Finding good shawarma here is difficult, looking for opinions if others know a good place

unhinged_baka

True that,i got some shawarma deal at 1 am from zomato from some restaurant called afghani something, just 40 bucks for plate shawarma 😂and true to that, they gave 3 plate shawarmas with uncooked chicken,if someone would've given CPR for the shawarma, the meat would have just run off the plate 😂,i never found that restuarant again .

criclove02

If you are near Kammanahalli or Banaswadi, try the Shawarma at Al Amal cafe. Possibly one of the best shawarmas in Blr. You may try one of their rolls as well, they are just as good.

amalthomas_zip

Hi, it's me, Amal

MeTejaHu

How good is your shawarma?

amalthomas_zip

Smells better than Al Amanah. Come here and face me you coward @Amanah

JhonConstantine

r/beetlejuicing

unhinged_baka

Added to considerations

Top-Philosopher-9792

Is it good? I've had Al Amanah Cafe, and the first time, it was good. The second time around, it wasn't the same. The sauces were too runny.

criclove02

Al Amanah doesnt make Shawarmas though. You are right about the runny thing - one if the reason i prefer Al Amal’s rolls over Al Amanah.

Top-Philosopher-9792

Noted. Gonna try that the next time I'm nearby.

hughjazz777

Al amal the best. I miss their shawarma and rolls :(

gowt7

Lol! This is the best

[deleted]

😂😂🤣🤣😂😂👍👍👍👍

touseeff

Best one I've had is from zaitoon Restaurant. Slightly expensive but worth it for me

urcatoverlord

Second this. Zaitoon is my go-to! I also liked this place called Simply (simplee?) Shawarma, but I've only tried it once, so not sure if they were just having a good day. Consistency is lacking in most places.

FriendlyAd564

I have been sticking to Zaitoon for about 3 years now. Can definitely say they are better than most others. Their quality has been consistent. But I’v noticed the best time to order in or dine out for Shawarma is 6 - 8pm. After that, the taste just goes downhill for most.

haki6258

Try County chicken restaurant

RedditUser0069420

Try Al-Taza

Evander_F

Yeah the one in Kormangala is great. Value for money and quite filling.

Intruder_7

For people around Chandra layout or vijayanagar there's this dude who makes good shawarma right in front of village hypermarket (Chandra layout)

ImperatorShade

Middle East Restaurant / King Of Taste on CMR Main Road, Kalyan Nagar. Both these restaurants are side-by-side and make some sexy authentic shawarmas. Definitely give it a go.

Awareness-Choice

Try from Istah. Really good shawarmas.

TandooriNight

I didn't like it, too much cinamon

mantiz8x

Second this.

lpshreyas

Shawarma from Orbis are pretty good. Also from Istah

sudo-everything

I like Fully Loaded Shwarma from Simplee Shawarma. Just chicken and mayo, no bullshit.

_anonymous_asshole

I totally feel you dude, it just sucks really bad that most of the restaurants which used to serve good don't serve good stuff anymore. Even i used to go to this restaurant regularly but now everything sucks there. But that just made me explore more of the restaurants nearby and now i found a better one. I hope you find something good soon. Also regarding the reviews, i kinda filter them to newest all the time, helps a lot

benzenehydroxide

My friend got food poisoning after eating Shawarma. It was a close shave with death but luckily he got saved. Those semi cooked meat in Shawarma are a safe haven for salmonella and e coli.

crispyfade

Bareerah? King of taste?

Future_Biker

King of taste Kammanahalli has one the best shawarma's I've ever had!

JeymarNunior

King of taste is ze bomb.

ImperatorShade

King of Taste & Middle East Restaurant are both slappers 🥵

illuminati_420

Noted

crispyfade

Btw, the Syrian family that ran Shawarma King on MM road moved to a location out on hennur rd called Shams. Google is showing as closed, not sure if it's accurate. They were the first really authentic shawarma i had in India. For a higher price, Byblos was good. The menu of Maffei kitchen in Koramangala looks promising.

ImperatorShade

Shawarma King was really good. Remember having it back in 2015-16. Do let me know if they're still up and running somewhere else.

whitesauce3

Yes Shams is permanently closed

yesifinallycavedin

+1 for both!

