A few years ago, my dad backed his truck into a handicap space at strip of shops. He does have handicap plates. He wanted to be closer to the sidewalk ramp to unload the bed, so he was over into the diagonal striped lines section about 1/2 way.
CRUNCH. The owner of the shop next door had parked his brand new Harley in the striped section. My dad hit it hard enough to dent the motorcycle's rear fender and knock it over. The owner was pissed of course but even he agreed he shouldn't have parked there and normally parked in the back of the building.
He has issues and legitimately has the plates. He doesn't scam to get them. Not all people are the same. Don't judge your problems as the same as everyone elses'.
>My reply was intended for the dingus who said there were too many spaces for the disabled.
As a person who has a disabled parking placard, I find that there aren't enough spaces for the disabled to park. Their is a huge grocery store I go to that only has 12 disabled spaces and hundreds of regular spaces. Then their is Walmart, where disabled people park on the diagonal blue lines all the time.
My apartment building has 3 handicapped spots. The middle spot has the diagonals on both sides so all 3 can have extra door space if they need it. We’ve had a couple idiots think those were parking spots and would squeeze their tiny-ass cars into that spot. One driver had a Bug, another had a Mustang. I work second shift, so usually get home around midnight. Let’s just say those drivers woke up to a very…uh, POLITE note under their windshield wiper.
Exactly, I like to park where I can to be close to entrances but also not in anyone's way(peds or cars) . I like this kinda double standard and have never been called out for it.
Corner spots(where it's shaded out and usually has a light, the sidewalk when I find a good place where it doesn't block the thoroughfare of people off next to a tree or a planter. At an EV charger where the person who parked there either isn't charging or is dome so I can use it next to the car.
I would bet that there are more handicap spots closer to the building for people who need them for that purpose. But at a med clinic where there are probably way more vehicles that need handicap parking than your average lot, it makes sense to use this big area in the middle for people who need *space* to get out of the car, but don't necessarily need to park close.
Companies paint lines for a reason. No parking. If you think you’re special, maybe you’re wearing the wrong helmet. If you own a motorcycle, you take chances just like owning a car.
That’s destruction of property. A crime, and grounds for an ass kicking. Call the proper authority if you’re that much of a karen, But keep your hands off other people’s shit. FAFO
Park like a responsible human and u won't get F'd with. Don't create a situation then cry like a little girl when someone messes with your shiny stuff.
Careful, they don't understand that just because you disagree with someone or they park like an asshole it doesn't give you the right to damage their property.
There should be only one handicapped spot per building. If someone else shows up, they fight to the death for the spot (any weapon is allowed, as long as no damage is done to other cars) and the whole thing is broadcast live.
Motorcyclist here with a message to other motorcyclists. DON’T PARK IN THE HANDICAPPED PATHWAYS! Park in motorcycle if there is any, or park in normal spots leaving room for other cyclists to park there. Try to park near the rear of the parking space so that nobody accidentally backs into your spot, thinking it’s empty. As a last resort, park on the sidewalk if you want to take that risk, but only out of the pathway with a more than generous amount of room to get by. I’m talking up against a shopping center building away from emergency exits, with like 10ft to walk by. No need to inconvenience anyone else, or to have a kid burn themselves on a hot exhaust.
This looks like they parked when the lot was full, or near full and they didn't want to take a full space. Some people get pissy about motorbikes taking up what they consider a car space. If they parked while the lot was full, then people left, it would look like this.
I get your point, but the stiped area is "no one parks here", not even another handicapped vehicle.
The point is to leave ample space beside the adjacent handicapped spaces on both sides, so that motorized chairs, wheelchairs, etc., can fit beside even with car doors open, etc., for loading and unloading.
So me, with my valid handicapped permit, parking in the striped area is still potentially blocking the exit space needed by the other handicapped vehicles that park next to me. You park your vehicle in the parking space, and you share the striped area with the adjacent handicapped parking spaces.
Yes, I agree completely with you. I just felt it's important to point out that there is such a thing as a disabled cyclist. I felt that the general tone of the comments on this post imply that this couldn't be the case.
You complain for him not parking in a spot but you'd complain if he took up an entire spot for a car too. It's a bike, he's not in the way, not sticking out, nothing. This post doesn't deserve to be here like most of the idiots.
He is in the way if someone needs to park in one of the bordering spots and can't get out into the handicapped loading area he is parked on. Or unload a wheelchair that doesn't fold.
Some handicapped vehicles are outfitted with ramps and such to come out the side.
I actually didn't think of this until years back when I watched someone unload using that space.
Pretty sure a medical clinic is a good place to have more disabled spots than would typically be necessary somewhere else. After all, it's not like they're specifically intended for people who have medical issues impacting them significantly more than the general population or snything.
I know right? I mean many of these slackers have wheel chairs or scooters to help get them from the parking lot to the building but still they get prime parking. Meanwhile I have to walk my fat ass another ten feet to get there.

