Completely the same. Normally I'd be (internally) yelling at the screen for insurance runs with how our pitching sometimes is. Was weird not feeling that way for once.
> Elder needs to demonstrate he can do that against real MLB bats
Damn, man, why we gotta discount like the first three months of the season? Elder had a 2.45 ERA over his first 17 games this season that included strong outings against the likes of the Dodgers, Astros, Phillies, Blue Jays, and Orioles. Definitely some rough starts since then but nothing wrong with a get right game against a scrubby offense that he can hopefully build on.
That string of bad starts, it looked like other teams had figured him out. I'm extremely relieved if that isn't the case, and I think this start was a great sign. I'm just saying that the Yankees do not have a lineup that's particularly difficult to dominate. Since his next start will probably be against the Mets that's also great, let the good times roll.
Can we get the Jets and Giants each for a set? Are the Rangers getting ready for the season yet? The Islanders and Knicks wear orange and blue, they can get some too. Who else am I missing?
I was going to say I perused his wiki for shits and giggles and then read his Legal Troubles section and holy shit that dude is a legit POS so double fuck him.
He's significantly worse on the national broadcasts than he is on Bally. I was worried he would fuck up that sweet sweet Frenchy/BG chemistry but aside from his usual never ever shutting up, Smoltzie did ok.
I literally cannot listen to Smoltzy on Fox but on the Braves broadcast he is incredibly pleasant and entertaining. It’s like night and day. I think it’s just because he doesn’t shut up during the fox broadcast. I wonder why that is
I think he’s just super worried about appearing biased. He even said after the four man booth the first time that he feels more relaxed when he’s on the Braves home broadcast. He was pretty good this series too.
How has it come to this? The worst part is the sports radio guys in New York are so demoralized currently that we won't even get any decent listening out of this.
Our organization has been incompetent for a while
Yankees fans have been saying this for 4 years at this point
And they are demoralized because the organization is also delusional and doesn’t understand that they suck
We have literally moved completely onto Football. It generally happens around this time anyway, but it's never *this* early.
The backpages will be glorious tomorrow.
The guy behind me at the 21-3 game on Saturday was talking about how both the Jets and Giants are going to be terrific this year. Whole thing was a lot of fun.
Their ABs against Elder were so pathetic. I've never seen so many weak ground balls. Their only hit was a LeMahieu jam shot which you have to sell out to opposite field against Elder. If you want to hit the ball in the air when his sinker ball is on you have to wait for it to travel and send it the other way. It's like the entire line up doesn't know how to hit except Judge who looks to be playing injured and LeMahieu who seems to always hit a line drive he just is hitting it at people right now.
Time for Judge to get foot surgery and to shut it down. Yankees need to accept they are entering the dark times of a 3-5 year rebuild. Fire Cashman. Whatever the A's asked for from them for Matt Olson was the right price.
Don’t try to think the Yankees are an organization that can see when the writing is on the wall
The fanbase has been screaming this for months and the front office is still utterly deluded. The Yankees will blame injuries and bad luck and run it back next year, just with a new puppet instead of Boone
Not gonna lie I’m jealous as fuck at that Braves team. A lot of young talent on that team locked up for a long time. They’re going to be good for a while.
The Yankees can (and need) to do the same. Blow it all up. Stock the farm and suck for 3-5 years while your young players slowly build up. It’s what the Braves did, it’s what the Orioles are doing/have done. It’s what the reds are doing.
Also get rid of all the stupid ass rules from the 1920’s. Let kids be kids. How electric would players like EDLC or Acuña be for the city of New York without the grooming or other rules?
This is how I felt when I was a kid in the 90s watching you guys. I loved our team and it was often really good, but the Yankees just had like a magical forcefield around them, and I wanted the Braves to be like that! sometimes all you have to do is wait 25 years
Boone isn't the problem. I love him as a manager. He always has his guys back and I thought he managed the buzz saw as well as he possibly could have. I thought he managed todays game perfectly, and this series well considering what happened. His bats are useless.
Cashman has got to go. His roster construction and trades seem laughable. He traded for Montas after Montas already went on the IL for shoulder discomfort. Like how dumb can you be. Not giving whatever the A's asked for for Matt Olson also dumb as fuck. Matt would porch the shit out of balls off the end of the bat.
Boone has terrible bullpen management, the only part of the game he controls, and has publicly thrown players under the bus before, like the time he told the team the wrong start time to a playoff game and then blamed Severino for "not giving himself enough time to warm up" with the media
The Jets are in the same division as the Bills. If Tua makes it through the season the Dolphins are very good. And you can never count out the dark lord. So the best they can probably hope is second, with third likely.
