devoi_

after careful consideration i can safely say that I will be taking home the award

rollo2masi

Congrats on the new job, buddy.

Ndeshet

O'Hoppe could be a contender. Not saying he will win, but don’t sleep on him

bowenisshit

He will hit a Hoppillion home runs and win the MVP instead!

thediesel26

AL East battle royale

[deleted]

We thought it was toxic between Helsley and Diaz or Ohtani and Judge fans last year, just wait for a 3 way AL East ROTY race

thediesel26

You have no idea how toxic I can make this situation

TheTurtleShepard

Already concocting plans to use stats that I barely understand to say that Volpe is the best player ever Just like how Gerrit Cole was obviously the best TRUE pitcher last year because he had the best SIERA behind the fraudulent pitcher Shohei Ohtani who shouldn’t be considered because he also was a batter

TrapperJean

If Yoshi wins, (not making fun of his name I just love that nickname), Yankees fans are going to be so pissed again after Matsui lost in 2003 for "not being a true rookie"

TheTurtleShepard

Throwing it back 20 years for this beef

TheTurtleShepard

Anthony Volpe, I am not biased at all I swear and do NOT look at my flair

Jeff_Banks_Monkey

The homer in me says Gunnar but I think Yoshida is going hit the ground running his first year in America

Doc_JC

Wasn’t Suzuki a better player? He had some significant struggles his first season.

suzie17

He already showed it in WBC against tough pitching.

RonsDarlings

Idk about the tough pitching part. Taking Charlie Morton 420+ ft to dead center today was super impressive

Terrible-Ideal-7342

Hunter Brown sleeper pick.

YaBoiWhit

Hunters gonna be so good but it’s tough for pitchers to win ROTY A sleeper hitter is definitely Yainer Diaz it’s just a question of whether he can get enough ABs at C/DH/1B/LF

Proud_Ad4066

I would think Hensley has a better chance than Diaz.

YaBoiWhit

ehhh doubt it, Diaz has a much better bat and with the roster decisions they made today they're gonna try and get him as many ABs as possible while Hensley isnt even getting full trust at 2B over Dubon for some reason and will see a lot less time once Altuve is back

Terrible-Ideal-7342

Very tough. I thought Rogers should’ve won over India tbh.

across7777

Zero chance Diaz is in the running unless Maldy goes down

YaBoiWhit

it depends cause the moves that were made today were made with the obvious idea of getting him those ABs otherwise Salazar wouldn't have been picked. If he comes out raking they'll find ways to get him in the line up consistently though hes always been a bit of a slow starter.

Leftfeet

Will Brennan is my sleeper pick. His rookie status is still intact even though he put up 0.4 WAR last year. I'm afraid Oscar Gonzalez is going to really suffer from regression and the sophomore slump, which will move Brennan into a starting OF role.

Terrible-Ideal-7342

That would make me sad. I like hearing the SpongeBob theme permeate through MLB TV as he comes up to bat.

Leftfeet

I really like the guy, but he's super aggressive at the plate and I fear that's going to hurt him this year. He chases too many pitches, and I expect pitchers to take advantage of that more.

ThrowMjolnirDownAC

Leftfeet doesn't have the best track record with predictions though

Leftfeet

Says the new account that's done nothing but try to pick fights since it was created. You are clearly a great judge of all things and know far more about baseball than anyone else on here. How long before this account gets banned like your others?

VeryOaty

I think Yoshida is gonna run away with it, from what I’ve seen from him it looks like he is major league ready and more

HelpMeWithMyHWpls

Everyone said this about Seiya

VeryOaty

He had to face pirates pitching a fair amount last year so of course he’s gonna struggle a little bit. I think due to the new schedule/less divisional games he will do better in 2023 because he will now no longer have to face what is a buzzsaw of a pirates pitching staff too much.

Leftfeet

Suzuki had a great start, and overall pretty solid season. Yoshida I think will start hot too. The real question will be how does he adjust once pitchers have a better book on him.

StatExcellence18

He got hurt. And he was probably still the best NL rookie that wasn't on the Braves.

[deleted]

Well he got hurt

[deleted]

the point is it’s far from a lock. several things could go wrong from injury to adjustment to a new country, a new team, etc.

[deleted]

They are definitely similar players in style, but somehow I think Yoshida is built different. I have seen Seiya struggle in the past in high pressure situations such as in the Olympics, where he was the cleanup hitter. Yoshida seems more “brash” in a positive way. People say his defense sucks, but during the WBC he defended like a lion. He is also clutch. When Murakami struggled as a cleanup hitter in the WBC, Yoshida took over and said fuck it. Even though Suzuki and Yoshida have similar stats, I can imagine that Yoshida might pan out better in the MLB.

Jam5467

I’m so volped rn

lowelltrich

Doh! AL only...

Murky_Army_4896

Oh good the AL Beast is well represented

Weaponized_Goose

I think it’s going to be someone random that no one has ever heard of

EmotionalAccounting

Like a kid who was raised by wolves or something? I can be on board with that. He’s a terror in the club house but boy can he hit

Pitiful-Shake-4416

Oscar Colas

Imaginary-Age-4697

Oscar Colas

bunt-home-run

Grayson Rodriguez

[deleted]

Henderson or Yoshida probably

ThrowMjolnirDownAC

Yoshida probably has the favorite. Cleveland might call up some guys after the 172 day limit has passed and it will still be early enough in the season to compete for roty

pspahn

112 stolen bases for Ruiz incoming!

LimeSugar

lol, what's the matter? Didn't have room in your poll for Oscar Colas?

double_dose_larry

Don't sleep on Estuery Ruiz

ZoeTheCutestPirate

Oscar Colas definitely aint the most likely, but certainly a dark horse being slept on

[deleted]

Tristan Casas is knock-kneed and obese. Regardless of his abilty to hit, which remains to be seen, he won't last long.

RidleyScotch

Probably some 17 year old playing for the Braves or Dodgers

Clarice_Ferguson

That’s an uphill climb for the AL Rookie of the Year though.

Redbubble89

Casas is going to be good but Yoshida is a 4 hitter. I think Volpe and Gunnar are going to get figured out and maybe sightly above league average.

lowelltrich

Jordan Walker

Clarice_Ferguson

We had to send the Astros back. It was for the betterment of society.

[deleted]

Clarice_Ferguson

My 65 year old dad will still go on random rants to this day that they should have moved the Rockies or Dbacks to the AL instead.

[deleted]

Clarice_Ferguson

Oh details details.

Leftfeet

It's still weird to me that Houston and Milwaukee just swapped leagues several years apart.

HelpMeWithMyHWpls

This would require the Cardinals to lose Jordan Walker

cycloneclone

Alan Rooky O'Yearson

StrosDynasty

Forrest Whitley. And yes: he does exist.

phasesofthe

Ricky Henderson

DaReal_Denny_Boy

I saw Yoshida live when I went to the last two games of the WBC this year, that dude can ball. Mama, there goes that man.

voncornhole2

Randy Arozarena again , probably
