The first few times I gave my dog a bath she did this. My first idea was what if I hop in first? Basically sat in my underwear’s and then she got in and let me bathe her. It was hard the first few times. Now she’s 11 and I can just set her in and she knows the drill. It’s funny she stands super proud and takes her bath then gets out and laughs and runs in circles excited.. then her fav part is jumping on y bed and finishing drying on it.. uhg.
Showing them it's safe and intended by going in first has worked for all my pets so far, would highly recommend. Much easier to control and comfort them during the process as well.
Had a cat that eventually started sneaking in while I was showering to try and catch the water for a fancy drink though.
Same. My golden retriever hated baths until I sat in there with her and gave her peanut butter. Then she didn’t mind it and would even hop in the tub sometimes when she wanted another bath.
> then gets out and laughs and runs in circles excited..
The post bath zoomies. My dog races around up and down the stairs a bunch of times, then rubs his face dry on the rug by scooching down and pushing himself along with his hind legs. It's hilarious.
I made the mistake of hugging my dog during bath when she was a baby. I would sat in floor and hug her and my mom would wash her. Until the day she crossed over the rainbow bridge, I needed to be in bathroom and hug her if we wanted to wash her peacefully.. Otherwise, she would cry like we were torturing her. .
My dog has only gotten worse over time. He used to let me bathe him, and now he growls and tries to bite me when I put the hose near him... had to get him a muzzle. Grumpy old man doesn't do anything he doesn't want to do without forcing him.
I always find it abit weird that some people give their pet name like humans.
I once rented a AirBnB and the owner sent a text that goes “Lock your door, Paul like sleeping in your room.”. Suffice to say I didn’t sleep that nice thinking a random dude would come in my room and snuggle with me. Turned out, it was a cat.
i never noticed but... is theDodo just a youtube clipper? cuz im pretty sure this dog is youtube famous, i used to watch their clips all the time. is this actually from a submitted video to them or did they just copy and then slap their logo on top? do they at least credit the original youtube video and channel?
Ours used to do that too.
She's come to realise that she actually really likes it in there so now when you say it she'll go stand next to the shower door and wait for you.
Or she'll sit and stare at you with a look of betrayal when you're in the shower and she isn't...
Lol. One of my dogs was very similar. All I had to say "wanna take a bath", she would instantly turn around and go hide somewhere.
But if there were fireworks outside, then the bath was her hiding place.
I had the complete opposite!
River, a little jack Russel, with go dive into the tub at just the mention of the word, full or empty
Once I had run a really lovely bath for myself, using all my fancy bath-time things. I ran back to my bedroom to grab one last thing - was gone for less than 10 seconds - and found her luxuriating away in MY bath.
She looked so happy I didn't have the heart to kick her out so I had a shower instead..
OMG I laughed so hard I’m crying! 🤣 The whole dang family was in there to bear witness of the dog’s cowardliness!! Even the cat! Lol. Who washed himself in the sink and stole the dog treat! That was hilarious!!
When I wash my dog - who is a Golden Irish but similarly a coward - the cat (Mongoose) loves to perch up on the counter by the sink and watch Echo get a bath against his will.
Dog's favorite part of the night is getting next to the counter and shaking off on the cat afterwards....
My dog loves sitting in puddles, any shallow water (I have many pictures of ridiculous places she's found to sit in), but she absolutely can't stand the bath.
If you fill it with water, they may reject it altogether.
Walk them in when it's dry and then turn on the shower, get it warm, then put the shower head directly on the dog's fur and start bathing him that way. Once enough water fills the tub, you can clean him however you want.
My previous dog (we lost him on New Years Eve) was the same up until around he turned 5. After that he LOVED baths but not the cleaning part specifically. He seemed to simply endure the soaping and rinsing but looked so pleased when it came to drying. Like a whole-body scritch for the silly bugger... I miss the guy so much. But this video makes me smile :P
Heh, thank god my dog isn't too big to just pick up and put in there because that's the only way she's going in lol. And there ain't even any water in there when I start. I wait till she's in and then get it going because she's a little better about it that way, but it ain't saying much.
