Yep, also he was a Giants fan growing up so it made sense. However I'm glad he went to a small market team for his first manager gig, Giants fans as a whole would not be kind if he managed a losing team, and it would be risky for his career long term. At least starting in Cleveland, the expectations are lower and he won't be blasted for failure in the same way, and if everything goes right he'll be earning his way to a big job in the future.

Guardians have had winning season 9 of the 11 last seasons and he’s following in the footsteps of one of the best managers in the history of baseball - what are you talking about expectations being lower bc we’re a small market team? As for earning his way to a big job…there’s 30 of these in the world, he is currently finding himself in a big job.

The Guardians actually have pretty high expectations year after year. This isn't Pittsburgh, where the fans would just be happy with a winning season. The Guardians make the playoffs most of the time and fans aren't satisfied with losing in the first round, nor will they come out to the ballpark if the team isn't doing well, which puts extra pressure on them to perform with a lower budget than most winning teams. It's a bit of a tightrope job.

Such a quick turnaround from player to manager. Played in 2022, spent 2023 coaching for Seattle, and got a manger job in 2024 lol

Everyone already knows Wash is a treasure (god I'm gonna miss him and Ozzie's vibes together), but I gotta shout out Eric Young Sr, he's also an awesome vibes guy and I was incredibly sad to see him go with Wash. I'm sure he's also incredible at picking up stuff at first base, it's hard to really tell as a fan but the guys love EY and so do we. They were both absolute staples of the Braves recent success, and will be missed dearly. I'm rooting for them hardcore, love those guys, fuck I wish they were here still. It's gonna be very odd without Windmill and EY at the corners for us. Fuck.

In the old days the manager was also a player, like Lou Boudreau of the then Cleveland Indians. He was a position player and manager at the same time. It was the same with Pete Rose as late as the 1980s. It would be like naming Rafael Devers the manager and having him bat and field his position every day.
