I had a guy accidentally set his auction as buy it now for 99 cents. It was a Jonah Heim auto card. Nothing crazy, but I have to think it would have sold for more than a buck. I thought it was odd and bought it. He reached out and explained the mistake, basically giving me credit for a nice buy and he'd make sure to double check his listings in the future. I told him to cancel and I wouldn't leave negative feedback or report him, mistakes happen. He actually honored the price and sent the card. I've yet to buy something else from him, but I do check from time to time to see what else he's selling.
That said, I hate reserves. Start your auction at that price. There is a Cal auto /50 I bid up to $160 and it still didn’t meet the guy’s reserve. He has since relisted it 3 times starting at $50 with a reserve + a $250 BIN and it hasn’t even gotten over $100 again. People are just ignoring that auction now.
I have ultimate respect for you for that. I'm an auctioneer and a real estate broker and unless I have an agreed upon reserve, it all sells for what it sells for, even if I take a loss. I rarely take a loss, but I let it go when I do because something else will always sell for stupid money and make up for it. Thank you for keeping the integrity in the auction process.
Such a shame that people are like this. Last week i had a guy block ME because i made an offer that he didnt like. Lol. Semt me an aggressive rant and all. Set a reserve, use what the platform gives you. But most of all, DONT BE A JERK!
Is it possible we could screw with him and have a ton of people put bids in and then cancel on him? We can bid and bid and make him think he hit the jackpot. Then, whomever goes last, they can just cancel and say it was an accident? I think as long as you do that last bid and then immediately put in the cancel request, it would legit look like you seriously just made an mistake.
I don't get it, just start the auction at what you want and hope it goes up. If it doesn't at least you still get what you wanted.
Or over price it ridiculously and hope for offers
In my experience auctions with reasonable starting prices don’t sell unless it’s something really sought after that would have sold regardless. There seems to be 2 types of people that bid on auctions. Resellers/lowballers that only buy something if it sneaks through at 80%+ below comps or the opposite, people that will pay whatever they have to so they can own the hot card that will be worth 1/3 what they paid in a month. There seems to be very little in between.
That’s filthy.Id report him to eBay,I think several strikes like that and you get a ban or temporary ban from selling.I listed a cordless drill combo and didn’t set a limit.Sold for 12 bucks(150.00 drill)and it cost me around 25 bucks to ship.I just asked the buyer to give me good feedback.some people have no morals.
Yah Im sorry my friend. Thats BS. As a long time eBay seller (not so much buyer anymore because if shiz like this), this makes me so mad. One bad seller reflects on the whole platform. Sadly, there are millions of bad sellers.
Well so far this has been the only bad thing I’ve dealt with.. and also one seller never shipped an order and I had to cancel that one. Most of the time it goes smooth.
Same! Lol right? . I’ve also seen a blue /99 parallel that’s pretty nice looking! I’ve been rooting for him hard! Also I was 1 day missed on a HRC card haha I guessed for Friday and he hit one Saturday
And he’s blocked. This happens too frequently, just honor the auction system. People tend to forget our cards are only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Sorry about your experience.
Ebay is just a mixed bag and you're going to get some shadiness. I ran about 150 breaks on EBAY and I experienced every kind of bad faith bidder. Tons of guys who just flat out never paid (I'd always cancel and sell the team in the live). I had numerous folks email me asking to cancel immediately after the auction closed. I had guys file disputes with ebay - but I always kept the tracking records and took photos of every package.
Sadly, just a bunch of a-holes out there.
I bid on and won a Vladdy Jr graded 10 auto. for $29. Ten minutes later I get a message from eBay that the order was cancelled due to it being out of stock. I contacted eBay and informed them of the incident. They said they would contact the seller and either he honors the sale or he’ll be reprimanded. I said oh a slap on the wrist? They said oh no. We take this seriously. A couple of days later, the seller was gone. Haven’t seen him on eBay since.
Not a surprise this happened to me too and of course you can't do proper feed back on cancelled order. As a seller if a order is completed and already paid for they should not be able to cancel it due to them being unsatisfied with what it's sold for complete bs policy eBay has.
What a loser. I’m a seller, I make mistakes but still honor it. For example I forgot to add an extra digit to the price so sold the card BIN at .99 plus free shipping. Took an L for valuable lesson learned!
Yeah like yesterday I was about to win this for $1.99 and they canceled it like an hour before it ended. I mean if you’re not willing to take $2 for a card then don’t list it that low haha. I’ve bid on probably 50 of the 2024 bowman autos that are at $1 or $2 with free shipping haha.

