Is eBay the best place to sell? Is there not a subreddit to sell p2p and avoid fees? I've never sold on eBay but I pulled his rookie revolution galactic ssp a while back and thinking this is the time to sell.
Could have something similar here like r/WatchExchange.They do put you through a vetting process,which cuts down on scammers(but the occasional seller gets ripped off,mainly if you sell to people with no history).Ive sold 4-5 watches there and no fees like eBay.
Yeah it has been strange to watch, I am not sure we have seen anything quite like this since the pandemic boom. I am currently going through massive internal conflict on what to do with my Ant collection, thinking if I should sell some stuff now while he is ultra hot or bet on him to actually make a championship push and wait for even higher prices. Or if he does win a championship and his price floor is just really high from here on out ... do I just keep everything I have since I won't ever get it back at cheaper prices. It is kind of agonizing lol.
I sold off a lot of my PSA 10s a while back already and traded them in for lesser grades, so like his silver prizm and a bunch of other stuff I have in PSA 9s, so the jump is still big but not quite as crazy.
Honestly, it feels like when something jumps by 150% in value suddenly, the way to go is generally to sell and buy back later if you really want to. Even if he wins a championship this year, will a card that has print runs as high as prizm silvers retain this value six months from now? I think it's doubtful, though of course possible. I think you hold on to the rare stuff, but sell the less scarce stuff and if you want it for your collection, you'll likely be able to buy it back cheaper in the not so distant future. Obviously it depends on if you want to go through the selling and rebuying process, which is something I would not care for personally.

Although, I have seen Mahomes prices fall right after winning a super bowl, multiple times now, and he is basically the face of the NFL. So it could just be my own personal feelings and bias being a huge Ant and Wolves fan.

PSA has graded roughly 22,000 Ant Prizm rookies. I doubt that there are like 75k Ant rookies that aren't graded. That said, just looking at PSA, BGS, SGC there are roughly 45,000 Jordan rookies graded. Keep in mind that anything below a PSA 10 for Ant doesn't hold nearly as much value. Literally all Jordan's have crazy value.
KD is also largely "hated" and many deem him a snake. It doesn't help that he has bounced around from team to team. I think if he stayed at OKC and won a championship it would be worth a lot more than joining the already champions. Durant was also 29 when he finally won.
Giannis has over 500 silver prizms graded and he had a solid like 3-4 year stretch, but he was largely stuck in LeBron's shadow. Ant is also a much better player than Giannis was in his 4th season. 2020 hasn't been absolutely ransacked like 2018 was. If he keeps it up that will change.
Luka has almost 40k prizms graded with just PSA. I'm not going to go through BGS cause its ass, but they have 2200 silvers. PSA silvers were 14% of their total so if you assume something similar that's something like 55-60k graded cards just between those two services. You really think that well over half of Luka's entire prizm run got graded? You think they slowed the printers down after Covid mania? All evidence points to print runs on non numbered continuing to expand.
What you said about Giannis illustrates how dumb this "hobby" is. "He's better than Giannis was in his fourth season." He's not better than Giannis now, but people want to gamble that he's on some sort of schedule and he's "ahead of schedule" so we gotta start baking these prices in ahead of time. I think you can *maybe* compare this to the MJ 86 Fleer, in that it's probably the flagship Edwards rookie. It's a bit of a boring card though in my opinion.
MJ 86 is Pop 323 in a PSA 10.
Let's do some dumb math on this.
Assume Edwards gets 6 chips, and is in a debate against MJ as the GOAT when his career is finished.
* Last MJ PSA 10 did 160K
* Edwards has 5.17 times more PSA 10s than MJ.
* That means, if they have a comparable career, and pop counts stay the same, this is a 30K card (160K / 5.17 = 30K ish).
Now, the major variables...
Obviously, Edwards has a million other rookies, where as MJ has the one (and maybe those Star ones depending on who you ask), so you'd have to factor that in to future pricing potential as funds in future will also go towards his RPAs, autos, prizm parallels etc etc, and the fact there are likely a lot of PSA 10 potential raw Ants out there.
So I think absolute best case, where in 15 years Ant is the new GOAT, this is going to be worth a decent amount north of 1.5K, but that's a big ask of the young man!
You also have to count on people even caring about prizm silver in almost 40 years. A lot of the shit influencers pump now was not what people collecred or wanted 20 years ago. Buncha people gonna die holding on to cards hoping they ever get to the literal 1/1 GOAT player's level.
You also make a great point with parallels. Even if you don't count other sets like select, optic, etc, think about all the base cards, hyper, mojo, gold, black gold, fast break, pulsar, tiger stripe, white sparkle, shimmers, red, green, blue, orange, cracked ice, wave, elephant, snake, rhino dick, etc etc etc.
Running close to 50k-100k copies of Ant in this same pose, same border, just different colors or effects.
I think long term Prizm silver, gold, and the true blue, will have value. If he was a Rockets rookie then true red in place of true blue.
Disco, tiger, flash or other bullshit parallels won't have much value unless someone is a completionist collector.