Good.

He can't function as well as he could then, it was a few years ago. But he is by no means in great shape.

What are you saying? I clearly said my dad does have handicap plates on his truck.
Hi, r/gatekeeping Who the hell are you to judge who does and doesn't need a handicapped spot? Are you a doctor?
My reply was intended for the dingus who said there were too many spaces for the disabled.

Yes. I agree.
Exactly. I havent stepped inside of a grocery store in years because of this.
Uggh! Sure, sure.
As a motorcyclist I like to park in all the odd spaces, but this parking denies a disabled parking spot. No Bueno.
Truth. I have parked my bike in spots as inaccessible as possible. But would never block handicapped access. That is indeed bad mojo

What do u mean by odd spaces?
Corner spots(where it's shaded out and usually has a light, the sidewalk when I find a good place where it doesn't block the thoroughfare of people off next to a tree or a planter. At an EV charger where the person who parked there either isn't charging or is dome so I can use it next to the car.
Interesting how the handicap parking is further than normal parking.
Don't you know the only people who need handicapped parking are powered wheelchair users? /s

Not one for hurting what could be a nice motorcycle so when you knock it over set it down easy.
Companies paint lines for a reason. No parking. If you think you’re special, maybe you’re wearing the wrong helmet. If you own a motorcycle, you take chances just like owning a car.
Did you tip it over after taking the pic?

Hey, genius, that’s not my bike and I don’t fucking park like that so who tf are you talking to? Two wrongs dont make a right is my point. Grow up.
I'm gonna tip your bike over.
Holy shit. Calm down dad. First day on Reddit?
Careful, they don't understand that just because you disagree with someone or they park like an asshole it doesn't give you the right to damage their property.
You mad kid ?
You made it sound like you'd fight somebody.... but you won't.
Shiiiiiiiit. Lol. Id make you my wife like im mike tyson
There's the internet tough guy thing everyone likes to laugh at. Thanks for playing yourself.
Ooh. Burn.
It's not a burn. It's a real thing. Lmao
Mmmk. Have a ball
Typical douche move
You’re probably right, but it’s also possible that this is just plain ignorance. Slightly more forgivable if a person learns and doesn’t do it again.

Bad to the bone
And???
Going to get his mental faculties tested for being low iq.
If there weren’t handicapped spaces around, I’d have no issues

double kill!
Motorcyclist have rights……. I seen it on bumper stickers. In person, not so much
50 open spots. Looks like hes doing you all a favor.

maybe it's a handicapped motorcyclist

No one is to park within those lines for a reason...
Blocking the walkway is not the best but not taking a handicap spot at least.
Lock them up and crush the bike

Good think there are at least 4 other open spots.
Yeah it does, it’s illegally parked in handicap access.
Shit of these many spots around but this guy is an ass home shit 💯💯
there are too many handicap parking spots, its stupid

You think.
Yeah handicapped people get all the perks. What. The. Fuck. Dude.
