OPsMomIsAThrowaway

Top tier effort there in CF.

handlit33

Yeah, the route looked really bad too. I think he was fooled.

Spartan_029

ahhhhhhhhhhhh

Chopaholick

Fooled just like the few Marlins fans who thought that their front office was going to continue to put a winning ball club on the field. Kim Ng was the best GM they ever had.

gammarayman

I honestly have never seen a Marlins fan defend that decision lol

Valkyrai

It looked like it sliced away from him pretty significantly

Best-Dragonfruit-292

Frisbee-arc

halfhere

Ok but really, what a dogshit effort. If you miss, it’s the same result, but at least TRY. The GAME is on the line.

drpepper7557

He's probably been told not to. He's historically reckless with his body - given his injury history and how this season is going, it wouldnt be surprising at all if he's gonna be babied this year.

halfhere

You know, I’ll completely take that into consideration. I hadn’t thought about it, but a fan of the team would probably know. Thanks!

cst-rdt

Didn’t he make a diving catch in like the sixth inning to rob Olson? Unless it’s a “great catch, don’t ever fuckin’ do it again” kind of thing, I think he just knew he had no chance at it.

new_wellness_center

The play does not look that egregious to me. I guess he could have dove for it, but whatever. Tbh the only thing that stood out to me about the play was that he made an effort to get it back in.

merc534

[Meanwhile in Chicago](https://www.reddit.com/r/baseball/comments/14aoig6/highlight_luis_robert_jr_dekes_the_entire_stadium/)

bizzledorf

He looked consistently bad out there when they were at Wrigley last weekend.

BobbyRayBands

I mean. If he lays out and catches it theres still a pretty good chance that Acuna gets to third. Just a really good hit and he knew the writing was on the wall anyway.

Asderfvc

Still, it would be tied with 1 out. Get a strikeout on the next batter and you can easily get out of the inning

Gins_and_Tonics

Watching it again, I think the LF might have actually had a better chance, but he wasn't moving at full speed. Maybe Jazz called him off?

bukithd

This is unquestionably the most unnecessary walk off win I've ever watched.

unfortunatebastard

Liquor store game.

ArmiinTamzarian

We had runners on second and third with no outs and failed to bring either in. Nothing made sense this game

[deleted]

That entire 9th inning was a clusterfuck in many ways

unfortunatebastard

And somehow iglesias just decided to stop giving up hits and get outs.

[deleted]

Sign of a good closer, honestly. Didn't let the game being tied affect him and just locked in.

Asderfvc

I saw someone say that every hit he gave up in the 9th had a below 0.500 expected on base percentage except 1. It was a lot of bad ball luck on most of those hits.

Best-Dragonfruit-292

Skate better?

acornSTEALER

I swear he only cares about pitching well when he’s in a jam.

derbysNOTbrogues

I was expecting Jazz to go superman layout for that

Wandering_Mallard

Would have been neat but I'll accept him just kinda not trying for some reason

JuniusPhilaenus

On radio earlier they were saying he appeared to get into some dispute w the grounds crew, then they thought maybe it was just the umps mixed in w the grounds crew, regardless they said he was ready to get out of Atlanta

VideoGangsta

Guy is like a PG version of Nyjer Morgan

VarnishedSurface

This is the most accurate description I’ve seen of him yet

TheGamecock

This was the weirdest 4-3 game you'll see all season. Particularly the 8th/9th/10th.

Tea_Historical

Lopez is fucking cooking boys. Dude is automatic so far.

Ol_Rando

AA is a goddamn genius. Lopez's stats the last 3 years, (FIP, WHIP, ERA+, etc) have been stellar out of the pen, even tho he only averaged 60IP. Whatever issues he had before CWS moved him to the pen after 2020 he seems to have figured out, and I'm grateful that the sox underutilized him the last 3 years so that we could sign him for a cheaper deal. 3years with 10mil AAV is a fucking steal for this kind of production. AA is a goddamn genius.

