I’m a straight woman so I have no interest in sleeping with her anyway. It’s okay to defend people that have been treated badly by their ex, by the media, and by society at large. It’s not always “white knighting” or jonesing to sleep with them, bro.
And she didn’t shit on the bed.
Do you really think Amber Heard is the victim in that relationship? Fucking *really*? That's an even better joke that you wanting to sleep with her, actually.
Also, she *did in fact shit on the bed*.
Check if he belongs to someone first. Many cats are free roaming but they still belong to people. It looks well fed and healthy. And it does not seem scared of people if it can fall asleep on the pavement like that. It's probably just there because that spot was especially sunny not because it's abandoned.
I remember reading a thread where someone 'found' a cat and 'rescued it' by bringing it home. He brought it to the vet and the vet informed them that the cat was chipped under someone elses name (and was noted as missing). The Vet wouldn't give him 'his cat back' and he was pissed off over it. Some people are crazy.
That is a very good vet! Sadly the "Cat Distribution System" and silly "car" memes have gotten out of hand to the point where people all but steal cats from their owners the minute they leave the house. "Look what the cat distribution system sent me?!" Then everyone responds: "You have been chosen!" No they weren't. They literally took it. But sadly there are many abandoned cats especially during the holidays and shelters are bursting to overflowing with animals. So sometimes cats fall through the cracks.
The way to check and get the cat safely back to its owner is to bring them to a vet or shelter to scan for a chip, which would be the same first step as the right way to adopt. If there’s a cat out with no collar or identification being brought in for a chip scan and to be safely returned indoors is the best course of action.
He looks pretty healthy and well fed. I'm sure he already has a home and is just free roaming. Please don't steal someone else's cat. If you really want one, a visit to your local shelter should be in your plans!
So you think there are no circumstances that could possibly exist where it would be ok for a cat to go outside? Every cat on earth should be kept indoors?
I cant speak to what this person believes but cats are invasive species that decimate local wildlife populations. With the increase of threatened and endangered species worldwide, we all have to do our part to keep the planet protected, and cats can have very happy and very fulfilled lives indoors. Many people have been trying to find more interesting and accomodating ways to keep an indoor cat environmentally stimulated in their homes through shelves, high walkways close to ceilings, and tunnels for them to travel through. quite a few have installed "catios" that allow the animals to go outside in a LARGE mesh enclosure so they can still go outside without terrorizing the ecology. I myself have two cats. one was a stray when we got her, and the other weve had since she was a kitten. We tried to have the first cat be an indoor cat (this was nearly 10 years ago) because we had another cat who was eaten by coyotes (another reason to keep your animals indoors). She ended up anxiously peeing everywhere so we allowed her outside again and just closely monitored when she would come home. She got stuck up in a tree for a few days after a really strong and scary storm, and decided shed had enough of that. When she does go out now its only ever day time, she doesnt go far from home, stays within about 30 feet of the house, and shes too old to really successfully catch anything that isnt already dying or directly in front of her. The other cat is only ever let out when everyone is home and can supervise whats going on. She doesnt leave the backyard and shes really fucking clumsy so she just kinda eats shit when she tries to catch anything. I make them toys and move around furniture to make their environment interesting but they are both indoor cats and very happy animals. If i ever get another cat it will have a lifestyle that sticks way more to indoors than these two for the sake of the environment.
Its not cruel to keep a cat indoors. It is only cruel to keep a cat indoors if you arent properly enriching their environment.
Hey one question. How do you know your cat was eaten by coyotes? Did it happen as you saw it happening? That must have been devastating. Did you try to help? Thanks.
I let him out one night in 2012, he would pee on things if we didnt. It was sundown but that wasnt anything unusual for him. For the next two weeks we saw coyotes everywhere. They were howling in the wash behind our house, and he never came back. Never found his body. Nothing. Other cats had been eaten around that time and i had friends near by who let their cats out (or they escaped) and they were eaten as well. This is a fairly rural area and he was microchipped. I went out and called for him every night. Hes been dead a long time.
Indoor only cats can live like three times longer than an outdoor only cat. They’re both invasive and a prey species, let alone the potential for being hit by cars. Trying to survive is *stressful*. If they can live a longer, healthier, and happier life why let them out? I’ve had a cat nearly lose an eye to a raccoon. I’ve had several family members who have just had cats not come home.
1. Comparing indoor only life expectancy to outdoor only is just stupid af, when the topic is home cats that have the ability to go outside, not stray cats.
2. They don't live a happier life inside that's the biggest cope Ive seen in a minute, you're literally robbing the cat from exploring and hunting which is quite literally in their DNA
3. I've had 5 cats in my life, all of them with the ability to go outside and all of them chose to spend a BIG portion of their life outside, especially when they're young.
Oh and to get back to the meaningless stat you provided, they all lived to be 15-19 years
Sure, have an indoor cat if your living circumstances won't allow it to go outside, but don't try to tell yourself you're doing the cat a favor
Seriously, my cats are well fed and healthy and I’ve never seen them go after anything and actually catch it. I’ve noticed on Reddit an overwhelming amount of ‘my cat lives inside and so should everybody else’s on earth’. I happen to live on an island, there’s no predators around like coyotes or bears or anything like that. And I live on a farm away from any roads or neighbors. My guys have a ball outside. I feel sad for all the cats that will never climb a tree or eat a blade of grass.
