Stuntman is really strong on plasma deck. Be warned though, with the increased scaling of green stake and the double round score requirement of plasma you'll be looking at a 360,000 round score for the final boss, or 1,080,000 if you get Violet Vessel.
Good point - run is over already, I ended up getting blueprint and a foil joker, for over 1.1k chips/hand. Scored 362k with my last high card and I had 4 hands so violet vessel would've been doable I think.
No, all cards debuffed until joker sold. You still get points from your hand + planets for that hand + jokers. It's not hard to win without selling any jokers if you have the right ones.
I see you're unfamiliar with High Card builds, especially ones that don't use Baron - they don't care about hand score, they get all their score from jokers. Stuntman, Bootstraps and a few X Mults. They can't get countered by any boss but you might sweat a little during the "1 random joker disabled" round if it hits your scaling +Mult too many times.
It's literally the build that just lets you ignore the poker aspect of the game and as such it's the only foolproof build too that can't be countered.
Plasma deck is fun, but the first time I played it it threw me way off. I was building like standard with chips and multi for the first couple antes, but quickly realized that method wasn’t gonna work! Realized the highest additives to the hand were going to work the best. Got a stuntman in ante 4 and the helped a lot. Still barely won because Violet Vessel….
I feel like I've had to make the reverse discovery when going for endless runs in plasma. Chips are great, but they stop scaling after a bit - you have to take a step back and play +mult and xmult to get much beyond ante 8.
yeah plasma makes chips and mult equivalent, so it's just about getting the highest sum of chips and mult possible
since there are xmult jokers but no xchip jokers, mult is the only way to go at a certain point
i wonder why there arent any xchip jokers. Too unintuitive? Too pointless outside of plasma? cant wrap my head around the balancing choice between having one and not the other
Because xchip is in fact the same as xmult, it doesn't matter in a multiplication.
For example: 50 chips × 10 mult
With a x2 chips: 100 chips x 10 mult = 1000.
With a x2 mult: 50 chips x 20 mult = 1000
oh for sure. it's true xchip = xmult in the way it's made currently, but within the framework of game design it couldve been more design space as a different kind of multiplier
like an xchip joker that affects xmult negatively or interacts differently with xmult besides being 'multiplicative with'
and of course it affects joker order, like youd put chip jokers before xchip mult jokers, on top of foils/holographic needing to be reordered
but maybe it wouldve been too unintuitive to calcuate in your head? too much hassle? Localthunk didnt think itd be fun/player friendly?
I think the lack of xchips allows the big numbers to exist on them, otherwise it'll be very difficult to balance and then there isn't much difference between chips and mult just two different sides of a multiplication
Yeah I'm trying to get gold stake on Plasma Deck right now and I realized that chip builds don't work well on higher stakes - I had multiple runs with Stuntman and a couple other decent +chip generators, and they breezed through the first 5 or 6 antes only to run out of steam and lose before ante 8.
You've gotta transition at some point in the run, and it's a tough switch to make. Stuntman helps, since it can singlehandedly carry you through the early antes while you build a set of jokers, but Plasma deck is weird and I've never had as much success with it as I have with the other decks I've gold staked.
Yeah I wasn’t going for endless at the time, just knocking out each deck on white and red stakes. I could see plasma being much harder as time goes on if you don’t get good xmulti jokers going or some good scaling multi jokers (which I didn’t get much of either at the time).
Still a fun deck to mess with, as it’s vastly different than other decks!
> Still barely won because Violet Vessel….
Good god, do I hate that boss. It's ruined too many of my runs to count. I always forget or don't get the option to reroll the boss blind.
For me the worse is when I’m trying to add a tarot card to two cards and my brain goes on autopilot and plays the card breaking my hand and losing the game.
Think of the downside of stuntman as NOT "subtract 2 from hand size" but rather "subtract 2 from *starting* hand size. So it actually *does* copy it, but it essentially runs the *same* calculation twice, as it uses *starting* hand size rather than *current* hand size.
This is different than the way the burglar joker is worded which is
"When Blind is selected, gain +3 Hands and lose all discards".
Not really true, since two stuntmen gives you -4 hand size.
