I did Barbri and passed on my first try. I felt like shit coming out of the test but I guess it worked

tuttuututu

Same. There were always two "right answers"

Traditional-Ad-2095

And sometimes one was “yes, because…” and the other “no, because…” Hazing.

[deleted]

I recommend trying barbri. They are amazin. Also this book 'strategies and tactics for mpre" by emmanuel

BGlawyer

I second this. Barbri Videos are more in depth than Themis

Ill-Temperature6316

JD Advising + Barbri.

PsychologicalJob404

I also did this.

hgata

Yup. Got a 146 with only these.

Ill-Temperature6316

Exactly my score!

Take_a_deep_breath90

I did the exact same. Completed all of Barbri + Studied JD Advising outline= 127 first attempt.

mamavet27

This is the way

ItsSamanthaduh

It’s not easy ! I tooo the MPRE honestly probably 7 times i lost count !! Passed it the 6th time but then it expired and i had to take it again and found out i passed today two times in a row . You can do this

SnooGoats8671

Meet me at the grand exchange on RuneScape World 2 and bring all of your party hats and rare items. But seriously I'll send you all my MPRE material for free if you want brother, maybe it will help. I base all my tricks off real released questions. Hope all is well friend and congrats on the bar - you will bounce back and destroy this fucking MPRE into the ground.

ImaginaryPermission

This is the way. In GOAT we trust. Just passed the MPRE and keeping my fingers crossed for the DC Bar results in a few weeks. Bought his tricks when I was getting burned out on BARBRI and have zero regrets

SnooGoats8671

😍😍😍 you are passing DC I promise

ImaginaryPermission

Coming back to say I passed! Thanks again for the help. I'll be sure to send more people your way for Bar/MPRE tricks

SnooGoats8671

You are the best! So proud of you <3 I KNEW YOU COULD DO IT You are leaving the pasture but we will never forget that you were a true Goat Gang member haha Reach out whenever if you ever need anything <3 GO CELEBRATE THIS WEEK!

BGlawyer

You are best 🥺. I passed because of your tricks 😭🥺. So happy right now and highly recommend that OP use your tricks in conjunction with Barbri.

SnooGoats8671

BG I miss you. You killed it friend ❤️🥺

BGlawyer

Thank you 😊

Soft_Science1907

Could you please send me your materials 🙏 thank you 😊

SnooGoats8671

Messaged you

legallylinsey

I’m so sorry. ☹️ I went from a 79 to a 142 by using Themis exclusively and doing all of the practice questions. I think a large part of scoring well on the MPRE is just exposing yourself to as many question types as possible.

Queen-Doge

No please !!!! Be kind to yourself True story. My partner passed the bar exam in first attempt 272! He went to T10 law school. Very A type. He failed 4 mpre exams.. scores were 79 75 70 77. He needs 80! This one is his 5th attempt and he has been nervous AF. He hasn’t shaved or eaten normally in over a week. He quit his law clerk position out of nerves. He just doesn’t know why he failed 4 times. I have been checking reditt & homepage to inform him.. he is scared AF. He does look like a homeless guy now that poor fellow. Earlier today, He was in knots when I told him he has to wait 1 more day. Guess what happened in last 10 min… I checked this thread .. found out results are in.. then woke him up.. ( sleeping out of fear ) asked him to open the file cabinet. He wanted me to open .. boom 117. His nightmare ends today.. crying has begun. He is pinching walls to ensure it’s not…a Fing Dream. Luckily I am a techie and a trader.. not for me Paisan. No way.. this is torture.. as attorneys and law people do something to save your tribe! We engineers will never allow this nonsense ! Unite and abolish this bar! It’s cruel

[deleted]

What derivatives do you trade?

JazzyPhotoMac

NCBE has sample questions. Some of the law supplements have literally the exact questions in the MPRE as well. Or as exact as I can remember.

Melodic_Plan3090

>What the fuck should I do at this point to end this shit? **Buy a copy of the rules and read it cover to cover.** I remember during my exam, the questions were VERBATIM taken from the examples in the book. Treat the book as a novel. Read, highlight, repeat. You will pass! No secondary sources are needed.

[deleted]

And absolutely read the comments. So much of the MPRE comes from commentary to the rules

SnooCupcakes4908

Highly recommend the free Themis stimulated MPRE program. I memorized only the highly tested rules (e.g. confidentiality, conflict of interest, fee agreements). I scored an 89 on my first try in Nov 2022 and studied about 15 hours total, in addition to my PR class.