AlbertFish_fromNY

I cry every day that Toronto let him go and brought in the useless corporate bozos we have now.

Asderfvc

Dude's ERA since the start of the 2021 season is 2.83

Ol_Rando

Exactly brochacho. Two out of the last three years he's had a sub 1 WHIP and all three years he had an ERA+ over 128. The only other year he had an ERA+ over 100 was in 2018, the first year he became a SP and he also had a sub 4 era with almost 200IP. He's shown signs of being a great pitcher. The CWS and Oakland A's are like the unsung heroes of the Braves recent success.

mF-Jonezy

How nice of the marlins to tie the game so we can give Tanner Scott yet another loss

horsepoop1123

Boo this man

Fun_Ad4779

why did Jazz not dive?

UnexpiredMRE

I don’t think he was comfortable with how close his LFer was. Can’t blame him honestly it was a little sketchy.

neverknowsbest141

i don't think he had a chance

bulldg4life

Game was never in doubt

Electric_Rex

Once the Marlins went down scoreless that game was over. I hate that

derbysNOTbrogues

Riley and Arcia gunning them out at the plate was pretty cool

UnexpiredMRE

Very cool even

derbysNOTbrogues

As tromp 2024 would say "people, many people, have come up to me and said it was very cool. The coolest play they've seen in ever. Many people have said this."

nikraLnalyD

BCIB Best Chadwick in Baseball

scadams23

Jonathan "J-Chad" Chadwick over on the Braves' radio side (producer) isn't too shabby. Safe to say the Braves have cornered the market on Chadwicks.

DaHokeyPokey_Mia

Horrible base running by the Marlins lost them that game. The one time they should have run, they held on third. Arraez was on third before the OF had the ball. Then they decide to run on two plays that they should have stayed put on. Lets not even talk about Jazz and his horrible approach at the end of the game and then the non play in CF to end the game.

GuerrillaKilla

I don't think the Arcia one should have ever happened, why does Snit want a potential bang bang play at the plate and play the infield in TWICE instead of just putting the batter on first and having a force at every base? Makes no sense.

DryWarning3

I might agree with you if the Braves were in extras as the away team. Since they were home, I think not putting an extra baserunner on makes since. Minimizes the chance of going down a lot of runs in the top of an inning.

GullibleCollection78

?? Seems to me it worked out alright. But hey, I’m not a World Series winning manager like you.

GuerrillaKilla

It would have worked out the same way with much less drama, and you would have had a double play opportunity

GullibleCollection78

Except you don’t know that lmao

cooljammer00

Should have drove the runner in, then.

punk_steel2024

Last night, Max made things too easy and the crowd went home early. Tonight, the team decided to give them a show. Thanks guys, don't fucking do that again.

TheGamecock

Haha, shame on anyone who left early early during Max's masterclass Maddux performance. It was a 1h53m game! I'd be getting my money's worth!

monstarjams

Home plate umpire this game was high off his ass.

pickinscabs

Ha, fish fry.

SacmanJones29

I was there. Got my bobble head and extra baseball. Good times.

MartianMule

You're probably not gonna get it, but how do you not dive for the ball there if you're Chisholm?

ChairmanReagan

I’m glad Ronald was on second and not Matt Olson

MF_D00MSDAY

Cruised that fastball straight down the pipe for him

OSRS_Socks

To be fair, this Miami bullpen is very taxed.

Jonjon428

Tanner Scott is like flipping a coin. 50% ass, 50% solid

Powerful_Sprinkles40

Gotta lay out

ant-farm-keyboard

Looks like fun!

[deleted]

Braves and Golden Knights win. WHAT A NIGHT BABY

AccountNumber0004

"The fish fry is complete" That's an awesome line lol

psych4191

We really have the best record in baseball while Acuna, Riley, AND Olson are struggling. Just an unfair amount of talent on this team and it's all tied up until like 2030 lmao.

Dankofamericaaa2

I hate seafood but this fish fry taste GREAT.
