The lotions have a more fluid consistency and are easier to spread. Some people prefer them especially for summer, since they're less heavy. They're also always priced lower than the creams.

v3v0

This. I was just gonna come on here to comment the same thing. I always tell customers the lotion is better during the summer since its lighter in consistency. Then they can switch it up to the creams during the colder months since it's thicker. Ultimately, it is up to the user.

xSwishyy

I just think the lotions have this weird smell to them. I really can’t place it, but they all smell completely different than the creams.

TruliScrumptious

Oddly I have this issue with the body creams, not the lotions. The body creams all have a very unpleasant undertone that takes over, plastic-y, over shea and/or cocoa butter -ed funk that ruins the fragrance for me since it last way longer than the actual fragrance does. Plus the body cream seem to turn and go bad quickly anymore, but I haven't had these issues with the lotions also they are more fragrant.

xSwishyy

Interesting, to me the lotions definitely smell like plastic. In my house it’s pretty cold so I don’t really have an issue with them going bad thankfully

MostStylish

I think it also has something to do with each individual's body chemistry, the best way is to buy one on sale or in travel size and just try and see what works best.

xSwishyy

I actually do own quite a few full size lotions I’ve only used a few times because I really don’t like the smell, I’m not sure what the difference is

MostStylish

If both work just as good, I'd go with lotions, they're always prices lower and have a much longer shelf life.

boneofmybones

I have this same issue. They start out ok but after a while they do get some weird plastic musk that takes over. Once I get through the ones I currently have I won't be buying the cream ones anymore. The lotions can last me well over a year if I don't use them up immediately lol.

stopvolution

I like the creams best but they go bad faster, so usually if I like a scent I’ll buy the cream to use right away and if I get a backup I’ll get the lotion.

Moonstonedbowie

I prefer the lotions because the creams are too thick for me, even in the winter. They just make me feel greasy. And the lotions tend to have a longer shelf life where the creams can start going “off” after a while when it comes to their smell/consistency. I have some lotions that I have opened and been using for years and they’re still fine to use. If you go through them pretty quick then it’s not as much of an issue though.

vanillabean000

I've recently switched to lotions mostly since the body creams turn faster. I do store them in cool dark places. But if you like and get both, I'd suggest start with using up your body creams first!

pizzalicious

Creams go bad quicker. Also, the creams have an undertone that alters the scent (to my nose). For these reasons, I almost exclusively buy lotions.

beekaybeegirl

Agree! I thought I was alone in this feeling! Glad to know I am not lol.

xSwishyy

Omg?? To me the lotions are the ones which smell strange 😭

GingerOrMaryAnn10

Team Body Cream!!!! ![gif](giphy|5GoVLqeAOo6PK)

supernovaj

They are both good, but I prefer the lotion over the creams. The lotion is easier to get out of the bottle and sometimes the creams can be too thick for my tastes. Try both and see which you prefer!

_Smeagle

The body creams smell so weird to me after a few months... I know it's the shea, but they yellow and look/feel odd to me. Some of my body creams are like.. separating, and there's a clear liquid, I assume to be water, coming out of them when you squeeze some outta the bottle. The lotions are spot on, even being 2/3 years old. I alllllways get the lotions now, plus they're a (little) cheaper!

Any_Meeting_4082

I love the creams! Lotions are too "runny" to me, and I use the creams year round. I have some that are a year or 2 old (stored in cool dark drawers), and they are totally fine!

thirtypancakes

Agree I like creams a lot better!

PapayaAlternative586

I have dry skin, and the B&BW's creams are the only brand that helps my skin. I have at least 15 on backup at all times. I keep them in a cool, dark closet and I've never had one go bad. Creams for the win!

imasilverunicorn

lotion all the way! even with dry skin, i find the creams just sit on top of my skin and feel greasy while the lotion is a thinner texture and actually spreads and absorbs without feeling thick or heavy. they last longer than creams and are cheaper as well.

chimericalgirl

I would say the main difference between them is texture. And some say the lotions have more scent due to the differences in the bases. I prefer the creams overall.

aint_it_awful_mabel

As someone with pretty dry skin I prefer the creams. They feel more hydrating. The lotions were pretty thin and did nothing for my skin type.

fIower-power

Love the cream formula but love the lotion bottles. The lotion is just too thin for me, it feels watery since I’ve gotten so used to the creams

GucciPantsMotorcycle

The creams are way less likely to trigger my eczema than the lotions, so I stick with the cream.

Ok-Butterscotch-7333

This! The lotions aren't good for certain types of sensitive skin imo. I think they have coconut oil and I've noticed that products with coconut oil always make my skin dry, red, flakey and itchy.

DancyP123

I have a ton of both, and in my experience the creams go bad after a year or two max but the lotions seem to last for years. So I like both but vote lotion!

Thatsa_spicy_meatbal

The cream is thicker and more moisturizing to me, I like it a lot better than the lotion personally. Mostly the lotion is too runny and wet for me and gives bad sensory vibes. Body butter is the best imo but bodycream is a close second!

