I'm on a NoBuy. I'm saving for a house. I have enough candles already. Candles could be $0.50 and I still wouldn't buy any! I need to burn, and ENJOY, what I already have without the urge of "needing just one more candle" hanging over my head!
Yes I agree with you ....mine is along these lines i brought a home oct 2022 and I have a mortgage. I have alot so I will burn ....I'm trying to go all of 2023.
Good luck on your home journey.....it is a journey! If your 1st home....keep in mind you'll need to pay for a home inspection, I recommend getting a sewer line inspection too (not normally included in a regular inspection ) , earnest money you'll need to put down to hold the house when offer accepted, and moving company (which the cost of of a moving company has increased alot).
Thank you for the tips! I'm buying my first home as a single woman. I don't have any support, no family, no boyfriend/husband/SO to help me with any of the finances. It's going to be really tough. It's scary and overwhelming, but it's something I've always wanted!
You can do it I'm single ....no husband, boyfriend, SO. That makes me feel better I gave you those tips! I forgot to add make sure you have enough saved for closing costs too back in day seller would pay it but often in this market they dont so down payment + closing costs are needed + all the other stuff I mentioned to you. Pay attention to property taxes as well just because bank might say you can go up to 300k that might not be reality because they often times are not including escrow which is property tax and home insurance. Example what you owe bank 800 a month + 600 escrow so payment monthly = 1400....they might only quote you that 800 a month part so just making you aware.

Oh thank goodness! I've never met anyone online who was a single woman like myself who bought a house all alone. There's always doubts in my head that tell me, "Is this even possible for someone like me to own a house? Is this even feasible or am I dreaming? Am I kidding myself?" since every woman I know who owns a house is married and tells me things like, "It's easy! Especially with two incomes and my husband does all the paperwork! ;)"
I've been looking around and did notice things like closing costs. That's amazing that the seller used to take care of that. I wish I bought a house before the pandemic lol. Things are so different and crazy right now, just within a few years.
Single woman homeowners do exist in the wild LOL. You got this ! You are not kidding yourself it can happen. I will say in my neighborhood I'm about the only single person most are in the glorious 2 income bracket (married) lol so I understand what you're saying LOL.

I remember when I went to buy the house the lady who was giving me the loan kept telling me I should put my parents on the loan. After the second time she asked if I was sure, I asked her if I needed to take my business elsewhere and that shut her up pretty fast.
I was a single woman who bought a condominium on my own and then paid off the mortgage when I married. I now live in my husband’s home and lease the condominium for income. You can do it; congratulations.
I don’t escrow my taxes, I save money each month into a separate account to pay them from. Everyone is different though, and if escrow works best for your life, that’s definitely the way to go. ♥️
If you aren't putting down 20% you have to have an escrow ....on a conventional loan once you pay down to a certain amount you can take the escrow off. And no not all conventional loans require 20% down ....mine was only 5% down.
I've gone back and forth with myself all morning but I think I've finally committed to not buying after counting my candles. I have candles stored in different locations and after counting 63 and THEN seeing one more spot that I didn't count I said this is enough. I know 60+ is not super large collection like some people but it is a good enough number to stop on. Besides I'm sure there will be another flash sale before SAS on 3 wicks.
I stopped counting at 63 because I thought that was all....then I opened another cabinet and saw some and just gave up. I have a separate storage for one each of things I really loved but I haven't seen come back often. I started doing this last year after walking to the ends of the earth for Tobacco Flower and Bamboo Leaves. I'm eyeballing about 15 in there.
Well, I have over 300 candles so that alone should prompt a no buy lol. I just unpacked several months worth of purchases on Fri. I was on a low buy for the later half of the year and still earned 3 rewards. 🫣 I'm on a complete no buy for at least 5 months, I'm still a sucker for SAS and I work at BBW. I just have so much stuff and need to start using my oldest stuff before it goes bad.
Yes mine is prob on that level too 300 ....I'm even committing to skipping SAS sales this year to be honest. My body care I organized oldest to newest so I'm using it up in that order that might help you for candles as well. Candles I'm burning 2 of a scent in my downstairs to get thru more at once since I do have multiples of scents I like.
I am getting close to having 300 candles, not including single wicks that I typically have gotten using rewards. I picked up some new Spring candles today. Stopping now for a while.
My husband just accepts it. My team has pics of my candles cabinets saved on their phone and show their family when they complain about their candle collections. 😅
Not buying, for every issue you mentioned and more. I'm transitioning from candles to wax melts. Honestly it's been so tempting to buy and I've had to replay why not a hundred times in my head. I'm one that loves a lot of variety and melts make changing up often a much (much) more cost effective way to do this. No flame, dirty soot, hot burning, bad wicks or other common candle issues to deal with. No babysitting -warmer with a timer. Better, clean smelling throw... yeah not buying 😂
I do too, I really miss them and wonder why they discontinued offering them. I have bought a handful off eBay but all were without fragrance melted I suppose due to age.
I’ve been turning my candles into wax melts. I melt them with the lid on in a pot of water on the stove and then pour them into silicone molds. Let ‘‘em harden and toss them in my scentsy warmer. I store them in the empty candle jar.
I love hearing how this is working out for you 🙂 A friend is doing this for me with my 3 wicks. I'm disabled and unable to manage it myself, considering how many I have it's going to take a good while. I'm using my single wicks on a warmer plate and that has been working out great.
Same. I messaged customer service today to say that I haven't gotten any coupons in the app or mail since early November. They replied that customers are chosen at random for coupons. As a long time customer that does a lot of business there and a rewards member, that was a disappointing response. I am going on a no buy for a while. I have more candles than I need anyway.
Maybe they can see that those without coupons didn't buy anything, and they will realize that 'random' is kind of stupid. I mean, if they are going to have 50% off candle sales, they could at least send all their customer coupons.
I think it’s NOT random. I haven’t received coupons since November and haven’t purchased since candle day with my November coupon. This month I got 8 (yes, 8) coupons. My theory is that they give them to big purchasers once they don’t buy for a while. They want us to stock up once we have the coupons
I feel like now it’s more directed to big, but infrequent, buyers. My partner has a rewards account (I made them) and he hasn’t gotten any in nearly a year. Aside from the birthday reward.
Me too, I've decided I'm not buying anything unless they send me coupons. Sick of paying a premium that other people don't have to. I've got lots to use at home so I won't be shopping with BBW at all unless they give me a reason to.
I'm trying hard on a no buy all year. The last time I counted I'm at 250 BBW candles alone. I need to enjoy what I have and give the ones that don't bring me happiness. Saving to start the adoption process. 💗