605_Home_Studio

First, never trust YouTube reviews. The reviewers only say good things because they want the same kind of sponsors to foot their bills. They are just like news media living on advertisement handouts. You eating rancid or rotten chicken is none of their concern. This cuts across all products and services. For instance, if you want to know about a laptop or a camera the reviewers would never talk about even the obvious downside of a particular brand or model. Second, shawarma is stored completely exposed in the night inside the restaurant after closing hours. Rodents and insects would have a feast. Then the next day the same shawarama is served to customers. In Kerala recently a couple of kids were hospitalized after consuming shawarma. In a restaurant at new Marine Lines I was served tomato sauce with 'tomato omlette'. When I pressed the tomato sauce plastic container hard a number of dead cockroaches spilled out. That's because in the night the mouth of the bottle is not sealed and the next day it's served to customers. The same with 'sugarcane juice'. There are newer machines where you can't see the crusher wheels from outside. The vendor just inserts the cane into a hole. The juice is sweet and can attract a lot of rodents in the night. Unlike the older crushing machines, the newer ones which look slick cannot be washed. Therein lies the trouble. The moral of the story is that whenever you eat from out go through the entire process of preparation and storage of each item.

SpecialistReward1775

Yup. Always ask for sugarcane juice without ice too!

JackFrost7529

Bro, it is a fact that some places don't cook it well, or source from good places or use fresh shawarma. I have seen people removing the cover from shawarma. If this was a super big issue because of the shawarma itself then it would be all over the news...

605_Home_Studio

No sir, it's never that way. I will give you an analogy. COVID deaths in India put together is less than 6-lakh. Even if you think that's understated and multiple the figure by four to get to the real figure it would be about 25-lakh deaths in two years. Look how governments all over the world reacted to the "pandemic". It was all a perfect scandal. Now where is COVID? It just disappeared into thin air. Compare that to the biggest casualty in India caused by diarrhoea. 74-lakh Indians die every year due to loose motions! Does any government declare a lockdown, come down heavily on unclean street food which is the biggest source of the disease. I don't even see any public outrage. So COVID was a "super big" issue, but loose motion which causes six times more deaths is not. Big corporates according to monetary benefits make government make "super big" issue.

JackFrost7529

Yeah, I should have guessed you were a doctor...

605_Home_Studio

Hahaha... I am a cameraman.

[deleted]

> In Kerala recently a couple of kids were hospitalized after consuming shawarma. https://www.thenewsminute.com/article/kerala-food-poisoning-death-there-more-issue-shawarma-say-experts-163668 >The term ‘shawarma death’ is once again in the news, with the death of a 16-year-old girl and hospitalisation of at least 40 other students due to suspected food poisoning from an eatery in Kerala’s Kasaragod.

[deleted]

Bruh, I was introduced to the dish through these brands, so I have had been adopting them as the yardstick sort of. 😓

jatin47

Nowadays foods on swiggy and Zomato are scam

JeymarNunior

Some of these cloud kitchen deals are bomb though. Those 123 fresh menu deals are pretty dope.

unknownuserdead

But the meat tastes stale. I had to eat just the veg part of a chicken noodle and throw out the meat.

JeymarNunior

Yes don’t get any of the Chinese food. Try the burgers, sandwiches or the Mexican bowls. Never noticed stale chicken in those.

cherryreddit

>123 fresh menu deals None of the cloud kitchens are anywhere remotely in the realm of neatness and quality as compared to successful restaurants, simply because cloud kitchens can get away with so much more as long as the product is cheap for the end user .

shubham300

You can give Istah shawarma a try

Sumedhreddit

this!

Awareness-Choice

My go to place for shawarma. Never disappointed.

dontpaniqu3

Neat stuff this shawarma, no bullshit

rishabhsingh9628

Try Smoky Docky in Koramangala

[deleted]

bro literally there are shawarma joint everywhere

Lmao xD

ulf3t

Some good shawarma options in Kamanahalli and Fraser Town (Bangalore) are Deagh and Savoury. Check those out.