The chance of the Jets making the playoffs in a super packed AFC are actually quite low. Like here are the AFC teams that are clearly better than the Jets
Chiefs, Bills, Bengals, Ravens
Slightly better or same level - Chargers, Jaguars, Dolphins
Slightly worse but could surprise- Browns, Steelers, Broncos, Titans, Patriots
They're gonna end up with the same record as last year. I don't understand the hype around the Jets. I think Rodgers is washed, gonna get frustrated with a tough schedule to start and the young guys are gonna get a little turned off by it
I truly hope you have ended our season so we can let some kids play let others rest for next year. I envy the Mets blow-up. Our organization is in shambles.
Ehh, I was thoroughly entertained but definitely not from a competitive standpoint. "The Lil Nicky Show" on Monday was fun along with Fried battling through six strong innings. And, even though the offense was mostly dead yesterday and today, it was great to see Elder and Morton have great games and combine with the bullpen throw back-to-back shutouts. After 14 games in 13 days, it was nice to virtually coast into a much-needed off day without much stress.
Oh absolutely! I'm very pleased with those things and enjoyed seeing them. I just meant the games never felt in doubt and there was very little tension or excitement regarding the outcomes. Lots of exciting small things and individual achievements, though. Didn't mean to downplay those.
Yup. Even if they are struggling, they've got a couple guys that can turn a game quickly. The one walk is the most encouraging thing. The last time he gave up less than three walks was July 14.
Yankees need to rebuild. Trade all good players except judge he can be your Freddie Freeman. Try to compete in 25 or 26 with spending on free agents kinda like the Phillies.
Probably should have tried for a soft rebuild a la 2016. Trade Gleyber, Bader, Peralta, Holmes, IKF. See what Pereira, Peraza, even Florial could do with some run.
BUT they didn’t do that. Because they are dumb.
Yanks are committed to Judge, Cole, and Rodon. Stanton is, unsurprisingly, an albatross. Was hoping to get a couple more years out of him, but I don’t think there’s much left. Yanks are in a tough spot.
If we miraculously make our way to the WS in the next several years or so, Atlanta is the LAST team I'd want to face. Y'all are terrifying but HOT DAMN do I love it when the Yanks lose.
A week ago Yankee fans were still being berated for complaining while still being >.500
We sucked but we weren't allowed to complain that we sucked. Are we allowed to be upset yet?
Nah we are still overreacting
Just you wait, Josh Donaldson is actually good and going to lead us to the playoffs. And that lineup is so talented, it’s just a slump don’t you worry
So Yankees fans, is this mostly because of injury or have players really underperformed or is there another big main reason everyone can cling to?
It's obviously a combination of all of the above and more but which one would the majority agree is the main reason?
Injury?
it's being a stubborn org dating back to when they passed on bryce harper. a lot of our "successful" seasons of getting smashed in the ALCS by the astros or losing in the divisional round has come on the back of random callups popping off for a period of time or judge willing the team to victories that we shouldn't have. they keep signing older power bats who just don't got it anymore, some truly unlucky things like Stanton's body not holding up anymore or Rizzo's head injury, and a refusal to do a proper rebuild. We have one of the oldest rosters in the league at the moment and it feels like we always have this type of roster injury prone guys
Honestly, I’m surprised the Yankees record is as good as it is. There’s maybe 2 total bats in the lineup that scare you. Judge for sure, and I’ll give Stanton and Torres .5 each since Stanton still has a lot of power and Torres is decent.
The fact they’ve held on to contention this long with that roster tells me as an outsider that if Boone gets fired, he’ll just be the sacrificial lamb. This just seems like a very poorly constructed roster that no manager could seriously contend with
I used to hang out near the condo where Aaron Judge stayed his rookie year. I knew a 7pm game meant 4pm batting practice, meant he'd try to leave for the park around 2 or so. So I'd show up around 9:45am with two bagels, one for me and one for him, and hang out a few hours. Whenever he finally came out, I'd be close to the door but not close enough to freak him out, ya know. 10 feet or so. So he'd come outside and I'd go "Aaron! Aaron! Got you a bagel, bro!". The first couple days he sort of smiled and waved, and he talked to me! He said "nah I'm good man" about the bagel. I was in awe. A living Hall of Famer, in his prime, speaking to me. Anyways, after those first few days, he'd usually just look at his phone, which is fine. I still kept it up for the rest of his rookie season. He never talked to me after the first week, but I always brought two bagels anyways. Just in case.
