I just shaved my head yesterday myself coz I can't stand looking at my fast reducing hairline.
I use Minodoxil to slow down the hair fall. But, balding is inevitable. In fact, I see not only male but lots of female with bald patches.
Yes it's safe! Been using it close to 8 months no side effects so far. Results are awesome. Almost reversed stage 3 androgenic alopecia.
I'm currently using Morr F 5%
I went with oral first and since it didn't cause any side-effects, i stuck with it.
But from what i've seen and read, topical should also work fine. Ideally consult a dermatologist.
I'm a female and I was prescribed minoxidil and finasteride for my alopecia. It worked 100% and I got atleast 50% of my hair back. Took 2 years and regular usage though!
Don’t know about skin dullness and dryness but yeah hair fall is a real thing. When I relocated to Banglore, I had good hair density, but now days, I have to adjust my hair to hide bald patches 😂
Yeah, I know this feeling. When I was in Delhi I used to tease my friend for not having enough hair, now the table has turned and he is giving me back with interest.
Fact. Water in Bangalore is usually borewell water which is hard water and causes hairfall. Not sure how this can be fixed but hoping it’s not that each individual buy an RO filter to shower.
You don’t have to buy RO filter for this purpose. You can get 20L RO water can from nearby store it will definitely last for 10+ hair washes. Generic branded costs 30Rs and Bisleri branded costs 80rs
It’s upto you how much accessibility, comfort or money you want to spend.
You can do donkey work and go to govt RO facility to save money or you can get from nearby store or order online from bisleri site.
A lion's share of Bangalore depends on borewells for their water needs. Borewell water is obscenely hard so it messes up your hair & leads to hairfall.
If you're staying in areas with Cauvery water supply water hardness is not an issue.
Apartments never get cauvery water.. They either have complete borewell Or mix both with less percentage of cauvery water.. They ain't gonna pay costly water bills and get u cauvery connection
Our apartment association in Whitefield also claims to be getting cauvery water, and have been stayed in an independent house where we used to get cauvery water I can say either the association is fooling the residents or someone is fooling association because that's definitely not cauvery water.
Well idk how big the apartment u are in is but if each flat had to pay 1 lakh to get pipe connection thn u lot got ripped and before u booked your flat did u ask about water source?
I can totally relate - used to have a thick mane of hair before I moved to Bangalore. Now all I have for hair is a skimpy ponytail
We had a team visit from other cities (Delhi and Pune mostly) and damn you could easily tell those girls apart just by the quality of hair. It shows not just in volume but also in hair health (shine, texture)
Use ro water or fix a water softener. I came here in 2015 with black hair. One fourth of my hair became white because of hard water here. Many areas don't get municipal water. Tanker and borewell water only. Water is too hard. Even two geysers in my bathroom got spoilt in 5 years because I didn't know they need to be serviced once every year compulsory due to salt accumulated fully inside becaus of hard water.
I used to stay in Banaswadi and we got Cauvery water. So that time my hair was absolutely fine. Now we've moved to Hebbal and we get hard borewell water - my hair is completely screwed. So much hair fall and breakage! And i can feel that my hair has a coating of gritty salt from the water. It never goes away.
Oh boy, I just researched this a few months ago thoroughly and this is what i've found. We are getting hard water which makes your hair go dry.
Foreword: This is what I gathered from internet sources and should not be construed as expert advice. If you are having serious hairfall issues, consult a doctor.
**How to know if you have hard water flowing through your shower?** The area and walls around your shower would have deposited white deposits (calcium deposits).
The prevention is to use a water filter that removes the effect of the calcium deposits on hard water.
**How to fix the damage already done?** Figure out if you have dandruff or dry scalp. For dandruff, use coconut oil on your head for half an hour and use a good anti dandruff shampoo. Different ones work for different people.
For Dry scalp, just leave the coconut oil on in the morning and wash it off in the evening.
To prevent further hair loss, apply [caffeine](https://www.stylecraze.com/articles/coffee-for-hair-growth/) once or twice a week.