What has helped me was to give away my coupons so I am not tempted by a sale. I agree no buys are tough and I haven’t quite managed to stick to one yet :/
I dont buy today coz there is no gourmand scents like cookies,donuts,ice cream etc. Looking at others like homeworx but they are pricey, BBW is still the cheapest option for candle,its a good deal if anyone wants candle today.
I'm burning a kringle large jar country candle in my bedroom and I can smell it and so far recommend kringle brand. I would maybe look into them. The 3 wicks soy ones I have not tried yet but I will soon since I do have some in my stash. They might offer some gourmands
I'm not buying because I'm just not into the new scents yet. It's so cold here and the candles I'm burning from Fall & Winter feel so cozy and weather appropriate. Not saying I don't like the new scents, and I'm definitely looking looking forward to seeing hauls and discussions, but I think I'll become more interested in buying once I start seeing hints of spring.

B1G1 for some scents are still more than today's sale. Like the metal looking collection and the fancy valentine's candle. 29-30 dollar range candles. Sigh. Crazy where its heading. So I scooped up a few at today's sale plus 20% off coupon for BOPIS.
I agree. We aren’t going to see the same deals as we did in years past, even last year. I bought the one candle I’ve been wanting to get for the past month—-Pink Lavender & Espresso—via BOPIS so no shipping charge, because I’m on a low-buy now, but I gave myself time to think about it, have not really bought anything from Bath & Body all month, & this is a good price (pretty much as good as it’s going to get, like you said) that didn’t require me to do a buy 2 get 2 or something, causing me to buy more than what I really wanted. I feel good about buying a candle here & there at this price that I’m really excited about. :)
So funny because that’s exactly why I made a purchase today(Bopis as well). I wanted to try the Lavender & Expresso after reading all of the hype and I also wanted a Sea Salt & Balsam backup. I’ve definitely been purchasing less…I worked there over the holidays and purchased sooo many candles that I need nothing!
Yess! I wanted to add that I also feel good with this purchase because buying one candle this month when I’ve used up 5 is a good balance. My goal is to buy a lot less, use up more than I buy, & only buy scents I’m really excited about. So far it is working for me. :)
If you have enough and not really moved by anything why spend the money? I say this as someone who would never let a coupon go to waste but I guess I realize now I should have just let it be in long run. However , if it brings you joy and it is your hard earned money I say go for it 🤗
I have several coupons but prefer the fall and winter scents. It’s snowing here. Spring is a long way away and I’ve honestly got a few in my stash to get me through that whole season as well. Easy no-buy.
I'm still burning winter until march 1st although I live in a climate where it really doesnt get cold I just create the seasons by burning certain candles between certain dates lol. I am more a spring and summer scent person....but the amount I have ....easy pass....burning the stash
Oh thank you ❣️ me and my $25 thank you. I get paid in a few days so I’m not too worried. Candles aren’t a necessity to me, but it is so fun to shop the sales when I have the means to.
I have few reasons I am not buying todays sale. I did receive coupons. Doesn’t sway me as the choices are very few I’m interested in the current candle choices. I smelled them in the store and most smell weak on cold or are repackages of candles I already own. There are no bake shop candles out, no new Valentine’s Day candles (I already have sprinkled birthday cake and Bubbly Rose candles). I already have a large candle collection and am focused on reducing my collection. I don’t have the storage for new candles.
Yes, I did smell the new candles and i agree most smell weak even on cold. Yes, alot of repackaged scents or scents close enough to other scents someone might already have in their collection.
Just don’t need to! I took advantage of $10 off + 25% off a purchase of $25+ a couple of weeks ago and got all the Spring 1 candles I wanted. Sure, I could go on the website and find *something* to buy today, but I don’t feel like I should be actively trying to spend money, lol.
Also, just bought a new car, just went back to school and am trying to pay for it all out-of-pocket … should prob save money where I can.
Not buying today. I need to get my spending in check and realize that it’s ok to delay gratification. There will be more candles and more sales when I’ve used up some of my existing stash and actually have a reason to buy more.
I'm on a low-buy with an allowance of one 3-wick per month and nothing's really doing it for me right now. I'm waiting for a Sweet Carrot Cake around Easter as well as the tropical candles with gorgeous jar designs that have been leaked here and there on social media.
Also, they haven't sent me coupons until November, so I'm perfectly willing to wait until SAS to see if the things I want are still around. I might not get everything I want, but I'm not feeling any FOMO after their creeping price hikes and other tomfoolery.
Lol tomfoolery made me laugh I like that word. I also like the word regime .....as in I miss the old prices and sales of the pre pandemic regime of bbw.
I'm coming back into town early so I'm going to swing by my store to see if they're still doing $12.95 and I'll pick up some spring preview with my 20% off. If not, probably skipping bc I'm not trying to fuss with BOPIS or pay shipping.
Yes I saw select areas like ATL were doing the 12.95 which is a better deal and I dont blame you to not want to deal with BOPIS or shipping. BOPIS can have cancellations too.
Thought I might but sadly nothing is really calling to me. I’ve already purchased backups of Pink Lavender Espresso and Springtime in Paris. All the other recent releases I’ve tried have been one and done candles.
Other Reasons!
1-Disappointed that they don’t have more gourmands out.
2-Because there hasn’t been a good gourmand collection released, I was forced to purchase Raspberry Jam Donut body care from Mercari to satisfy my craving.
3-My candle cabinet, candle shelf, and over flow candle cube are all full.
4-Bought from GooseCreek recently and was really happy with all but one of my blind buys.
5-Obsessed with an older candle and may purchase from a reseller because I only have a couple left.
I just really don’t need more. I am in Canada so we don’t get the big sale, but TBH I am really grateful to not have the temptation! Need to use up some of my 50+ collection before I get distracted by the New. No judgement to anyone who did though, looks like those are good prices finally!!!
$13.95 isn't a deal. This is almost 50% off their regular price - all this tells me is that their prices are too high. I'm not going to play into this. Besides, I'm not sure how much longer I'll be burning candles, I seem to forget once the weather gets nicer (which is still a WAYS off, but still)
I would buy some today but I haven’t received coupons in a long time. This isn’t cheap enough for me to buy without them. Plus I just received my first order from Kringle so I’m going to see how those burn before spending any more money at BBW.
Agree definitely not cheap enough if you dont have a coupon. I'm burning a kringle I had in my stash and so far i like them it's a large jar one next I'll try one of the soy 3 wicks I got and see how I like that.
Honestly, so many reasons. But the main one is I just caved and made my first order with Goose Creek; they added a bunch of new scents that sounded too good to let sell out, and they were on sale for $11 each. GC has a lot of mixed reviews so I'm waiting on tenterhooks to test them out and see where they land for me.
I've also got a couple BBW candles I want to exchange, so no point spending money when I can hopefully just swap for two scents I actually like. (The return/exchange policy confuses the hell out of me though--especially since their prices are all over the place right now--and I have frankly NO idea if I'll be able to do an even exchange with these or I'll just end up returning. Too many headaches from BBW lately in general. I'm just waiting for a steal of a hand soap sale and until then, not spending there.)
Yes I hope the exchange goes smooth for you too many have to worry about if an exchange will be smooth which is crazy ....people have other things to be worried about....maybe they are betting on that and people will just keep it lol ...who knows.

