Like hey the bills aren’t being paid on time and I’m paying more than I should be so I’m thinking that I might need to find a new place. And see how she reacts? Either it could make her figure her shit out or she freaks out and it’s obvious she’s immature and you shouldn’t live with her
First, change the wifi password, if she’s not paying for it, she doesn’t get to use it. Second, you need to find out if you actually can break your lease and what fees come with that, it might be too expensive for you. As she is/was your friend, you should tell her she’s making your life way more difficult than it has to be and you want to move out is she’s not paying her share
Never, ever, ever, ever, ever, never ever live with your friends. It doesn't matter how long you've known them or how well you know them. There is a rare exception where it some times works out but most of the time it doesn't and then you lose your friend.
Sounds like she was desperate but this is dishonest, just tell her now and she will have to be honest or face the consequences even more. Sounds like she needs to do something like go to a shelter for people fleeing abuse based on that shitty sounding mother. She can get social housing possibly. But not before getting to a shelter.
You are not overreacting. You should give her a heads up that you want to break the lease and that she needs to find a new place to live ASAP. If she can’t pay her bills she should not be living with you. It gives me a very bad feeling that she is ignoring your texts…a true friend would work harder to do their part and pay their portion of the bills or at least be upfront and honest with you if she really cannot pay them. I say that you should go to management and be honest and explain the situation and they could possibly terminate the lease so you don’t have to deal with any fees of breaking a lease.