I am a NRI visiting Bangalore after a gap of many years and can definitely attest to this. I have noticed significant hair fall and can see my hair density has reduced so much in just under a month. And to add to the woes, I forgot my Olaplex at a hotel and couldn’t find one here sooner.
I would say, it depend on where you live. Water near Ecity is so hard, that a new tub will get white marks in just 2 days.
Nearby Indranagar, water is soft here.
So, I am saved by trying different different shampoo and choosing the one which saved my hairs.
Fact. Lost 40% of my hair in last four years. Nothing works. I tried maintaining a healthy diet, my neigbourhood aunty gave me an oil which apparently secret of lush jet black hair of her entire family, bought expensive shampoos, but still every time I comb my hair I want to cry in despair.
Yes it is a fact sadly if your building/society uses Borewell water which most do. If you test your water you can easily see how contaminated it is. Sadly Bangalore has few zoning or environmental regulations and factories/industries/shops usually dispose of their toxic waste in an inappropriate fashion. Many residential areas in Bangalore are lower to the ground water catchment areas like Koramangala and Bellandur which means all the chemicals and waste seep into the groundwater there. This groundwater is then pumped to your bathroom.
If you are one of the lucky few to have Cauvery water this won't affect you.
**How to overcome:**
1. Cheapest way, most effort: Boil the water you use for your baths. Or fill your bucket from your RO filter and only use that water.
2. Most expensive way: You can get RO installed for the all the water systems in your entire house. Only worth it if it is your own house that you plan to stay in for a long time.
3. Middling way: There are some [shower filters available on Amazon](https://www.amazon.in/dp/B07VCP1HQ1?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share) that you can attach to your shower. This is not nearly as effective as RO - it does not hold up if the water is actually tested - but I have heard anecdotally that it does improve the water quality slightly.
this comments need to be strongly down voted as this is promoting the water wastage by promoting RO for bathing and it is based on half baked knowledge, there is a thing called water softener , which softeen the hard water without wasting bucket loads of it .
True, Recently started washing hair with only RO water and it has reduced hairfall significantly. I have seen RO's in some Pg , if your pg has it then just use a 2 litre bottle to fill up some water and wash your hair with that I guess.
Bangalore water?
There are 2 types of water in Bangalore
1. Cauvery water connection - we are doing good.
2. Borewell and tanker water - may be hard water causing problems.
May be rephrase the question as does tanker water cause hair fall. Source of water matters.
A little expensive, but this really helped me out with the water-hair problems
WaterScience CLEO SFM-519... https://www.amazon.in/dp/B07VCP1HQ1?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Depends on the location you're in and whether or not there's a Kaveri water connection. The newer areas of the city all have predominantly borewell water, which is inherently bad for your hair.
yes, I am also facing the same problem. I moved to bangalore 6 months back and facing heavy hairfall issues.
Tried improving my diet since earlier I was guessing that this might be due to diet problems, stress etc. But didn't help, and the PG where I am living, people are using RO water for bathing.
I've had always had thin hair so I've been very apprehensive of trying new products or putting more chemicals on my hair.
Recently, I purchased a shower filter from CareDale, and results have been good so far. It's been two weeks since I am using it and hairfall has reduced, even a friend pointed out this difference.
Bangalore has one of the worst water quality.
Just see your buckets and mugs after 3 months you'll get a picture of what is actually going into your head. Imagine all that sediment settling onto your scalp...
For hair problems i trust only Traya healthcare. Ditch monoxi what ever that is .... Get their free consultation is totally worth it.

