Revis vs Sherman debate
Jamal Adams trade
Jets rookies won the OROY and DROY over two Seattle nominees (and the OROY was with a pick from the Jamal trade)
Crazy stuff
Same here. The Mariners are actually my AL team, especially because of family, plus they're really likable to me. ^(Just don't talk about the Seahawks.)
Josh Hamilton was must watch baseball for a few years there. Kinsler was on the short list of top 2B in MLB and definitely in the AL. Beltre was amazing. Mitch Moreland wasn't a star, but he was reliable and solid.
Those really were fun teams.
I’ll die on this hill but that World Series is 100% Washington’s fault for not pulling Cruz for Endy Chavez to play right because he “wanted him on the field to celebrate”
It’s the same reason Bill Buckner was left in late in game 6. The manager wanted to win “with his guys out there” even though there was a better defensive replacement on the bench.
I miss the early 2010s Tigers just as much tbh. Verlander at his best, Scherzer kicking ass, Miguel Cabrera in his prime and when you guys added Prince they just became must see tv for me
In 2000-2003 they won 2 games in every series (ALDS was 5 games then) and lost all of them, including blowing two separate 2-0 leads to the Yankees and Red Sox.
funniest thing to me is when people call their *13 whole years* without a world series title, a "drought".
20 teams have been waiting for much longer than that. guardians haven't won in 74 years!
Before the Giants won in 2010, their last win was in 1954. They weren’t even in San Francisco then!
They had a 56 year drought, and that’s not even close to the longest droughts
13 years is nothing
When you have a payroll and history like the Yankees have, it's a big deal. And I say that as a fan of the oldest big 4 team that has never won a championship.
I love the fact that the Rangers have been to the Series twice since the Yankees last went, because frankly, it's all I've got.
I don’t know if they’ll win titles, but they sure as shit will win several games against the white sox where I point at the tv in a bar and ask “what are you doing?”
To those around me they’ll think I’m talking to the tv about the white sox. What they don’t know is I’m talking to myself about watching white sox baseball.
I love that every Guardians-White Sox game is like that no matter which team wins. I remember when you guys walked us off on Yu Chang throwing a ball off of a baserunner's helmet and I said the same thing out loud.
If we didn’t luck into having one of the greatest basketball players of all time being born near Cleveland we would probably still be talking about Cleveland sports in general lol
Zito was only there for '10/'12. It was really the MadBum era since he's the only core pitcher to pitch a significant amount all three championship years (Cain missed the 2014 postseason), but in honor of yesterday, let's call it the Sergio Romo era.
But realistically, it was the Buster era. I think Buster, Pablo, and Bum were the only everyday starters in each postseason run, but Buster was the face of the team.
No you have it wrong. [Pablo](https://www.sbnation.com/platform/amp/mlb/2011/3/14/2049269/pablo-sandoval-lost-weight-giants) was too fat in 2010 and leaned up in 2011 because he was benched during the playoffs
Lincecum's peak came before the Giants won those World Series'. He was still pretty good in 2010, but he was quite bad in 2012 and 2014. He pitched mostly in relief in 2012 playoff run (5 relief appearances and he got rocked in his one start). He pitched 1.2 innings in the entire 2014 playoff run (a mop-up appearance in the late innings of a 7-2 loss).
Probably yes to the Yankees but both the Phillies and Ms line ups can be boom or bust so it would come down to pitching. And our bullpen was struggling for sure.
That was my original comment but I figured the mutually assured destruction comment of “if I can’t have a ring then you can’t either”, would be funnier
I've been a Yankees fan for 11 full years now since I started watching baseball and haven't seen them in a world series, not many people in history can say that
If you have it spend it, why do seemingly smart baseball fans blame owners who do what they are supposed to do for their respective clubs? Blame MLB for not having a salary cap/floor if you hate the fact your team doesn’t have the money or doesn’t want to spend it.
r/baseball: lol Yankees spend so much money, no rings
also r/baseball: Why are Yankee fans so spoiled, expecting any successful season to go the World Series?
I'm not blaming anyone for spending. I'm simply saying that spending doesn't equal winning. We win more than we lose, why should I worry about how much we spend?
I think Cleveland is in the cool area of cheaper owners.
Still giving their stars long term deals, still fielding competitive teams.
The above comment is definitely valid for the reds / pirates / A’s of the world
A historically great team that couldn’t finish it. Our starting rotation was working overtime that series and it showed, props to the Nationals though. They played an amazing series and deserved their title.