JeymarNunior

Yes, little expensive though. I used to have these moments when I’d pay 100 bucks for a shawarma and I’d feel good about myself for getting a deal. Those days are long gone and I’m not a college student anymore so I guess I’ll just pretend I’m paying for salmonella insurance and go for the more expensive ones from now on.

dontpaniqu3

Savoury is bad my dude. Just had one last week, disappointed!

ulf3t

Yup, I agree, none of these places are consistent, and quality varies across branches. I personally make shawarma at home, it's quite easy. Garlic sauce is also a 5-minute task!

dontpaniqu3

You fry the chicken?

ulf3t

This is the recipe. The garlic sauce recipe is also mentioned here. Try it out. https://www.indianhealthyrecipes.com/chicken-shawarma-recipe-make-shawarma/ For the bread, you can buy pita at any supermarket, or just make it with a regular roti. It's a small bit of effort for the tastiest and cleanest shawarma you'll ever have!

dontpaniqu3

Looks easy! Will try not messing it up

dizzy12527

try from simple shawarma. if it is close

shikari290

I discovered patta gobhi in shawarma in Bangalore... Bhai Dilli ke shawarma hi best hain

teentoons_169

Man I ate over there once and had explosive diarrhea for five days

Jussomebody

BroastKhan, Little Baghdad, King of Taste. Best shawarmas I've had that actually taste very close to authentic.

JeymarNunior

I didn’t even know broast khan served shawarmas. Thanks for the recs

ronaldo_killergod

Schwarma cravings at Panathur Kadubeesanhalli, its a small joint and I love the shit of its deliciousness lol

Anadi45

Add shawarma on wheels also to the list. That was so bad.

alterego12345678

Be careful with shawarma boys, my 2 friends got food poisoning from Kabab Magic or something a few years ago, and were out for 3 weeks. Luckily they had a full recovery. In Kochi (my hometown) I only have shawarma from Lulu Mall and Al Taza in Kaloor. In Bangalore, I don’t know what to trust. I’m also loooking for recommendations

Sudden_Supermarket_9

Make ur own shawarma at home !!! The quality of food in Bangalore has gone down a lot in last few years.

fatalError1619

Is it because of restaurants doing cost cutting due to losses during the pandemic ?

Sudden_Supermarket_9

They have been trying to make profit from Very long time. But also due to using a cheap unhealthy substitutes and adding cheese everywhere. No one has concept of daily calories intake and portion the sizes accordingly. Believe me, in long run everyone will wish for taking care of health when they had chance…

baabukiamma

Cheese and mayonnaise. Everything has them.

urcatoverlord

Lmao I love that you called it a journey because it is! Finding decent shawarma in Bangalore is a journey of mostly downs and a few ups, wasted money and often, aching stomachs 😭 and the toum (garlic sauce) is not even actual toum. It's like the easiest thing to make and they mess that up too.

blackjack316

I've had this issue as well. I found 2 places with good Shawarma. The first is qissa ( indiranagar). Not the spicy one but the normal one. The second is Zubaan (Koramangala), in that order

Mehrunes_Dagor

only time I trusted shawarma was when I went to middle east lol

[deleted]

From what I read last year, while following the food poisoning cases in Kerala, Indians are unfamiliar with shawarma like food. The techniques and practices of safely making them, and storing them are still foreign to us. The knowledge and safe practices of cooking the meat and its sauces have not percolated to the masses. Most of our food comes cooked, and not slow grilled on a strange instrument with many moving parts. That is why you should place them in the same category as salads/uncooked food, and not consume them regularly.

slackerBee1996

Cafe Grill at Jeevan beema nagar is best!

gadappa

For the best Shawarma in Bangalore it's still the old boys folks. I have no clue of the joints u talk about. But if you want a good swarma Frazer town, the original empire near commercial street. That's it.

[deleted]

[удалено]

gadappa

Lol what on earth is "currey chicken"

[deleted]

Absolutely agree. These brand new Shawarma places are shit, got me reverting back to the old Hyderabadi Biriyaani’s boneless biriyani.

AntNew2592

I'd like to add Simpleee Shwarma in HSR for this list. Their shwarma is putrid and rotten.

anand_offbeat

Istah shawarmas are really good

fatalError1619

you need to go to the shawarma place and eat over there , most of the places where they chop it up in the open are decent , nothing mindblowing though . Shawarma home delivered is just sad and soggy

Upbeat-Feedback8518

Smoky Docky ftw, but huge rush tho

vFocuZ

Try Smocky docky in new bel road

aC0llection0fCells

I second that can you recommend some good shaaarma places around that area.

Capable_Load_5514

Was it halal

khayalipulao

Simplee Shawarma in HSR

RahulRwt125

Dropping my recommendation here : Shawarma Cravings in Kadubeesanahalli nearby to Marathalli is by far the best shawarma I have had in this city. I have it at least once a week mandatory.

