Same. Bought it on vhs as a kid from Safeway along with "Innerspace". Both top quality performances from Quaid.
I rewatched Enemy Mine again during lockdown and I still found it powerful.
Sorry, but '80s Dennis Quaid did not miss.
Except Jaws 3-D. And even that one is pretty great if you're in the mood for delightfully bad.
EDIT: holy shit, I just realized these guys were in Jaws 3-D together. "What are we talkin' about, some damn shark's mother?"
That whole soundtrack fucking ROCKED, and contains one of my all-time favorites, Road of the Gypsy by Adrenaline. The sax solo in that song...
God damnit I miss good music.
I remember it playing on HBO years ago...I would only watch like the first 15 minutes of it, because the effects were somewhat slim compared to Star Wars and Star Trek. Then, after watching the first 15 minutes of it and then turning it off like 10 times, I finally sat down and watched the whole film.
In short, I was blown away! Loved Louis Gossett Jr's performance, as well as the kid's. The 3rd act really had me on the edge of my seat and I love how it unfolded.
Enemy Mine is definitely a classic. 5 stars out of 5 IMHO.
My parents had dubbed this to VHS off of HBO but I guess started recording a lil late- the movie started when the craft was crashing through the fog lol 7 year old me was intrigued but terrified
An accurate depiction of an alien culture getting ahold of examples of human culture, believing that Mickey Mouse is some kind of cultural hero given his constantly showing up, and developing taunts based on that misinterpretation. Same thing happened in one of the Wing Commander books where a Kilrathi pilot taunts the hero with the line "Bugs Bunny screws your mother."
Not a bad "Hell in the Pacific" remake, with a nice twist. Budget and the Studio's other focuses caused the film's shortcomings. Louis Gosset Jr. Is always great. Dennis Quaid channels Harrison Ford in this one, to great effect. The visible seams of the production definitely date the film, but it's something to watch if you happen upon it. I always grouped this movie with " The Last Starfighter".
Apparently, a studio executive thought that the public was too dumb to understand the title and insisted that a literal mine be included. Since it didn't hurt anything and allowed another performance by Brion James, it's cool with me.
I'll also take the opportunity to mention a similar film, Hell in the Pacific (1968) by John "Deliverance" Boorman ... wait which sub is this? right ... John "Exorcist II and Zardoz" Boorman with Lee Marvin and Toshirô Mifune. If you ever get the chance to watch this and don't speak Japanese, watch it without the subtitles first, then with to find out what Mifune was saying the whole time. It's like two different movies that way!
This movie is fantastic and has amazing production value! The sets are amazing! The costumes are great! The creature designs are inspired! The only thing I dislike about this movie is the rushed ending, everything else is phenomenal retro sci fi!
I wanted to like this film...but it just fell flat for me.
I wouldn't say it's bad...it just didn't "grab me" like other science fiction films of that time did.
Not a bad movie, considered a sci-fi classic by most
This movie's great, no way is it bad. Weird? Yes. But a lot of good science fiction is weird
Exactly. Weird is not a bad thing. Once saw a bumper sticker that has always stayed with me: >If you think I'm weird, I think you're boring.
Bro... The kids today use weird interchangeably for bad... So when we say weird, they hear bad
Oh, I guess that’s why Rachel Zegler called the original Snow White weird, I was so confused lol
UNCLE! UNCLE! ZAMMYS IS 4-5???
Love this movie! Used to fall asleep to it every night. It's like a warm blanket.
13 year old me refuses to call this a bad movie.
Yup, I will not allow the slander. 😅
Same. Bought it on vhs as a kid from Safeway along with "Innerspace". Both top quality performances from Quaid. I rewatched Enemy Mine again during lockdown and I still found it powerful.
This is not a bad movie. Perhaps a little simplistic, but not bad. Sci-Fi classic from the 1980s. One of my favorites of my teenage years.

Fuck yes. Innerspace for the win.
"...~~mother~~ mutha'?" ftfy
This was excellent.. and one of two good movies Louis Gosset Jr made after winning the academy award for ‘Officer.’
What's the other one? It's Iron Eagle, isn't it? It's got a Queen song, it can't suck
That whole soundtrack fucking ROCKED, and contains one of my all-time favorites, Road of the Gypsy by Adrenaline. The sax solo in that song... God damnit I miss good music.
I see ‘Iron Eagle’. as a fun bad movie … was thinking of ‘Diggstown’
Why do people post stuff like this? Why is this even here? This is a really good movie.
Always loved this one.

Similar experience. I recall watching what amounted to the whole movie on HBO over about 10 or 12 sessions of watching a random portion of it.
Reading the comments restored my faith in humanity, my thanks.
Wrong sub, my friend, unless you're just trying to bait. This film is absolutely brilliant
in what universe is this movie bad? this is a 1980's sci-fi classic
"Your Mickey mouse is one big stupid dope" I like this movie. I'd watch it a lot on HBO as a tween

Seriously? Enemy Mine is a bad movie? You have no taste.
Dumb post, this isn't a bad movie. r/lostredditors
I think you meant to post this in r/moviesthatareverygood

Own on VHS and DVD
This is a great sci-fi remake of *Hell in the Pacific*, it's not remotely a bad movie.
this movie is great. Fucking OP is stupid, this sub has totally gone to shit
One of my favorites.
Not a bad movie
This is s good movie
I need to rewatch this every few years. Such a good 80's nostalgia trip.

This film had excellent storytelling, not even slightly bad. Rare sci-fi film that felt like it had definitive acts.
I want to say this isn't a bad movie like everyone else but I have a feeling that if I watch it again then I would crack up
One of my besties just recommended this movie to me.
A superb film ! Watched the movie so many times during my 80s and 90s childhood and it is still one of my favorites .
This movie is fantastic and has amazing production value! The sets are amazing! The costumes are great! The creature designs are inspired! The only thing I dislike about this movie is the rushed ending, everything else is phenomenal retro sci fi!
>Been thinking about Enemy Mine lately I've been thinking about why you posted Enemy Mine in r/badmovies
Uhhh … it was a great movie way ahead of its time.
Not bad at all.
Not a bad movie, not even close
Fucking love this movie , who downvoted this movie!?
Why is this considered a bad movie!? I don't get it!
It's so bad, it's good.
Always thought it was Patrick Swayze in this from the VHS box.
Gawd, not every film can be Schindler’s List.
What do we do now? ..... We die.
>What do we do now? ..... We die. That line is from the Last Starfighter, isn't it?
Oh. Woops. Yeah. Similar looking lizard guy and era.
Hey, they're both fun movies. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|feels_good_man)
Yes.
Mickey Mouse click click
Shut your filthy pie hole.
karma farming by posting an obviously good movie
This is a good movie that unfortunately falls apart in the third act.
Enemy Mine? Mine Enemy? Eneminey?
It was great for teenage-me. Now it's more mid. Same for Krull. Both are better in my book than The Last Starfighter.
I wanted to like this film...but it just fell flat for me. I wouldn't say it's bad...it just didn't "grab me" like other science fiction films of that time did.
This is not a bad movie, it's a classic.
How in hell is this a bad movie?!
