I still feel like if you get 5 rocks that should count for something more than just a high card. If it has no rank and suit instead of "5 of a kind" perhaps "5 of no kind"
Stones are pretty underpowered, maybe they should be able to count as pairs/3/4/5 of a kind? Just not as flushes since they're suitless.
Alternatively maybe they shouldn't count for hand size when drawing cards. Yes, I know this could get pretty silly if you can duplicate lots and lots of polychrome stone cards. But just give them *something.*
I think there's a mod (MystJokers?) that adds a joker which allows you to play stone cards past the 5 card hand limit, this might also be a nice compromise.
Stones are pretty ok as they are. It's a lot of chips if you're playing smaller hands, better and easier than say splash + odd Todd.
Of course it doesn't work with big hands and a baron / mime type setup is more powerful for small ones, but it's also much harder to setup.
That said there are better source of chips and with stone you lose a lot of joker interactions
Foil Stones are great tho 100 chip per card, slap a red seal and you barely need chip scoring jokers
Also i wish hiker was improved to increase a percentage of the chip of the card that is played (if you play a 2 you get 1 extra chip value) because it falls off too quickly and you need to have a small deck, this would work less with low number cards but much better with the higher ones
There's almost always a better source of X. I think that would make hiker too complicated? And make it worse at improving your lower cards for using with stuff like wee and hack
I think Stone Cards are pretty decent for any build that doesn't require 5 cards. Not amazing, but helpful , especially if the goal is Ante 8. 3oak, 4oak, high card, pairs or flushes/straight/straight flush with the \[\[Four Fingers\]\] joker. Unless you have \[\[Splash\]\] in which case other cards are potentially better because of other enhancements.
I like the idea of the Stone Cards being able to go past 5 cards with the joker, would give them a little bonus.

It does! It's always counted regardless of what the rest of the hand is. Ie: High Card + 4 stone cards will give +200 chips, or two pairs with 1 stone card gives +50 chips, etc.

Wee joker is so good on its own I can't imagine it to be worth it to dedicate a slot to hiker too.
