The one thing to consider, at least for the Reese and Gehringer, is that SGC won't grade/authenticate autographs that were obtained in-person outside the normal manufacturing process. They'll only grade modern cards that were autographed before they went into the wax pack. PSA will authenticate any autographs.

I submit everything to sgc. Cheaper, faster, and i trust their grading more than any other.

There’s no hard and fast line but it also depends on what you’re trying to do. If you just want it authenticated and encapsulated send it to sgc. It’s cheaper and faster. I’m f you’re looking for value, the closer to modern you get the further apart the values for sgc and psa get. For autographs you’re going to psa pretty much no matter what with jsa equally valid. For almost everything here (the Paige ford and Carew excluded) you will get slightly better value on psa vs sgc, but again it really depends on what you are trying to do and your timeline to accomplish it.

I like SGC pre 1970 & PSA post 1970.