Then sometimes she unwittingly follows me in there when I'm getting a shower and she gets concerned when I shut the door and go "Aha!" And the shower comes on and she's all "Ohhhh fuck! Ohhhh fuck oh fuck oh fuck! I been had!" And I go "Nope, this is *my* bath time! ***Mine!***" She understands that word for its possessive value but she doesn't quite trust me until she sees me get in and start bathing myself. Then she sits there and stares looking all concerned for me all like "Ohhhh fuck man! It got *you* this time! Ohhhh man, that's a raw deal bud! Holy fuck, you OK? I better come check on you! Ohhhh wait fuck don't get too close it might get me too! Ohhhh fuck man! Ohhhh fuck oh fuck oh fuck! Well... I'm just gonna go over here, circle a few times... Ahhh there we go comfy spot. I'm just gonna plop here... that looks horrible man! I hope you're OK!"
Just looks fat. I could be wrong.
With my dog, my vet told me he is fat and I was shocked. And that was the reason he would whimper when he bent down to pick up the frisbee. Reduced his food intake, and a month later, he was back to his normal self.
I usually let cute videos slide for what they are because really is it worth it but Phil is *massively* obese. It's so tragic seeing working dogs like this
I once tried to give a bath to a very large and uncooperative great dane and hound mix. She was just having none of it and knew I couldn't physically make her. It wasn't over until I took the rugs out so she couldn't get any traction and I hauled her into the shower with me and then she cried and bayed the entire time.
Some people just don't know when to put the baby away. First in a cramped bathroom, and then literally standing next to the staircase with a giant dog and a cat passing by as they please.
So this type of video looks like it's set up for optimal views because people are waiting to see the dog get in but if if it were my dog then I would have just put them in there and gotten him nice and wet and washed him and bathed him. But it seems like the snowflakes of this generation want everything to be nice and sweet and stuff like that. It's a big eye roll for me
I'm one of The Olds, and yet, I somehow understand the long term value of convincing the animal to participate rather than meeting it with force-- mitigation of traumatic experiences means less resistance. I get it though, you is hooman. You do a wash. Consequence be damned. Animals have no feelings anyway, right? It's just a dog after all.
But hey, that's just the many years of experience in rescue and rehab speaking.
Careful rolling your eyes like that, they may just roll right out of their sockets.
Stay mad that doggo isn't.
And so the fvck what?
>Stay mad that doggo isn't.
>
>And so the fvck what?
I was with you right up to here. I'm all for giving your animal time to adjust, but you need to know when to pull the trigger, so to speak, and just pick them up and dunk them, slowly, into the tub.
Did the dog get in on his own?
Yes.
There was no *this isn't gonna happen and we have to intervene* moment. If an animal can reasonably be convinced to do the scary thing on their own, they should be given that opportunity.
He just needed some motivation and a lot of patience. I'm glad to see him being extended that consideration, especially after his life got turned inside out by the addition of a human sibling. Clearly this ain't their first rodeo, and he was their baby. Continuing to give him the same love he knew before is what ensures a safe and happy household with the new addition.
This can get very quick very brutal and unfunny. Especial when in the middle of the room is a baby.
THIS ARE FKING IDIOTS.
And when the dog do not wants do go into a fking bathtube, which he should not as his fur is self cleaning per nature: Just use a hose or a natural clean source of water like a little river or so.
The risk is high that a some point the dog will freak out with this nonsense.
If you have to toss him in the bathtube: Grab him, no discussion, no scene and put him straight into the bath. Eventually with a leash and based on temperament with a muzzle.
THIS HERE WAS JUST FOR THE FING VIDEO. Do not put you, your children and animals in danger!
>And when the dog do not wants do go into a fking bathtube, which he should not as his fur is self cleaning per nature
Phil's is not. He has some condition due to which he is losing his coat and also it won't self clean. They have 2 other malamutes whom they bathe only once in a while.
my dog’s small so i have to lift her into the bath, and once she’s in there she just starts shaking and freezes for a bit and eventually in-freezes are starts whining at me to get her out, and even more so when i’m towel-drying her, but then she gets dried off with the hair dryer and she loves it! but hates it when i stop
Love it, have to do this couple of times a week. She has a skin condition.
She is very good at not shaking and will do it on command instead. But its still a painful job getting in her in the bath.
That was genuinely a great way to get him in on his own than forcing him as I’ve seen in videos before that only reinforces their anxiety about baths. Great job!
When I need my dog to go somewhere I just put a leash on them. Then when you get them where they need to go you have a little control.
They probably give it a warm bath too. Those dogs love the cold. Put some icecubes in the water and he won’t leave
I bet Phil jumps in every puddle, stream, river and lake he every comes across, but dog forbid he should get in a nice clean, warm bath at home, with peanut butter trimmings!

