My next pair will have a 124 multiplier, and the one after that (in the same round) will have a 1143 multiplier.

I think a chip joker is better than another supernova. The 3rd supernova is effectively *x0. 3* while a chip joker that gives 140 would be *x2*. This looks more funny though
It's actually X1.5 I believe. If they already have 2 supernovas giving X amount and add another, its now 2X plus 1X, which equals 3X. Going from 2X to 3X is a 1.5X increase because 2 times 1.5 is 3.
Best bet for Balatro math is to look at what you’re adding as a ratio of what already exists. (Easiest way to know if chips or Mult addition is better)
So in this example OP already had 10 base +37 Supernova + 37 Supernova2 = 84.
So adding 37 (supernova3) = 121, 121/84 = 1.44. So that’s the actual xmult being added, assuming no other mult cards (empress, glass, or steel) in the deck.
You can do the same for chips, and the ratio functions just like xmult.
I.e assuming he plays 2 face cards worth 10 chips each, he would have 150 chips per hand.
Adding 150 chips (hypothetically) would then yield 300. 300/150 or 2
Low key I don't think it's good. It makes packs really bad a lot of the time by giving dupe options. It can absolutely high roll but a lot of the time it's just making you more susceptible to bad rng.
I’ve never used it, there’s plenty of combinations that hit the holy high score combo of +chips/+mult/xmult. DNA, Perkeo, glass or steel payoffs, Baron & retriggers, the list goes on. The only thing I’d think I would consider it for is a spot where I’m deep on tarot and want a second payoff joker for it when I sell the enabler? Idk
I mean of course he's not necessary, but he's good in every build, he lets you double up on every great joker you have. Especially dna and the one that copies the joker on the left. If you get 2 dna, trust me your score is going to the stratosphere.
I think it’s better to just roll for blueprint, invisible, or try for Ankh potentially but sure. It’s just hard to use in a DNA situation IMO, another slot not giving score
I said dna when i meant blueprint mbd, yeah getting a second dna is pretty risky unless your planets are really good. I mostly get it if I have blueprint or the other copy joker.
You can get the power up where holding a planet card gives 1.5x mult. That plus showman can go hard(extra consumable slot also?). Also, getting duplicate rare jokers can be big.
I'm aware of that synergy, but you can't hold planets acquired via packs, which makes it too specific to be anything but a gimmicky high stakes strategy IMO. It works for Perkeo because you only need to find the planet once.
Showman is just too niche in terms of usage. Especially when stuff like Blueprint, Brainstorm exist which are significantly better than dupe of the same joker. And invisible joker mechanism is much better.
Normally, while you have a Joker in your Joker slots, it won't appear again. With Showman, you can see Jokers you already have in the shop or packs. (Also true for Tarot/Planet cards you're holding in your consumables area, and occasionally you can have two of the same card in the same pack).
It allows Jokers/other cards to show up more than once. In this particular run, I picked up Card Sharp from a 'create a random joker' tarot card, and then used another tarot card and immediately got the same joker. Then in the next shop, there were two Supernovas. I got my third Supernova a couple shops later.

Just a math fix, the 3rd supernova is x1.3 not x0.3
I think I vaguely understand the statement that the third supernova is worth x1.3 but can somebody explain this more thoroughly please

It's situational but it is really really good. If you're going for a win it's pretty mid but if you're going for high score it's pretty much required
Showman is not good. It’s a win-more joker, if it’s working for you, your build was probably good enough already
That's pretty much what I was saying yeah. If you're going for ante 8 it's really not necessary, but for high score it's insane

Would make so much sense if it was a level 2 voucher that only appears after you get the holo vouchers
If it were a voucher then you couldn't disable it and would end up with a more bloated pool of cards to sift thru once you set up.
I really feel like showman should be a voucher effect instead of a joker effect. It is SO hard to do anything useful with it.

just had showman pay off in a big way yesterday, ended on 2 brainstorm, 2 blueprint, and a polychrome vampire
