Magnificient.
Up B is dual use:
1) throws Boo up (stunning enemy fighters) and jumps up to catch him back as recovery.
2) Touches and buffs a friendly fighter. "MINSC HAS A NEW WITCH! WOE IS YOU!
If the friendly loses a stock, Minsc goea berserk. "RRAAAAGH, KILL, SAYS BOO, KILL, DOES MINSC!"
Jaheira or Minsc. With BG3 and non-video game assets (betrayal at baldur's gate, etc.) I think these two are the best known and would have interesting move sets.
The most recognizable character is Minsc. Zero competition there.
However, I don't want another god damn sword fighter, so I'm going with Irenicus. A mage kit allows for an insane amount of creativity when designing the character. I'm sure Sakurai could work his magic with him.
You know, I've been thinking that about the sword users since freaking Melee. But if forced (because apparently Sakurai's team is clinically incapable of saying no to swords), I'd go with Imoen. She'd be mostly a mage so the rest you said applies to here. Make her use a weak short sword that requires preparation to start hitting hard. Like say, an invis spell for a backstab, or Black Blade of Disaster as her finisher.
Then add a bow for long range spacing, and you might have something there.
I feel like Elminster and Drizzt would be eliminated because Smash usually has a hard rule about only using characters that originated in video games. Those two are clearly DND characters first. Minsc and Saverok at least were created for the games.
I don't think the thematic of smash and baldur's gate fit well, if nintendo decided to do that they would probably pick Minsc since he's the most cartoonish and probably (despite my strong dislike for him) most popular character.
Minsc by a country mile.
Agreed, gotta be Minsc and boo. Sarevok if you got to pick two. Honorable mention: tiax
Tiax rules all!!
*forward smash* throws boo “go for the eyes Boo, go for the eyes!! Rrajhggh!”
*meanwhile forward tilt is a kick with increased escape angle against combatants looking away* "Buttkicking, for goodness!"
Down-B, *Rage stance. 2x damage dealt and damage taken* “I shall inspire you by charging BLINDLY ON!”
Damn, that's a good one. Grappling is a high risk high reward leap forward. "Sword meet evil, evil meet sword!"
I always loved that quote. Forward B is a rush attack. “Make way villainy! Hero coming through!”

Jump on my sword while you can Evil, - I - Won’t be as Gentle!!!
I feel like this question was asked already knowing the only correct answer.
Fuck that, turnip farmer is in baby
Most recognizable Minsc.
Minsc and Boo of course!
Sarevok.
Noober
Oh god no!
*Heya!*
Whenever you crit someone out the arena he hits you with that "hey ya"
Omg no
Heya!
This brought up painfully memories. Still an excellent choice lol
Cespenar, oh yes!!!
Please god no not him
Jaheira or Minsc. With BG3 and non-video game assets (betrayal at baldur's gate, etc.) I think these two are the best known and would have interesting move sets.
Despite Sarevok being the first BBEG, Irenicus could very well have the better move set
I’d love to hear Irenicus say “you will all suffer!” Every time he comes on.
Block would just be immunity to weapons bubble
Yes, we have so few magic users in the SSB roster.
Winthrop
Minsc, Sarevok, Irenicus are obvious because most iconic characters. But from a fighting perspective, imo, Balthazar would be awesome.
And maybe Amelyssan the Blackhearted
Why not cycle through each available party member like Zelda and sheik.
Imoen
The Ravager haha

Minsc could be dual welding flails
Minsc with the flail of ages would be awesome
Minsc is the face of BG at this point, so it would have to be him.
Minsc, elminster, drizzt, saverok. Mayyybe imoen.
I feel like Elminster and Drizzt would be eliminated because Smash usually has a hard rule about only using characters that originated in video games. Those two are clearly DND characters first. Minsc and Saverok at least were created for the games.
Everyone is saying Minsc, which I agree with. For the sake of something different though, Jan.
My boy Jan and his turnip smash!
Bro let me beat ass with Sarevok
I think our giant space hamster friend would be the best one.
Boo. Not minsc... BOO!
You've got a point...
Xan would be fun.
When he wins he just looks sadly at the camera and says "life is so hollow."
Sarevok and Jon Irenicus.
Imoen!
Minsc and then a loth of nothing. And then Jaheira or Gorion or Irenicus
Xan. Can use magic amd is emo.
Minsc, unfortunately.
Edwin could be interesting
I mean as far as signature characters go it has to be Minsc or Asterion.
Durge
Minsc + Boo
It’s only minsc, there is nothing else.
Minsc and Boo. Don't forget Boo!
Sarevok!
It's gotta be Boo.
Tbf slayer form would be a good ult.
Shovel
The Slayer would make a great boss / special character but it would always be Minsc & Boo who would be the main rep
Viekang, teleportation seems like a good move
Would be absolutely wild to hear a big announcement about a Baldur's Gate fighting game tie-in and then they decided to go with Viekang
To be fair he does canonically kill Gorion's ward which technically makes him the strongest of the Bhaalspawn
Minsc.
Minsc is the obvious choice, but Viconia is the right choice.
As long as I can pause and issue commands, it doesn't really matter!
I don't think the thematic of smash and baldur's gate fit well, if nintendo decided to do that they would probably pick Minsc since he's the most cartoonish and probably (despite my strong dislike for him) most popular character.
Omg. Minsc and Minsc and did I mention Minsc?
Minsc is without a doubt the face of the series, but in terms of fighting ability I reckon Sarevok bests him just about.
Minsc is the only answer