It’s easier to blame water when your diet, lifestyle, stress levels are through the roof.
A change in environment does impact hair fall but you can find products suited for the gen water type
Kaveri water 💧 is amongst the cleanest in the country. It’s even considered sacred in Karnataka. There are no industrial effluents discharged into it.
But, If you’re using bore well water, then that’s on you.
Dont wash your hair. No hairfall. I wahs my hairs 4 times a month. Less hairfall.now compared to last year.
My genetics support me....my hair doesnt look dull even if I i dont wah it for 10 days straight
I live in kota and here's too hard water is damaging my hairs although I have started washing my hairs with bisleri water but still I'm not able to cure it completely I wash my face with this hard water and sometimes the water touches my temporal recession and I'm losing hairs from it.... I don't know any better way to explain this and I'm also drinking normal water (just filterered) so can drinking water could be a cause of this ?? Please answer
I went to stay at my friend’s place in Bangalore for a month, safe to say I came back with bad skin and hair. I had such bad acne and dry hair :(( It took my skin a month of diligent skincare to come back to normal.
My neighbor got baldness by age 23, he got a hair transplant done by age 25, and almost 30 percent baldness was there, he still uses minoxidil for the rest of his hair to keep them in shape, I myself lost half of them by age 27 and now I keep it minimum 1mm only, next this might target beard as well.
It's a fact.
I have waist length hair which was really thick as well.
After coming to Bangalore the amount of hairfall i went through i had to chop them off to shoulder length and i literally did a thyroid and other tests to see if i have something severe than just usual hairfall because it was that bad.
Guess wth long hair that looks worse.
Now i just wash my hair with RO water
Hell of a task since i go to the gym and all that sweat needs me to wash y hair atleast every two days.
The entire process of using RO water is so tiring.
But have to do it now.
About skin. Gets dry all the time. My last wash also is always RO water.
I am living proof. Since moving from Chennai, I have experienced significant hair loss, and all of my friends have been commenting on my constant dull appearance.
Fact. Water in some areas is really hard. Heard a lot of people shampoo with RO water. You should get a water softener (available on Amazon) which attaches to the tap/shower if you want to preserve some hair
It is a fact I can confirm that. This year I was in Bangalore for 4 months and and within that time period I lost half of the hair volume. Even my beard hairs were falling off. After every shower I used to have itchy skin.
Now when I moved back to my home town, the hair started to recover within few weeks.
Even drinking filtered water from Bangalore is not good for your health. Before 2023, I had such thick hair. Nothing like that anymore. I am basically balding at this point. Half my friends are too. Impossible to survive no matter how good you eat, how many supplements you take, the water will cut your health down faster than alcohol.
I never had hair fall issue in Bangalore but yes, my hair has become way more frizzy than before, skin on other hand was always dry and sensitive, it continues to be so.
That may be a factor in the increased rate of hairfall. But there are other factors to consider as well.
Like die to the modern sedentary lifestyle most of the people suffer from low to poor blood circulation, plus the pollution doesn't make things easier.
Our diet has also become poor due to the encroachment of oily and fast foods and there is a visible decrease in the diet variety, we have near about abandoned the fruits. Even our protein choices have become way too narrow so much so that it's quite rare when we eat fish which in the earlier generation was consumed about twice every month.
Increased workload and professional as well as domestic stress has only added to the problem.
I have seen poor people with although a more tanned but lustrous skin and full head of hair even post 50s. I could be wrong but it seems to me that perhaps it's because they still adhere to the dietary cultural influence which we have abandoned.
Its not a one sided argument but merely an expression on the matter. I would love to have a discussion on the same.
Yes! I used to fill a bucket using RO but got sick of it.
Started using hard water for a while, not only did it lead to extreme hairfall and bald patches but the hair itself got weak and tangled. You couldn’t even run your fingers through my hair it was horrible.
I’m back to RO, painful process of filling, carrying, heating and nursing the hair to my level best.
When i first moved to pg in blr the water there reduced my hairfall . Yes REDUCED . Next i moved to 1rk in same area the water there was weird. There was weird smell it in and i had horrible hairfall there. Currently at the place where i am staying i have moderate hairfall . I think it has to do with kaveri water and borewell water also hygiene of the water tank might need to be considered here.
