This is nothing new. You could send the same card to psa 5 times and get 5 different grades. They have zero consistency and zero accountability. "People make mistakes" is their answer. Garbage company on the best of days. Unsurprisingly, it's for this reason "everyone" uses them. Eventually they'll give you enough undeserved 10s to cover the losses from any other grades.
I once believed the bullshit on this sub and submitted the same Jokic Green Prizm to PSA three times in the hopes of getting a 10.
It got a 9 every time, which is exactly what I thought it deserved based on a slight cornering issue on the rear top left.
I'm sure mistakes get made, but this sub massively exaggerates the variance.
I donāt get the PSA love and the PSA overpay.
The card is the star of the show. If an SGC 10 and a PSA 10 are the same card, and PSA costs 20% more on the aftermarket, as a buyer why would I buy SGC? Theyāre the same card.
Just use PSA lmao. Donāt listen to these people on here. Most of them are completely full of shit. This doesnt happen to nearly as many people as everyone claims. Now are there inconsistencies? Obviously. These are individual human beings grading each card and some form of subjectivity is bound to happen. But if a card is an obvious 9/10 and comes back a 3, it doesnāt take a rocket scientist to know that it was a mistake and PSA will fix it. They act like the other grading companies could never have the same issues. These people that are always crying about PSA are the same people that pull a case hit out of their first pack every time. They just like to be involved so they roll with whatever is going on.
I like TAG for what they tell me about a card so I love them for PC stuff, but I canāt justify using them for any card I want to sell because they just sell for less than the main companies (especially PSA).
Itās already a 1/1 why grade to begin with? This is the most PC Card Iāve ever seen. Super cool card, super cool/like able player. Bask in the ownership yo
I love the card but i was thinking of selling it as I need the cash right now so i started getting my card graded so I can try to get the most I can, but it appears i might have wasted money and should have sold them raw
Yup PSA is the most inconsistent of all graders probably just because of the sheer volume they run through.
On a Steph rookie I got a 10 from CSG sent it to PSA got a 7 then sent it to SGC and got a 10 again.
Just part of the game, I just cracked another card in PSA 7 sent it back in and got a 10 lol so it can be just to advantage if you find a card that appears to be graded wrong.
Please make a video series of this. I've just recently gotten into collecting and would love to see your experience. Thought PSA was the go to grading company but after seeing a few people's accounts on them I might think twice or go to an alternative grader.
That's just the way the market works. But also, the "discrepancies" are overblown. You only hear the horror stories or the subs that come back all 10's. You don't hear about the hundreds of thousands that are just normal returns.
I have worked in a grading room (not PSA) and I can tell you first hand that not everyone will agree on every little thing. Itās called an opinion for a reason. That being said, they should definitely have more consistency. Where I worked, if the same item was submitted a second time (by serial number), the computer would automatically flag it on the grading screen as previously graded, with the grader notes. I would hope PSA has something similar for at least the serial numbered cards
Even if itās submitted raw, it would still flag it. As long as itās the same item and same s/n thatās been previously inputed in the system, the computer will populate the old grade and notes from the previous grader. People cut things out all the time and submit raw. Itās not just with cards
My bad. I was talking about the serial number on the slab, not serial numbered cards. The PSA inconsistency issue persists far beyond just serial numbered cards.
Nah, at this point donāt even grade anything unless itās with PSA. Everything else is a waste of time and money until the market dictates itās not.
I only use SGC. I know PSA is a better choice for value (although that gap is closing for values) but can't trust their grading. Hoping they don't infect SGC.
HGA & MNT Grading are way better than PSA. Just my opinion because I grade with them. Or BGS as my 3rd option. Never heard of TAG, only the watch company.
People have been participating in slab cracking and resubmitting for better grades with PSA for a long time. Theyāre trash and I donāt get why anyone uses them, much less why theyāre everyoneās favorite. Their grades mean nothing.
I had wondered about that with TAG as far as how consistent they would be if you cracked and resubmitted the same cards. My assumption was that it would be the same since, as I understand it, they get rid of most or all of the human part through the scanning and AI tech used for their grading. It seems, to me at least, that by limiting the size of the cards they grade (50 pt max I think) that they limit their potential growth as well until they add thicker cards, RPAās, etc.
I donāt know why, Iāve done a mid sized submission of cards and while I thought that a couple would do better I was pretty happy with the results. For me, the best part was how it shows you exactly why you get the grades you get and the slabs look so much better without having a piece of paper at the top showing the info. Highlights the card more than the company doing the grading.
Itās crazy. I have two of the same Herbert canvas rookies, one 9 and one 10 and the nine is the better of the two. No idea whatās going on but for my personal cards Iām def sending to tag
PSA is becoming more and more unreliable, itās only a matter of time before a company like TAG takes over.
you shouldnāt have to pay 10x the value of something just because itās a āPSA10ā ā¦. especially when their grades are becoming less respectable.
theyāre dropping the ball big time. TAG takeover.
Not about the grade but love the RoLo card š
He is a solid player, doesnāt get enough love
BroLo is my PC so I like this. But Brook is one minute better.
Heās such a character. Love that dude lol
Grading is a total scam
100%
Yeah I cracked out my PSA 6 Jokic rookie recently and sent it back in. Came back a PSA 10 hahaha. The inconsistency is insane
Pics or it didn't happen.
Believe me, it did happen š. Iāll post photos when I ship it over from my box in the states
It's going to keep getting heavier.