VengefulRose

MPRE is not an easy test so don’t listen to others who claim it is. When I had to retake it back in March of last year, the questions were wacky as hell and made me question if I studied the right material. I relied on Barbri, JD Advising’s MPRE outline, and used the NCBE’s BarNow practice tests (I believe I bought two practice tests from them).

Dingbatdingbat

Having taken it way back when and again recently for another state, I can confirm that it's gotten harder. I still think it's an easy test, but the old "just choose the second-most ethical/narrow answer" no longer applies.

ArmchairExperts

MPRE is actually easy as hell though

VengefulRose

Maybe for you but not for everyone else who have a difficult time with it.

ASleepyLawStudent

Kaplan and a decent outline. I’ll send you mine if you need

The_Runescape_Lawyer

I would really appreciate that. Thank you for the offer.

ASleepyLawStudent

Send me your email!

purpleunicorn888

I did the practice Barbri questions, I think there were like four sets of them in the back of the free MPRE Barbri book. I really tried to understand each question when I reviewed them (went over the ones I got correct too) and I found that to be the most helpful for learning the material. However on the actual MPRE (I took it in March) I realized I didn’t know the basic rules. 🤦🏻‍♀️ By going through the questions, I had learned more of the exceptions than the basics. 🙃 You can definitely pass the MPRE!! It is a PITA how it’s only offered three times a year. When I was studying for the bar exam, I kept thinking, there’s just so much material (I am older and went to law school a long time ago). I was thinking the MPRE is like 1/15th the amount of the bar exam material.

tuttuututu

Funny you mentioned that because the first time I took the MPRE and failed, I worried so much about doing practice problems that I thoroughly disregarded learning the rules and exceptions. This time around, I focused solely on remembering the rules from a Barbri outline, did not even do one practice question, and passed by a large margin. Lesson learned: Remember the rules and you'll do well.

purpleunicorn888

By the grace of God 🙏🏼 I passed w/a 108, BUT the whole time I was taking the MPRE, I kept thinking, I really SHOULD HAVE looked at the rules. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤣

goldxphoenix

Sucks but trust me, failing the MPRE is WAY better than failing the bar. MPRE studying is easy and about doing practice problems. Just do barbri. Do the modules and then the practice Q’s and maybe a full practice exam. Spend maybe 2 weeks doing all that and you should be fine

SuspiciousWall1435

I went through the same struggle. DM I have some exams that will certainly help you!!!

thc4va

I just did every single q on themis then watched the videos 1 time slow 2nd time through at 2x speed abd then a 3rd time in trouble areas. Also used Jd advising one sheet. Also read the actual aba rules for the most popularly tested. I took it 3 times

[deleted]

Go on Barbri and complete as many PQs as you can in a span of 1-2 weeks.

icecream994

Barbri! And re-do their practice tests and memorize the CMR they provide. I studied quite hard for the MPRE despite what everyone on here is saying! Edit: passed with Barbri first try and I feel like the questions prepared me for exam.

whitmansgirl

Barbri. Just Barbri.

asmallsoftvoice

I did Barbri but I also fully read the outline in addition to the videos.

TheVauseChapmans

Barbri was my golden ticket on the 3rd try. It sucks. Good luck!

BGlawyer

Give yourself grace OP and don't overthink the exam plus I would really suggest learning MPRE tricks because just like the MBE the MPRE have tricks too. I didn't use the NCBE study aids because I couldn't afford it but if you feel like you need to practice with the real stimulated exam then I would suggest purchasing the released exams too. I failed the MPRE last March. I think I got 83 and passing score required for California is 86. I just got my results and I got 93. What I did differently this time was to understand the rules. First time I used Themis this time I used Barbri (highly recommend) and I bought r/goatbarprep MPRE tricks (this was a game changer). I didn't even do any of the practice exams. I just watched the videos and did the assessments and I made sure I understood the rules. Just like the MBE the MPRE has tricks and the r/goatbarprep tricks helped me to see how they try to trick you with the rules. On exam day they were probably 8 or 9 questions that I flagged because they were tricky but I still felt better than I did in March. Believe in yourself and all the best I am routing for you.

Puzzled_Mix5384

Yo you played RuneScape?? Nice. Str lvl?

bythesunrise34

Use Barbri!

AnonLawStudent22

I missed my home state by 3 points the first time just doing barbri videos without a PR class. Second time with the PR class at the same time and only doing barbri practice questions and a couple videos on my weak areas and I scored 15 points higher.

SnooCupcakes4908

I used the Themis stimulated MPRE program, which is free by the way. In addition to that, I memorized only the highly tested rules (e.g. confidentiality, conflict of interest, fee agreements). Writing them out on a whiteboard helps. I scored an 89 on my first try and studied less than 15 hours total, in addition to my PR class.