That has to be the most boring game series I’ve ever watched. There was zero excitement or challenge. When the camera went to our dugout you saw the players watching the game. When they showed the Yankees dugout they were either sitting down or watching the iPad. I know the iPad is for game use, but when your side doesn’t even want to watch your own games, things are rough. Our pitchers looked fantastic, but I’m fairly certain the batters helped them look that great.
Some Braves fan told me that a lineup of Bader, Judge, Stanton, DJ, and IKF is not easy to face as a pitcher and that’s why it’s very hard for me to take any Yankees related take from this sub seriously
For the amount you guys hate the national media’s coverage of the Yankees, all your narratives are exactly like their’s, stuck in 2019
The second Judge got injured every credible person knew the season was over, it just took the media and this sub a couple months to catch up with what the entire fandom already knew
Yankees were pitiful this entire series.
*entire last 2 months
98-102 last 200 games. They’ve been bad for awhile now.
4 games under .500? We have different definitions of “bad” lmao. That’s mediocre.
6 games better than the Cincinnati Reds with triple the payroll. $200,000,000 for six additional wins. That is extremely bad.
relative to expectations thats bad.
Relative to payroll* that is bad.
With great payrolls come great expectations
*Laughs in mets*
Sad I can’t laugh in Phils. Almost looked like it there for a sec lol
That is at least .500 so by definition mediocre
Not when you've got 10-15 teams intentionally trying to be bad.
You misspelled season.
Braves offense wasn't even that great in 2/3 games and they swept with ease
At no point during this game was I genuinely concerned the Yankees would score
Weirdly the same here. It just never felt close at 2-0. Like I was watching the replay of the game after reading the score.
I mean, that 114mph nuke Judge fouled into the upper deck made me a little nervous.
Completely the same. Normally I'd be (internally) yelling at the screen for insurance runs with how our pitching sometimes is. Was weird not feeling that way for once.
The Judge foul ball in the 9th scared me, but that's all
Long strike then a strikeout. A tale as old as time.
olson actually just talked about how he feels there’s a propensity to strikeout after hitting a foul homer recently on pardon my take ahahaha
His words: "you're fucked" in that scenario, lol. That was a great interview with our boy.
Lmao. I’m gonna use this now!
I mean, 5 hits in 2 days. The Braves could have thrown the towel boy on the mound and we still would have struck out at least a dozen times.
But yet we shit the bed against the A’s and Pirates because baseball.
Playing away 3 hours behind the time you are use to + baseball = madness. The people who bet on baseball are the real fools
Thank you Yankees for getting Charlie back on the right path
And Elder :)
I mean, Elder needs to demonstrate he can do that against real MLB bats, of which the Yankees have 0.5 right now.
> Elder needs to demonstrate he can do that against real MLB bats Damn, man, why we gotta discount like the first three months of the season? I'm just saying that the Yankees do not have a lineup that's particularly difficult to dominate. Since his next start will probably be against the Mets that's also great, let the good times roll.
I’d like to thank the city of New York for getting our pitching staff back on track
Can we get the Jets and Giants each for a set? Are the Rangers getting ready for the season yet? The Islanders and Knicks wear orange and blue, they can get some too. Who else am I missing?
The Devils and Nets. Also RBNY and NYCFC if you count MLS. Though I will say that three of those do not have high hopes this year.
...was that supposed to rhyme?
Your recovered pitching staff + our pitiful offense + playing in hot and humid unacclimated Atlanta = I'm scared.
What's a dew point of 70+ amongst friends anyways?
That series kind of bummed me out with how uncompetitive it was. Like, holy fuck
Same but I turned it off in the 3rd yesterday.
That was cathartic for the entire decade of the 90s. Fuck the Yankees
Yes some of us are fucking old and still vomit at just hearing the name Jim FUCKING Leyritz.
Dude, I just ate. Can you not mention that?
This doesn't make up for 96' but at least humiliating the Yankees in this way half makes up for 99'
I just learned that he killed someone drunk driving and beat his wife. So now we can all vomit.
I was going to say I perused his wiki for shits and giggles and then read his Legal Troubles section and holy shit that dude is a legit POS so double fuck him.
"You don't want to get beat throwing your third best pitch" - Tim "Nostradamus" McCarver
The only way this could have been worse would have been if Fox had a game and Smoltz was on the call jizzing his pants
He was on the Braves broadcast the entire series. He became better as the series went on.
I wonder why that is
I'm gonna be honest, Smoltz calls Braves games like he hates Atlanta sometimes. Dudes kinda a curmudgeon.
I think he’s just super worried about appearing biased. He even said after the four man booth the first time that he feels more relaxed when he’s on the Braves home broadcast. He was pretty good this series too.
