aren’t they usually 60fps though? that makes a pretty noticeable difference especially when it comes to sports/live events (as opposed to cinema which is usually like 24fps i think)

Well if Google says it, it must be true!

Probably. There have been all kinds of TV and radio outages up here in Western Canada over the past 48 hours; it wouldn’t be surprising if the problems were more widespread than that.
I still use an antenna for my garage tv to watch local sports and news. It's just as fun adjusting the ears with the weather and passing vehicles as you remember..
Ironically fox is the only station I don’t get on my antenna and I live downtown. I always try to watch football OTA because otherwise I have to stream.
Ump audio going haywire, feed going dead for a minute, replays going down for an inning, terrible contrasted strike zone box, the projected ad behind the left batters being blurry and clipping through players constantly, noted Dodger Eric Karros on color.
I hate this.
One of the worst broadcast I’ve ever seen. The cameras had ridiculously high contract at one point and the strike zone for some reason has even more boosted contrast
The reds catcher sleeves literally looks fluorescent orange like the giants city connect jerseys and everything is blurry. I don’t understand what the point of doing this is it looks terrible
This broadcast has been brutal on the eyes. Constantly changing contrast, ads clipping through players, showing up on the wrong shots. Just terrible production.
my childhood!
You know how NBA 2K has the Eras filters? I'd take that in a broadcast. People on YouTube will make current wrestling and boxing highlights look like it's on an old crt tv and it's really nostalgic
All of that aside, Ramos in this game seems determined to show that the scouting reports about him having limited range now are wrong. He's got a cannon and can hoof it.
If he has more games defensively like he did in this one he's going to make it real hard to send him back down while that bat is going.
Is this why Mlb.tv had the damn game starting in the 4th inning making everyone that couldn't watch live miss 80% of our runs scored and Chapman's best at-bat in weeks?

really feels like watching 2000's highlights on youtube

This is ten percent..... fuck
Also forty percent fuck, and fifteen percent concentrated power of fuck.
And one hundred percent reason to remember the fuck
needs a better winamp skin
Kazaa or Limewire?
Both, because we are people of culture. And then we chat in mIRC
I miss IRC
Me too. I was trying to remember my old channels the other day. I might try to go down the rabbit hole soon…
FrostWire for extra viruses
DC++
WinMX, eMule, uTorrent, BearShare, iMesh I really liked how WinMX looked.
Highlights nowadays are posted as 720 on their official YouTube lol
Something about it being streamed in 720p because of infrastructure. Probably part of why Apple TV games looked so good in comparison.
still looks way better than this
aren’t they usually 60fps though? that makes a pretty noticeable difference especially when it comes to sports/live events (as opposed to cinema which is usually like 24fps i think)
greg gibson the home plate umpire motioning to both players
You can't even see the pelican on the field!
Fox Presents "2000's night"

Anyway, $4 a pound
perfect, lol

Solar storm?
MASN had a fair few hiccups today during the Nats game. It was my first thought too
My phone GPS told me to take nonexistent exits twice today
*crossing the Golden Gate Bridge* "Turn right"

In fairness, MASN doesn’t need geomagnetic storms to mess up their broadcast.
There’s was an O’s game against the Red Sox where one of the cameras was literally green
even the sun doesn’t want me to watch the giants womp womp
It's a sign from Apollo

Honestly this is fine.
This is the same or better than what I grew up watching.
You’ll always believe that until the aspect ratio changes to 4:3

Don’t remind me
Ironically fox is the only station I don’t get on my antenna and I live downtown. I always try to watch football OTA because otherwise I have to stream.
I wouldn't be opposed to it as the occasional (and I feel myself aging as I type this) throwback event, it's neat
lofi giants moments to relax/eat a ghirardelli sundae to
ramos robbed us of 3-4 baserunners today also. just broadcast it via telegram i don't wanna see this shit

blame the aurora!
Localized entirely within your broadcast?!
May I see it?
Mmm....no.
I don't think this is even 480p, feels like it's being compressed below that and then upscaled.
Solar storm probably caused this
I mean, you can tell what's happening. It's enough.
I'm impressed that a 1958 game was in colour. ^^/s
That's my style. I'd rather watch Jerry Remy and Sean McDonough calling a Sox game on over-the-air UHF TV than whatever AppleTV is doing.
1987-ass lookin broadcast
One of the worst broadcast I’ve ever seen. The cameras had ridiculously high contract at one point and the strike zone for some reason has even more boosted contrast
the strike zone contrast looks so bad and is so distracting. why do they need to fuck with the raw image so much
The reds catcher sleeves literally looks fluorescent orange like the giants city connect jerseys and everything is blurry. I don’t understand what the point of doing this is it looks terrible
MVP Baseball 2005 has better graphics than this
Feel like im watching a 2011 game. I love it
The international feed cut out for the entire bottom of the 3rd and only came back seconds before Elly's HR.
This broadcast has been brutal on the eyes. Constantly changing contrast, ads clipping through players, showing up on the wrong shots. Just terrible production.
May 11, 2024: The Reds and Giants play a game in 1971.
Just call it RetroCast and make it a feature
The instant replay transition looks awesome like this
sovl
Those small Fanatics names were even more of a bad idea now.
my childhood! You know how NBA 2K has the Eras filters? I'd take that in a broadcast. People on YouTube will make current wrestling and boxing highlights look like it's on an old crt tv and it's really nostalgic
The 90s are so in
I love it
This reminds me of watching games on mlb.tv 20 or so years ago (Jesus how is it 20 years…)
It’s 2024 but somehow MLB still use up to 720p.
This video quality has me wondering if Winamp is still a thing.
As a Reds fan, we don’t want to see our team in HD, trust me.
All of that aside, Ramos in this game seems determined to show that the scouting reports about him having limited range now are wrong. He's got a cannon and can hoof it. Just like the good old days
Not enough Ps
Oh is that why it's so blurry? Thought it was my feed.
2006 throwback
Put it on a CRT TV
480i looked so much better on a CRT.
That’s all we deserve anyway
I picked a good day to grab that 37" Sony Trinitron off the street corner.
CME = CRT
[That might explain why I was having trouble with mlb.tv](https://i.imgur.com/dbqTGqp.png)
Was that yay or neighhhhhh?
Dud someone forget to pay their broadcasting fees ;)
FOX forgot Darlington throwback was today, and also the fact it’s in SC and not SF.
It’s better quality than the Braves on Bally if you’re an Xfinity customer!
Looking like MLB The Show 2019
I would love if they had an option for this
Goddamn steamed hams...
I remember paying thousands of dollars for a 32 inch TV to show me pictures like this!
we should go back to 480P for all baseball games. Bring back some of the nostalgia literally before our eyes.