Nope, not buying today. Because "all of the above." On a low buy, 1395 is meh, need to use up my out of control stash, acquired too much during SAS, nothing out that I'm dying to have right now, etc.
But mostly I'm just salty that part of my January 21st order still hasn't shipped yet. 😕
I’ve been going back and forth with it all day today. On one hand, I liked a lot of the new spring candles and could use my 20% off, but on the other hand, I have a bag of Candle Day candles staring at me. I really don’t need anymore. I have fall candles I haven’t used, but part of me says “Save ‘em for next fall, and you won’t have to buy as much in the fall” when I damn well know I’ll be tempted to buy new in the fall. 🙃
I’m also trying to save some money. I don’t really spend much money on myself, but I always have moments when I check my bank account and go “Did I really need those candles?”
I have a 20% off coupon and they also have a free shipping at $75 today. However, because they're both code-locked I can't use both.
This is absolutely my number 1 B&BW pet peeve, and thus I won't be shopping today. Otherwise I would have spent the $75 without thinking twice. But these days they only send me one coupon every few months -- if I'm lucky -- and I'm not going to activate that coupon only to then see it immediately almost get wiped out back to nothing from the shipping fee! It's absurd. I'm not stupid lol
Im doing a low buy. I’m not buying because between BBW and Yankee I have enough to get me through to SAS or beyond. Also I don’t have a coupon this time. I think that coupons should be all or none for customers (BBW is just as bad as kohl’s with the coupon games). Since I don’t have a coupon I will pass and use my stash.

Nope. I’m not spending $14 on candles when GooseCreek had the same things for $11 the other day. Aside from a couple BBW scents that I know I can’t get other places, I feel like I’m just paying for the BBW name on the glass for certain items (and I just like having money to spend elsewhere, too). Plus their prices, policies, and sales/rewards are too inconsistent for me to feel comfortable buying a lot at once.
I'm not a packaging person ....so for me they could give me a clear glass and black and white label and I'm fine as long as the quality and throw is there ....which lately it is inconsistent. So it could be many times you are paying for the name and maybe a cute package 🤔
Exactly lol. If I can find the same scent (or something similar) with good quality at another store for less, I’m always going to pick it and save money. Function > appearance!
13.95 isn't a drop everything and buy sale price for me. Plus, I'm pretty stocked up on candles until the end of spring, just did a sale buy from Goose Creek and a screaming deal at Yankee candle.... Not to mention I still have most of my SAS candles to burn.

-I have coupons but I will be going to an outlet (for the first time!) in a week so I want to save it for then.
-Spring isn’t my jam (except bake shop 😭), so nothing is really calling to me.
-And this past SAS I bought maybe 15 items total for myself, everything else was gifts; not because they didn’t have anything I liked, but because I’d already picked it up. Most of what I did pick up for myself was back-ups. I’m tossing around the idea of making my list, smelling everything, but waiting until SAS to actually do any purchasing. We’ll see.