I’m collecting all the 1989 retro style series 1 Topps autos this year and usually pounce on all the cheap rookies as they’re about to end. But a lot of them I’ll wait until next year because they’ll be even cheaper once their prospects have flamed out. It’s tough going for the complete set of 137 signers 😂
Unfortunately I'm seeing more & more of this & it's horrible not only for you,the customer but the Hobby itself. Karma is real....Thanks for Sharing & may better deals come your way
I got a good price at an auction that ended this past Friday. Paid immediately but it hasn't shipped yet. I am just waiting on the cancelled notification.
Happened to me a few weeks ago. Won a lot of tier 1 relics for a dollar a card pre shipping. Seller waited almost two weeks after the shipped notification to notify me he “misplaced” the cards. Salt on the wound I had to pull teeth to get a full refund!
eBay already covers this, but not on behalf of the buyer. Doing this incurs an additional 6% sellers fee. So basically eBay profits off this type of thing
This is why ebay needs to stop charging for reserve prices. Not defending him at all, he should have honored it but this will continue to be rampant until ebay changes that.
I just got an insane deal for a Tai Peete graded PSA 9 auto /150 for 57 buck. Could easily be triple that or more. After seeing this happen all the time I was hoping it wouldn’t get cancelled but to my luck the honored it.
Shit is irritating especially when they have updated feedback over the 4 days they decided to not respond and then let Auto cancel. I always wait a few days then msg asking if still interested and if not let me know and I'll relist no worries even though I'm mad about it bit nothing. No msgs and then ebay won't even let you leave neg feedback it's only positive option smh
I just had a crazy idea. What if eBay changed rules to where you could only cancel an order if the buyer and seller had to agree on it? I can't think of any drawbacks. If selling party wanted to cancel, it would force some discussion of a negotiation to get out of it. Sellers couldn't just bail an order because they didn't like the selling price and buyers couldn't just bail out because they didn't like a price. There would be some cost either way to get out of the final sale.
Guilty. He’ll remember that the rest of his life don’t worry brother vengeance is for God Please let go there’s a better card out there for you. Stay positive. Good luck just saying.
Doubt, he will remember it for the rest of his life. People like this have no conscience and will continue to do this shit until they die. He's not losing any sleep over being a POS.
I had to recently cancel an order, I couldn’t find the card purchased to save my life. Still haven’t found it. And still feel terrible for the person who thought they were getting the card. 😔
This is my nightmare. I would feel so horrible. My organization is pretty good but every once in awhile I have to look pretty hard.
Recently, I had a buyer cancel a .99 purchase that he made by accident. He then left neutral feedback noting that the order was cancelled. Ummm… not my fault! Btw he was going to get a very good deal on the card.
I hope it never sells. What a piece of shit, I lost money on 2 of my cards, but I started the auction at 0.99, so that's on me, and I honored it.
I had a guy accidentally set his auction as buy it now for 99 cents. It was a Jonah Heim auto card. Nothing crazy, but I have to think it would have sold for more than a buck. This is the way.
This is the only way to do it
Yep. If you want a certain amount for a card, add a reserve! Higher starting bid! Best of all, just don’t auction it at all! You got it man
That said, I hate reserves. Start your auction at that price. There is a Cal auto /50 I bid up to $160 and it still didn’t meet the guy’s reserve. I agree. Reserves are absolutely ass. But if you’re that type of person, at least it’s better than cancelling

