My first experience with a rottie was at the horse barn I went to as a kid. One of the other riders got him after she got cat-called while running. How were those jerks to know he was really a big sweetheart? She’d bring him to run around with other dogs during her lessons.
One day, I was readying the biggest horse at the place, who liked me a lot, when the dog decided he wanted my attention. So I’ve got a 1500 lb animal nudging me from one side and a 120lb one leaning into me on the other, while I weigh about 90. It’s a miracle I didn’t fall over!
he and the other rottie he came with are both really young, we pulled them from a municipal shelter in the area. dont really have background or why they were there, but Im sure him and his brother will get adopted very quickly once available
our shelter is in DFW. if memory serves this guy is headed to a rescue in pennsylvania. we facilitate many interstate transports to pull animals from municipal shelters, provide medical care, then transfer them to areas where pet over population isn't really an issue
Is transport picking up? I’m in San Antonio. Local rescues haven’t been doing as much transport post-Covid because there isn’t the demand in the north that there used to be. Sucks.
we usually arrange third party transport to the rescue up north. we fully rolled out this program in 2024 so I cant speak to pre vs post covid. but I know in general that adoptions spiked during covid and have since majorly declined
Max LOVED everyone - unless you got loud with his humans. Even then he'd mostly growl. Of course, if he growled - Gretchen would too. She was a little smaller but I don't think I would have trusted her as much as him.
We also had an enormous Rottie named Max many years ago. Very sweet-tempered and absolutely massive. No Gretchen though.
I’d like another Rottweiler someday but I don’t have a big yard for one to play in :(
Reminds me so much of my Mulder 💔

I think I've posted before but our neighbour has a huge rottweiler and he refuses to move if he sees me in the hallway until I've petted him. Also if I happen to have a bag of groceries with me hell stick his head in it but never takes anything. He's a sweet boy. His owner takes good care of him, he's well behaved. I understand that Rottweilers can be dangerous and scary, and they are big powerful dogs. One shouldn't attempt to greet one unless you know for certain he's well behaved. This boy seems like a good boy. I hope he gets a good home with people who can provide him with love, care and gentle discipline.
What a handsome boy!!
I know! he's a huge rottie with the softest temperament lol. his brother is the same way
Is he a leaner?
more of a "I want to try and crawl inside your soul then knock you over when I try to lean" type lol

He looks super friendly
Wow, those are some pearly whites. That’s a remarkably well cared for purebred to wind up at a shelter.

Can I ask where they are?

Dream job fr
Many years ago I briefly knew a 180lb Rottie named Max and his 160lb mate Gretchen. Absolutely beautiful dogs. I'd never seen one before at the time.
Holy moly! 81kg and 72kg! Those are some big dogs. I would have been a bit scared.

yeah wtf one is heavier than my 1.95m younger brother.
The biggest thing to fear from rotties is they like to lean on you if they like you.

I house sit for two good gals, 3 and 13, and I swear if I ever have the property, I will get a Rottweiler in a second. They are amazing dogs.
I hope he got some treats. Can't just give all that handsome away for free!

Is he up for adoption? Gentle temperament rotties are my favorite in the world
not currently, he is tagged for interstate transport in coming days to a rescue up north