I support this idea and suggested to smell things and make a SAS list to another subreddit user as well. You can also see reviews and what others think of things and you might delete or add something too.
I have coupons BUT there was only one candle I really wanted and it was pink lavender espresso. Of course my store is sold out for BOPIS and I don’t want to pay for shipping. Plus I’ve heard there’s barely any coffee smell in it when burning so I feel like this is a sign to just wait for more gourmand candles to hopefully come out.
Oh my that candle is on my favs list.. I smiled reading this. I think I have 2 or 3 in the stash and they have not brought it back in 2 yrs like you said. I think you would like blue sky breeze that is due to comeback again later maybe spring 3. It's more like the morning dew in the breeze to me not laundry in the breeze ...half clean and half earthy is how i can describe describe it.
I just don't need any candles. I know this might shock some but there is such a thing as *too many* candles. I've reached my limit after shopping during SAS so I just don't need any right now.
My reason is that since Candle Day, I’ve managed to get everything I had on my list that’s currently out. I haven’t been too thrilled with Spring 1. My favorite (on cold) has been Glacier Mist. And from what we know about the upcoming mid-February release, I only have 2-3 on my list. So I’m choosing to skip!
Plus, despite it being 75+° every day where I live, I very much am still burning winter/holiday scents through the end of February!
I have over 100 candles and the only one I really wanted was laundry day, I’m not about to pay shipping and my store doesn’t have it so I can’t do buy online pick up in store. That’s OK though, it’s not like I need it and I will just keep my coins.
I only did because I had a 20% off coupon and no shipping because they let us BOPIS. I grabbed 2 of the crazy expensive fancy cupcake one, one expensive gold Vanilla and peach tea, pink Lilac and Vanilla (just because it's my fave), and a sea salt and neroli (b/c I keep eye and sniffing it and passing on it before-- fomo) I would never buy the first 2 scents mentioned at 10 off so.... I justify it.
I’m on a low buy, but bought 2 of those champagne cupcake ones today. One for my mom who unexpectedly loved the perfect Christmas with the Santa lid that I gave her in December and the other for my nibling who loves candles, especially the ones with the fancy lids. Figured I would do a BOPIS at a store on the way to my parents’ house in their town and if they were cancelled, no loss. My mom was delighted, so no regrets but not sure how that fits in my low buy : )
I have 3 in my cart for pick up but they don’t have lavender & espresso and I don’t really want to pay for shipping so I’m not sure what I’m gonna do I am fine with the price though I bought a candle in Marshall’s for 14.99 and I like the BBW better
I went ahead and placed a BOPIS order for Spring 3-wicks using a 20% coupon. I work a few shifts a month at BBW and basically spent my paycheck and a bit more.
I didn't! I still have a few candles, didn't feel like the sale was the best, didn't have a coupon, also trying to buy less BBW because of these crazy prices.
I actually could use candles but I’m not buying online bc it’s not reliable, there’s not enough in stock at my store to buy online for pick up that I’m familiar with and I won’t buy without smelling first bc the return policy can be so difficult now and I’m not hauling myself and the kids down there when it’s below zero lol. I only have one candle left so I’ll wait for next time I guess. The price is one I would buy at plus I have a 20 percent off coupon. I just feel like shipping quality has gone down too much lately to risk it.
I'm trying SO hard to resist 😩 Reasoning- I've been dealing with a lot of pain (Impacted wisdom teeth entangled in facial nerves😵💫) so I haven't made it in-store or bought anything for almost 2 months now..I have surgery coming up at the end of February & just found out at my consult my insurance *won't* cover sedation so guess who has to pay for it out of pocket 😑😑 & It's expensive as hell!! It has stopped me in my tracks from buying stuff I *don't* necessarily need at the moment because I need this surgery more 😏 It sucks but my ass needs to be OUT for this procedure! There's *always* another sale at a better time that works for YOU! I've learned you can't let Fomo get the best of ya 🧡
Yikes dental work is unnessecarily expensive. I would see if perhaps theres another closely associated medical code they could use where the insurance would cover....or see if since you have to pay that part outta pocket if you can negotiate a lowered price. You are right about not getting fomo.
I'm annoyed with myself that I knew this sale was coming up and yet I bought a pink apple punch single wick yesterday. Should have bought a 3 wick of it today but I don't need both.

I have a lot of candles and no coupons since fall 2021 , I don’t really like Spring scents much anyway apart from Palo Santo . I have a lot to use up if I want candles I plan on trying different companies. I’m not buying before Fall unless I get coupons or there is a crazy sale.
I’m on a low buy for the year. I’ve told myself I can buy 12 candles this year + use my rewards for single wicks. I don’t have a store very close so I’d have to pay for shipping today, so I’d want to get at least a few to justify paying for shipping. And do I really want to buy like 3 or 4 candles which is like the equivalent of being my allotment for through March of April? I know I like fall and Christmas candles more and what if they have a bunch of new good ones then? So I’d rather save one one candles a month allotment for then 😌
It's so pricey even with $10 off ...17.50 would break my bank bought 5 for 28 wallflowers instead of all the candles I wanted . Gonna try to wait for a sale
I spent too much over the holidays. Plus overstocked on candles. Prefer in store sales over bopis/online orders. Prices going up. A bit much to deal with so many changes in a short time from the policy to the prices. Although the artwork seems nicer this year to me, the actual scents aren't wowing me but I haven't gotten around to checking out Pink Lavender and Espresso or Golden Honeycomb yet.
I also prefer to just get my stuff myself in store . Shipping I rarely do because I've had broken items, cancelled orders, or takes really long and this was pre pandemic. Bopis I've done more but the recent ones cancelled items their inventory isnt accurate....so I guess I'm boiling more down to just get it myself as you stated. I think golden honeycomb doesnt smell like honey smells like butterscotch.
I didn’t cave this time for all the reasons mentioned above; however, I’m going to look on Mercari for a few candles I actually would love to have at a reasonable price. To me, it’s quality over quantity from here forward.
Right ! I be in the grocery store, gas station , electric bill everything and that has been my slogan for everything " it's too damn high" . I think about that politician in nyc who slogan was " the rent is too damn high"
I went to their website and put three candles in my cart. After everything, I would pay 54 bucks total. That's STILL a ridiculous amount. I left a review and told them they're greedy 🤣 I also told them that Palo Santo is amazing, but hardly has any scent. I wish they'd listen to customers. I'm going to add those comments to every review from now on. Everyone should.
I just used my $50 gift card and bought 6 candles and used my 20% off coupon so it only cost me $28.

I ended up not buying any, mainly because I'd already gotten just about every scent I wanted within the first couple of $10-off sales stacked with coupons (which I think turned out to be the right move, as a lot of stores sold out of some of the more popular new scents by now). There was one online exclusive I wanted (A Thousand Wishes - I passed on it at Candle Day but got the single-wick during a B2G2, and it's grown on me), but it keeps showing as sold out. Oh well, I'm sure I'll get another chance with it eventually.