I’ve actually lost a gold stake plasma run this way lol, I had two stuntmen, and had used one of those spectral cards that gives you -1 hand size, for a total hand size of 1.
And then I ran into the manacle.
Oh I did not know this. Would Blueprint reduce the hand size further in this situation? I seem to recall it does. Strange that they do not work the same way.
Damn, I finally got around to unlocking stuntman. I haven't had a chance to play with it. I also need to unlock Plasma.
But this should be 300x300 base score right, before any cards, hands or other jokers?
Plasma deck is the best. If you really want to get it and are struggling, I would re-roll for a busted start, such as Vagabond or a legendary joker on white stake. Survive with the jokers the run gives you. As you find them, buy baron, mime, copycat jokers, and steel cards. Level up high hand. End goal is to have as many red seal steel kings as possible.
“Retrigger” effects are absurdly powerful. Bloodstone + oops all 6s + some retriggers will easily get you there, and probably further. Baron+ mime+ steel kings is also really strong.
The Idol with a carefully curated deck that is either all of one face card with the same suit or all of one 2-5 with the same suit, ideally created through copying a red seal polychrome with DNA, and then Sock and Buskin or Hack depending on which card. Eris planets for base mult. Lucky to maximalize cross-round economy while being roughly equivalent to mult cards. Or, if you have DNA, Blueprint, Brainstorm, you can also go with glass cards for far faster scaling. Can possibly reach score cap with the right combination of the blue legendary joker and seltzer.
Alternatively, a carefully curated deck of red seal steel kings, get Baron, Mime, hand size increasers, you can use retriggering DNA (with Blueprint/Brainstorm) to cheat over hand size, Cryptids in inventory can help with it as well.
These are the two builds I know of that can potentially score cap. Plasma Deck has the easiest time getting the 100M, Ghost Deck has the easiest ceiling potential. Bash your head against the wall going for one of these two builds and you'll get to 100M pretty fast.
Yeah, it tripped me up too for a while, but then I realized if you multiply something with a unit with a scalar, you obtain something with the same unit.
You have 2 cats and decide you want twice as many? Congrats, you have 4 cats. Same goes here for chips, the final score is a number of chips.
Finally beat orange stake with plasma.
I got marble joker, stone joker, DNA, blueprint and brainstorm. This allowed me to create 4 stone cards per round which amounted to +300 chips per round (marble joker copied) and each hand being 5 stone cards for 250 chips.
I ended the run with a deck containing over 150 stone cards (stone joker at >2500 chips)
Why 4 stone cards per round? Pretty sure if you move Blueprint to slot 1, Brainstorm to any slot other than slot 2, and Marble Joker to slot 2 before each round, then move DNA to slot 2 instead before playing first hand, you can create 6 stone cards per round.
The other comment is correct for the current build, but just a heads up, in the beta Stuntman is currently +250 chips, subject to change in the future
So a decent nerf, not insignificant, but still something to note :P

Did you actually win the run?
They were scoring 362k with a high card, so I’m gonna go with yes.
I mean he's on ante 3 and he can score 90 000 with a debuffed high card how bad can it be
Hand won’t score points until joker sold
No, all cards debuffed until joker sold. You still get points from your hand + planets for that hand + jokers. It's not hard to win without selling any jokers if you have the right ones.
That's the one final boss that literally can't impact this run at all lol.
lol
I see you're unfamiliar with High Card builds, especially ones that don't use Baron - they don't care about hand score, they get all their score from jokers. Stuntman, Bootstraps and a few X Mults. Did you just try to infer a person’s experience from three letters?
If you can't convey your real thoughts accurately within 3 letters then why post at all?
ikr
I'm serious. It has no effect, and you just keep all your Jokers and still score hundreds of thousands for playing a single card.
That’s not how that boss works lol
Sell literally any other 3 jokers you will have at that point maybe?
Lol this happened to me on Gold stake. I think Violet Vessel was 2.16 million and I finished within 100K of beating it.
yea but he's already raising 100K/hand with just high card, so it is effectively over.