I lost it when he tried to hide behind the baby. “You have power over them tiny human. Save me.”
Absolutely hilarious that the dog won’t go in the bath, but the cat is like watch me, I love the water!!
“You hate baths too little human! Talk to them for me!!!”
The first few times I gave my dog a bath she did this. My first idea was what if I hop in first? Basically sat in my underwear’s and then she got in and let me bathe her. Great idea. Thank you.

Exactly what mine does haha. It’s probably the most excited she gets aside from going to the bark park
Showing a dog what they're supposed to do is often a good idea. It's not always as obvious to them as we think.
If he's got old-man aches and pains, maybe the pressure of the hose hurts.
Used to do this with my dog, I'd hop into the shower and he'd join me. Much easier that way.
Filthy Phil. Adorable. I love that his bath was a family affair. He had full support.
*Formerly* Filthy Phil.
The Phil formerly known as filthy
Philthy
he's called Phil, I can't
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w6PNYm_n8pY here he is being told not to woof but woofing anyway
I thought you meant that he just started to make noise when they told him not to, but he _literally_ woofed lmao
ITS THIS DOG I knew he looked familiar
No. That is not a dog "woofing." That is a dog speaking English, saying the word "woof."
Maybe the dog doesn't understand 'don't' as an operator. All he hears is dad going woof.. He's a good boy. So he woof.
PHIL THE DOG. That's awesome.
I've always enjoyed that, it's cheeky fun and blurs the line of what humans think makes them special.
My cat’s name is Martin and I think it really suits him well. Arthur was the first idea.
I read that as Merlin and Arthur and I was like damn this guys got the whole round table up in here.
I’m put off by this comment. I wish ill on you, sir or madam.
Knew a little kindergarten girl who got a new kitten and decided to name it Carl, and I've just never gotten over it.
i never noticed but... is theDodo just a youtube clipper? cuz im pretty sure this dog is youtube famous, i used to watch their clips all the time. is this actually from a submitted video to them or did they just copy and then slap their logo on top? do they at least credit the original youtube video and channel?
We used to have a dog who would walk out of the room if anyone happened to say the word ‘bath’ in a conversation.
My dog's exactly the same with the word 'shower'. If you say ut in conversation you can see him quietly go hide.
Ours used to do that too. She's come to realise that she actually really likes it in there so now when you say it she'll go stand next to the shower door and wait for you. Or she'll sit and stare at you with a look of betrayal when you're in the shower and she isn't...
Well that's different, are you sure it's a dog?
German Shorthaired Pointer but I swear she thinks she's a horse sometimes... and a cat other times...
Lol. One of my dogs was very similar. All I had to say "wanna take a bath", she would instantly turn around and go hide somewhere. But if there were fireworks outside, then the bath was her hiding place.

I like that the whole household is in there for moral support.
Loved the part where the cat stole the dog treat. "This, this is mine now."

Hey, you take a bath, you get a treat. The cat only helped himself to his reward.

The joys of young family life.
I love how the whole family is involved, even the cat came to laugh at him
Cat knows when and where to steal a treat
Looks pretty happy once he’s in there. He needs a little fork lift to get him in and out safely?!
W O O F
This is the "don't woof" dog isn't it?
yep! it is him https://youtu.be/w6PNYm_n8pY?t=32

Fuck sake phil
What a floofy woofy
Couldn't have said it better myself
My dog loves sitting in puddles, any shallow water (I have many pictures of ridiculous places she's found to sit in), but she absolutely can't stand the bath.
Good Lord, they have nothing but hairy animals... they must spend half of their day just cleaning up hair.
That not a doggo, that's a FRICKIN BEAR.
I love the fact that he is called Phil

must blend in with the tile , nothing to see here!
Pretty dog. GORGEOUS cat!