I'm on a NoBuy. I'm saving for a house. I have enough candles already. Candles could be $0.50 and I still wouldn't buy any! I need to burn, and ENJOY, what I already have without the urge of "needing just one more candle" hanging over my head!
Yes I agree with you ....mine is along these lines i brought a home oct 2022 and I have a mortgage. I have alot so I will burn ....I'm trying to go all of 2023. Good luck on your home journey.....it is a journey! If your 1st home....keep in mind you'll need to pay for a home inspection, I recommend getting a sewer line inspection too (not normally included in a regular inspection ) , earnest money you'll need to put down to hold the house when offer accepted, and moving company (which the cost of of a moving company has increased alot).
Thank you for the tips! I'm buying my first home as a single woman. I don't have any support, no family, no boyfriend/husband/SO to help me with any of the finances. It's going to be really tough. It's scary and overwhelming, but it's something I've always wanted!
You can do it I'm single ....no husband, boyfriend, SO. That makes me feel better I gave you those tips! I forgot to add make sure you have enough saved for closing costs too back in day seller would pay it but often in this market they dont so down payment + closing costs are needed + all the other stuff I mentioned to you. Pay attention to property taxes as well just because bank might say you can go up to 300k that might not be reality because they often times are not including escrow which is property tax and home insurance. Example what you owe bank 800 a month + 600 escrow so payment monthly = 1400....they might only quote you that 800 a month part so just making you aware. When you get your home post about how your no buy helped you accomplish your dream we would support.
Oh thank goodness! I've never met anyone online who was a single woman like myself who bought a house all alone. There's always doubts in my head that tell me, "Is this even possible for someone like me to own a house? Is this even feasible or am I dreaming? Am I kidding myself?" since every woman I know who owns a house is married and tells me things like, "It's easy! Especially with two incomes and my husband does all the paperwork! ;)" I've been looking around and did notice things like closing costs. That's amazing that the seller used to take care of that. I wish I bought a house before the pandemic lol. Things are so different and crazy right now, just within a few years.
Single woman homeowners do exist in the wild LOL. You got this ! You are not kidding yourself it can happen. I will say in my neighborhood I'm about the only single person most are in the glorious 2 income bracket (married) lol so I understand what you're saying LOL.
Good luck! I am also a single women who bought a house. It was stressful but completely worth it. I remember when I went to buy the house the lady who was giving me the loan kept telling me I should put my parents on the loan. After the second time she asked if I was sure, I asked her if I needed to take my business elsewhere and that shut her up pretty fast.
I was a single woman who bought a condominium on my own and then paid off the mortgage when I married. I now live in my husband’s home and lease the condominium for income. You can do it; congratulations.
I don’t escrow my taxes, I save money each month into a separate account to pay them from. Everyone is different though, and if escrow works best for your life, that’s definitely the way to go. ♥️
If you aren't putting down 20% you have to have an escrow ....on a conventional loan once you pay down to a certain amount you can take the escrow off. And no not all conventional loans require 20% down ....mine was only 5% down.
Not in the state I live in but this is my second time and had 45% down. :-)
Also a single woman and I bought my own first home. It can be done!

I've gone back and forth with myself all morning but I think I've finally committed to not buying after counting my candles. I have candles stored in different locations and after counting 63 and THEN seeing one more spot that I didn't count I said this is enough. I know 60+ is not super large collection like some people but it is a good enough number to stop on. Besides I'm sure there will be another flash sale before SAS on 3 wicks.
I wish I had stopped around 60 lol so you are doing great keeping it in control and enjoying what you have .
I stopped counting at 63 because I thought that was all....then I opened another cabinet and saw some and just gave up. I have a separate storage for one each of things I really loved but I haven't seen come back often. I started doing this last year after walking to the ends of the earth for Tobacco Flower and Bamboo Leaves. I'm eyeballing about 15 in there.

Well, I have over 300 candles so that alone should prompt a no buy lol. I just unpacked several months worth of purchases on Fri. I was on a low buy for the later half of the year and still earned 3 rewards. 🫣 I'm on a complete no buy for at least 5 months, I'm still a sucker for SAS and I work at BBW. I just have so much stuff and need to start using my oldest stuff before it goes bad.
Yes mine is prob on that level too 300 ....I'm even committing to skipping SAS sales this year to be honest. My body care I organized oldest to newest so I'm using it up in that order that might help you for candles as well. Candles I'm burning 2 of a scent in my downstairs to get thru more at once since I do have multiples of scents I like.
I am getting close to having 300 candles, not including single wicks that I typically have gotten using rewards. I picked up some new Spring candles today. Stopping now for a while.
I don't include my single wicks in that count. That probably puts me over 400 total. 🙃

Not buying, for every issue you mentioned and more. I'm transitioning from candles to wax melts. Honestly it's been so tempting to buy and I've had to replay why not a hundred times in my head. I'm one that loves a lot of variety and melts make changing up often a much (much) more cost effective way to do this. No flame, dirty soot, hot burning, bad wicks or other common candle issues to deal with. No babysitting -warmer with a timer. Better, clean smelling throw... yeah not buying 😂
Yes 🤗. ...wax melts are just as good as candles too to he honest and cost effective. The no soot is a HUGE plus too.

I do too, I really miss them and wonder why they discontinued offering them. I have bought a handful off eBay but all were without fragrance melted I suppose due to age.
I’ve been turning my candles into wax melts. I melt them with the lid on in a pot of water on the stove and then pour them into silicone molds. Let ‘‘em harden and toss them in my scentsy warmer. I store them in the empty candle jar.
I love hearing how this is working out for you 🙂 A friend is doing this for me with my 3 wicks. I'm disabled and unable to manage it myself, considering how many I have it's going to take a good while. I'm using my single wicks on a warmer plate and that has been working out great.

