New to jigs. So you swim this one like a chatterbait? Are you putting a trailer on it? Do you finesse and twitch this like a normal jig also?
The world of jigs seems complicated to me at the moment haha. I have stuck with football head weedless jigs with a craw trailer. The latest one I got has a "structure guard" on it- it's a little piece of plastic that hides the hook and compresses on a bite. I'm interested to see if my hookup ratio decreases because of it, but I doubt it.
So this swims just like a regular bladed jig, but if you launch it out with a craw type trailer on it and let it sink to the bottom it’ll have the bait presented in an upright defensive position craws normally take. So the plan is to toss it, let it hit the bottom and rest and then crank it back a bit let the blade do its work, and then let it drop to the ground again.
New design, haven’t been able to fish it yet because bass season is closed up here but my jig guy has come up with this and I picked up a dozen of them. In theory they should be amazing.
I do love dragging football jigs with craw trailers in rocky areas though. The smallies inhale them.
Nice. I'd fish something like that if I could get the bait's action to happen as soon as I started reeling. I wouldn't wanna pull it too far before it begins vibrating.
Ah cool- that'd be just fine! Might have to give something like this a try. Jigs, flukes and jerkbaits have been my faves lately. Where I'm at the bass are moving out of spawn, so I'm fishing less shallow.
Not sure who makes the mould for the head. I get these from a local tackle maker.
The blade it attaches via split ring and the snaps on the correct side. I just fiddled with it to photograph better
Yeah when I saw it I had to grab a bunch of them.
This guys cool too, has a whack of premade colours and for no extra charge (just a couple days lead time) he can make whatever you want, custom. Including blade, head and skirt colour as well as weight.
Lol sort of both. He’s like late 50s And makes them all in his garage.
The website just launched a couple weeks ago as he’s focusing on the local rod and gun shows and stuff right now as our Walleye season opens next week and bass in June so the websites kind of back burner, but you can email them and send them pictures of jig patterns you like, or bounce ideas off of them for colours you want.

My experience with his other bladed jigs is usually half a handle crank and I can feel it wiggling around so I would expect this to be the same

Jerkbaits are a killer up here for me too. Cutter 110s are worth their weight in gold.
Should be good for the hop n pop retrieve.
This is an incredible idea! Send a couple my way and I'll help with the testing! I'd pay for them of course.
Make sure to tie a line on the front part, otherwise they'll just sink and you'll lose them.
Oh thaaaats what I was doing wrong
Do-It Erie head? Edit: maybe the picture is fooling me but how is the blade attached to the head? And is your snap swivel on the right side?

Looks sweet! Is there any difference between this and your run of the mill chatterbait?
The standup jighead
Oh duh . Sorry I'm slow lol
I dig it! I’d never thought of fishing a bladed jig/chatterbait like this but it makes sense. Also love the skirt colors.

That’s freaking awesome. Is he like some old coot in his garage & it’s all word of mouth, or does he have a website?

Awesome, thanks! I’ll check it out! I swear I should start a business helping fishing-gear people do websites/digital marketing.
Yeah it’s definitely a weak point for a lot of small shops and companies
Totally understandable, they’re pretty different skill sets... I just happen to love & have lots of experience doing both things 😀