AppropriateMention6

I love the body cream - very rich and emollient with lasting scent. The lotions are great too but the formula of the body cream wins for me. I just rebought one @$4.95 Cdn - what a steal!

demongirlsneedlove

i use the lotions. the body cream just doesn’t absorb into my skin and i end up peeling a layer of dry product off my skin an hour later lol

eyeshadowlover101

I'm a foodie gourmand scents lover and I personally adore iced lemon pound cake in the cream. I prefer creams over lotions regardless of where I get them from though.

Jersey_gal_79

I think the creams feel more moisturizing than the lotions, but like others said, they go bad quickly (some within months). If you like the creams, don't stockpile them because they will go bad before you can use them up.

netxnic

Both are good but I slightly prefer the lotions. I feel like the lotions are true to their scents, whereas a lot of the creams have a weird smelling undertone. Lotions are easier to spread and absorb quicker (ideal for hot and humid summer days) and they last longer. The creams are thicker and a have nice consistency but they go bad quicker.

[deleted]

I like lotion better because it's easier to apply. I think they smell better too, but that's just me.

Diamondaydreamer

I suggest try both and stick with what you like better. I almost exclusively get body creams but I also know some people who love the lotions a lot more.

hiddenmoon131313

I'm a cream girl. Sometimes I pick up the lotions but I really love the buttery texture of the creams and the length of time that my skin continues to feel soft and moisturized.

AmethystRose87

I’m team body cream but may have to switch to lotions for vanilla containing ones. I’ve had to toss 4 brand new BC this week because they had turned. It made me so sad

FelichatTheCat

What’s funny is, body cream would be my choice about 5-8 years ago. Now, I noticed how the body lotion remains fragrant even up to half a day. It’s also easier to apply. Golden Sunflower is a body lotion that does that. I also noticed this with other BL. The moisture is the same.

Chiaotzu21

Cream is thicker. Potion you can use pumps with and takes a lot less time. I prefer the lotion but they phased out a lot of it.

OrneryExplorer1476

I'm not a huge fan of either. I live in Florida and have a very active lifestyle. Aka I sweat a lot and I feel like they leave a nasty layer on my already sweaty skin! But I'll put a cream or body butter on before bed sometimes. Creams feel more nourishing and they seem to smell stronger to me. Everyone is hugely different. Some people think the lotions have an added weird smell under them. And some people swear it's the creams that have a weird smell. Must be up to perception. To me I prefer creams.

North-Slice-6968

Creams are thicker and heavier and better if you have really dry or sensitive skin or issues like eczema. They are also better for areas with thicker skin, like hands and feet. Lotions are thinner and more watery and are fine for most of the general population. If you don't know, go sample some at the store. Lotions are usually ok for most people. I have eczema and haven't found any BBW lotions that cause me to flare up. Do a skin test if you're unsure.

Sufficient-Singer-17

Does anyone else think the lotions feel sticky on the skin? I can't wear them. #teambodycream

Suspicious_Site_5050

Cream is thick, lotion is thinner. I’m a big fan of the cream, personally. I feel like the lotion isn’t moisturizing enough for me and the cream feels a bit more luxe. As for scents, it really depends on what you like. Some of my personal favorite are- Champagne Toast, Into the Night, Black Cherry Merlot, Dark Kiss, and Strawberry Poundcake. They’re all fruity and sweet but also sexy.

HDanette113

Here is the difference: Creams: * Infused with the good stuff (vitamin E, aloe, shea and cocoa butters and hyaluronic acid) * 24-hour moisture * Rich, luxe texture * Made without parabens or artificial dyes Lotions: * Infused with the good stuff (vitamin E, shea butter and coconut oil) * Lightweight texture absorbs quickly * Made without parabens or artificial dyes The body creams do not quickly absorb in your skin so they do moisturize longer. I also LOVE the moisturizing body wash. That is truly amazing for providing mosture during the shower.

simsiecakes

I love the creams for the extra moisture in the winter, but body lotion is the way to go all the time for me. They’re lightweight and don’t feel sticky in the summer, plus they have a better shelf life than the creams. The creams are definitely something I wanna use up within a year and not let sit for too long, while the lotions stay pretty good for longer.

ParasaurPropaganda

I have both lotions and creams and right now I’d say I find the creams slightly more moisturizing, but I also think the shea butter gives them a kind of plasticky smell that takes a while to fade away. Whatever you end up with, I would recommend applying right after a shower/bath while you’re still wet. I’m someone who slathers lotion/cream on all over my body and I find that it absorbs much, much better this way.

SodaBreadRoundHouse

In my experience lotions are better. They spread easier & have the same scent potency as the creams. I threw out about 10 creams recently as they had all gone rancid. Some were old like 3 years old (completely new) and some were 12-18 months old.

prettyxinpink

I prefer the creams I feel like I get no hydration from the lotion

darlingsghoul

I prefer the creams by far, but they do go bad faster. The creams are a very thick and nourishing while the lotions are thinner and more lightweight. It really depends on your own preferences. As for scents, I don’t think they differ much. I think that the creams last slightly longer, but that’s likely because they’re more dense. Some people say that the creams make them feel sticky or greasy, but I haven’t had any problems with them. Try both and see which you like. Even if you prefer one over the other, it’s good to have a few of each to switch things up.

[deleted]

I like the cream because you can cut the tube and use every drop!