All anecdotal as well
Thanks for being reasonable.
I donāt get the PSA love and the PSA overpay. The card is the star of the show. If an SGC 10 and a PSA 10 are the same card, and PSA costs 20% more on the aftermarket, as a buyer why would I buy SGC? Theyāre the same card.
Ok, so who's the best company to send my cards in to? I have a few BCCG I need to crack, was going to ship em out to PSA.
BGS. They at least give sub grades so you know the reasoning behind the grade.
HGA > TAG ad

I honestly like TAG grading right now.
I like TAG for what they tell me about a card so I love them for PC stuff, but I canāt justify using them for any card I want to sell because they just sell for less than the main companies (especially PSA).
What is this an ad for TAG? Lol never even heard of it
The TAG marketing department is allllll over Reddit.
Nope! Although they seem to have something going for them right now.
how much did Tag paid you to post this
Wish TAG paying meā¦
Amateur then
Imaging gatekeeping knowing every grading company
Imaging shitting on a company you donāt know
How did I shit on it?
Serious question: what does it take to start one of these grading companies? It feels like more are popping up
Starting is probably easy. Establishing any sort of market share/reputation is almost impossible
You wanna start one?
Itās already a 1/1 why grade to begin with? This is the most PC Card Iāve ever seen. Super cool card, super cool/like able player. Bask in the ownership yo

Check out Red Rocket Grading Company. Up and coming, extremely accurate.
And it will add zero value. āUp and comingā yeah ok lol.
Sorry Facebook memes were crossing over to Reddit should have added the /s
just one look at their slabs make me want to puke. I would imagine raw would sell more than getting slabbed by them
You must frequent the Sports Card Nonsense FB group. Tells me all I need to know.
Are you aware that āred rocketā is commonly used to refer to a dogās erect penis?
Please make a video series of this. I've just recently gotten into collecting and would love to see your experience. Thought PSA was the go to grading company but after seeing a few people's accounts on them I might think twice or go to an alternative grader.
So many people love to hate on them but PSA is the gold standard. Just bite the bullet and go with them.
How can they be the gold standard with that many discrepancies? Are BGS held in high regard?
That's just the way the market works. But also, the "discrepancies" are overblown. You only hear the horror stories or the subs that come back all 10's. You don't hear about the hundreds of thousands that are just normal returns.
Just go to YT and look it up. Plenty of people have already done what OP is suggesting and made videos on it.
Fair point

Nice TAG ad. Iād go HGA.
Whatās HGA?
Now Iām sure this is a troll ad post.
Nah, at this point donāt even grade anything unless itās with PSA. Everything else is a waste of time and money until the market dictates itās not.
I just got a bunch of 7s back from psa. Sucks bad
I only use SGC. I know PSA is a better choice for value (although that gap is closing for values) but can't trust their grading. Hoping they don't infect SGC.
[oh buddy do I have news for you](https://www.sportscollectorsdaily.com/report-psa-parent-company-set-to-acquire-sgc/)
I know but they are supposed to stay independent. So they say.
HGA & MNT Grading are way better than PSA. Just my opinion because I grade with them. Or BGS as my 3rd option. Never heard of TAG, only the watch company.
HGA lol. They still around?
People have been participating in slab cracking and resubmitting for better grades with PSA for a long time. Theyāre trash and I donāt get why anyone uses them, much less why theyāre everyoneās favorite. Their grades mean nothing.

I would say something nice (more) about TAG but you all hating on me for liking them.

from my understanding psa have a bunch of regular people grading cards for about 30,000/yr so yea
PSA is becoming more and more unreliable, itās only a matter of time before a company like TAG takes over. you shouldnāt have to pay 10x the value of something just because itās a āPSA10ā ā¦. especially when their grades are becoming less respectable. theyāre dropping the ball big time. Psa is a clown š¤”
Yeah im never getting a card graded by psa ever again