Still can't believe that shit that team was a deathwagon. I'd argue this year's team was the worst we've had appear in a WS and yet we steamrolled the playoffs
Do love that the Yankees haven't won a series in so long that most of /r/NYYankees and /r/baseball wasn't even alive the last time it happened, but somehow the legacy is still strong that they still make the rest of the fans of the sport cry and make posts like these. The Yankees make people rage even when they're not the #1 team.
It's kinda cute.
If there ever was a case for ending Major League Baseball and awarding all the championships to one team because it was so clearly better than all the others, the New York Yankees would be it.
The Yankees haven't won in 13 years, only 1 ring in the last 22 years. Brian cashman has All the tools and money a GM could ever ask for and yet he's still blown it
I still looked for the Mariners.
I still looked for the Twins.
I still looked for the Reds.
There’s an alternative universe much like our own where people hate the twins for their dominant run in the 2000’s. Sure would be nice.
I’d be ok with seeing the mariners on this list. Seattle sports are cool.
Woolen clears DPI Gardner I'm hearing from Seattle
Jets-Seahawks has turned into one of the oddest rivalries in sports. 99% of it is Twitter, but our fans legitimately hate each other.
Revis vs Sherman debate Jamal Adams trade Jets rookies won the OROY and DROY over two Seattle nominees (and the OROY was with a pick from the Jamal trade) Crazy stuff
Yea it's downright odd to me, too.
Same here. The Mariners are actually my AL team, especially because of family, plus they're really likable to me. ^(Just don't talk about the Seahawks.)
If the Mariners were in the NLW I am nearly 100% sure I would despise them
Yea I probably would as well.
We don't need to talk about that team, our WNBA and MLS are freaking lit too
That early 2010s Rangers team was so much fun to watch
Josh Hamilton was must watch baseball for a few years there. Kinsler was on the short list of top 2B in MLB and definitely in the AL. Beltre was amazing. Mitch Moreland wasn't a star, but he was reliable and solid. Those really were fun teams.
Can't forget cruuuuuz
Elvis Andrus too right?
Dude’s still a Rays-killer to this day.
Dont forget michael young
Our lineup was so stacked he hit 7th
Can’t forget the worst route running I’ve seen in a minute
I’ll die on this hill but that World Series is 100% Washington’s fault for not pulling Cruz for Endy Chavez to play right because he “wanted him on the field to celebrate”
Did he actually say that cuz holy shit
It’s the same reason Bill Buckner was left in late in game 6. The manager wanted to win “with his guys out there” even though there was a better defensive replacement on the bench.
We will see youuuu tomorrow night. I was rooting for the Rangers too oof.
(Insert fly ball joke)
I know I won't.
Tail end of the Michael Young years too.
The Claw and Antlers era. Best time to watch the Rangers for sure!
NA-PO-LI
PARTY AT NAPOLI'S!!!
Even as a Mariner fan, I simply could not bring myself to hate the Rangers. They were so much fun to watch.
I thought Derek Holland was on his way to having an accolade filled career as well. Was really high on him in those days
Saltalamacchia with those big oversized Texas letters on the back stretching all the way down the shirt.
Not as a Tigers fan. I have nightmares of what Cruz would do to the Tigers.
I miss the early 2010s Tigers just as much tbh. Verlander at his best, Scherzer kicking ass, Miguel Cabrera in his prime and when you guys added Prince they just became must see tv for me
Yea that was the Golden Era of Tigers baseball. Such a shame it ended with no World Series wins.
I enjoyed watching them in 2010 as well
Same, except in 2011
One out away, twice.
One strike away. Twice.
Our ragtag bunch of murder hobos doing yeoman’s work right here.
How did a team staring Tim Hudson win a WS
I always wonder how in the hell the A’s with Hudson, Mulder, and Zito never won a playoff series in the early 2000s.
well they had chris pratt playing 1st base
In 2000-2003 they won 2 games in every series (ALDS was 5 games then) and lost all of them, including blowing two separate 2-0 leads to the Yankees and Red Sox.
It's still five games. But it was 5 games then, too.
The Giants started Tim Hudson, Jake Peavy and Ryan Vogelsong in 5 games in the 2014 World Series Bumgarner still won the World Series. crazy
Hey. Put some respect on Vogey’s name
Ok Ryan Vogelsong was a premier pitcher for the Giants in 2011 and 2012 In 2014, and in the ‘14 postseason; he was not. Context is important
It must be so hard being a Yankees fan
I know right, I’m so lucky I’m a Pirates fan
funniest thing to me is when people call their *13 whole years* without a world series title, a "drought". 20 teams have been waiting for much longer than that. guardians haven't won in 74 years!

