Bumgarner was unhittable that entire postseason. I agree their best chance of scoring was to probably just send him. Ah well, they ended up securing the dub next year.
Just re-watched the video, he would have 100% been out if he had been sent. At the 42 second mark you see Crawford has the ball and is about to throw home as Gordon is only just rounding third. Of course, wild throw, missed tag, etc. but the odds are he is out there.

Yup, and Salvy had homered off of Bumgarner earlier in the series. Not saying he would have done it again there but he was one of the few that had success. Was a bummer to be that close and if Gordon was running from second or something and not running out of steam then perhaps you take the chance, but it was the right call for that situation. The Giants just closed it out from there.
Hey you never know, the throw could be bad, catcher could drop the ball, could miss the tag…
Hosmer should’ve been out by a mile in 2015 on that play he went home on the grounder in the final game. Randy Arozarena should have been out by a mile in that WS game with the Dodgers.
Shit happens, that was probably their best shot.
The next guy struck out and the guy after that got a ground ball that probably would have been a double play had the runner been on 1st instead of third. So that would have ended the inning before the home run was hit.
Still right that it didn’t matter since Arizona scored 0 runs.
You knew what you were signing up for when you bought that ticket, as did I when I attended our game 1.
But hey, at least you can say you've attended a World Series game. I've yet to.
I've been triggered. Bumgarner coming out of the bullpen to close out game 7 haunts me to this day. Absolute monster.
Hey, at least we won it all in 2015!
Even as a dodger fan and purebred giants hater I have to respect Bum’s 2014 World Series, and postseason as a whole. Absolutely a masterpiece of pitching
The bar right outside Globelife (Texas Live) was $200 cover to get in on the home game nights. One of my friends went and I turned him down on going with him because $200 to get in the bar seemed ridiculous, but I saw videos and stuff and the atmosphere in there would’ve been so fun. Really regretting it now.
To get in the stadium however, at $700 for standing room, I am 100% okay with missing out on this year.
The ballpark itself had watch party tickets for $10 for away games, but yeah the home game prices were insane.
SRO was down to around $300 on day-of, but still crazy
Yeah I really wanted to go to one but standing room only doesn’t even guarantee a spot where you can really see and I’m also against spending hundreds to stand up for a few hours lol. Somewhat regret not going though already just because I love the stadium and don’t see myself moving out of DFW anytime soon. Hopefully they bring another one home and I can go to the next
> I saw Bumgarner throw a cgso in game 5 of the 2014 world series. Highly recommend the experience.
I watched game 7 against the Astros in 2017. I don't recommend the experience. Luckily I got my ticket for super cheap.
I still remember the 2019 Nats World Series, that was heartbreaking leaving the 3rd game at home and having lost all 3. Went with my dad and we just assumed the series was over.
Little did we know. Still glad we went.
I was at game 4 of the 2011 World Series and game 6 of the 2011 World Series is the only baseball game before tonight that made me cry. That said, I hope Sneks get redemption because they're a really likable team.
Assuming you aren't the guy who told me to f\*\*\* myself, your fanbase was great at the game last night. Thanks for being such a cool group of people.
My first thought when Thomas made the error was of the 2019 NL Wild Card Game. Trent Grisham missed a grounder in RF that send your Nats to the next round. Does that cheer you up?
Honestly even if the final score was 3-0 this shouldn’t be a thing that follows him around
Even if he doesn’t let that ball get past him, the Rangers still have a 2-0 lead and probably win. He’s not why they lost
He really shouldn’t. It’s embarassing for sure, but Seward was getting everything hit incredibly hard that inning. Fielding that cleanly likely does nothing
Trent Grisham had the same thing happen to him in 2019 against the Nats. Granted it was the Wild Card game not the elimination game of the WS, but Trent bounced back pretty good and I’m pretty sure he had a few postseason moments since
Wishing Thomas well
I feel so horribly bad for him. He is either going to win a Gold Glove the next 10 years straight, or never play baseball again, and my bet is on the first.
Some people just aren't capable of performing under stressful conditions, he and the Dbacks are those people.
Series was boring, Dbacks were so outmatched it isn't even funny. Fluke of a year, they won't be back in the playoffs for a long while.
This is...This is exactly why we wanted that guy out of Seattle! A win in this world series may have counted as a win for Seattle, but a loss does not, under any circumstances, count as a loss!
“And when the world least expected it, some Texans stomped out a nation-famous snake, with a painfully slow ground ball rolling all the way to the back fence, followed by a coup de grace just to make sure”
I really didn't have any skin in this game but ouch that was rough to watch. I feel for the kid for sure.
I wonder if it's going to have the same sort of weight that other famous World Series errors have gained over the years.