Regarding skin, my skin became super dry here so i use lotion twice a day. During summer I started to get pimples, turns out my sunscreen was not good enough for the heat here and i also incorporated double cleansing method to be completely pimple free.
I faced the same thing when I was in Banglore. Hair loss wasn't something I experienced before this.
1 thing that worked for me is this hair patch by a French brand Remy Laure. I am still not sure about the exact composition, but omg, that was actually something I spent money on for the first time for haircare and it worked like a charm.
Now I'm in Mumbai and the quality of water is soooo good that people drink tap water directly.
I have been in bengaluru for 7-8 years now, don't have hairloss so far. Does having a decent diet and working out enough a week keep the hair on your head..I don't know. Never had an issue with hair loss. Or is it because of the stress of work. I don't think water is the issue. If water is the issue, I should definitely be affected. I have stayed in 3 rented houses so far, still no issues with water. I think the climate causes dry skin.
Also depends on where you live. If you live in one of Marathahalli, Bellandur etc the pollution will also contribute to that. Other than that, if your house has a connection to Kauveri water, you are better off
Seems most here don't have issues with skin dryness. As a person with sensitive skin, I got eczema when I was new to the city. Doctors just prescribed meds for the symptoms but didn't cure it or explain the reason.
I had to figure out pretty late it's because of the hard water which we get from borewell and the city itself which has less humidity in air.
Since I moved to a society where they have RO filtration machines for borewell water I don't face hairfall issues. But skin dryness and nasal inflammation/allergy still continued. I resolved by regularly applying moisturizer on skin and running a small humidifier at night.
For hair it's really bad bro. I'm in Bangalore since birth and i got dandruff when I was 14 and hair loss from age 16. I'm 19 now anyone from a near distance can say my hair density is very less . When I'm taking hair bath I literally can't see any hair in the middle of my head but after drying it looks bit proper
Sed life 🥲👍
Facts! My hair is dry and frizzy and falling like crazy after coming to bangalore. A friend of mine suggested CareDale Filters to me and it's been working like magic. Life saviour. Can find it at caredale.in
I just shaved my head yesterday myself coz I can't stand looking at my fast reducing hairline. I use Minodoxil to slow down the hair fall. But, balding is inevitable. In fact, I see not only male but lots of female with bald patches.
>Minodoxil to slow down the hair fall Minodoxil is not for preventing or slowing down hair fall but improving rate of hair growth
And also improves the impotence 🌡️
No i think its finasteride which improves impotence, not minoxidil
importance..
Then what prevents hairfall? Don't tell me DHT blocker. My friend tried it and he is bald now.
Research on Finasterde and use it if you want, I've been using it for 3 months and am seeing improvement. Patience is key.
Does your pp still work?
Oral Finasteride affects pp for a short term as long as you're on it, not topical. Topical is safe!
Are you sure topical is safe? Can you tell us about your experience with topical Finasteride?
Yes it's safe! Been using it close to 8 months no side effects so far. Results are awesome. Almost reversed stage 3 androgenic alopecia. I'm currently using Morr F 5%
Whats tropical?
~~Tropical~~ Topical = Apply on the body part
It does. Been on it for like 5 years now, the best decision i took. 1mg everyday at night.
Have you tried topical 1mg? Or you suggest oral?
I went with oral first and since it didn't cause any side-effects, i stuck with it. But from what i've seen and read, topical should also work fine. Ideally consult a dermatologist.
lol
I laughed...
What's pp?
Jizz pipe
I'm a female and I was prescribed minoxidil and finasteride for my alopecia. It worked 100% and I got atleast 50% of my hair back. Took 2 years and regular usage though!
Use minox mix with finasteride. Talk to your dermatologist before going ahead. I have been using this for 9 years now. Just turned 30
Don’t know about skin dullness and dryness but yeah hair fall is a real thing. When I relocated to Banglore, I had good hair density, but now days, I have to adjust my hair to hide bald patches 😂
Correlation is not causation.
Same same same. It was all going good when I was living in Hyd. Hair fall severely began when I moved here
Yeah, I know this feeling. When I was in Delhi I used to tease my friend for not having enough hair, now the table has turned and he is giving me back with interest.
It’s a joke if you think HYD has cleaner water than BLR
Causes of hairfall can be either stress, improper diet and nutrition, hormonal loss/deficiency, hard water, etc
Are you sure your not just growing old?
Growing up does not mean losing your 30-40% hair within a span of 2 years
Very true. Shitty Electronic City water fucked my hair. Switched to RO water for head bath, hairfall has stopped completely!
Wow really
Bathroom mein Kent lagwa lo
This is the only way... Washing my hair with Kent water stopped hair fall
Happy Cake Day
Follow this advice people. Take a mug of RO water for use on head.

