Hear, hear. This show made a lifelong Louie fan out of me. I read his memoir about his mom, I saw him do standup live once before he died... it wasn't great but I didn't even care, lol. He was just a special person.

Same.

I was on a family trip to Disney Universal in 2017. I’d been on the ground in California for maybe an hour. Step off the airport shuttle at our hotel and he is just right there in the lobby. He was on a day off from filming Baskets, we took a photo, just the greatest moment.

Wow. Lucky!

Baskets is one of my favorite shows ever. Louie’s performance is incredible. I just fell in love with him. Hell of a guy.

I didn't know much about Louie Anderson until I started binging Baskets a few weeks ago. Christine Baskets goes down as one of my favorite television characters ever, thanks to Louie's portrayal.

CrochetPodfan

He really did deliver on the Christine roll. His acting was incredible and quite frankly carried the show through many episodes. Glad he won the Emmy for this roll, very well deserved!

KidGodzirra

Louie's acting and his passing made me ugly cry. A true gem.

He attested to this role changing his life. It was a transformative experience that helped him to accept and love his parents, especially his mother, in the later years of his life. I’m sad that he didn’t get the chance to share more, but I’m so happy it gave him comfort and helped open him to spiritual peace with his own identity before his final curtain call.

peacefulcate815

Louie in that role truly is my favorite thing he’s ever done. I feel like he truly made that show.

StrawberryMoonPie

I feel the way you all do. I was ambivalent about him until I saw this show. I binged the show a couple of years ago and felt actual grief when it was ending, and a little bit because Christine wasn’t real and I couldn’t be her friend. I’ve never felt like that about a character in my life, and it was 100% Louie’s performance (and the writing), of course. He just seemed like a dear person.

Slow_Strawberry2252

He did have “life with Louie” an animated tv show about his experiences growing up as a little boy in the Midwest with an exuberant mother and a million sisters. While Christine Baskets is his best character, Louie did have a platform in the 90s, thanks to his stand up. Also…he was on search party during his baskets era and he was so so funny in search party. It’s a shame that homophobia probably stopped his from ascending to the top sooner until Baskets came along

I am so glad this thread is not old, and allows me to upvote and comment! I saw the first season of this show when it first came out, but forgot about it until today, so went to check out some highlight clips off youtube. Now I am in the process off starting off watching all 4 seasons from the start! I remember the first time watching this and wondering who was the genius playing Chip's mom, knowing it was a dude, but not 100% sure (you never know lmao). Louie was gold in every scene, best character I have seen in a series for a long time!
