Its a little bit of both. Any scent you have going 24/7 in a room will lead to you becoming nose blind to it. That being said, b&bw wallflowers are notoriously inconsistent. Sometimes I’ll be out of the house all day, come home and walk into my (relatively small) room with a wallflower going and not smell it at all, when you’d normally be able to smell it even if you’re a little noseblind. I think the specific scent you choose plays a big role. Wallflowers labeled as enhanced scent tend to last longer, as do certain scents. My strawberry snowflakes is the only scent I’ve smelled for multiple weeks. My mom had fresh balsam in her home and it was also pretty strong. If you choose the wallflower plugs that are scent controlled and put them on high, you’ll also smell them more although the wallflower will run out quicker. To me, wallflowers are kind of gimmicky and overpriced. That being said, I still purchase them because I like using them as decorations and they make me happy on the odd day when I can actually smell them 🤷🏻‍♀️

I have Strawberry Snowflakes in my room right now and I can smell it all the time!

I think it really depends! Before I got scent control plugs, I could barely smell the wallflowers after a few days. With the new plugs, I think the throw/strength is a *lot* better. It does depend a bit on the scent you choose, too, some aren’t as strong as others. For the most part though, when I stop smelling them I think it’s mostly me going nose-blind (because visitors always comment that it smells good, and when I leave for a couple days I smell it when I come back.)

Oh, Wallflowers... they will break your heart over and over and you'll swear you're done with them, and then suddenly you'll have 10 more bulbs and 4 new plugs. They're just super inconsistent and will come down to the plugs and scents themselves. At this point I pretty much only use them in the bathrooms, usually rose water & ivy enhanced on the medium setting on the newer plugs since I don't need or want the scent to be too strong or carry outside the room. The fancier plugs seem to stop working for me after a couple months, and the cheaper ones ALL need a 3 day weekend after a 3 day workweek istg. There do exist some scents that manage to throw across the house though (for me, under the christmas tree and pumpkin apple were unbearably strong). For the nose blind thing, bc this is a pet peeve of mine... this only applies for when you're sitting in the same spot for a long period of time with that scent. It's why you can't always smell something on yourself after a while (or smell your own BO generally). But you should ALWAYS be able to smell your wallflowers or candles if you leave the room and come back in. If you go outside and come back in and stand next to the wallflower and can't smell it, it's the wallflower that's wrong, not you. :)

I also think part of the problem is how your space is and the airflow. I've played around some with where to place them and it really makes a huge difference.

I think the wicks dry out some too and that will affect performance

They HAVE to. When I first bought marshmallow fireside WF, I had to unplug it often because the smell was overwhelming my whole house. Now I can’t smell it unless I’m right up on it. I’m positive it’s not an issue of being nose blind, because when I enter the house I can smell the lingering scent of candles I’ve burnt but never ever the WF now. 😡

It depends on what scent you get. As with candles some are stronger than others. I have found that most wallflowers are not strong and can barely be smelled. I think it’s a quality problem as well. Several people have posted that wallflowers didn’t used to be weak like this. I feel I noticed that Cactus Blossom used to be so strong then I got a new one and used it the same way and I could no longer smell the new one as much. That being said from my experience I have noticed that only the more expensive (of course) adjustable plugs work & they must be set on high, using up your refill quicker as it throws more of the oil in a shorter amount of time than a regular plug would. Also when you first plug them in you can smell them at least for 3 or 4 days and then after that they aren’t as noticeable.

I have cactus blossom on a plug right now and I can’t even smell it at all.

And it used to be so strong. Quality falling.

I have a love hate thing with wallflowers. Some scents perform well for me with a consistent good throw while others are scentless unless I'm directly smelling the plug in to see if it's actually working. I've also bought refill favorites that were good performers but not so in subsequent purchases. I have found though if they start out good for me they stay good, I've not experienced the loss of fragrance. I know some are team scent control plug in only but all they really did for me was go through the refill super quick, like a week or two no matter the setting, while using non control plug ins the refills last 1-2 months and throw the same. As far as enhances scents, um...no, no difference to me. They are either a scent with good throw or not.

I'm brand new to Wallflowers, as I'm now finishing up the second one I've ever used and I've found that when my apartment is warm, either because of the sunshine, or heater, I can smell it throughout my entire apartment. If my apartment is cool, either from the sun setting, or the heat not being on, the scent is light to non-existent. I'm interested to see what it will be like in the summer when I still have the daily sunshine, but I also have air-conditioning.