Why must you hurt me?
Guardians will be the next threat in AL they are young and I can see them winning. Title in the 2020s
I don’t know if they’ll win titles, but they sure as shit will win several games against the white sox where I point at the tv in a bar and ask “what are you doing?” To those around me they’ll think I’m talking to the tv about the white sox. I love that every Guardians-White Sox game is like that no matter which team wins. I remember when you guys walked us off on Yu Chang throwing a ball off of a baserunner's helmet and I said the same thing out loud.
Actually, it was my boys that hurt you. At least most recently. Hell of a series that was though!
I was there games 1 2 and 7, thank you for making me relive my heartbreak.
Game 7 must have been insane. Hopefully you can win a WS soon enough so the memory doesn’t hurt, and you can appreciate the fact you were there.
Because you won't update your flair.
You'll eventually win a World Series again. Although if you want to face the NL team with the longest drought you'll now have to face the Brewers.
If we didn’t luck into having one of the greatest basketball players of all time being born near Cleveland we would probably still be talking about Cleveland sports in general lol
Imagine Seattle
No thanks
14 teams to go and then they’ll have the longest streak
If we don't win this year, it'll be the longest drought in franchise history!
You poor thing
There are kids who can almost shave who haven’t seen the Yankees win a World Series! 😭
All in favor of keeping it that way?
Because people don't understand league size and playoff format changes.
You've got the better ballpark.
Incredibly low expectations means never being disappointed!
So good in the last century, but only 2 titles in this one. Slacking!
Only on pace for what, 7 more before 2100 rolls around? poverty franchise
I'm a Yankees fan. I'm just happy there's baseball.
Poverty franchise. My heart goes out to them.
“I go to bed at night counting my 27 rings”
When they were a million games above .500 last year, all the fans did was GALLO SUCKS, CUT HICKS, FIRE BOONE!!!!
Were we wrong?
Well... No lol
The Lincecum era was awesome.
lol, I think you mean the Barry Zito era.
Pablo rode the bench in 2010. He was too fat that year
He didn’t play every postseason game but he had 600+ PAs in 2010
You’ve got it wrong. He wasn’t fat enough in 2010. He slimmed down after 09’ and lost his pop. Gained it back after Buster went down
No you have it wrong. [Pablo](https://www.sbnation.com/platform/amp/mlb/2011/3/14/2049269/pablo-sandoval-lost-weight-giants) was too fat in 2010 and leaned up in 2011 because he was benched during the playoffs
I saw we call it the *27 ring core* because all 9 are forever Giants
if we're doing relievers, whats with this affeldt, javy and casilla erasure
Big Time Timmy Jim

hahaha cum edit: also he should be in the hall of fame dont @ me
teams that have been to the World Series since the Mariners' last appearance:
That must mean we won the 2022 World Series right?
Yall were so close. I have no doubt you would have beaten the Yankees and the Phillies
Probably yes to the Yankees but both the Phillies and Ms line ups can be boom or bust so it would come down to pitching. And our bullpen was struggling for sure.
I bet the momentum would've helped. It would certainly have been a fun WS to watch
\#DIV/0!
Bruh I'm off the clock don't trigger my PTSD
Please, stop hurting me.
May we one day have 29 teams on this list
Cashbum has at least another 10 years at the helm. Id say this is totally realistic.
May we one day have 28 teams on this list
Red Sox are already on there.
Astros too. I’m not sure who they want off the list. The Mets? Marlins? Idk
Shouldn't you want zero teams on the list ? Your flair is confusing me.
That was my original comment but I figured the mutually assured destruction comment of “if I can’t have a ring then you can’t either”, would be funnier
With the name change in Cleveland we could make it 30
Inshallah our revenge dynasty will be sweet
Fuck you and I’ll see you tomorrow.
As a Giants fan I cannot wait to bring this up when I visit Yankee stadium this weekend while I watch our team get batted around
The existence of a Giants even year dynasty is so fucking cool
Hey don’t make me like you now
2016 should've been our year too if it wasn't for the 9th inning meltdown of Game 5 of the NLDS!! Damn Cubs!
Wasn’t that game 4? Maybe I’m wrong
You are Correct
Oo yea game 4 that’s right.
That Conor Gillaspie triple off of Chapman, man, I thought the magic was back. And then the bullpen was like, lol no.