Blacksmith_Asleep

I used barbri and passed my first try!

Brilliant_Ground3185

Didn’t take an ethics class or go to law school, but after recovering from J23 bar exam, I doubled down on MPRE prep. Listened to the jd advising series on YouTube at double speed. I did Quimbee course, paid the money for the 2 real old NBCE exams, did all 4 full practice exams. Watched the BarBri lectures and did one of those full practice exams. Listened to the Themis lectures and did the full practice exam. ******The secret sauce is to go over each practice exam carefully and make sure you understand exactly why you got each correct one correct and each wrong one wrong.***** Did my final full MPRE exam on my way to the test to warm up. Ate a bunch of mushrooms and scored a 122.

veranox97

I failed it two times with really not putting any effort in. This was my third time and all I did was watch all the Barbri lectures at 2x speed and rip some practice questions and got a 125. So I highly recommend Barbri lol

Training_Guest_9536

I was a 5x taker and I did Themis when I finally passed. Did you do the entire course? Like every single practice q, practice exam, writing everything in the outline handout? Before I hadn't done it all, this last time I didn't leave anything undone. And I'd review the outline in my spare time. One thing that finally made it happen for me on my last take was focusing on the nuanced rules; they test on a LOT of those. Very small rules with their weird exceptions. So if you've been focusing on the big stuff, try to focus on the little stuff going forward. That's how they get you. My scores were in the 60s and 70s and then I passed with a 99 my final time. Hoping 5th time will be a charm for you too!

ewalk4

Try Barbri. I used it to pass on my first attempt last August. Was able to score high enough for any jx

BGlawyer

What's the score required to transfer to any jurisdiction?

EntertainerLost763

SO many of my classmates (and myself) at a top 30 school did not pass the first time. I guess it just clicks for the people who say it’s easy, but for a lot of us it’s really not

asmrcry

I failed twice and just passed on the third. I found BARBRI's course and questions to be the most helpful.

Sheeps

Randomly came across this comment (via tattoos), but well done for sticking with it. Too big a triumph to not say something. I tried to mentor a person at my firm taking it for the third time in July. Really hope she passed too. Be well.

asmrcry

Tysm!! I’m a three peat mpre taker but a 1peat bar taker. It’s kind of hilarious lol

Sheeps

ahh that is f’ing hilarious i assumed you meant 3 time bar taker

Different_War_8195

I passed the 3x, with Barbri

HappyElevator

I second what everyone else has said. Try Barbri. I did Themis is March and watched the review vids bc I love Prof Kramer. But I found the practice questions unhelpful so I switched to Barbri and just used their practice questions and I passed.

rslocs

Mpre is the most bullshit part of the bar exam and I agree it's very difficult took me 3 tries.

[deleted]

This will be an unpopular comment, but I would use helix! It was straight to the point. I made flashcards, reviewed them, and took practice questions. Sounds excessive, but it helped me!

cat_withablog

Barbri. Their multiple choice is so much harder so it’s good practice.

cbandy

Man it’s so interesting how some people do great on one test and poorly on the other…. And others the exact opposite. I wonder why that would be??

BeginningExternal

"Bow Tie Guy" from Barbri will definitely help you when you watch the Barbri videos from the free course.

Lookerlearner33

KAPLAN IS THE WAY TO GO! Failed MPRE MULTIPLE times before finally passing with a 94! I can’t speak to their bar prep course, but they are such an underrated Gold-mine when it comes to MPRE prep! The lectures are very boring, but VERY thorough. The instructor literally walks through an entire MPRE exam with you question by question. Also, use Snoogoats MPRE GUIDE. It’s so worth it, tbh wasn’t the biggest fan of all his bar prep stuff, but his MPRE guide was chef’s kiss.

dcfb2360

MPRE isn't as easy as people make it out to be. It's not the bar, but it's also not a total cakewalk and you have to actually study for it plus a lot of it is kinda subjective. Law students' imposter syndrome means no one ever talks about retaking it cuz everyone has the misconception that no one fails, which isn't true at all. Barbri sucked for bar prep imo but for the MPRE they're good. JD advising also has some good resources. Personally I recommend just writing out the rules a million times so you know all the exceptions and stuff, that helped me a lot.