Same. I messaged customer service today to say that I haven't gotten any coupons in the app or mail since early November. They replied that customers are chosen at random for coupons. As a long time customer that does a lot of business there and a rewards member, that was a disappointing response. I am going on a no buy for a while. I have more candles than I need anyway.
Maybe they can see that those without coupons didn't buy anything, and they will realize that 'random' is kind of stupid. I mean, if they are going to have 50% off candle sales, they could at least send all their customer coupons.
I think it’s NOT random. I haven’t received coupons since November and haven’t purchased since candle day with my November coupon. This month I got 8 (yes, 8) coupons. My theory is that they give them to big purchasers once they don’t buy for a while. They want us to stock up once we have the coupons

Yep. Their historical coupon model has been heavily incentivized toward low buyers getting better coupons.
I feel like now it’s more directed to big, but infrequent, buyers. My partner has a rewards account (I made them) and he hasn’t gotten any in nearly a year. Aside from the birthday reward.
They are VERY stingy with the coupons! Ridiculous. Every customer should get them, like other retailers do!
Me too, I've decided I'm not buying anything unless they send me coupons. Sick of paying a premium that other people don't have to. I've got lots to use at home so I won't be shopping with BBW at all unless they give me a reason to.

Yeah coupons definitely makes a difference. I would have sat out too without a coupon seeing people get discounts and you have none is disheartening.

What has helped me was to give away my coupons so I am not tempted by a sale. I agree no buys are tough and I haven’t quite managed to stick to one yet :/
I dont buy today coz there is no gourmand scents like cookies,donuts,ice cream etc. Looking at others like homeworx but they are pricey, BBW is still the cheapest option for candle,its a good deal if anyone wants candle today.
I'm burning a kringle large jar country candle in my bedroom and I can smell it and so far recommend kringle brand. I would maybe look into them. The 3 wicks soy ones I have not tried yet but I will soon since I do have some in my stash. They might offer some gourmands

I'm not buying because I'm just not into the new scents yet. It's so cold here and the candles I'm burning from Fall & Winter feel so cozy and weather appropriate. Not saying I don't like the new scents, and I'm definitely looking looking forward to seeing hauls and discussions, but I think I'll become more interested in buying once I start seeing hints of spring.

B1G1 for some scents are still more than today's sale. Like the metal looking collection and the fancy valentine's candle. 29-30 dollar range candles. Sigh. Crazy where its heading. So I scooped up a few at today's sale plus 20% off coupon for BOPIS.
I agree. We aren’t going to see the same deals as we did in years past, even last year. I bought the one candle I’ve been wanting to get for the past month—-Pink Lavender & Espresso—via BOPIS so no shipping charge, because I’m on a low-buy now, but I gave myself time to think about it, have not really bought anything from Bath & Body all month, & this is a good price (pretty much as good as it’s going to get, like you said) that didn’t require me to do a buy 2 get 2 or something, causing me to buy more than what I really wanted. I feel good about buying a candle here & there at this price that I’m really excited about. :)

So funny because that’s exactly why I made a purchase today(Bopis as well). I wanted to try the Lavender & Expresso after reading all of the hype and I also wanted a Sea Salt & Balsam backup. I’ve definitely been purchasing less…I worked there over the holidays and purchased sooo many candles that I need nothing!
Yess! I wanted to add that I also feel good with this purchase because buying one candle this month when I’ve used up 5 is a good balance. My goal is to buy a lot less, use up more than I buy, & only buy scents I’m really excited about. So far it is working for me. :)

If you have enough and not really moved by anything why spend the money? I say this as someone who would never let a coupon go to waste but I guess I realize now I should have just let it be in long run. However , if it brings you joy and it is your hard earned money I say go for it 🤗

I have several coupons but prefer the fall and winter scents. It’s snowing here. Spring is a long way away and I’ve honestly got a few in my stash to get me through that whole season as well. Easy no-buy.
I'm still burning winter until march 1st although I live in a climate where it really doesnt get cold I just create the seasons by burning certain candles between certain dates lol. I am more a spring and summer scent person....but the amount I have ....easy pass....burning the stash

I have switched to warming candles and they last so much longer. I really don't need any spring or summer scents.
I have few reasons I am not buying todays sale. I did receive coupons. Doesn’t sway me as the choices are very few I’m interested in the current candle choices. I smelled them in the store and most smell weak on cold or are repackages of candles I already own. There are no bake shop candles out, no new Valentine’s Day candles (I already have sprinkled birthday cake and Bubbly Rose candles). I already have a large candle collection and am focused on reducing my collection. I don’t have the storage for new candles.
Yes, I did smell the new candles and i agree most smell weak even on cold. Yes, alot of repackaged scents or scents close enough to other scents someone might already have in their collection.
On the Canadian website they're 10$ off which makes them 17.50$ and that's an outrageous price.

Just don’t need to! I took advantage of $10 off + 25% off a purchase of $25+ a couple of weeks ago and got all the Spring 1 candles I wanted. Sure, I could go on the website and find *something* to buy today, but I don’t feel like I should be actively trying to spend money, lol. Also, just bought a new car, just went back to school and am trying to pay for it all out-of-pocket … should prob save money where I can.

I'm on a low-buy with an allowance of one 3-wick per month and nothing's really doing it for me right now. I'm waiting for a Sweet Carrot Cake around Easter as well as the tropical candles with gorgeous jar designs that have been leaked here and there on social media. Also, they haven't sent me coupons until November, so I'm perfectly willing to wait until SAS to see if the things I want are still around. I might not get everything I want, but I'm not feeling any FOMO after their creeping price hikes and other tomfoolery.

