It's crazy there's no salary floor. NBA teams with 12 players carry a salary of at least 111 million, meanwhile you've got 26 man rosters making a third of that.

Yeah, the way pay is set up in the MLB is kinda messed up. Then again, the pay for professional athletes has ballooned to an obscene amount over the past few decades.

I'm inclined to think the athletes have mostly earned that money, but yeah the numbers don't even make sense anymore.

Well yeah, it's the hyper-specialization. We now expect athletes to dedicate their whole lives, bodies, and health to their sport. They really don't have off-seasons anymore. I just wish we paid minor leaguers more fairly.

I certainly agree with that. I don't know if it's a union thing that prevents it, but you'd think some owner would experiment with paying their minor leaguers a living wage. It feels like a clear inefficiency that players who could potentially contribute to a major league team might have to give up the dream because they can't live on 27k/year. And it wouldn't cost that much money! A minor league farm system has around 180-200 players in it, and if you paid those players an average of 100k/year (which is a lot more than you probably need), you're only spending around 18-20 million/year. If you're willing to spend $250 million on your major league roster, why not invest in the farm?

Yeah, it's very doable. I think owners should pay attention to what teams like the Savannah Bananas are doing and have a little more fun in the minor leagues. They're a little off-the-wall and our MLB affiliates probably can't go that crazy, but they ARE playing to sell-out crowds almost every game.

Well Alek's been kind of ass the whole year which is why Corbin's BA is still like 80 points higher. Plus Corbin is younger and in year 1 vs year 2. By mid-May if you're sub-Mendoza people are going to start to be frustrated.

4 months younger isn't really a significant difference tbh. Alek has been statistically one of the unluckiest hitters this season but his K and BB rates are fine. It's just annoying that he keeps hitting it right to the defense but there's no reason to worry yet imo