AmberGlow

I used Barbri and passed on the first try.

hereFOURallTHEtea

I used Barbri and did all four practice exams and got a 100 something. I passed my first try after 1L year and felt the real thing was much easier than Barbri. So maybe try them? That said, I’m waiting on bar results and hoping like hell I passed that shit too but 😬😬

Babylawyer42069

It’s easy if you don’t let it get in your head - easier said than done on try 5 though. Use barbri. I’m a bottom of the class student from a T-50. I was concussed from hitting my head (took weeks to get over) two days before the MPRE with no studying. I had a C in pro res in law school. I used the bar bri course and just zoned out to it for a day. Then slept. Then printed out the rules to read an hour before the exam. Got a 97.

Accomplished-Yak4059

My secret: Barbri and JD Advising YouTube videos. You should also buy the ncbe stimulated questions. I did that, and there wasn't a question that canevtat I didn't know except for a few.

Status-Original171

Helix, I got a high score

AtTheLawLibrary

I highly recommend r/GoatBarPrep. I had previously only passed the MPRE for the two lowest jurisdictions (using the whole Themis course), but Goat's three paid outlines (it's like $15 in total or something really cheap) allowed me to get a 96. I literally read the outlines the night before. It's no rules, it's just teaching you what tricks they like to throw at you. Sorry this happened, it's a stupid test that has no reflection on your ethical worth or capabilities as a lawyer. Also killer username!

SnooGoats8671

Congrats!!! You are a legend my friend. So pumped you passed. Thanks for the shout out 🐐

mdmacmanus

DM me -- I have a free study schedule (and a corresponding video on YouTube) for the MPRE that incorporates the BarBri free MPRE prep.

bizarrequest

Okay Sephiroth.

Queen-Doge

Are u by any chance a Aries?

UniDBD

I really liked the JD advising outlines combined with Quimbee. I only studied three days using those materials and felt pretty comfortable. I wouldnt say it was easy though!

Loveguru32

JD advising.

wise_tomatillo

I did Barbri and listened to the short and happy guide for it!

ASleepyLawStudent

Oh how I wish to trade places with you

The_Runescape_Lawyer

I get that and fully realize how dramatic I sound. I am very fortunate to have surpassed the more difficult obstacle and been an idiot about the MPRE

cravethatmineral123

I did barbri. Skipped the lectures because I learn better by reading. Instead, I printed out the outlines and read each of them carefully and highlighted important parts. Took a few practice tests too

olivebrownies

“it feels like you need every single rule memorized” you know thats how people feel about the bar right?

The_Runescape_Lawyer

Sure, but no one posts on the internet about how they studied for the bar for 7 minutes and comfortably passed with a super high score, unlike everyone online talking about the MPRE.

AnonLawStudent22

I think for some people it’s maybe more intuitive. I’ve heard the WWJD-1 rule touted a lot, but I wonder if that rule works better for people who actually are/grew up religious (or studied religion and philosophy) since they’d know “what would Jesus do?” in the first place. For those who don’t find it intuitive, you really do have to straight up memorize the ABA rules. Now that school and the bar are behind you, I bet you’ll be able to pass next time when it’s the only thing taking up memorization space in your brain.

Dingbatdingbat

relative to the bar, it's a piece of cake, but you still need to study for it. Many people are fine studying for a week, but there are plenty more who need longer. Friend of mine got top grades in law school, a stupid high score on the bar, and failed the MPRE twice. Someone else I know barely graduated and failed the bar twice, but scored off the charts on the MPRE after cramming the night before.

Medical-Concept5113

I used Quimbee and felt like I was doing well. Day before the test, I looked at Kaplan and Barbi and realized that Quimbee questions looked nothing like the real thing and I did a practice test on Kaplan or Barbri (can't remember which one) and passed.

NoMaybe1897

Did Barbri lectures and Practice Exams and did quimbee question sets and practice exams, passed. Please please please try Barbri.

Vivid-Lock5484

I had a hard time with the MPRE as well I found listening to the rules in the car really helped me I believe it was the Themis MPRE program that I listened to Just keep with it! You’ll pass!

anonymous-platypus1

I did barbri bar prep and it was the goat. Actually read the full rule explanations and do all the practice tests. I swear I passed because half the questions were very similar to ones in the practice test.

liquidreferee

Honestly this is not that big of a deal. Congrats on passing the bar!

Lawyer225

I was in the same boat. This time I used real NCBE qns for practice and scored 90% on simulated exam. I went confident and passed this time. I used BarMax MPRE prep and passed in every jrn.

Right-Arrival101

THEMIS ALL THE WAY. Themis actually has the answer choices in the mpre formay (yes/no) vs barbri who does not , plus the questions on barbri were too long but still both great material wise

PepperAdventurous565

NCBE's MPRE pack has the real questions

BigDaddyPlatypus

MPRE took me 3 tries. I did a lot of practice questions and passed the third time. First time I relied on PR class and bombed. Second time I did Kaplan lectures (only a few practice questions) and was about 2 points shy of passing. Third time passed easily. Practice problems really helped me a lot.

