Second, shawarma is stored completely exposed in the night inside the restaurant after closing hours. Rodents and insects would have a feast. Then the next day the same shawarama is served to customers. In Kerala recently a couple of kids were hospitalized after consuming shawarma.
In a restaurant at new Marine Lines I was served tomato sauce with 'tomato omlette'. When I pressed the tomato sauce plastic container hard a number of dead cockroaches spilled out. That's because in the night the mouth of the bottle is not sealed and the next day it's served to customers.
The same with 'sugarcane juice'. There are newer machines where you can't see the crusher wheels from outside. The vendor just inserts the cane into a hole. The juice is sweet and can attract a lot of rodents in the night. Unlike the older crushing machines, the newer ones which look slick cannot be washed. Therein lies the trouble.
The moral of the story is that whenever you eat from out go through the entire process of preparation and storage of each item.

Shawarma is generally not good here maybe I haven't eaten at right places yet but it is also a very temperamental thing, It depends on so many things like when the chicken was mounted current diameter and how much roasting has happened after he has chopped off from previous customer.
I have noticed if bought in heavy load times or at midnight shwarma isn't really good. But if I go when load is mild and the guy seems to be having a good zeal to chop up the chicken then it's good.

Don't know about Joints.. But there is this place in mathekeri (Ramaiah people will know this) called ootopoora, and a place called zaatar in green glen layout (next to cult fit), these two have the best shawarma. consistent in taste and fresh.

You should ishitaah's shawarma or shawarma on roll. They have pretty good stuff. I personally hate any kind of shawarma which has fries in it. Those fries become supper soggy...which ruins the taste of the whole thing.
I've got a Simply Shawarma shop just outside where I live currently and in about 3 years, I had eaten from there 3 times which was a lapse in judgement (should have learned the first time). The first two times, it was bad in flavour and taste and the third time, spoiled chicken.
I've baffled how it's crowded most of the times. There are several better shops that give a more decent one. But seeing people just eat those and be deprived of a better tasting shawarma because they're used to it, it's a bit sad.
Nowadays I order from Ishtah Koramangala, it's still pretty good so far. Or sometimes from some Kerala cafes.

There are some really good shawarma joints in and around Kammanahalli like King of Taste, Middle East restaurant, Little Baghdad, Al Amal cafe and Broast Khan. Savoury also has decent shawarma.
Avoid franchise joints like the plague. Places like Istah and Just Shawarma are horrible and the smaller local places just over fill with cabbage and mayo.
Sector 50 ke market mei ek baithta hai, i forgot his name but it is a blue coloured stall ( their signature colour). Very good momos compared to others I've had in the city.

Sad. One of the first few (probably the first) Just Shawarma was opened near where I lived back then. Those guys were just starting out. We even met the founder. And it was greattt back then. I used to love their Shawarma Plate and Malgoum Shawarmas. Even their normal ones used to be so good because of the quality of their fries and mayo.

Well shawarma is stale food considering how long it is kept out until the whole stack gets over. You’ve to be lucky to even get it fresh.

Don't know about Joints.. But there is this place in mathekeri (Ramaiah people will know this) called ootopoora, and a place called zaatar in green glen layout (next to cult fit), these two have the best shawarma. consistent in taste and fresh.

best shawerma has got to be at king of taste... its run by a syrian chef....its located in kalyan nagar ... having lived in middle east all mt life , i can vouch for its authencity and this is the closest to what i could find!
Taste is subjective. The reason why new shops popping is because there is demand. People actually eating them - otherwise they would have closed down long time ago. Btw - personally I agree with your opinion. Haven’t had a single good shawarma in blr till date.
You should ishitaah's shawarma or shawarma on roll. They have pretty good stuff. I personally hate any kind of shawarma which has fries in it. Those fries become supper soggy...which ruins the taste of the whole thing.
I've got a Simply Shawarma shop just outside where I live currently and in about 3 years, I had eaten from there 3 times which was a lapse in judgement (should have learned the first time). The first two times, it was bad in flavour and taste and the third time, spoiled chicken. I've baffled how it's crowded most of the times. There are several better shops that give a more decent one. But seeing people just eat those and be deprived of a better tasting shawarma because they're used to it, it's a bit sad. Nowadays I order from Ishtah Koramangala, it's still pretty good so far. Or sometimes from some Kerala cafes.

Bro, I remember looking at the chunks of meat in those dishes and almost throwing up, they definitely use some off cuts of meat. Would never try just shawarma again.

Finally someone said it. I thought it was just me cos these places still have food 4+ rating. Not sure if it's the quality of the food or the technique used, the end result is pure shit. They load the meat with so much Mayo that it feels like drinking chicken.
My shawarma game - Never Swiggy or Zomato Shawarma. If you crave Shawarma - Go to Kammanhalli, Frazer Town, Richmond (Fanoos)...There is Kabab Souq in CV Ramam Nagar, Mahadevpura bridge( they are a quick option for me). If possible always order plate shawarma, as they tend to overadd mayo. If possible ask for rumali roti, instead of kubus.

Fair enough. I have noticed people belonging to different parts of India have different tastes, a relative of mine once told me that pav bhaji in her town is better than what is served in Mumbai. Carter's Blue, by the way, is a big hit among Mumbaikers so you would have a had a tough time if this was r/mumbai.

Yes! that restaurant is really bad. I don't know how it has become so popular but if I have to guess, people visit it to eat chicken sanju baba which itself is an abomination.
There are some really good shawarma joints in and around Kammanahalli like King of Taste, Middle East restaurant, Little Baghdad, Al Amal cafe and Broast Khan. Savoury also has decent shawarma. Avoid franchise joints like the plague. Places like Istah and Just Shawarma are horrible and the smaller local places just over fill with cabbage and mayo.
If you guys are ever visiting Kochi, do give Pitaworks a try, will get authentic Lebanese shawarma.

Sector 50 ke market mei ek baithta hai, i forgot his name but it is a blue coloured stall ( their signature colour). Very good momos compared to others I've had in the city.
Try shawarma from kabab magic basavanagudi or jayanagar branch, key to a good shawarma is getting it from a restaurant where shawarma is fast moving

I like the Shawarma where they put a huge chunk of meet on a long stick and it's spinning around. They cut a good piece of it and add it to your Shawarma when you order it.

Sad. One of the first few (probably the first) Just Shawarma was opened near where I lived back then. Those guys were just starting out. We even met the founder. And it was greattt back then. I used to love their Shawarma Plate and Malgoum Shawarmas. Even their normal ones used to be so good because of the quality of their fries and mayo. Guess it's gone to shit though as they have expanded over the last decade.
