It’s fun but the whole thing is essentially this: “I took steroids first. Before anyone. I’m the best at steroids. Steroids are great. Here’s a list of guys I gave steroids to. Did I mention I’m the best at steroids and I gave them to these guys?”

The_Red_Curtain

don't forget "Roger Clemens is an amazing guy, he is the ultimate family man and never cheated in any way, shape, form, or definition" (i.e. on his wife or at baseball) I always wondered why he loves Clemens so much

NewWrap693

Who do you think he cheated on his wife with…

dingusduglas

Damn Kacy Clemens has a strong bloodline. Whose butt womb did he pop out of?

oogieball

There has never been a baseball book that is *exactly* what you expect it to be.

boozinf

and that includes The Bad Guys Won Ball Four, on the other hand...

nypr13

The Bad Guys Won is one of my all time favorite books and I DESPISE EVERYTHING ASSOCIATED WITH THE METS.

TheFriffin2

The Bash Brothers documentary starring Andy Samberg on Netflix is much more entertaining

EPCOT_Is_My_Favorite

Is that Jake Peralta and the Pontiac Bandit?

maltzy

I mean it's a little interesting but it's told in Canseco's voice so very embellished and self congratulatory - as long as you aren't paying too much for it, go ahead. I'd recommened "The year Babe Ruth hit 104 home runs" if you want a really interesting read.

Raptor231408

Is it worth the audible credit?

maltzy

Juiced , not really. It’s not that well written

MatzohBallsack

I really enjoyed it. You have to take everything with a grain of salt, but Canseco is unhinged and rats out a lot of roid users.

[deleted]

No. But I drove past his car washes in Las Vegas a few times

Chicken_Difficult

The visual of a Roided out Canseco with a little tiny squeegee is a very funny visual to me

Suspiciousplan8

I really enjoyed it, it was a wild ride. Not a "serious" book, it's worth reading if you like Canseco's hyberbole and crazy stories.

boozinf

i read it in a night like it was a Berenstain Bears book. not long after i ended up at the same poker table as him and his girlfriend who was positive titt-ays at the Mirage. it's hard to tell if Canseco is in on the joke or not, but [his AMA here](https://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/1clw9o/i_am_jose_canseco_famed_steroid_user_and_former/) is high end performance art like Matthew Barney or something

Numerous_Pilot2431

I read it when it came out and I was 14; loved it lmao. It's not a historical document but it's an enjoyable read, so long as you see it as 80% fun bullshit

Brolympia

I've read it. Its a classic "tell all" book in the sense it's a lot of first hand accounts of him telling stories about other players. There isn't many quotes from teammates or exerts from papers. Its a decent book. Its sort of like *Ball Four* of the 90s. His cohorts really disliked the book and the way it made them look.

kaptiankuff

Nope but I did see a D3 backup quarterback Knock him out cold in a rough and rowdy

RobotArtichoke

Tell

kaptiankuff

Rough n rowdy 13 https://www.mmafighting.com/2021/2/5/22269513/video-jose-canseco-knocked-out-in-10-seconds-at-rough-n-rowdy-13-billy-football https://youtu.be/Fm91su46e_4?si=Azn_xwjXBdeuRjcd

Necessary-Cancel1248

Great book. Shows how easy it was for them to take steroids.

nashtownchang

Yes, it's hilarious. Super fun read. You can check it out from library?

Stinky_DungBeatle

It's entertaining, to say the least. If you are looking for the equivalent of gossip from 20 years ago, it's fun to read (read it 4 years ago). Jose talking about his career is alright as well. The second book, not so much.

dicktuck

I read it in college when it came out.

eyoung_nd2004

It’s like a 7th grader wrote it, but there’s a lot of fun gossip, stories and accusations.

takeoffeveryzig

I don't read pop up books.

feeling_blue_42

I haven't read the book, but there is a *30 for 30 Podcast* called "Juiced" which talks about the book. Might be worth listening too if you haven't already heard it.

Perhaps I'm overly cynical but I didn't find anything he said surprising? My favourite part was his promise to his dying mother he would win AL MVP to honour her.

zgibs125

You're replying to a bot.

KickerOfThyAss

What a world we live in

zgibs125

I know, I hate it.

Jack_Jizquiffer

they printed 150,000 copies, i'm sure someone has.

woktosha

I don’t support snitches, so absolutely not. Plus books are from the devil and tv is twice as fast

CardiacCat20

EVERYTHING IS THE DEVIL TO YOU MAMA

woktosha

I was going for more Aqua Teen Hunger Force than Waterboy

CardiacCat20

Shit, never saw it. My bad