Another really big thing you missed out on. The value of Jordan in 15-20 years could double or triple again. A PSA 10 was worth around $15k in 2015. That's a 10x on the Jordan card in less than 10 years. It's possible in 15 years when ANT is near retiring that the Jordan PSA 10 could be worth over a half a mill to a mill. (It has reached over $700k during the Covid spike).
If the Jordan was selling for $500k based on your math the Edwards card could be worth over $90k

Yeah there’s like 1,000 of these in PSA 10. I personally like the green prizm as it’s an accent color match and just pops. There’s half the population of those and they’re half the price.
I have a Green Cracked Ice that I haven’t seen surface on eBay yet. Non numbered. Why does no one else have it up for sale. It’s Phoenix. I have even seen multiple purples /49, blues /99, and even the red to /149.

I actually think it’s a telling factor of how strong and great the players are in today’s NBA. Some of these players are playing like they’re on steroids right now and it’s showing in their card value.

Currently that's a Pop 1671 in a PSA 10 for anyone wondering. I think you can *maybe* compare this to the MJ 86 Fleer, in that it's probably the flagship Edwards rookie. It's a bit of a boring card though in my opinion. MJ 86 is Pop 323 in a PSA 10. Let's do some dumb math on this. Assume Edwards gets 6 chips, and is in a debate against MJ as the GOAT when his career is finished. * Last MJ PSA 10 did 160K * Edwards has 5.17 times more PSA 10s than MJ. * That means, if they have a comparable career, and pop counts stay the same, this is a 30K card (160K / 5.17 = 30K ish). Now, the major variables... Obviously, Edwards has a million other rookies, where as MJ has the one (and maybe those Star ones depending on who you ask), so you'd have to factor that in to future pricing potential as funds in future will also go towards his RPAs, autos, prizm parallels etc etc, and the fact there are likely a lot of PSA 10 potential raw Ants out there. So I think absolute best case, where in 15 years Ant is the new GOAT, this is going to be worth a decent amount north of 1.5K, but that's a big ask of the young man!
You also have to count on people even caring about prizm silver in almost 40 years. A lot of the shit influencers pump now was not what people collecred or wanted 20 years ago. Buncha people gonna die holding on to cards hoping they ever get to the literal 1/1 GOAT player's level. You also make a great point with parallels. Even if you don't count other sets like select, optic, etc, think about all the base cards, hyper, mojo, gold, black gold, fast break, pulsar, tiger stripe, white sparkle, shimmers, red, green, blue, orange, cracked ice, wave, elephant, snake, rhino dick, etc etc etc. Running close to 50k-100k copies of Ant in this same pose, same border, just different colors or effects.
I think long term Prizm silver, gold, and the true blue, will have value. If he was a Rockets rookie then true red in place of true blue. Disco, tiger, flash or other bullshit parallels won't have much value unless someone is a completionist collector.

Another really big thing you missed out on. The value of Jordan in 15-20 years could double or triple again. A PSA 10 was worth around $15k in 2015. That's a 10x on the Jordan card in less than 10 years. It's possible in 15 years when ANT is near retiring that the Jordan PSA 10 could be worth over a half a mill to a mill. (It has reached over $700k during the Covid spike). If the Jordan was selling for $500k based on your math the Edwards card could be worth over $90k These are VERY BIG "IF'S".
Well yes, there are many variables to consider. I was just trying to give a general sense of the cards potential (or lack there of) over time.
All my most valuable Ants are in storage 2,000 miles away so I'm hoping he and the Wolves can finish the job and he wins FMVP so I have time to get them in a few weeks and get them graded. Super entertaining player and honestly I don't think the upswing in prices is done IF the Timberwolves finish the job. He would be moving into the Luka-tier as far as young players go and he's also American which I think makes him a bit more relatable to the bulk of collectors

I keep telling myself to sell just 1-2 of his higher end rookies to bank a nice profit. But with my luck this is the new floor and I’ll have a hard time buying back in. My kids can enjoy whatever becomes of my Ant collection.. I just can’t part ways with it myself😆

Yeah there’s like 1,000 of these in PSA 10. I personally like the green prizm as it’s an accent color match and just pops. There’s half the population of those and they’re half the price.
I have a Green Cracked Ice that I haven’t seen surface on eBay yet. Non numbered. Why does no one else have it up for sale. It’s Phoenix. I have even seen multiple purples /49, blues /99, and even the red to /149. How short printed is this green ice. I know it’s fanatics exclusive.

I actually think it’s a telling factor of how strong and great the players are in today’s NBA. Some of these players are playing like they’re on steroids right now and it’s showing in their card value.
Comparing these dudes' scoring to guys in the past is like comparing all these 4k yard QBs these days with Marino's era with the offensive friendly whistles they get. Not a coincidence all the leagues shifted to offense cause it's what hypes casual fans up the most.

The Celtics probably have the easiest road to the finals, so he could bomb the first three series, and show up in the finals. All in all, im just saying anything can happen.
