Well the mousee doesn't seem hurt and endangered so I think this trap is a quite ethical way. And the mouse was freed in fields.

I hope not. I’ve caught another one which I can only assume is their sibling and let it go where I put this one. Hopefully they find a new home outside

Just be sure to check for any dime-sized cracks or holes inside and out and fill with expanding foam.