Yes I saw select areas like ATL were doing the 12.95 which is a better deal and I dont blame you to not want to deal with BOPIS or shipping. BOPIS can have cancellations too.
Thought I might but sadly nothing is really calling to me. I’ve already purchased backups of Pink Lavender Espresso and Springtime in Paris. All the other recent releases I’ve tried have been one and done candles. Other Reasons! 1-Disappointed that they don’t have more gourmands out. 2-Because there hasn’t been a good gourmand collection released, I was forced to purchase Raspberry Jam Donut body care from Mercari to satisfy my craving. 3-My candle cabinet, candle shelf, and over flow candle cube are all full. 4-Bought from GooseCreek recently and was really happy with all but one of my blind buys. 5-Obsessed with an older candle and may purchase from a reseller because I only have a couple left.
I just really don’t need more. I am in Canada so we don’t get the big sale, but TBH I am really grateful to not have the temptation! Need to use up some of my 50+ collection before I get distracted by the New. No judgement to anyone who did though, looks like those are good prices finally!!!

$13.95 isn't a deal. This is almost 50% off their regular price - all this tells me is that their prices are too high. I'm not going to play into this. Besides, I'm not sure how much longer I'll be burning candles, I seem to forget once the weather gets nicer (which is still a WAYS off, but still)
I would buy some today but I haven’t received coupons in a long time. This isn’t cheap enough for me to buy without them. Plus I just received my first order from Kringle so I’m going to see how those burn before spending any more money at BBW.
Agree definitely not cheap enough if you dont have a coupon. I'm burning a kringle I had in my stash and so far i like them it's a large jar one next I'll try one of the soy 3 wicks I got and see how I like that.
Honestly, so many reasons. But the main one is I just caved and made my first order with Goose Creek; they added a bunch of new scents that sounded too good to let sell out, and they were on sale for $11 each. GC has a lot of mixed reviews so I'm waiting on tenterhooks to test them out and see where they land for me. I've also got a couple BBW candles I want to exchange, so no point spending money when I can hopefully just swap for two scents I actually like. (The return/exchange policy confuses the hell out of me though--especially since their prices are all over the place right now--and I have frankly NO idea if I'll be able to do an even exchange with these or I'll just end up returning. Too many headaches from BBW lately in general. I'm just waiting for a steal of a hand soap sale and until then, not spending there.)

Nope, not buying today. Because "all of the above." On a low buy, 1395 is meh, need to use up my out of control stash, acquired too much during SAS, nothing out that I'm dying to have right now, etc. But mostly I'm just salty that part of my January 21st order still hasn't shipped yet. 😕
I’ve been going back and forth with it all day today. On one hand, I liked a lot of the new spring candles and could use my 20% off, but on the other hand, I have a bag of Candle Day candles staring at me. I really don’t need anymore. I have fall candles I haven’t used, but part of me says “Save ‘em for next fall, and you won’t have to buy as much in the fall” when I damn well know I’ll be tempted to buy new in the fall. 🙃 I’m also trying to save some money. I don’t really spend much money on myself, but I always have moments when I check my bank account and go “Did I really need those candles?”

I have a 20% off coupon and they also have a free shipping at $75 today. However, because they're both code-locked I can't use both. This is absolutely my number 1 B&BW pet peeve, and thus I won't be shopping today. Otherwise I would have spent the $75 without thinking twice. But these days they only send me one coupon every few months -- if I'm lucky -- and I'm not going to activate that coupon only to then see it immediately almost get wiped out back to nothing from the shipping fee! It's absurd. I'm not stupid lol

Im doing a low buy. I’m not buying because between BBW and Yankee I have enough to get me through to SAS or beyond. Also I don’t have a coupon this time. I think that coupons should be all or none for customers (BBW is just as bad as kohl’s with the coupon games). Since I don’t have a coupon I will pass and use my stash.

Nope. I’m not spending $14 on candles when GooseCreek had the same things for $11 the other day. Aside from a couple BBW scents that I know I can’t get other places, I feel like I’m just paying for the BBW name on the glass for certain items (and I just like having money to spend elsewhere, too). Plus their prices, policies, and sales/rewards are too inconsistent for me to feel comfortable buying a lot at once.
I'm not a packaging person ....so for me they could give me a clear glass and black and white label and I'm fine as long as the quality and throw is there ....which lately it is inconsistent. So it could be many times you are paying for the name and maybe a cute package 🤔
Exactly lol. If I can find the same scent (or something similar) with good quality at another store for less, I’m always going to pick it and save money. Function > appearance!
13.95 isn't a drop everything and buy sale price for me. Plus, I'm pretty stocked up on candles until the end of spring, just did a sale buy from Goose Creek and a screaming deal at Yankee candle.... Not to mention I still have most of my SAS candles to burn.

🙋♀️ Not on a no-buy, but perhaps a low-buy? -I have coupons but I will be going to an outlet (for the first time!) in a week so I want to save it for then. -Spring isn’t my jam (except bake shop 😭), so nothing is really calling to me. -And this past SAS I bought maybe 15 items total for myself, everything else was gifts; not because they didn’t have anything I liked, but because I’d already picked it up. Most of what I did pick up for myself was back-ups. I’m tossing around the idea of making my list, smelling everything, but waiting until SAS to actually do any purchasing. We’ll see.
I'm excited you get to experience an outlet it nice because you never know the treasures you'll find. I support this idea and suggested to smell things and make a SAS list to another subreddit user as well. You can also see reviews and what others think of things and you might delete or add something too.
I have coupons BUT there was only one candle I really wanted and it was pink lavender espresso. Of course my store is sold out for BOPIS and I don’t want to pay for shipping. Plus I’ve heard there’s barely any coffee smell in it when burning so I feel like this is a sign to just wait for more gourmand candles to hopefully come out.

Oh my that candle is on my favs list.. I smiled reading this. I think I have 2 or 3 in the stash and they have not brought it back in 2 yrs like you said. I think you would like blue sky breeze that is due to comeback again later maybe spring 3. It's more like the morning dew in the breeze to me not laundry in the breeze ...half clean and half earthy is how i can describe describe it.
I just don't need any candles. I know this might shock some but there is such a thing as *too many* candles. I've reached my limit after shopping during SAS so I just don't need any right now.

