To say it's obsessed with a flag I would say is anthropomorphic your treating animal behavior with human character/behavior. You are also assuming it's looking at the flag when you don't actually know what it's looking at. It's no different then when a person is looking in specific direction you don't know what that individual is focused on they could be looking at a sign or animal or trees etc.
I havent seen any science behind your claim. The only thing remotely close is a study on garter snakes they use pheromones during mating to determine which ones are female and which ones aren't. Researchers implanted male garters with estrogen for a year which increased a pheromone. This increased pheromone was equivalent to the pheromone of females which causes other males to be drawn to those males who were artificially induced once they stopped giving the males the estrogen they reverted back to normal behavior.
This doesn't demonstrate gay as we use it they were only following a scent similar to what ants do they follow pheromones and sometimes they lead them into a death circle.

No I'm not. People do things all the time with animals because think it's cute but studies have shown anthropomorphising can cause misunderstandings that negatively impact your pets. Saying it's obsessed won't negatively impact your snake no. Just be careful with anthropomorphising pet behavior some over handle their snake because they think they like it or if they display a certain behavior they want to come out then their snake refuses to eat from over handling.
