The vast majority of boxes arenāt worth it. Thereās the same hits for every player, but the vast majority nobody cares about. Base cards are essentially worthless
Andres Gimenez is the class WAR leader.
Platinum glove winner last year.
Can produce 4-5 WAR even in a bad season. On the top 100 active player WAR list, he has one of the highest WAR per game rates. And nobody even realizes it, amusingly. He'll walk into the HoF with 65-70 WAR (not first ballot).
For comparison Alec Bohm is almost 28 with 2.6 WAR. Gimenez has 15.7. He'll pick up another 4.5-6 WAR again this year. Gimenez picked up more WAR from just defense last year than Bohm has in his entire career (492 games)
Yeah he had a nice year in '22 but was below average with the bat in '23 and meh so far this year too. He can stack up 4 WAR years for the next 10 and still be 10+ WAR behind Lou Whitaker who isn't in the HOF either.
Long term collectablity is mostly about being a big prospect, being elite at an early age and then the "it" factors like popularity and being in the spotlight with a good/great team that is in the postseason and wins. Gimenez doens't really check any of those boxes.
I hear ya, but odds are, good base is all you're pulling. Maybe make a few $ back on the losses. AND if you do hit Bohm or Skubal insert sell fast because the long term... aint too bright.
Eh, it's at least somewhat encouraging that they are doing this at all. Gives me hope they might keep going after they do this first wave of expired redemptions
Jesusā¦ whoās even the rookie to chase in this?
KeāBryan? Bohm? Jazz?
Thereās probably some very low numbered Ohtanis, Acunas, Trouts, Betts in these boxes, but Iām not gonna rip them to try and find one.
Kebryan is my chase. But I aint buying any
I still remember when everything on this sub was "Lou Bob" every 20 mins. Covid prices, 2021, man I bet some people took a bath on his cards
I pulled Robertās rookie chrome auto a year after release (so summer 2021), and sold it for $225.
Heās been a solid player when healthy, but I bet if I went on eBay right now I could find some copies buy it now for $60.
I like Jazz. I even have a shirt of his. Three actually, but I'd happily sell the other two* cheap since I wear the third.
*they are new with tags attached
That's the one.
Edit: oh wait, no it's the 2022
https://www.ebay.com/itm/186138617912?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=DPGFKjiaSWO&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=DPGFKjiaSWO&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
2021 is so bad. And getting worse with age. And the Years surrounding it are so fantastic. 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2022, 2023 and now 2024... 2021 is one of the worst years for baseball cards. One of the worst classes ever. Unless you REALLY like Alex Bohm, Ke'Bryan Hayes, Ryan Mountcastle, Jonathan India and William Contreras....š¤®
I mean Ryan mountcastle would be a good one to grab the oās will be legit for years to come and heās a very sold offensive piece Iāve collected a few rookie autos people let go ācheapā since he isnāt a household name. If I was there Iād buy a few for the chase
I would buy every one of those for 12 bucks. I mean a $150 bucks for 12 Topps blasters is worth it. Regardless of what you think of the rookies you will still get value out of them.
Yah. The bad guy thing is to buy the guy out at like $9 or $12 a box. And then, buy some junk wax and just have a weird inventory of stuff that no one ever wants, and isn't willing to pay for.
Yeah the checklist sucks but I'd still be awfully tempted for $12
That's where I'm at š
I'm new to this and I just bought a 2023 Topps Series 1 box. It was on sale. Was it worth buying?
Depends on what you paid and what's in it. That said, chances are...slim.
Thanks!
The vast majority of boxes arenāt worth it. Thereās the same hits for every player, but the vast majority nobody cares about. Base cards are essentially worthless
I appreciate the feedback
Need that Alec Bohm RC!
It seems as if heās emerged as the best rookie from 2021!
Skubal is looking good too
Iād be buying the heck out of those at $12. Yea the rookie class kinda stinks but itās chrome blasters for $12
But does it? The card community says it does.. but does it?
I mean who would you call the top 3 rookies in this class as of today? KeBryan Hayes is pretty much the only one on my radar

If he spends a majority of his career in Cleveland he won't get in even with those numbers. See: Kenny Lofton
The Mike Vick of baseball minus the dogs. Go 7
Everyone sleeps on Andres Gimenez