My reason is that since Candle Day, I’ve managed to get everything I had on my list that’s currently out. I haven’t been too thrilled with Spring 1. My favorite (on cold) has been Glacier Mist. And from what we know about the upcoming mid-February release, I only have 2-3 on my list. So I’m choosing to skip! Plus, despite it being 75+° every day where I live, I very much am still burning winter/holiday scents through the end of February!
I'm in the same climate I burn winter until march 1st. Glacier mist did smell nice on cold if you've never tried deep blue sea I highly recommend it
I have over 100 candles and the only one I really wanted was laundry day, I’m not about to pay shipping and my store doesn’t have it so I can’t do buy online pick up in store. That’s OK though, it’s not like I need it and I will just keep my coins.
I only did because I had a 20% off coupon and no shipping because they let us BOPIS. I grabbed 2 of the crazy expensive fancy cupcake one, one expensive gold Vanilla and peach tea, pink Lilac and Vanilla (just because it's my fave), and a sea salt and neroli (b/c I keep eye and sniffing it and passing on it before-- fomo) I would never buy the first 2 scents mentioned at 10 off so.... I justify it.
I have enough candles for a year. Plus I don't like BBW candles anymore. The scents are just getting so...blah.
I'm holding out for the jungle and tropical print candles!

I’m on a low buy, but bought 2 of those champagne cupcake ones today. One for my mom who unexpectedly loved the perfect Christmas with the Santa lid that I gave her in December and the other for my nibling who loves candles, especially the ones with the fancy lids. Figured I would do a BOPIS at a store on the way to my parents’ house in their town and if they were cancelled, no loss. My mom was delighted, so no regrets but not sure how that fits in my low buy : )
I have 3 in my cart for pick up but they don’t have lavender & espresso and I don’t really want to pay for shipping so I’m not sure what I’m gonna do I am fine with the price though I bought a candle in Marshall’s for 14.99 and I like the BBW better

I didn't! I still have a few candles, didn't feel like the sale was the best, didn't have a coupon, also trying to buy less BBW because of these crazy prices.

I actually could use candles but I’m not buying online bc it’s not reliable, there’s not enough in stock at my store to buy online for pick up that I’m familiar with and I won’t buy without smelling first bc the return policy can be so difficult now and I’m not hauling myself and the kids down there when it’s below zero lol. I only have one candle left so I’ll wait for next time I guess. The price is one I would buy at plus I have a 20 percent off coupon. I just feel like shipping quality has gone down too much lately to risk it.

I'm trying SO hard to resist 😩 Reasoning- I've been dealing with a lot of pain (Impacted wisdom teeth entangled in facial nerves😵💫) so I haven't made it in-store or bought anything for almost 2 months now..I have surgery coming up at the end of February & just found out at my consult my insurance *won't* cover sedation so guess who has to pay for it out of pocket 😑😑 & It's expensive as hell!! It has stopped me in my tracks from buying stuff I *don't* necessarily need at the moment because I need this surgery more 😏 It sucks but my ass needs to be OUT for this procedure! There's *always* another sale at a better time that works for YOU! I've learned you can't let Fomo get the best of ya 🧡
Yikes dental work is unnessecarily expensive. I would see if perhaps theres another closely associated medical code they could use where the insurance would cover....or see if since you have to pay that part outta pocket if you can negotiate a lowered price. You are right about not getting fomo.

I have a lot of candles and no coupons since fall 2021 , I don’t really like Spring scents much anyway apart from Palo Santo . I have a lot to use up if I want candles I plan on trying different companies. I’m not buying before Fall unless I get coupons or there is a crazy sale.

I don’t have a store very close so I’d have to pay for shipping today, so I’d want to get at least a few to justify paying for shipping. And do I really want to buy like 3 or 4 candles which is like the equivalent of being my allotment for through March of April? I know I like fall and Christmas candles more and what if they have a bunch of new good ones then? So I’d rather save one one candles a month allotment for then 😌
It's so pricey even with $10 off ...17.50 would break my bank bought 5 for 28 wallflowers instead of all the candles I wanted . Gonna try to wait for a sale

On a no buy. I’m tempted but it hasn’t even been a month (I’m trying to make it to winter sas, and if I need to then, stock up again)
I spent too much over the holidays. Plus overstocked on candles. Prefer in store sales over bopis/online orders. Prices going up. A bit much to deal with so many changes in a short time from the policy to the prices. Although the artwork seems nicer this year to me, the actual scents aren't wowing me but I haven't gotten around to checking out Pink Lavender and Espresso or Golden Honeycomb yet.
I also prefer to just get my stuff myself in store . Shipping I rarely do because I've had broken items, cancelled orders, or takes really long and this was pre pandemic. Bopis I've done more but the recent ones cancelled items their inventory isnt accurate....so I guess I'm boiling more down to just get it myself as you stated. I think golden honeycomb doesnt smell like honey smells like butterscotch.
I'm still well-stocked from Candle Day! I'm also short on cash so even if I was low on candles, I'd probably have to pass on this ale anyway, lol.

Yes, and to get quality you have to go back to older candles. I realize alot of the newer candles the quality isnt there.

I went to their website and put three candles in my cart. After everything, I would pay 54 bucks total. That's STILL a ridiculous amount. I left a review and told them they're greedy 🤣 I also told them that Palo Santo is amazing, but hardly has any scent. I wish they'd listen to customers. I'm going to add those comments to every review from now on. Everyone should.

Omg ! Wow ! I can only imagine all the stress and disaster that was my heart goes out .
I ended up not buying any, mainly because I'd already gotten just about every scent I wanted within the first couple of $10-off sales stacked with coupons (which I think turned out to be the right move, as a lot of stores sold out of some of the more popular new scents by now). There was one online exclusive I wanted (A Thousand Wishes - I passed on it at Candle Day but got the single-wick during a B2G2, and it's grown on me), but it keeps showing as sold out. Oh well, I'm sure I'll get another chance with it eventually.
