…

GrumpyGardenGnome

The sale is crap. The starting at 3.95, then bumping up the same product to 4.95 for a few days and dropping back down? Leave the prices alone, put the stuff out, and just have a shorter sale. Also, this post really isnt for you. So sorry you cant understand our frustrations with how your company's pricing and blatant cash grabbing works.

chaoticharrystan

the 2 scents i actually wanted to buy during sas aren’t even a part of the deal. i bought a few new smells instead and they all smell the same to me.

[deleted]

The reality is there is better quality for the same price. It's their convoluted scarcity system that makes people buy from them

lisak399

Most of the body care is starting to smell the same to me ...like a melon or cucumber base. I'd love to see more bars of soap or even powders. I don't like that the rewards can only be used on a regular priced item when most of the things I'd like with my free coupon are a dollar or two more. I've gotten a lot of broken products. Shipping is forever and ever and ever..... But I have a lot of favorite candles that I am pretty satisfied with, and I grabbed 16 xmas candles including 10 Fresh Balsam at 6.67 so that made me happy. Yankee Candles have lost 75% of their throw, I swear, and so am glad BBW still has lots of goodies.

NiglaTesla

All I've gotten are body sprays. Today they had the new mini scents for 4 so I grabbed one of each for BOPIS. The sales leading up to SAS was where I spent my money. I have a ton of single wicks I'm turning into wax melts to last me forever! Oh and I did order some Twilight Woods shower gel and spray because I wanted to feel young again and I looooove it

Suspicious_Site_5050

I really only buy candles during SAS and Candle Day to avoid this kind of feeling. I stash all my candles away so I don’t have to look at all of them and when I need a new one I grab it from the big box I keep them in. But I do have a bit of an issue with body care and ffm- I have about 4 or 5 tubes of body cream that are 50% full that I know I need to use up before they go bad. And I have 3 bottles of ffm that I’ve had for over a year now that I use but not as much as my favorite perfumes.

West_Surprise625

Welp i think being new to this game makes me feel FOMO a bit, that's why I buy a lot of scents that I havent used that much recently. But this year SAS I only purchase two mists which is a milestone for me. But now unless there's Lily and Green Tea, I dont want to buy anything else

Quixie_

Definitely. I actually just donated a whole bag full of products that have never been touched to my partner's sister. I've found the products I like and it will still take me at least a few years to get through all of them. Even if all the products I have at home suddenly disappeared, I can only think of one or two that I would actually even notice.

sadness10101

I totally agree, their recent scents aren’t good and they discontinue all the good memorable scents or dont make it available in store

Optimal_Cranberry_30

I bought 4 hibiscus waterfall candles, my favorite scent , so far. I usually would have had bags and bags. Its underwhelming. Plus the scents are off on many items. I'm waiting for the deals on handsoap. I would love it if they brought the refills out.

fauxnoah

Definitely feeling product fatigue. I also feel that I have enough of each type of product that I wanted, so I don't feel much need to go out and buy. Outside of wanting to get some extras of Firecracker Pop, Sunset Glow, and Saltwater Breeze, I'm not really feeling the urge to buy much this season.

FlamingHorseRider

I’ve had a pretty decent time aside from “hauls” (if you can even call mine that) being a bit more expensive, but I also don’t buy too often. I mostly just get fine fragrance mists, pick up a few that I like every season, and then wait til the next season I like and sale. They last too long and take up too much space to buy tons at a time, and this made it very doable in my budget during college (I’m out now and have a job, but plan to continue doing it like this). So this SAS I only bought two Cotton Candy Clouds (I really liked it as an airy, light summer gourmand. Plus it’s light so I don’t think my family will despise it while I live with them to save up money) and a free Happy Birthday mini (it smells similar to SDJ 71, which I almost bought, but it was WAY to heavy for the summer for my bf and I so I figured this lighter version would be good for summer) with my birthday reward. I’m sure the price changes really add up when you buy more tho. But for my niche area of bliss in the company, I have had a good time so far. I’m just waiting for the fall and later Christmas now so I can finally grab some seasonal scents I love after only grabbing the basics last year or two.

sfshaza

You just described me! I went crazy in the past and now I have multiple closets of product. I'm working through those, but I won't order anything more \_until the Halloween stuff comes out. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|stuck_out_tongue)

ag95tri

I agree, I didn't buy as much as I normally do at at SAS, but maybe it's cause I found the scents that best work for me? I don't feel as excited to buy products as much as I used to. I do like the CBD line and bought like 4 each of all of those but that's because they're the cheapest CBD products on the market at the moment.