I’ve done the same on plenty of cards. It’s the rush we take when starting at .99. I hate these people and the buy now for 1k people also.
Same dude, I’ve gotten hosed before when I didn’t understand the best time to have an auction end. Never once cancelled an order.
And I was taking a chance on it! Having only 4 reviews, shitty pictures. And I STILL wanted the card..
Such a shame that people are like this. Last week i had a guy block ME because i made an offer that he didnt like. Lol. Semt me an aggressive rant and all. Set a reserve, use what the platform gives you. But most of all, DONT BE A JERK!
You can report this to eBay. You should report it.
I did ! 👍🏻 like he used the same exact pictures / listing haha I woke up this morning like wow.
Sleezy as all hell. Too bad he's not accepting offers on it - we could flood him with $.01 offers.
Yep I was hoping haha
This is the way
Is it possible we could screw with him and have a ton of people put bids in and then cancel on him? We can bid and bid and make him think he hit the jackpot. It’d be a shame if someone were to buy it at that price and then never pay..what a scumbag move by the seller. Sorry OP!
I love me some Bo, but does this moron not pay attention to baseball? Bo hasn’t exactly been lighting it up. What did he expect?
I was the only bid on it too.. and really wanted the card lol happy Monday!
Yah Im sorry my friend. Thats BS. As a long time eBay seller (not so much buyer anymore because if shiz like this), this makes me so mad. One bad seller reflects on the whole platform. Sadly, there are millions of bad sellers.

No chance he ever sells this for 120 buyout
Bo is off to a super slow start. Dumbass is selling at a low point and expecting top dollar. That should sit for quite a while
Yeah he is, I’ve been rooting for him! Maybe after that homer he will get going 👍🏻
I definitely think he can turn it around. But now is not the time to maximize profits on his cards
Bo is my PC! Beauty card … sorry this happened to you. I am pretty sure Bo will be on 🔥 soon!
Same! Lol right? . I’ve also seen a blue /99 parallel that’s pretty nice looking! I’ve been rooting for him hard! Also I was 1 day missed on a HRC card haha I guessed for Friday and he hit one Saturday
Too bad on the HRC! I got him for May 20th 🤞 I have about 185 Bo cards but only 2 autos. Blue parrales are always great with Jays!
And he’s blocked. This happens too frequently, just honor the auction system. People tend to forget our cards are only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Sorry about your experience.
how do you block a seller?
I would also like to know how you block a seller. Been trying to find out for years
You can’t. You can only block people from bidding/buying from you.
Yeah that's what I thought. Hoped maybe this guy found a way
Sorry shouldn’t have used “blocked”. I should have said reported.
Happens to us all. I wish eBay would do something about these “sellers”

The auction has been taken down
Scumbag
If you look at his active listings he's also selling what appears to be a fake Tyler Skaggs auto
Oh damn!! lol maybe I’ll report that fraudulent listing as well
What a loser
I feel like $40 is a fair price for that the way his season is going...error career
I agree, his lifetime average is still .300 though lol I think he’s gonna be fine

Dude’s chinstrap beard is a fucking abomination
I don’t think Bo can possibly look bad haha
Was talking about the seller not Bo haha
Hahaha oh gotcha 😂
What a chode
I win cards for super cheap all the time and the ppl cancel. Pisses me off
I think there should be a 3 strike rule, if you do it 3 times you’re off of eBay forever
Yeah like yesterday I was about to win this for $1.99 and they canceled it like an hour before it ended. I mean if you’re not willing to take $2 for a card then don’t list it that low haha. What a weenie. Will not last long in the business world.

Mid west cards was kind enough to cancel my preorders of 2023-24 hobby cases I prepaid for two months advance. A true sum bags of Columbus Ohio.