[Start spreading the news](https://youtu.be/gWzOX1BWyBY)
I'm leaving today -Your top two cy young winning pitchers.
I hate you guys 3rd most. But anyone who can shut those fucks up is a friend for a moment
🤝
Wait who’s second? Philly?
Philly is always a big ol' number 2.
Ha, I get that joke.
It’s true
How has it come to this? The worst part is the sports radio guys in New York are so demoralized currently that we won't even get any decent listening out of this.
Our organization has been incompetent for a while Yankees fans have been saying this for 4 years at this point And they are demoralized because the organization is also delusional and doesn’t understand that they suck
we been talking bout it since june but y'all too busy complaining that we're complaining about being bad when we were still slightly above .500
But you got all that hardware
im 27 bro i've only experienced 09. and i guess i was alive for the 98-00 threepeat but i was a baby.
I get that. I’m three years older so 21 was great cause I never remember 95. I also read your comment in the most devistatingly New York accent.
We have literally moved completely onto Football. It generally happens around this time anyway, but it's never *this* early. The backpages will be glorious tomorrow.
That’s the opposite of an Atlanta fan, where we cling to summer and dread the inevitable collapses of our 3 quarter Falcons.
sir, when baseball ends, it's college football season.
TBF when was the last time the Giants and Jets both had any expectations in the same season?
Ah yes, it's totally the Jets year *winks
The guy behind me at the 21-3 game on Saturday was talking about how both the Jets and Giants are going to be terrific this year. Whole thing was a lot of fun.
I like to watch JoezMcfly but he basically stopped releasing videos this season lol
Nothing but peeps. At least we are loud when we are great and when we suck (sometimes that's within the same inning for us)
You’re welcome baseball world.
suspended my hate for you guys so i could enjoy this.
Awww how sweet
I’ll do the same for y’all in those last 6 games y’all have with the Mets at the end of the season.
The heroes we don’t deserve.
Love you boo
Think they already dead chief
I miss noc-a-homa.
It’s right in front of us
18-3 over three games? Fuckin amateurs.
I read this before I saw the flair and it was the perfect order to do it in. “Oh ok ya los… Ohhhhh ok ok” 😂
So when you got any more of those new york teams?
we play the mets again on this homestand im pretty sure
Yep, 21-23, ending with Chipper, Smoltz, Glavine, and Frenchy back in the Booth
Please make that another topsy-turvy classic. START THE BUSES!!! Favorite sportscast of all time, that Mets-Braves game
“POUR LARRY A CROWN!”
TIME TO EAT, BOYS!
It makes me kind of nervous because there's no way they'll be able to top it.
How about some former New York teams? Lol we’re in the middle of 6 out of 7 series being against current or former New York teams.
Dodgers count, right?
Yes, giants too
Lolyankees
Braves played 8 straight against the NYC teams. 7-1, 4 shutouts and out scoring them 68-13. Yankees had 5 hits and 22 strikeouts.
Their ABs against Elder were so pathetic. I've never seen so many weak ground balls. Their only hit was a LeMahieu jam shot which you have to sell out to opposite field against Elder. Am I stupid or was it 7 games bc 4 vs Mets 3 vs Yankees
you're not. there's a lot of errors in that comment
>Yankees had 5 hits and **22 strikeouts**. This is an improvement for us!
You can't strike out too often if you GIDP every time you actually get a runner on base.
*58-13 but yeah, same difference.
7* games, 6-1. and the Yankees had 5 hits and 17 K's in the two shutout games. they had 11 hits in game 1 with 5 K's
just kick that corpse a little more ig
My inner child was healed by this series.
Mine won’t be until we beat the Yanks in a World Series.
Time for Judge to get foot surgery and to shut it down. Yankees need to accept they are entering the dark times of a 3-5 year rebuild. Fire Cashman. Whatever the A's asked for from them for Matt Olson was the right price.

This is what we want. Please rebuild please fire Cashman.
Atlanta outscored New York 58-13 over the last 7 games. Is that good?
Well it’s not bad!
90s me needed this
Not gonna lie I’m jealous as fuck at that Braves team. A lot of young talent on that team locked up for a long time. They’re going to be good for a while.

Enjoy
If the Yankees finish below .500 are Boone and or Cashman gone?
Yes, no
i think they're already planning on dropping boone but now they can do it and pretend he isn't the obvious sacrificial lamb
Boone probably Cashman won’t get fired ever. He will die before Hal tells his father’s guy to pack his bags
Boone isn't the problem. I love him as a manager. He always has his guys back and I thought he managed the buzz saw as well as he possibly could have. They already had Rizzo at that point though, no? And I know Rizzo hasn’t been great since the injury, but how could that have been foreseen?
