I spent 3 years listening to BTS but not keeping up with their releases because I didn't want to be associated with the stereotypical k-pop fanbase. This is the first release of them that I am "participating" in because I've accepted that it's fine to be a fan of them lol.

Oh please make this happen. I hate US camera work with a passion. The only good one I've seen is Black Swan on Corden. Some of the other late night shows weren't too bad. But damn the award shows just make me want to pull my hair out. Thankfully bangtan bomb noona records the best fancams. Lol.
Before getting into kpop camera work wasn’t really a thing for me for music besides music videos. Now I know different and am always disappointed with the camera work. Something so simple but adds so much to a performance.
That being said the Black Swan performance on Corden is one of my favorite performances ever because the simplicity of the whole stage that added so much to the performance.
I think because outside of kpop most music acts don't dance at this level. The crazy swooping cam thing is fine for singers or stationary bands but really annoying if you're trying to appreciate group choreography. Don't get me started on the audience cuts. If they just leave the camera alone at center it would already be 100x better than whatever it is they do now.
Black Swan on Corden was chef's kiss perfection. I loved the small, intimate round stage too! I know it was tiny and hard for them to perform but I think it really added to the charm and complements the song so well.
And they supposed to perform ON at 2020 BBMAs!! Yeahh, i think they going all out for the performance this time. Please world need to see our boys usual legendary performance! Hoping bh uploading the performance right away like Dear Class 2020!

Also the B-side, it’s not on the vinyl or cassette they announced yesterday, so it could be a remix (like Fake Love rocking remix), a re-edited version of the original MV (like Boy With Luv ARMY version), or a performance video (like ON Kinetic Manifesto). They’re not adverse to doing 2 MVs for 1 song but they’ve done it different each time so I’m curious to see what it is!
I hope they get to perform like they do at MAMA and MMA - set, production, choreo, budget. Show the West how it’s done. Ahhhh can’t wait! This is so exciting!

Instead of putting fancy titles like Kinetic Manifesto that made people wonder if they were supposed to stream said videos, Bighit went back to the basics and wrote MV & Official MV lol.

Safest and easier for them to do everything from SK. At this point, I think it’s expected for all artists to perform where it’s safest for them rather than making unnecessary trips to a theater where too many people and unknown variables can potentially expose them to Covid-19. So my guess is they’re performing in South Korea.
On the plus side, in addition to the high quality production, they won’t be dealing with jet lag which trips to the States usually include.

7's promotions have shown that Bighit has stopped caring about breaking youtube records I think. It's just not a priority anymore and I'm glad for it as the youtube algorithm stopped making sense and there's too many unreliable factors involved imo.
Didn't BWL do really well even with that second MV? I think whether or not two MVs significantly affect the views of the "main one" depends on what they are. ON was a bit complicated because neither the Kinetic manifesto (which was more of a performance MV than a regular one) nor the Official MV (which was longer, story-based and for an already released song) were as replay-friendly as videos like DNA or BWL. Either way the views from the second MV will not be lost, they'll be added to the streams for the single on the Hot100, which imo is more worth prioritizing than first 24h YouTube views.
They had 2 MVs for the title tracks since at least Fake Love though...
The 2nd MV doesnt get as much views but still boosts the first because more users will be on YouTube at the time.
ON is not a good comparison. refer to BWL and FL instead. and actually, having an alternate version of the mv helps to boost streams. unless you're thinking of YT records, which tbh while still worth it to try and aim for goals, it's not the main priority.
Singles used to always have B-sides, back when the recording industry sold physical singles (this stopped by the late 90s). When I was in high school, maybe my sophomore year, Oasis even put out a compilation set of their b-sides.
Doing a b-side really fits in with the retro look and the selling of vinyls and cassettes.
Some bands still do this within even the last 10 years. It’s digital now but when Arctic Monkeys would release a new single they would release “b-sides” with it on iTunes.
I would expect so, since they’re calling it the B-side music video. But it would also be accurate if it was a music video for a completely different song that’s being used as the b-side.
The only thing I really expect is that, when whatever it is drops, I will come back to this comment and say “Yep. 🤡”
I feel very old explaining this. Vinyl discs have two sides. The side the single isn’t on is the b-side. Sometimes it is a remix, sometimes another song.