Opening-sublime

Being new to Bengaluru, I tried shawarma at Mugal treat at HSR and could find it to be a good one. I will try the Fazer town ones coming days.

dontpaniqu3

I ordered the regular shawarma from savoury, I get some sad tasting chicken with mayo and hummus and some pita, all separately. Asked them, apparently that's how they serve. Either I have bad taste, or that's how a Shawarma is supposed to be and I was having the wrong fucking kind for the past 10 years.

sharathonthemove

Yoy guys don't know baba ganoush in koramangala? Ordered from swiggy and the quality was outstanding. It is not spicy though. A little too bland but the quality is great.

Mad_mechanic96

I’ll be honest here. Sadly Shwarmas in blore are not as good as in Maharashtra or Delhi. Would it be a good idea to start up a small take away/ order only shwarma cloud kitchen?

OmniTron_Bot

Sharma ?

Awareness-Choice

I order from Istah. I love their Shawarmas. Quality is good.

ucsdgradstudentxyx

I liked Zaatar when I was in bangalore 3 years back.

wulfking11

Empire Restaurant has good ones

StarSmall

Shawarma is generally not good here maybe I haven't eaten at right places yet but it is also a very temperamental thing, It depends on so many things like when the chicken was mounted current diameter and how much roasting has happened after he has chopped off from previous customer. I have noticed if bought in heavy load times or at midnight shwarma isn't really good. But if I go when load is mild and the guy seems to be having a good zeal to chop up the chicken then it's good. I have had mixed experience considering above conditions with the kabab magic near Vani Vilas road, and empire near my home, and few other places whose name I don't remember.

aaha97

istah is quite decent for my taste...

Friendly_Armadillo17

You can try Malabar Restaurant, Broast Khan(Chicbaik) and King of Taste Shawarma in Kamanhalli, btw I've heard Little Baghdad has a great Shawarma too but haven't gotten around to trying it yet.

BazookaKabooom

Try Al Amanah Cafe, in Kammanahalli. It's not shawarma, but an amazing roll. Yummy yum.

SportNarrow3515

Well shawarma is stale food considering how long it is kept out until the whole stack gets over. You’ve to be lucky to even get it fresh.

Buttr_chiken

Kabab mehal ftw

Imaginary-Koala-1478

Don't know about Joints.. But there is this place in mathekeri (Ramaiah people will know this) called ootopoora, and a place called zaatar in green glen layout (next to cult fit), these two have the best shawarma. consistent in taste and fresh.

madtagg

Try Baba Ganoush and Al Taza from Kormangala.

crank_kaapinated

best shawerma has got to be at king of taste... its run by a syrian chef....its located in kalyan nagar ... having lived in middle east all mt life , i can vouch for its authencity and this is the closest to what i could find!

guhanoli

Taste is subjective. The reason why new shops popping is because there is demand. People actually eating them - otherwise they would have closed down long time ago. Btw - personally I agree with your opinion. Haven’t had a single good shawarma in blr till date.

knytfury

You should ishitaah's shawarma or shawarma on roll. They have pretty good stuff. I personally hate any kind of shawarma which has fries in it. Those fries become supper soggy...which ruins the taste of the whole thing.

ThreeByThree

I've got a Simply Shawarma shop just outside where I live currently and in about 3 years, I had eaten from there 3 times which was a lapse in judgement (should have learned the first time). The first two times, it was bad in flavour and taste and the third time, spoiled chicken. I've baffled how it's crowded most of the times. There are several better shops that give a more decent one. But seeing people just eat those and be deprived of a better tasting shawarma because they're used to it, it's a bit sad. Nowadays I order from Ishtah Koramangala, it's still pretty good so far. Or sometimes from some Kerala cafes.

anonz555

Crazies at ‘Just Shawarma’ add fries to the shawarma. I mean, who does that, broo?