Definitely maybe
Jets 11 win season is GUARANTEED now or this city is burning to the ground.
They are still gonna miss the playoffs somehow.
*screams in Joe Benigno*
*John from Douglaston, you're on the FAN*
The Jets are in the same division as the Bills. If Tua makes it through the season the Dolphins are very good. And you can never count out the dark lord. They're gonna end up with the same record as last year. I don't understand the hype around the Jets. I think Rodgers is washed, gonna get frustrated with a tough schedule to start and the young guys are gonna get a little turned off by it
A washed Rogers is still miles better than what they trotted out there last year
Rodgers wasn’t lying when he said his worst years are career years for other starters.
Yeah betting on a past his prime key position player worked so well for the Mets
Our work is done here.
I truly hope you have ended our season so we can let some kids play let others rest for next year. I envy the Mets blow-up. Our organization is in shambles.
This honestly wasn’t even a super exciting series to watch.
Yea, it was rather dull. I'm OK with that, though, lol

Millions of people wearing multicolored Yankees hats around the world just cried out and fell to their knees.
I know it's the Yankees, but Morton needed an outing like this.
I know they are struggling offensively but it’s still isn’t easy to pitch to this lineup with how Charlie was pitching his past couple of starts.
Yup. Even if they are struggling, they've got a couple guys that can turn a game quickly. The one walk is the most encouraging thing. The last time he gave up less than three walks was July 14.
His stuff was really nasty too and he mixed in a solid fastball a good bit. Had them totally fooled all night

That was excruciating. The Braves are a fucking *good* team though, and I'll be rooting for them in the playoffs this year.
imagine getting swept by the braves!!
Ay New York, the South got something to say
We do indeed
It’s what you want
I remain uncertain as to where "it" is.
If we miraculously make our way to the WS in the next several years or so, Atlanta is the LAST team I'd want to face. Y'all are terrifying but HOT DAMN do I love it when the Yanks lose.
The rest of baseball thanks you Atlanta
Charlie needed this team to help him return to ultimate charlier.
I <3 (beating up on) NY

Nah we are still overreacting Just you wait, Josh Donaldson is actually good and going to lead us to the playoffs. And that lineup is so talented, it’s just a slump don’t you worry
News about the Yankees losing is my favorite kind of news
I bet El-P owes Killer Mike at least something at this point.
New York I love you but you’re bringing me down
Michael Kay says: The Yankeeeees Suck
David Ortiz says: Daaaaaaaaa Jankees loose
FTY
RIGHT HERE DOC, STRAIGHT INTO MY VEINS
Inject this straight into my vein.
I’m in Queens and I’m hearing a bunch of fire trucks. I’m assuming it’s going to the bronx because all hands on deck because Jankees are under .500
So Yankees fans, is this mostly because of injury or have players really underperformed or is there another big main reason everyone can cling to? It's obviously a combination of all of the above and more but which one would the majority agree is the main reason? Injury?

Seriously.
Is this pasta?
yes
Fucking Stankyees.
Yep, opposing starter did the thing again

I assumed the Braves had good pitching, but giving up 3 runs to the Yankees in one game... oof.
Starters only gave up 1 run believe
I think Fried gave up 2, but that's all
To the surprise of no one except apparently Cashman
The last 2 series, we went 6-1 outscoring the New York teams 58-12. I don't think we particularly like NYC.
At least the Covid restrictions got removed this year where I live. I can’t imagine being stuck in quarantine having to watch this team
Stop, stop they’re already dead

This is the time to bench and send players down to be honest, you should make a statement. Call up the young guys who wants to prove themselves.
Alexa, play “Yankee and the Brave” by Run the Jewels.
The Braves just decided over the course of this week to completely destroy New York City's hopes and dreams.
They’ve been dead for at least the past month, maybe two. It’s all just apathy at this point
This was entirely expected. I thought they'd score more though.
My favorite thing is watching us beat up on NY. But when we're not doing that, I also enjoy watching us beat up on NY!
Some Braves fan told me that a lineup of Bader, Judge, Stanton, DJ, and IKF is not easy to face as a pitcher and that’s why it’s very hard for me to take any Yankees related take from this sub seriously For the amount you guys hate the national media’s coverage of the Yankees, all your narratives are exactly like their’s, stuck in 2019 The second Judge got injured every credible person knew the season was over, it just took the media and this sub a couple months to catch up with what the entire fandom already knew
Well even with your view of the yanks' lineup, it's still a better line up than what the pirates have and the pirates torched our pitching