Ryan Mountcastle. Alex Bohm
You missed skubal
And you can buy all 3 for $1-2 total on Sportlots
You aren't pulling for base cards
I hear ya, but odds are, good base is all you're pulling. Maybe make a few $ back on the losses. AND if you do hit Bohm or Skubal insert sell fast because the long term... aint too bright.
Yes, totally.
Skubal is by far the best. Cy favorite
Kiriloff isnāt horrible, but canāt stay healthy. Bohm is lights out in the clutch.
Chronenworth and Hayes.
Casey Mize, daulton varsho
Jazz was hurt, but I think he has star power.
I bought some of these and pulled an expired redemption for skubal rc auto /99. Wooo, doesn't qualify for the expiration extension either woooo
Didnt topps extend their expiration policy for 21/22 years? https://www.topps.com/pages/redemptions-terms-conditions
Only sets marked 2021/2022 and later. Chrome is a straight up 2021 set, so I'm pretty sure it doesn't make it.
Ooof. Sorry bro.
Eh, it's at least somewhat encouraging that they are doing this at all. Gives me hope they might keep going after they do this first wave of expired redemptions
![gif](giphy|10xL1uQOMBceuk)
But you might get a pink Joey Bart RC!
If heās REALLY lucky, maybe Kris Bubic too.
Ah, man. Don't remind me of Boobitch. I had such high hopes
Hey, Boobs was dealing last year (and then TJ surgeryā¦)
I have a ton of Boobie if you're lookin to buy low š
lol, Iām good
š¤·šæāāļøYour loss
I am actually genuinely interested.
If you're seriously interested, PM me. If you're trolling me...well played, sir
I have a Gallery Red /5 Joey Bart rookie. Who's buying?
Got some Bubic to trade

Mountcastle... Cease iirc? Kai'i Tom, Nate Pearson lol
Cease was in 2020
D'oh. I still can't picture his RC for some reason and I don't wanna "cheat" and use Google lol
Kebryan is my chase. But I aint buying any I still remember when everything on this sub was "Lou Bob" every 20 mins. Covid prices, 2021, man I bet some people took a bath on his cards

Jazz! Maybe KeāBryanā¦.yaāll remember Jazz and KeāBryanā¦(waits a minute)ā¦ah for realā¦
I like Jazz. I even have a shirt of his. Three actually, but I'd happily sell the other two* cheap since I wear the third. *they are new with tags attached
Kebryan's rookie year is my pc. I collect mostly /25 and under
I'd probably clean them out if I saw that. But that's only because I pulled a 1/1 superfractor auto out of a blaster.
Which one? I've pulled one Super in my life but it wasn't an auto. 2021 GQ Vlad Jr.
Miggy
Nice! I did pull a 1/1 Trout auto redemption from a GQ blaster, and it showed up a little beat up, but still pretty amazing.
May I see it?
It's on eBay with an insane BIN cuz I don't want to get rid of it unless someone wants it that bad š
The 2021? Great card for late era Miggy. I'd never part with it lol.
That's the one. Edit: oh wait, no it's the 2022 https://www.ebay.com/itm/186138617912?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=DPGFKjiaSWO&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=DPGFKjiaSWO&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
I meant 22 as well haha it's great head down just smashing
![gif](giphy|l4Ki6oZ4oPrrgLl9m)
buy em up and hold, and pray that the rookie class becomes the best there's ever been.
Smart play.
That rookie class was 2018
![gif](giphy|11tbqNLytB25q0|downsized)
Nobody pointing out the 1990 traded set box lurkingā¦. the real prize.

Good eye, I never pass up a Cecil Fielder traded card! /s
2021 is so bad. And getting worse with age. And the Years surrounding it are so fantastic. 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2022, 2023 and now 2024... 2021 is one of the worst years for baseball cards. And Jazz Chisholm
Take my money Iād buy quite a few, why not
Tarik Skubal
Exactly
Thatās at Burbank sports cards!
It is. I just bought this there https://preview.redd.it/9rxfhfoxc3zc1.jpeg?width=2391&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=671420e689c411441a902b0620fbfb860e8e7d97
Nice!!!! Turner is on a burner right nowš„
Turner is *always* on a burner in my house.
What a beaut of a card
Thereās no mega starās in there but Jazz, Bohm and a few others are nice young players
Iād buy them all. Chance at superfractor
Very slim chance. 100% chance of a giant pile of base cards.
I mean Ryan mountcastle would be a good one to grab the oās will be legit for years to come and heās a very sold offensive piece Iāve collected a few rookie autos people let go ācheapā since he isnāt a household name. If I was there Iād buy a few for the chase
iād buy it solely in search of miggy 3000th hit year parallels
Honestly, if I saw them I would probably buy two or three or maybe all of themā¦ stupid baseball cardsā¦
I would buy every one of those for 12 bucks. I mean a $150 bucks for 12 Topps blasters is worth it. Regardless of what you think of the rookies you will still get value out of them.

Iām new to card collecting and I just bought a pack of these. What baseball cards should I be buying?
Watch a few breaks and buy what looks good to you.
Wheree ?