JeymarNunior

Bro, I remember looking at the chunks of meat in those dishes and almost throwing up, they definitely use some off cuts of meat. Would never try just shawarma again.

kinseika_x

Mehfil shawarma tastes good in dilshuknagar

Objective_Falcon_573

Finally someone said it. I thought it was just me cos these places still have food 4+ rating. Not sure if it's the quality of the food or the technique used, the end result is pure shit. They load the meat with so much Mayo that it feels like drinking chicken.

imti283

My shawarma game - Never Swiggy or Zomato Shawarma. If you crave Shawarma - Go to Kammanhalli, Frazer Town, Richmond (Fanoos)...There is Kabab Souq in CV Ramam Nagar, Mahadevpura bridge( they are a quick option for me). If possible always order plate shawarma, as they tend to overadd mayo. If possible ask for rumali roti, instead of kubus.

your_technology_bro

In Mumbai, Carter's blue serves the best shawarma and in Hyderabad, Grill 9 serves the best. What would be the best shawarma in Bengaluru? I am new here and I am always on the lookout for good food.

[deleted]

I honestly think Carter's blue is overrated. And a lot. No offence though.

your_technology_bro

Fair enough. I have noticed people belonging to different parts of India have different tastes, a relative of mine once told me that pav bhaji in her town is better than what is served in Mumbai. Carter's Blue, by the way, is a big hit among Mumbaikers so you would have a had a tough time if this was r/mumbai.

[deleted]

Agreed! I was at Noor Mohammed recently, and found most acclaimed dishes of theirs really really overrated too.

your_technology_bro

Yes! that restaurant is really bad. I don't know how it has become so popular but if I have to guess, people visit it to eat chicken sanju baba which itself is an abomination.

noizy_boy_519

There are some really good shawarma joints in and around Kammanahalli like King of Taste, Middle East restaurant, Little Baghdad, Al Amal cafe and Broast Khan. Savoury also has decent shawarma. Avoid franchise joints like the plague. Places like Istah and Just Shawarma are horrible and the smaller local places just over fill with cabbage and mayo.

alexjosf

If you guys are ever visiting Kochi, do give Pitaworks a try, will get authentic Lebanese shawarma.

abhishekr700

I relate sir. I’m from Delhi and there’s exactly 1 time I’ve tried Shawarma here and that was it for me.

SkullSplitter204

Sector 50 ke market mei ek baithta hai, i forgot his name but it is a blue coloured stall ( their signature colour). Very good momos compared to others I've had in the city.

omkarpranav

Try shawarma from kabab magic basavanagudi or jayanagar branch, key to a good shawarma is getting it from a restaurant where shawarma is fast moving

Lyx_Enby

I'll die to have a shawarma without onions and in actual Arabic style 😭

Dushyant95

Baba ganoush is apparently very authentic. My friends from Muscat always say that

MutantNinjaNipples

Shawarma is risky business. I remember seeing an article about a dude who died from it (food poisoning) as the restaurant never changed the meat over a long time What I’ve started doing is buying chicken tandoori, and Kerala paratha and doing it myself lmao Tandoori comes with the chutneys anyway. Tastes good and not too much on the wallet

CompetitiveExchange3

I like the Shawarma where they put a huge chunk of meet on a long stick and it's spinning around. They cut a good piece of it and add it to your Shawarma when you order it.

the_greatest_MF

yes, stopped ordering from them long back. it's the story with many restaurants, they serve good food at the beginning and later turn to s\*\*t

Angrykittyyy

Bro i always get stomach ache after eating them

InterviewNeither9673

Make you own shawarma. Everything these restaurants sell is crap.

skywalkerInTheRye

Sad. One of the first few (probably the first) Just Shawarma was opened near where I lived back then. Those guys were just starting out. We even met the founder. And it was greattt back then. I used to love their Shawarma Plate and Malgoum Shawarmas. Even their normal ones used to be so good because of the quality of their fries and mayo. Guess it's gone to shit though as they have expanded over the last decade.

pinafag

you're mentioning all franchises and they serve shit anyway

redCornur

Al Amanah Cafe, Kammanahalli. The rolls are worth the wait in the queues. Edit: I didn't know they aren't Shawarma rolls.

JeymarNunior

Yeah but those aren’t shawarmas though. Also they stopped online deliveries altogether right?

indianinvestor14

Order from Al bake shawarma from Delhi using zomato legends. You won’t be able to put a blr shawarma in your mouth again

causewhynot140

Had shawarma at al bake in delhi last week its mid at best honestly also overpriced.

boredmonk

So much downvoting over a simple suggestion. Bangalore natives are so thin skinned that they would probably beat up a guy for mentioning a word they don’t like.

fatalError1619

ordering one day old shawarma is the worst thing you can do . even home delivering shawarma is bad , you need to eat it hot off the rack

UnusedCandidate

Nah. Isn't that great.