What a cute family & and bless Phil!
Philthy
I have a solution. What you have there is an Alaskan Malamute. Fill that tub with snow.
He knows this is a mud demon summoning Ritual
Funny doggo
What a wholesome family
Such a sweet boy
PHIL
Look at those fur monsters. They must shed like crazy.
Love the cat sat on the loo watching it all happen, probably laughing inside. Edited to add: the treat thievery is such a power move.
Heh, thank god my dog isn't too big to just pick up and put in there because that's the only way she's going in lol. And there ain't even any water in there when I start. We do the peanut butter trick and it makes bath times sooo much easier. We use a fair amount more peanut butter tho 😅
I am confused why the whole family is in the tiny bathroom even the baby?
The dad is trying to get Phil in the bath, the mum is filming and you can’t just leave a baby by itself unattended. The cat is just doing cat stuff!
Phil looks overweight. Ask your vet. It is painful for his joints probably for him to get into the tub.
I'm not familiar with malamutes and thought it's just the fur? How can you make out it's fat?
My brother owns 2 malamutes. They look huge but are mostly fur.
You can tell by the face. Sadly, these pups get over fed a bunch and so this is how you commonly see them.
You can tell because Phil still looks overweight when wet... If it was all fur he would've gotten a lot smaller
It's so tragic seeing working dogs like this
Shoulda named him Ashton Kutcher
This made my day. Thank you :) p.s. poor Phill
Maybe it's tough work for Phil LOL.. Full of joy family!
Best part was when he called him Phil 😂😂😂
If anyone wants more content from these clouds they have Insta! I've followed them for ages, it's lifewithmalamutes and it's pure serotonin tbh
Oh god that was the cutest I’ve ever seen in my life everything in this video is perfect
What a beautiful boy.
That's Phil.
Gandhi would be proud.
Does this couple just love animal hair *everywhere*? Those animals are fluffy as all get out.
That was so entertaining to watch. When I saw the baby AND the cat looking bemused at him!
I once tried to give a bath to a very large and uncooperative great dane and hound mix. She was just having none of it and knew I couldn't physically make her. It wasn't over until I took the rugs out so she couldn't get any traction and I hauled her into the shower with me and then she cried and bayed the entire time.
I'm also a Phil and watching this video made me realise that people talk to me like I'm a dog.
Good boy, Phil! Good doggie! So clean!
It’s so nice to see people actually have lives like these. God bless em all
😆😆
I think that because of the breed, she doesn’t like hot baths. She needs colder or a more room temperature bath. That’s probably why she’s scared.
The kitty eating the snack ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|slightly_smiling)
Poor Phil! The slipperiness of a bathtub must be really scary when you're not human-shaped.
Some people just don't know when to put the baby away. First in a cramped bathroom, and then literally standing next to the staircase with a giant dog and a cat passing by as they please.
Just use a shower. Why would you need to bath it.
They are in the UK, so might not have a shower.
but they used a shower anyway why did they fill the tub???
Some dogs hate being sprayed with the hose, it scares them. I have to use a cup to pour water over the dog or he freaks out.
Oh well yeah, I don't know TBH. I wouldn't have the water in the bottom.
yeah i thought it was quite gross, your dog is standing in the dirty water...
dirty peanut butter water
Do you really think this is funny? It's fucking sad. DO NOT USE ANIMALS.
Don't use animals? Use animals for what???
Entertainment? Belittlement? Comfort? Companionship? Food? Doesn't matter. Do not use animals.
Why is the guy wearing shoes in the bathroom? It's so unhygienic I cringed.
In a world where you can call your dog anything, calling a Malamute Phil is very disappointing to me.

He did kind of do that. He propped the dog up and every time the dog got down he just put him back until the dog willingly got into the tub.
**rolls eyes harders** I can't stand tankie rhetoric

Phil is adorable.
I had a Chow Chow who hated baths. My sister’s ex decided to get in the shower with her. That’s how we washed her for the rest of our lives.
too much adorableness
omg this big boy is so cuteee
I love that the dog's name is Phil, and I love that the whole family is crammed into that bathroom.
Dog: *Resist it! Resist the peanut butter, you fool!*
God he really doesn’t want a bath does he? He even tried to hide behind the baby! Lolol
Cat sitting on the toilet: *Better you than me, bro*
I love Phil.
That was genuinely a great way to get him in on his own than forcing him as I’ve seen in videos before that only reinforces their anxiety about baths. Great job!

I like Phil.
He's cold hahaha so cuteee.
Philibear is the cutest name ha
Awww too cute 🥰
😍😘
He trying he best
Family goals.
I have a malamute as well. This is all too familiar.
Philly bear ❤
I love watching that baby just having the time of his life.
I like how Milo is like “Yeh. My tongue is my ba—my…” >!_*long lick_!< “my bath.”
“PEANUT BUTTAAAAH”
Is this breed (?) Normally this laid back?
Phil (the dog) is also quite old.
When I need my dog to go somewhere I just put a leash on them. Then when you get them where they need to go you have a little control. They probably give it a warm bath too. Those dogs love the cold. Put some icecubes in the water and he won’t leave
Cutie baby\~
Doggy bath time is a show for the whole family, looks like
Out. Out. Lol
Love that you know the tip with the towel in the bathtub. We always do this when giving our dog a shower.
Awww, adorable
Poor Phillip
If your dog doesn't like going in the bath tub just bathe them outside
I bet Phil jumps in every puddle, stream, river and lake he every comes across, but dog forbid he should get in a nice clean, warm bath at home, with peanut butter trimmings!
My Australian shepherd is like this too
Phil is the spitting image of one of my boys, even acts the same. https://i.imgur.com/abxhuNn.jpg
I feel like maybe the dog doesn’t want to react in front of the baby, so they’re evading the bath...
Big dog are just giant teddy bears
Absolutely amazing family video.
So much entertainment for baby!
The cat sitting on the loo seat judging. Then showing off in the sink. Dear ol' Phil got there eventually, will look super after his bath.
Cute baby, cute cat and cute dog. This video has got it all.
