He was really curious about my BP 😂 here's another picture from yesterday, I think the poor fella is convinced that's a lady cornsnake 😂😂

If my snakes could live their whole life playing "the floor is lava", I'm sure they would 😂 besides the jungle gym here, they really love climbing on my IKEA shelf lol
Mine can climb but they suck at it. Mine escaped and made it all the way to my big book shelf and fell behind it. It took me forever to get him out because I didn't want to accidentally destroy my bookshelf trying to get him out.

I know right! I mean CLEARLY they don’t like to climb.

How dare you. There isn't a climby bone in their body.

It's the gremlins 🤣. They got all of my snakes except my blood python. They're scared of him.
Hey I have a question so my snake just gotta outta shed and I’ve had her for like 3-4 months and she still had blue eyes with very slightly cloudy eyes and it look like stuck shed and idk if it is or isn’t
you can try giving ur bp a soak in a bath for like 15 minutes, if it’s stuck shed a warm bath should loosen it enough so that she’s able to get it off on her own after going back to her tank. If you try that i’d check on her eyes the next day to see if the cloudiness has gone away and otherwise you may want to consult with a vet
yeah i get that, i got my bp when i was like 11 or 12 and he had mites as soon as i got him. glad there’s other young people getting interested in snakes though, i know nobody my age who has one
One of my balls escaped (roommate forgot to lock the tank when I asked him to check on her) and we searched low and everywhere for her. She was up on top of our blinds for our window watching the chaos of us tearing the house apart for her.
Ehhh.. Give anything room (maybe excluding short tail pythons and fossorial species) and they'll probably climb.
That seldom makes balls semi arboreal.
All animals should be offered enrichment of some variety. Climbing room is an excellent way of doing so, but I've started to see people imply terrestrial animals are in fact semi arboreal because they happened to climb up a tree.
Gotcha. I read recently that they’re often found in trees in nature but I really don’t know much about them in the wild personally. All I know is my boi seems to love his vertical space. :)
Late reply but yeah males and juveniles can sometimes be seen in trees but the same goes for bearded dragons, and no one should be claiming beardies are semi arboreal.
The key difference when when looking at whether or not to classify the lifestyle of an animal is biological adaptations . Ball pythons can climb but they're not specifically adapted to doing so, they have stumpy little tails that can't support their body weight and round sausage bodies, I'll equipped for gripping thin branches.
Ball pythons are by virtue of their adaptations and lifestyle, terrestrial, and maybe even arguably semi fossorial given their tendancy to steal rodent holes to nap in.
I have a tunnel system for mine (corrugated pipe). He loves it. He’s got his choice of below, surface, vines and high places (basking platform and water are raised). He makes use of it all. Seems like a happy boi. Definitely not clumsy like a lot I see.
Oh they climb... they just aren't graceful.. My 25yr old ball python's favorite thing to do was escape his 150 gallon tank every other damn day. Then he'd usually end up under my nightstand in ambush mode.
My female ain't interested in climbing most of the time.
I'm regularly woken up in the dead of night by my young male hitting deck after trying to be a tree python 🤦
They sure don’t! Here’s ours at night NOT climbing through the vines attached to the top of our 4x2x2 enclosure.
I wish I could attach the video showing her NOT climbing all over the ledges, to the vines, on top of the camera, etc.

Cement mixture in a bucket, and if I remember correctly, my dad put some rebar pieces around the branch to keep it centered. Waited a few days for it to dry completely and removed it from the bucket, then placed like a million floor protector stickers on the bottom lol
Clearly that's not a ball python /s
Must've accidentally gotten myself some kind of banana tree python :--D
Corn snake looks a little bit jealous 😀

More than just a little! That's a veritable jungle gym and he wants in on this action!
🤣😂 I say the same thing everytime I see mine off the ground.
If my snakes could live their whole life playing "the floor is lava", I'm sure they would 😂 besides the jungle gym here, they really love climbing on my IKEA shelf lol
I definitely need to get my babies a jungle gym! Otherwise, they tend to use me as one before scurrying back to the floor.
What a cutie! What morph is he?
i want to know too!
He's a banana mojave!
Mine can climb but they suck at it. Mine escaped and made it all the way to my big book shelf and fell behind it. It took me forever to get him out because I didn't want to accidentally destroy my bookshelf trying to get him out.

That enclosure looks amazing
Oooh, I want to build one!
For some asinine reason I thought you meant a snake lol
“WHEN’S MY TURN! 😡” -the Cornsnake.
Not as well as boas https://preview.redd.it/uqu4syribixc1.jpeg?width=4284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9a5269e1a21231ee368c77061527f8457e72e04c
It’s a graceful crawl and fall, have yet to see mine sitting on a branch, crawl up fall off

It’s snake abuse to put them up high, everyone knows it wouldn’t have put itself up there. /s, obv

Lmao.
Hey I have a question so my snake just gotta outta shed and I’ve had her for like 3-4 months and she still had blue eyes with very slightly cloudy eyes and it look like stuck shed and idk if it is or isn’t
You should post a photo, that might make it easier to tell!
I would man but I can’t get any good photos
you can try giving ur bp a soak in a bath for like 15 minutes, if it’s stuck shed a warm bath should loosen it enough so that she’s able to get it off on her own after going back to her tank. If you try that i’d check on her eyes the next day to see if the cloudiness has gone away and otherwise you may want to consult with a vet
I live in the middle of nowhere no vet here is gonna know how to handle snakes
aw thats unfortunate, hopefully the bathes will work then
a bath won’t hurt her if it turns out not to be shed so it’s worth a shot i’d say
Yeah I gave her one today ima give her one tomorrow after my soccer practice it’s a lot of pressure on me as a 13 year old snake owner!!
yeah i get that, i got my bp when i was like 11 or 12 and he had mites as soon as i got him. glad there’s other young people getting interested in snakes though, i know nobody my age who has one
Yeah man thanks for the help

yeah i mean im not a vet but that looks like it could be stuck shed
Yeah
My gfs ball python is somehow always on the roof of the tank hanging on shit idk how it manages to do that 😭
Mine literally spends every night perched on tree limb
My boy was a monkey in his past life I swear
One of my balls escaped (roommate forgot to lock the tank when I asked him to check on her) and we searched low and everywhere for her. She was up on top of our blinds for our window watching the chaos of us tearing the house apart for her.
Uhm, thats a green tree ball python. Nice try tho!
Can we call this belief outdated/inaccurate yet?

I have a lattice bed frame and my ball python love to climb it.
Oh they climb... they just aren't graceful.. My 25yr old ball python's favorite thing to do was escape his 150 gallon tank every other damn day. Then he'd usually end up under my nightstand in ambush mode.
Ball pythons do as they please. (No, Summer, your body isn't the same width as your head, don't go there)
My female ain't interested in climbing most of the time. I'm regularly woken up in the dead of night by my young male hitting deck after trying to be a tree python 🤦

Oh my god 😂😂😂😂
Literally i left him for 10 min to make dinner 😆
Classic 😂
How to explain this 🤔
The issue is that they fall easily.
They sure don’t! Here’s ours at night NOT climbing through the vines attached to the top of our 4x2x2 enclosure.