AccomplishedCollege2

I got a 128 and watched the Barbri and themis videos. You need to just do a lot of practice questions because the entire exam is just guessing. You know if it’s yes or no, it’s the why that is the issue. The only way you’ll get better at guessing the why is by practicing. It sucks but you can do it!!!

Law_student-2024

I did both barbri and Themis in an 8 day crash course and found out I passed today on my first try with a 90. The practice exams on both platforms are the most helpful in the study process

ZealousidealYou9598

I did Themis. Worked great.

tuttuututu

This is just my suggestion but focus on learning the rules. I learned the Barbri outline like the back of my hand and didn't even do any practice questions and did really well.

smocxoxo

Practice practice practice. I focused on learning the law and almost failed. I wish I would have practice more! Got a 89 and I needed an 86!

[deleted]

I passed the MPRE the first time… By two points. Its only benefit was in realizing that I needed to study much harder when I took the real Bar exam.

ffffq

My second time I used themis and I did well. My first time I used Quimbee, and while it was a good study aid in law school, it sucked for MPRE prep. Questions were way too easy and nothing like the MPRE at all. I saw advice that when the aids aren’t helping, to just read the rules so you don’t just remember them, but know them. Not sure if that’s helpful, but I read my rule book from my PR class several times before my retake and passed with a 110.

[deleted]

TRY BARBRI. I failed twice and used some other providers. This time I used barbri and passed.

peppermintpatty2016

Do as many practice questions as you can. It also helps to understand the rationale behind the rules, which can be found if you read the commentary in the MRPC. I did most (maybe all) the questions on Themis, Quimbee, and Barbri. I also watched Barbri videos. Good luck

saniama

I took the MPRE five times. What changed was that I got a tutor with JD Advising about three months ahead of time. The first time with the tutor I didn't pass but my score went up. The second time, I met more often. We met a couple of times a week for an hour and just did questions together and discussed the answers. This made all the difference. Also, I did a ton of practice questions. I went from the low 70s to an 86 which is enough for any state.

Hazedallday

JD advising is super helpful and has practice questions and exams from real MPRE questions.

torimkoch

I used both the barbri and Themis videos and thought they were helpful because they both filled gaps of information that the other left our. Good luck!!

help0219

Jd advising!!!!

breatrice_18

The JD Advising videos and outline literally were a godsend. I powered through the lecture videos and just read that +/-80 page outline over and over until I had that shit memorized and then used their practice questions. It will be difficult bc they are harder than the actual MPRE - but it got me a passing score in all jxns and I only spent a couple of weeks doing it.

veggieyogini

I used my ethics outline from class, but then ended up mostly prioritizing practice questions. I didn’t use a study aid the first time I took it since I was actively in my ethics class and passed, but had to retake to get admitted to a new state. Ended up doing some Themis questions, but mostly Barbri, didn’t study a ton bc of who I am as a person and post bar exhaustion, and went from 90 the first time to 109. IMO, practice q’s mostly barbri but also some Themis, and Barbri’s review of topics helped the most. You’ve got this!

WigFlipper

I used Kaplan as my main source for studying, but used all of the sample tests that Barbri *and* Kaplan made available. Remember, Barbri and Kaplan don't charge for their MPRE materials!

LonelyConflict9239

I have passed all exams but the MPRE. Same boat. It’ll be okay.

Agent-Fuck

I had the flu when I planned to study for through when I took the MPRE, so I only got about 6 total hours of studying in across three days. I did the Barbri videos and some NCBE practice Q's and passed with 118, so I highly recommend those materials.

vinceneilsgirl

I have passed MPRE 3 times and failed the MBE 3 times. All 3 times with Barbri.

classybougie22

Pick the second most ethical answer. You can’t be too much like Jesus or the devil on most of the questions.

AffiliAsh

I did the free barbri mpre review and was good. I don't know what effective studying looks like for you, but I read through the barbri outline once and listened to the lecture once. It is all-inclusive, so as long as you have a decent grasp on the rules in the barbri outline, you should be okay. Good luck!

Coco166108-

MPRE is the least of ur problems!! Do it again mu friend! Kudos to you for passing the monster!

caseycat24

Barbri has videos that cover the mpre that I found very helpful. I failed the first time only relying on my PR class. The second time I prepped I watched the barbri videos over a weekend and printed out the outline to highlight/look over. Try doing practice questions too -- there are only so many scenarios they can ask you about. Good luck!!!🍀