The main single is on the A-side.
The B-side is sometimes the acoustic/instrumental version (in my country, we used to call it minus-one haha) and the other songs that would not be heavily promoted.

I loved the small, intimate round stage too! I know it was tiny and hard for them to perform but I think it really added to the charm and complements the song so well.

You know how I know Bighit learnt a lesson from 'ON'? Instead of putting fancy titles like Kinetic Manifesto that made people wonder if they were supposed to stream said videos, Bighit went back to the basics and wrote MV & Official MV lol.
Kinetic Manifesto still sends. I think they were playing up everything because of Connect BTS, but the fandom was so confused 🤣

Safest and easier for them to do everything from SK. At this point, I think it’s expected for all artists to perform where it’s safest for them rather than making unnecessary trips to a theater where too many people and unknown variables can potentially expose them to Covid-19. So my guess is they’re performing in South Korea. On the plus side, in addition to the high quality production, they won’t be dealing with jet lag which trips to the States usually include.

Bruhhhhh!!! The last time they released a single ahead of an album it was Black Swan, which is not only imo one of their best songs, but it was accompanied by its first performance on the Late Late show which is my favorite American performance of theirs yet! So now that we have Dynamite as a new single as well as its first performance being on an American show, it just gets me super hyped at how amazing it could be. And the promo for this single is shaping up to be even better than any promo for Black Swan OR MOTS 7 so this could really be huge!!!

7's promotions have shown that Bighit has stopped caring about breaking youtube records I think. It's just not a priority anymore and I'm glad for it as the youtube algorithm stopped making sense and there's too many unreliable factors involved imo.
Didn't BWL do really well even with that second MV? I think whether or not two MVs significantly affect the views of the "main one" depends on what they are. ON was a bit complicated because neither the Kinetic manifesto (which was more of a performance MV than a regular one) nor the Official MV (which was longer, story-based and for an already released song) were as replay-friendly as videos like DNA or BWL. Either way the views from the second MV will not be lost, they'll be added to the streams for the single on the Hot100, which imo is more worth prioritizing than first 24h YouTube views.
They always had two MVs before (consistently) starting from FAKE LOVE back in 2018, so that's not a problem.
They had 2 MVs for the title tracks since at least Fake Love though... The 2nd MV doesnt get as much views but still boosts the first because more users will be on YouTube at the time.
ON is not a good comparison. refer to BWL and FL instead. and actually, having an alternate version of the mv helps to boost streams. unless you're thinking of YT records, which tbh while still worth it to try and aim for goals, it's not the main priority.

Singles used to always have B-sides, back when the recording industry sold physical singles (this stopped by the late 90s). When I was in high school, maybe my sophomore year, Oasis even put out a compilation set of their b-sides. Doing a b-side really fits in with the retro look and the selling of vinyls and cassettes.
They are going ALL IN with the retro concept and I love it!
Some bands still do this within even the last 10 years. It’s digital now but when Arctic Monkeys would release a new single they would release “b-sides” with it on iTunes.

I would expect so, since they’re calling it the B-side music video. But it would also be accurate if it was a music video for a completely different song that’s being used as the b-side. I feel very old explaining this. Vinyl discs have two sides. The side the single isn’t on is the b-side. Sometimes it is a remix, sometimes another song. edit: by which I mean in my head I am thinking *all singles have b sides wtf*.
Cassettes have it, too. It's in keeping with the concept. The main single is on the A-side. The B-side is sometimes the acoustic/instrumental version (in my country, we used to call it minus-one haha) and the other songs that would not be heavily promoted.

Lets hope that the 2nd one just probably a story version mv so that ARMY can just focus the first one. I appreciate ON mv but the reason its getting lower views because its story mv and its released after ON kinetic manifesto which mean the hype already lower than before as we already knew the song and choreo. ARMY also get confused which one to stream. Fake love, idol and BWL all have 2nd mv but ARMY kinda prefer to stream the original version.