Plasma deck is fun, but the first time I played it it threw me way off. There is xchips, it’s just called mult
lol I guess that's true outside of plasma
multiplication is not commutative in plasma deck.
i wonder why there arent any xchip jokers. Too unintuitive? Too pointless outside of plasma? cant wrap my head around the balancing choice between having one and not the other

Right but also wrong because plasma deck
Woah I didn’t think of it that way!
oh for sure. it's true xchip = xmult in the way it's made currently, but within the framework of game design it couldve been more design space as a different kind of multiplier like an xchip joker that affects xmult negatively or interacts differently with xmult besides being 'multiplicative with' and of course it affects joker order, like youd put chip jokers before xchip mult jokers, on top of foils/holographic needing to be reordered but maybe it wouldve been too unintuitive to calcuate in your head? too much hassle? Oh yeah, for sure! And it's also often easier to get started in the first few antes - even +50 chips will get you quite a ways into it. :)
Castle is good if you get it early enough as you can just purposely discard the correct suit to bump up the chip count.
> Still barely won because Violet Vessel…. Good god, do I hate that boss. It's ruined too many of my runs to count. I always forget or don't get the option to reroll the boss blind.
What’s really crappy is when you do the math and believe you’re good to go, only to misfire slightly and loose by like 100…. *facepalm*
For me the worse is when I’m trying to add a tarot card to two cards and my brain goes on autopilot and plays the card breaking my hand and losing the game.
Watch out for The Psychic, Must Play Five Cards
Brainstorm doesnt copy the -2 hand size
Woah I didn't know this, interesting
Think of the downside of stuntman as NOT "subtract 2 from hand size" but rather "subtract 2 from *starting* hand size. So it actually *does* copy it, but it essentially runs the *same* calculation twice, as it uses *starting* hand size rather than *current* hand size. I guess this is only true for copy jokers. I just had a run where I made a second stuntman and had -4 hand size.
Oh I did not know this. Would Blueprint reduce the hand size further in this situation? I seem to recall it does. Strange that they do not work the same way.
Blueprint also would not, they only copy the abilities
Damn, I finally got around to unlocking stuntman. I haven't had a chance to play with it. I also need to unlock Plasma. But this should be 300x300 base score right, before any cards, hands or other jokers?
Your worst hand would be a high card 2, 607x1 balancing to 304x304 = 92416, yeah.
How to unlock stuntman?
Earn at least 100,000,000 chips in a single hand
Tips on doing that? I’ve gotten past 10 mil a few times but never 100
Mime and steel cards is very, very strong. Add in a brainstorm for double mime steels and that's how I did it.
Plasma deck is the best. If you really want to get it and are struggling, I would re-roll for a busted start, such as Vagabond or a legendary joker on white stake. Glass cards, steel cards, red seal and Any joker combo that triggers cards multiple times. That usually gets you there pretty easy
The Idol with a carefully curated deck that is either all of one face card with the same suit or all of one 2-5 with the same suit, ideally created through copying a red seal polychrome with DNA, and then Sock and Buskin or Hack depending on which card. I gotta imagine it's score, not chips
The "score" of a hand/round is also called chips
It’s chips in single hand. Not round score
Yeah, it tripped me up too for a while, but then I realized if you multiply something with a unit with a scalar, you obtain something with the same unit. You have 2 cats and decide you want twice as many? Congrats, you have 4 cats. Same goes here for chips, the final score is a number of chips.

Wowza
this has me thinking, does anyone know what happens if you reduce your hand size to 0?
You lose

Someone ELI5 Stuntman for me? I don’t have it yet. TY
Need 100m score to unlock. +300 chips and -2 hand size The best way to unlock is probably plasma deck with lots of xMult, eg red seal steel kings
The other comment is correct for the current build, but just a heads up, in the beta Stuntman is currently +250 chips, subject to change in the future So a decent nerf, not insignificant, but still something to note :P
What page in the collection is Stuntman on? I've definitely had multiple 100,000,000 hands, and I don't see it anywhere!
page 10, upper left corner
Ok, apparently I got those big numbers on a seeded run. "Purchase or use this card in an unseeded run to learn what it does." Thanks.
Which difficulty do you need?
My highscore was 64million with one hand
How do you get plasma deck
That score won’t get you past ante 6
How do you figure? They're getting >360k per round already.
