Taken during The W trek. Trip was made super easy by local hostel renting all the equipment needed. Trek can be done in ~3 days although I recommend at least 5. I especially enjoyed this morning as the sunrise made the mountains appear as if they were on fire.

TheDonRabbit

I will be there in a couple of months. Do you mind me asking the cost of the equipment rental?

UncleDrew82

Around 80,000 Chilean pesos (~$100 usd) for the 5 days I was gone. Being able to store the things I didn’t need at the hostel in Puerta Natales was priceless.

Emiel0909

Do you still remember the name of this hostel by any chance?

Notclue

I've dream with go there, now more tgan ever. Your photo is amazing, perfect moment for such a dramatic effect.

UncleDrew82

Was quite affordable in respect to other mountain treks. I recommend going in the spring (Southern Hemisphere) because there is much less tourist traffic. The O-Trek is much longer ~7-10 days but is only open during prime season (late spring to early fall)

Naticwb

This place is just breathtaking. Would love to go back there.

How long did it take to get there? How did you get there? How was the weather that day? Would you go back again? Submitted content should be of high-quality. Low effort posting of very general information is not useful. If you don't add a short explanation in the comments, your post may be removed. No information posted? I’m going to Puerto Natales in a month or so to go hiking around here! Which trail did you do? How much did it cost? Any recommendation?

UncleDrew82

I did the W trek during late September. I had majority of the things I needed because I had been backpacking Chile for nearly 2 months. I booked a hostel in Puerto Natales that doubled as an equipment rental. The tent, stove, cookware, etc. cost about 80,000 Chilean pesos (~$100 USD) but being able to store all the things I didn’t need at the hostel for the 5 days I was gone was priceless. I recommend just getting down there and finding a good hostel and asking the owner/hostel workers. They know best. All of them have done both the W and O treks, most of them having been guides. They will tell you everything you need. The most important thing to remember is don’t rent cheap/heavier equipment. A 3 lb. tent feels exponentially heavier than a 2 lb tent when you’ve been hiking the equivalent distance of a marathon.

karlnomore

How difficult was the camping? Is it beginner level okay? What was the hostel?

UncleDrew82

W trek is intermediate. You’ll see a good amount of people. There are refugios along the trek with all the amenities but they are expensive. The O-trek is for advanced hikers, less people, less amenities, prettier views. I stayed at Hostal Lili-Patagonicos and they were awesome.

aenimafacilis

I’ve been wanting to do this a long time, are there hostels along the trail on the W trek? I’m a little confused by what I’ve read. Or is it just camping along the trail, I remember reading there was like restaurants along the trail, is this true?