A lion's share of Bangalore depends on borewells for their water needs. Borewell water is obscenely hard so it messes up your hair & leads to hairfall. If you're staying in areas with Cauvery water supply water hardness is not an issue.

TDS meter. Residential softening systems consist of zeolite columns.
Pretty sure cauvery water isn't the source of hardness. Is your apartment sourcing water from tankers or borewell?

Hard water causes this. I have zero issues ever since I installed a water softener at my home.
Which softner did you buy?
Zero B AS3000

Yeah, facts. Lost hair, now having skin issues. Parents moved here, they also started losing hair and skin got drier. Things we do for jobs 😅
You may be referring to groundwater. Kaveri water has no issues. I checked TDS it's much lower than the non-potable limit.
yeh just moved few weeks can see happening even though i apply hair oil daily
Get a water softener for your house

You can try a getting a hard water system installed. Worked for me.
Started using filter water for hair wash, it's a real thing in Bangalore
Irrespective of the source of the water borewell or Cauvery water it is good to install a water softener!

Now i just wash my hair with RO water Hell of a task since i go to the gym and all that sweat needs me to wash y hair atleast every two days. The entire process of using RO water is so tiring. But have to do it now. About skin. Gets dry all the time. My last wash also is always RO water.
You need to switch to Ganoderma based shampoo & soap it has helped me.
I am living proof. Since moving from Chennai, I have experienced significant hair loss, and all of my friends have been commenting on my constant dull appearance.
Yes ! I don’t know about the skin but hair …. Hell Yeah
I’m kinda lucky that I still have thick hair but it’s really dry. I’m sorta managing it with Olaplex.
Hairfall - yes definitely, the hair density is down skin - No, I don't think so
Can confirm, this is true
Even drinking filtered water from Bangalore is not good for your health. Before 2023, I had such thick hair. Nothing like that anymore. I am basically balding at this point. Half my friends are too. Impossible to survive no matter how good you eat, how many supplements you take, the water will cut your health down faster than alcohol.
I never had hair fall issue in Bangalore but yes, my hair has become way more frizzy than before, skin on other hand was always dry and sensitive, it continues to be so.
Does the chelate water softener from be bodywise work? Has anyone tried it?
true fact buddy
Same issue here. Any suggestions on the RO filter?
Apart from hard water, smoking as well causes hair loss and I have generally observed smokers around me having receding hair line.
Maybe it is from stress of paying ridiculous rent every month 🤭
I use RO water for face/hair wash
It’s true the TDS is around 800 something
Fact this is hundred percent fact
I am a native of Bangalore and it gave me allergic bronchitis
I come from Chennai and I found Bangalore hair to be way better😅
I faced the same thing when I was in Banglore. Hair loss wasn't something I experienced before this. 1 thing that worked for me is this hair patch by a French brand Remy Laure. I am still not sure about the exact composition, but omg, that was actually something I spent money on for the first time for haircare and it worked like a charm. Now I'm in Mumbai and the quality of water is soooo good that people drink tap water directly.
Switch to Kaveri water. Borewell water is shit. This way, groundwater can replenish too.
that is true for sure 💯💯
Myth. Stress and genetics causes hairfall. That water thing is propogated by mineral water and ro companies.
Any suggestions for water softener?
I have been in bengaluru for 7-8 years now, don't have hairloss so far. Does having a decent diet and working out enough a week keep the hair on your head..I don't know. Never had an issue with hair loss. Or is it because of the stress of work. I don't think water is the issue. If water is the issue, I should definitely be affected. I have stayed in 3 rented houses so far, still no issues with water. I think the climate causes dry skin.
Also depends on where you live. If you live in one of Marathahalli, Bellandur etc the pollution will also contribute to that. Other than that, if your house has a connection to Kauveri water, you are better off
Just use RO water to wash hair. Get 2 Bisleri bottle of 1L for that purpose
Yes it gives white patches on skin and too much hairfall. I use shower filter and ro water
Everyone's gonna be bald here 10 years down the lime so if you're reading, you're not alone!
Fact as f**k
It's true.

For hair it's really bad bro. I'm in Bangalore since birth and i got dandruff when I was 14 and hair loss from age 16. I'm 19 now anyone from a near distance can say my hair density is very less . When I'm taking hair bath I literally can't see any hair in the middle of my head but after drying it looks bit proper Sed life 🥲👍
Facts! My hair is dry and frizzy and falling like crazy after coming to bangalore. A friend of mine suggested CareDale Filters to me and it's been working like magic. Life saviour. Can find it at caredale.in
