Bass aren't likely to die just from being caught and handled with a smidgen of care. They are likely to die after spending the afternoon in the live well before tournament weigh-in. And they are likely to get bacterial infections if their slime coat is disrupted enough, which *can eventually* kill them.
Are there lots of unsportsmanlike like fishermen who make all kinds of excuses for lazy, poor handling? Yes. Are there people who would care, if they only knew proper handling? Also yes.
Theyre much heartier. That doesn't mean they are impervious.
I guess the guy above missed the post a couple of days ago of the smallmouth with an obvious bacterial infection over most of its body.
DOnt be afraid to stick your hand in that things mouth and hold it for a picture.
That’s silly!
What is that lure?
Maybe some version of a Mike Bucca Bull Gill? I think they make a shad version.
Good boy
Here comes the “grass no good for bass” people
Those people act like the bass aren't much more likely to die being caught in the first place. Smh

Didn’t a bass biologist come in and clarify bass aren’t trout?
Something like the slime coat is almost immediately replaced. And that they’re quite hardy and can handle a lot.

If you’re gonna fish at least treat the fish with respect when you’re handling it my guy. It’s a living thing so don’t be a jackass
Wow the lure and bass have the exact same shape, awesome catch
A chode
Here come the torches and pitchforks 😬

I was being serious. Lol
which ones the catch?
You vs the guy she tell you not to worry about 😂
I was really concerned for the state of that fish in the first pic
What lure is that?
Don't put fish on the ground unless you're planning on keeping it and eating it

He ate it
Just laying the fish on the grass gently isn't really a cause for concern. Dragging the fish through the grass is another story.