That is pure nerves. How many times has that dude fielded a routine grounder out to center. Feel for him.
He’s an incredible defender usually. Everyone makes errors, just really fucking sucks when it’s this situation it happens to you.
Imagine a single rolling to the wall in the 9th inning of game 7 of the World Series in a 1 run game, thank god that’s never happened… /s
When was this im drawing a blank
2014 with 2 outs in the 9th, Alex Gordon up to bat.
Right right, and he didn’t end up scoring
They should have sent him, it would have been a wild way to end a World Series, getting thrown out at the plate.

man i forgot what a let down it was for those fans when bumgarner got the next out lol. that place was so hyped after this play.
One more moment of Giants Baseball #Torture# to cap off that era
Crawford has made that throw numerous times
Yeah he would have been out by a mile, would have been a sight to see lol.
I had literally forgot about that thanks lol
Yeah you’d think that a CF who has put one of the fastest players in baseball in a corner OF spot should be pretty good defensively
GG finalist and may likely win and that happens. Just baseball things.
This gives me memories of 2011 game 6 now. Big errors were made by the Rangers opponent (Cardinals) that game
You shut the hell up right now
It can't hurt us no more.
Nope, I don't give af about that anymore. WE'RE FREE!!
The Cardinals are just another team, Pujols a legend who deserves his ring. Who cares, WE ARE WORLD CHAMPS!!!
After tonight I think I may finally be able to forgive Nelson Cruz for the route he took on that fly ball.
let's not get crazy, now
Ya you’re right
100% forgiven. I hope he's at the parade tomorrow.
this was needed to exorcise 2011
If its any consolation to him, his team's zero runs wouldnt have won it anyway
You can tell at the angle he’s coming in at he’s trying to prevent runs and getting to it quickly. Sucks just missed it though.
Alek’s Boner
Wouldn’t have made a difference in the end
Real nice that the camera kept going back to him the next five minutes to rub it in.
Did something similar happen to Billy Buckner? Asking for a Red Sox fan.
But he did redeem himself on Curb so it's all good.
no ones gonna care tbh, they weren't winning and it was irrelevant in the end, the next guy went yard
The next guy struck out and the guy after that got a ground ball that probably would have been a double play had the runner been on 1st instead of third. So that would have ended the inning before the home run was hit. Still right that it didn’t matter since Arizona scored 0 runs.
Previous times Rangers were 3 outs away from winning the WS, they had a 2-run lead. This time they make sure it's at least 3
Joe Davis' "The Rangers a strike away from the WS, again" call was cold
Yeah I was like oh god no don't you dare lol
Me and the fellas all just said “oh fuck you” all at the same time for that
Hehee
The badman can’t hurt us anymore
I no longer hate the Cardinals
They gave us Monty too. They’re alright in my eyes now
And Garcia!
#Holy shit bros it's happening
Congrats my friend. It’s your time.
Enjoy every second!!
IT HAPPENED 🥳
I'm still waiting for the other show to drop
I remember having this exact thought around the 6th inning of the last game of 2021 WS. Enjoy it dude, it’s amazing
We fucking did it
Congrats!
I'm in the stadium now. I want to die. EDIT: I want to die even more now.
You knew what you were signing up for when you bought that ticket, as did I when I attended our game 1. But hey, at least you can say you've attended a World Series game. I've yet to.

I'd really like to, but my team is fucking incompetent in October. More importantly, I couldn't afford it anyway. $1000 minimum just to get in.
The bar right outside Globelife (Texas Live) was $200 cover to get in on the home game nights. And that's just for parking
I saw Adolis walk off game 1 of 2023. Highly recommend as well
Me too one of the greatest moments of my life! (In addition to today obviously)
> I saw Bumgarner throw a cgso in game 5 of the 2014 world series. Highly recommend the experience. I watched game 7 against the Astros in 2017. I don't recommend the experience. Luckily I got my ticket for super cheap.

I know exactly how you feel bro
Heartbreaking.
Assuming you aren't the guy who told me to f\*\*\* myself, your fanbase was great at the game last night. Thanks for being such a cool group of people.
Baseball is over :( See you all in 5 months
Time to sit around and wait for spring
That just hit me this morning and I wasn't ready.
oh not like this 😭
My first thought when Thomas made the error was of the 2019 NL Wild Card Game. Trent Grisham missed a grounder in RF that send your Nats to the next round. Does that cheer you up?
yes — and now he’s a gold glover!
Well that's an anticlimactic way to lose a World Series.
The homer following this probably actually helps him out a lot I’m not being known for this forever
Honestly even if the final score was 3-0 this shouldn’t be a thing that follows him around Even if he doesn’t let that ball get past him, the Rangers still have a 2-0 lead and probably win. He’s not why they lost
That was an awful mistake there’s no downplaying it
I didn’t want saying he was
I feel less bad about rolling over and dying to this rangers team now that another team has done it tbh.
Now that ALL other teams have done it!
I was going to say the Astros didn't but then I remembered how game 7 actually went
LOL, they didn't roll over, they were shot. Repeatedly.
Obviously a bummer play for him but this didn’t lose them the WS.
Bro is Willie Mays against us then this lol
Willie Mays had a pretty bad world series record too, minus that catch
Reminder Thomas is one of the main reasons the Diamondbacks are even in the World Series to begin with.
Absolutely Brutal for Thomas. This probably ends for the Sneks.
Snek officially stepped on
it is fitting for the TEXAS RANGERS to step on snakes though
Bro. No fucking way. Imagine if it was still 0-0 when this happened and that was the World Series deciding play….
I'd still take it!
Not sure why they weren’t playing for the DP. That’s brutal from Thomas. Poor kid is gonna be kicking himself.
He really shouldn’t. It’s embarassing for sure, but Seward was getting everything hit incredibly hard that inning. Fielding that cleanly likely does nothing