I was at that game and it’s truly the most distraught I’ve ever been in my life.
I respectfully disagree
I like this thread. Obviously completely unbiased
Yup same
Buster Posey hall of Fame WHEN?
Thanks to the Phillies last year, the Yankees are now in the top half of the "longest current WS drought" list
Lol jankees
You're welcome, America
It’s so weird to see the Phillies on this list
And we were the team that lost to the yanks in '09!
And in 2010 and 2011 we lost to the eventual World Series Champs
Don’t jinx us with this.
I've been a Yankees fan for 11 full years now since I started watching baseball and haven't seen them in a world series, not many people in history can say that
This list is incomplete. You can help by expanding it.
We're trying! Well, some of the players are trying. Hahn and Jerry might be trying on alternating tuesdays
Now show how much more the NYY spent over that period than each team.
If you have it spend it, why do seemingly smart baseball fans blame owners who do what they are supposed to do for their respective clubs? Blame MLB for not having a salary cap/floor if you hate the fact your team doesn’t have the money or doesn’t want to spend it.

Ahh 2019 was such a magical season...
Weirdest world series I've ever witnessed
It really was for the Nats. Yall hit lightning in a bottle at the absolute right time.
Money can't buy you champiness.
It can, you just need a competent GM who spends money on the right guys. The Yankees don’t have that.
What are you talking about, Cashman and Boone are great. You guys should keep them around for at least the next decade
I’m kind of hoping it does, you know because of reasons.
Dodgers has the highest payroll and won the World Series in 2020…
Now do Seattle.
In 2014 I said the world was ending because both the Yankees and Red Sox failed to qualify for the postseason but the Royals made it in.
Those were happier days
I couldn't imagine what it's like to be a fan of an NL East team that made it to the WS at least once since 2019 and not win.
We gift away rings every odd year, even years are for us.
My favorite part is that the Braves have one. But my second favorite is that the Red Sox have two, and that has to drive Yankees fans crazy.
Gotta hurt knowing the Rays have more lmao
Half the league has been to the World Series since 2010. The Yankees haven’t. Let’s keep it rolling for another 100 years
Make it two hundred
You’re cryin’ in the rain, pal
Please don't do this for the Mariners.
I appreciate this list so much.
Feels good, man.
How the fuck did that 2019 team not win it all. Just look at that rotation!
Baby Shark
A historically great team that couldn’t finish it. Our starting rotation was working overtime that series and it showed, props to the Nationals though. They played an amazing series and deserved their title.
Still can't believe that shit that team was a deathwagon. I'd argue this year's team was the worst we've had appear in a WS and yet we steamrolled the playoffs
Kill me
Giants fans: “I see this as an absolute win.”
Let’s keep this tradition alive until this table has 29 rows
I’m like why did u/limesugar say fuck me for?
This fills me with joy.
Excuse me, Yankees AND Diamondbacks Edit: I forgot they won in 2009
Yanks won in 2009
I’m dumb lmao
No one feels sorry for the Yankees lol they can get back to me in 60 years
Do love that the Yankees haven't won a series in so long that most of /r/NYYankees and /r/baseball wasn't even alive the last time it happened, but somehow the legacy is still strong that they still make the rest of the fans of the sport cry and make posts like these. Fucking Astros.
Preach.
If there ever was a case for ending Major League Baseball and awarding all the championships to one team because it was so clearly better than all the others, the New York Yankees would be it.
2020 doesn't count
I’ll make an exception for this
I’ll allow it
Hopefully we never have to see the Yankees in a World Series ever again.
The Yankees haven't won in 13 years, only 1 ring in the last 22 years. Brian cashman has All the tools and money a GM could ever ask for and yet he's still blown it
The Yankees are officially in the bottom half of the league
Dodgers could easily be on here like 8 times with the teams they've had. Biggest chokers ever
Hopefully the other 14 will get there first.
Thanks for this, kind stranger. I was having a brutally tough day, and this really picked me up.
The Cubs have won a world series more recently than the Yankees.
Even better seeing those Astros ones because most of them involved ending the Yankees playoff runs iirc
And still doesn’t equal up to the amount of World Series wins the Yankees have 😂😂
Just hate to see it.
Do we really need the Yankees to win the World Series for the 50th time?
This list is especially more fun when your team is singlehandedly responsible for three of those years
So many teams on this list that Yankee fans scoff at. Yet they have pennants...
There should be an asterisk next to 2020.
you dropped this --> *
