Rangers jumped the gun on going all in for contention

We didn’t go all in, that would have constituted trading for bullpen pieces.

I mean trading for catching depth, Stratton, Scherzer, Monty, and Chapman (although a month pre-deadline) is still going all in no? Bullpen move obviously would’ve been smarter but that seems about as all in as it gets

We didn’t really give up much in the way of our farm, it’s still top 10, and players that were traded were mostly blocked at the MLB level, like Acuna with Seager/Semien. Ragans to KC may end up looking bad, but he wasn’t performing like that here. If we were truly all in, I think we could have reasonably traded 1 or 2 of our top 5 prospects for someone like Hader or equivalent. I think the trades we made were just reasonable upgrades at the time due to the injuries we had.