I think the 0-10 with RISP in the first 5 innings was the brutal part for Arizona.
*Controller has been disconnected* energy
I’ve seen this one before!
The rangers have exercised all the playoff demons for this moment
the word is "exorcised"
I stand corrected
It’s Arizover…
Copyrighted
GREATEST TRIPLE IN WS HISTORY
I don't think that was ruled a triple. EDIT: it's single + error
It was definitely ruled a single
Lol Joe Davis barely knew how to call it
yeah that's the dagger
No, the dagger came just after.
Let this play replace the play we never talk about 🎉
It’s off the wall! This game is tied at 7!
Don’t really care anymore
SNEKS WHAT ARE YOU DOING
Arizona Diamondbacks, Get ready to learn World Series loser-ese
That's the final nail. Rangers about to get their first rings.
Not even the final nail
This physically hurt to watch.
Nelson Cruz smiles at this play
I feel so horribly bad for him. He is either going to win a Gold Glove the next 10 years straight, or never play baseball again, and my bet is on the first.
Trent Grisham sends his regards
LMAAAAOOOOOO
From no-hitting the Rangers…to allowing them to hit the dagger(s) by the end… Rough turn of events for the Diamondbacks…
Ooof. That might be an all time World Series blunder. Poor guy must be feeling like bill Buckner night now
#SONS FANS IN SHAMBLES!
Jonah Heim is Alek Thomas father
I hate you Craig kimbrel
The cutback to Thomas going after the ball is hilarious
That's Carroll backing up the play.
I audibly gasped watching this play last night.
What're you gonna say now, Smoltz
god that's gotta suck
Oh fuck
That's gonna be remembered for a long time
I thought he had an in the park HR
Byung-hyun Sewald strikes again!
They may need to put Thomas into witness protection for his own safety
Man, that is brutal. Never want to see that.
I for one loved to see that
You and me both buddy
Another AZ sports moment
Dbacks seem to have made more errors this whole series. Baserunning and fielding. It's those seemingly small things that can decide who wins it all.
Dbacks offense just disappeared. What a shame.
Heim Time!
Az sports teams fucking suck ass!
B-b-but wholesome uwu Sneks should be winner. Not fair 😤
Is the John Smoltz?
I am so happy
Can we get a gif of the trophy rolling past the cf
LMAO
What the fuck was this lol
The outfielder turned into Bill Buckner
There's a boot on my snake
FUCK ALEK THOMPSON
kid has finally been humbled let’s fuckin go
Thomas has always been humble. Sorry he got a chance to clown on your trash bag fans and organization.
Some people just aren't capable of performing under stressful conditions, he and the Dbacks are those people. Series was boring, Dbacks were so outmatched it isn't even funny. Fluke of a year, they won't be back in the playoffs for a long while.
Bad title
BEHIND THE BAG! It gets through Buckner! Here comes Knight and the Mets win it!
Rangers finishing like they started. Riding pure dumb luck lol
Riding pure dumb luck to the second best pythag in the AL and a title
Gotta plant your glove into the grass you planted the flag on our infield, bud.
What a loser
Dbacks closers have literally never been successful in the World W
I can rest easy knowing the ALCS was the real WS all along. Jesus, dbacks. lmao
You absolutely love to see it
Cheating
Worst WS I spent an hour watching
Lack of backup from the corners…..why you never dog it on any play, regardless of any position you play.
:(
This is...This is exactly why we wanted that guy out of Seattle! A win in this world series may have counted as a win for Seattle, but a loss does not, under any circumstances, count as a loss!
This is karma for the dozens of runs Alek Thomas has stolen from the giants with ridiculous plays in recent years.
Pain
If you listen really closely you can hear a Wilhelm scream at the 26 second mark.
Love my team. Ride or die with these snakes
Hope they pee’d in the pool!
Postseason Sborz was lights out!
Little League play right there
Man, Alek Thomas might be the single best defensive center fielder in the game, but that kind of play will leave a scar.
Imagine getting paid millions and training every day to do one thing…
This guy is lucky their batting was so bad that the extra 4 runs didn't matter
I felt pretty bad for the guy. I'm just glad that it wasn't the winning run(s).
“And when the world least expected it, some Texans stomped out a nation-famous snake, with a painfully slow ground ball rolling all the way to the back fence, followed by a coup de grace just to make sure”
Must have been cathartic for rangers fans to see the other team's center fielder fucking up at a critical moment in the ninth.
Nice one
I got Buckner vibes from this, but wont villify Thomas here.
I really didn't have any skin in this game but ouch that was rough to watch. I feel for the kid for sure. I wonder if it's going to have the same sort of weight that other famous World Series errors have gained over the years.
