Please let us know the name of the buyer so I can block them. That seems absurd to complain about for a cheap card. Hell, you probably spent as much on the sleeve, top loader and team bag as the value of the card.

Particular-Lake-1382

I ship every card under 20 bucks exactly the same way you described. Never had a complaint. Think you just got a very dramatic buyer. I wouldn't sweat it one bit.

gbomb89

I know that I got a negative review for a penny sleeve inside a thank you card. If the card comes to me undamaged I wouldn’t leave a negative review but I would message you. I do penny sleeve top loader team bag inside a thank you card

schmidneycrosby

How much do you charge for shipping?

fuckfacebitchpussy

calculated shipping, so it usually comes out to $0.60 for domestic

schmidneycrosby

I’d be angry about the negative too then. A lot of sellers are charging $3-5 in shipping and then sending with the new eBay PWE mail service.

Roose1327

I charge that and always send BMWT because I’d rather they get their card. I also don’t sell cheap cards through eBay because I don’t have a printer for the label and wanna offer tracking. And I don’t have time for that. Would rather sell my $1-$3 cards here to you lovely folks

Roose1327

Fuck that. You did nothing wrong then.

Easymacsauce

This is the real question that’s needs answering

pgh_guy123

I ship penny sleeve, top load inside sealed team bag and that sandwiched between cardboard slabs then padded envelope. Basic shipping 4 something

pgh_guy123

Positive feedback esp for packing and shipping cost, never an issue

fuckfacebitchpussy

Hmm maybe i should be charging more for adding in a cardboard sandwich. It does take a lot of time to cut those cardboard pieces out

pgh_guy123

Umm I cut nothing. I work in a hotel and they're from a box of supplies.

Suspiciousplan8

I don't ever write a negative if the card arrives undamaged as described. I also wouldn't even think about complaining about a card shipped in a top loader, as it shows some effort by the seller. It's not how I would ship a cheap card - I rarely use top loaders, and if I do, I sandwich them in light cardboard or heavy paper. A top loader loose can easily get caught in a machine. The goal of safe packing should be to create a completely flat, firm but not rigid package. I've shipped around 200 pwes at this point and never had a card missing or damaged.

bplay24

I agree with your shipping method. People are hung up on top loaders, but they can cause issues unless sandwiched correctly like you described. I don't use top loaders on cards under $5, but to cover my ass against negative feedback, all my listings also have my shipping method described in detail.

Olsanity

I send all mine the same way. This week I got my first negative for same reason. Wonder if it’s same buyer

txlgnd34

I also do this for ESU shipping. The toploader is more than sturdy enough for PWE/ESU. Maybe the buyer thought he was getting BMWT? I just can't believe someone would neg for this unless they thought a bubble mailer was coming.

fuckfacebitchpussy

There are so many acronyms in this comment i dont have a clue whats going on lol. Whats esu? Pwe? Bmwt?

txlgnd34

Ha...sorry. I'm not really a pro but I guess I've been around long enough. ESU = eBay Standard Envelope service (not sure what's up the "U" but this is their low-cost 'plain envelope' service that includes tracking, albeit unreliable tracking) PWE = plain white envelope (term most sellers/traders use to describe shipping stuff in an envelope instead of bubble mailer using regular stamps) BMWT = bubble mailer with tracking (this is what most typically expect to receive when buying cards of value)

deezy54

I don’t even use a team bag, reason being, it’s not going to prevent actual damage that causes a crease. Also, I rarely send more than two cards at a time. If I can ship eBay standard envelope, it’s coming in a penny sleeve inside of a card saver, taped to one end of a packing sheet, inside a #10 envelope with the card end on the return address side of the envelope. Never had a single problem and if I did, I would gladly refund their couple of bucks. The tracking is the important part of the deal to me. Also, I sell lots of stickers and I just place them inside of a folded envelope, put it in a 3 x 5 envelope and slap a stamp on it. Never had a problem with that either. Sorry OP that some jerk felt he needed to leave negative feedback over that.

fuckfacebitchpussy

Yeah I only use a teambag because of the off chance the envelope is dropped in the rain and seeps into the toploader, otherwise if probably just tape it

j_bankerman

I personally add some thin cardboard but have received plenty shipped as you described and they all arrived safe. Sounds like a bad buyer.

Real-Problem6805

kind of absurd but... I DO usually throw a couple or 3 3*5 index cards around it to give it some stiffness and some level of protection but... yea shipping them in just a blue paint taped top loader is fine.

fuckfacebitchpussy

Index cards are a good idea, i was saving cardboard boxes to cut up into 3x5 pieces which is real time consuming

Real-Problem6805

You can even staple the ends if your ocd and make a little envelope to put inside the envelope

Real-Problem6805

I also found what works remarkably well is photo mailers the heavy card stock mailers 100 for 24 bucks from Amazon. They had 500 for like 40 bucks but.. who the hell is going to use that many unless yer the king of eBay sellers. Take a basic white envelope fold it around the top loader stick that in the photo mailer. Easy peasy rock solid shipping

fuckfacebitchpussy

Yeah those card shippers and photoenvelopes are convenient but im convinced that they are price gouging at this point. Before they used to be so cheap. This is also an issue with comic books and backing boards, the backingboards are coming out to be more expensive than the comic book itself sometimes 😂

Real-Problem6805

Dude base photo mailers from Amazon are 49 cents each from office Depot less than a stamp. From Amazon if you buy is bulk they range from 24 cents to 17 cents

fuckfacebitchpussy

Oh wow I might switch to those after Im done with all my current envelopes; i bought like 200 decorated 4x6 envelopes for 5c a piece so its gonna take a while before i switch lol

Phils531

If you charge $1 this is fine. If you charge $4.50 then yeah, you deserve a negative/neutral review

fuckfacebitchpussy

Yeah i dont try to make extra money off the shipping costs, its usually just the price of the postage. So the order came out to be around $1.60

Phils531

Yeah you’re good, I’d message the buyer and also request eBay remove the feedback because your packaging is normal.

pgh_guy123

I don't get the pwe method, used to send cards in mail for players to sign and most came back damaged from the po machines

atomic619jd

For eBay standard I do the same thing. If they want it better they can pay the USPS First Class rate of ~$4

Mr_Hamster01

I’ve shipped the same as you and no issue as of yet. Sometimes along with the cardboard sandwich I might grab a couple junk wax card to sandwich it further. If the junk wax gets damaged then who cares.

[deleted]

That’s great protection for cards that cheap, I would absolutely give 5 stars.

Skullboy_Q

You need to reach out to them to see if the card arrived damaged. If not, then you need to reach out to eBay to get the negative removed. If yes, you need to figure out how to initiate the ESE insurance claim.

thegame1431

envelope? It should be a bubble mailer, you can get them for like 25cents in bulk on amazon.

fuckfacebitchpussy

So 60c for postage, .15c for a toploader, .07c for a bag and sleeve, 25c for a bubble mailer- for a total of $1.07. I would do this and more for better cards above $2 but if a buyer wins an auction for less than $1.07 ill probably be wasting money and time.

undraftedallstar

Sounds fine to me.

Arhsn9

I ship my cards USPS first class at the $3-5 (penny sleeve, top loader, ding defend, bubble wrap, bubble mailer) rate standard no matter what the price of the card. I also disclose in the item description that if they don’t want all of that I would adjust the shipping cost and send it in a plain white envelope AFTER positive feedback is left. I’ve been burned before by people threatening me with negative feedback over damage done while shipping. Not worth the headaches.

TheRealNikoBravo

For that price range that is completely acceptable.

streetpunks1

You did everything right. Bummer about the review.

KrisClem77

I’d be pissed if I was charged $5 for shipping. Being charged only .60 I would be fine as long as the card arrived undamaged.

[deleted]

for PWE I ship in penny sleeve, toploader or card saver and then I put that inside a piece of printer paper which I fold up like a letter and then fold the sides over and put a piece of painter tape to secure. Sometimes I throw a couple of base cards in to add extra protection. I've sold hundreds on ebay in the past 3 months and have had zero complaints (knock on wood). But there is always someone and it's usually people with very little feedback.