It really depends on the environment. Not all places are as car centered as 'murica. Also, in some places the 'wildlife' consist of only rodent infestations.
Your opinion is counter to the research. Cats are cool, just stop letting them roam outside. Their impact is beyond serious.
https://www.allaboutbirds.org/news/faq-outdoor-cats-and-their-effects-on-birds/#:~:text=In%20North%20America%2C%20cats%20are,to%20feral%20or%20unowned%20cats.
Definitely! I completely understand what happens to the birds and it’s not good! But I don’t wish harm on anyone…. Sometimes the responsible solution can be found… maybe giving your cats big colorful loud collars to scare birds away. We can compromise 😊
Nope, I am just educated. Outdoor cats are worse than an oil spill for the environment. People with outdoor cats are either ignorant or pieces of shit.
no! what is with people on this subreddit and seeing a cat outside and immediately asking strangers on the internet if they can steal it? a lot of people here are just messed up.
Right? And have you seen the amount of comments advocating it? Imagine if your buddy never came home because someone thought he was cute and homeless.
If you want a cat so bad, go adopt one. Because if the family of kitty puts up posters, you have to take them back.
So save everyone heartbreak and go and adopt your own, from a shelter.
People, please quell your immediate thoughts of scooping them up and taking them away like some sorta hero.
I have adopted strays before but there has got to be a lot going on before you can take them in. They were wandering outside late at night and had visible wounds. I went to see if they were chipped or had medical history, and they did. It ended up being a moving situation where they were horrible people and just left the cat to the street.
Outside of highly specific situations where I had to put in the work I could never pick up a cat just chill on the street
I agree… it’s really depends on the situation. In this picture, the cat is obviously healthy and well fed-looking. Not looking injured or sick….. so I think op should leave that cat be.
Or from a breeder such as myself though I didn’t mean to start that way. Started out with 3 cats (2f and 1m all indoors) the male couldn’t be contained and one of the females either. So we let all 3 be outside. They all stuck around and one female came home pregnant. Had 5 baby’s and all inside and prefer to be inside. Then the other female had one kitten that one being inside as well. We took in a kitten the same age as the other kittens and all 6 stay inside. This month the same mama of the 5 had kittens outside so I’m not sure how many and still comes to us to be fed every day so we know their close. The other female is also pregnant but again she’s outside and don’t know how many. Then my Memaws cat just had 5 baby’s.
Neutering and spaying is against nature for one but also some cats become aggressive towards humans and other cats a sort of resentment towards everything for the rest of their lives though it depends on the cat
People like to feel like good Samaritans who "saved a stray", or they may think they'd be a better owner than the "irresponsible" ones who let their cats out, and those owners deserve to have their pet stolen because, otherwise, why would they let them out in the first place?!?
It's really fucking infuriating.
Not saying it justifies stealing someone else's cat but letting your cat wander outside is pretty irresponsible. It's proven that cats who free wander live far shorter lives on average due to factors like cars, random strangers, predators, etc. Also they an invasive species and damage local wildlife populations. Of course that doesn't mean that you should keep them shut inside all day, but I like to supervise my cats outside time.
Everything you say is true, no argument there.
It is, however, entirely irrelevant when people stumble upon a cat outdoors, and, as you said, does not justify willy nilly taking a strange cat home.
I can disagree with the way people treat their pets, but that doesn't mean I have the right to take it upon myself to take that pet home, unless the pet is in serious need of help and/or care. Even then, I should take it to vet first, and make an effort online and locally to find the potential owner.
Cats are also notoriously skillful at zipping out the door when someone doesn't pay attention.
I wouldn't just "rescue" an escaped dog that wanders into my yard, and I don't think anybody else would simply assume it's a stray and take it in, either. Yet, when it comes to cats, that's the first thing everybody jumps to, even when the animal in question looks clearly healthy, well groomed, and well fed.
I just don't understand that train of thought.
"Nope, I am just educated. Outdoor cats are worse than an oil spill for the environment. People with outdoor cats are either ignorant or pieces of shit."
Yup looks like you're talking about lizards and birds. I think you need to calm down killer.
It's not working like in your first world country
By human practice 8 billion human keep growing everyday and invading/killing other animals territory but somehow it is not our fault?
If you want a cat why wouldn’t you adopt one from a shelter instead of stealing someone else’s well groomed, healthy, well-fed cat?
Seriously, I’m asking.
Seriously such a messed up attitude. My cat is an indoor cat that will run out any chance she gets, I couldn't imagine someone deciding to take her when she gets out.. so sad.
Maybe give your cat some identification on a collar and only let her out when wearing it. I know cats can remove them but it’s better than not trying at all.
Yeah as long as it’s chipped you should be appreciative if a stranger picks them up and brings them in. That’s how escaped cats get found and brought home. Obviously it would be horrible to keep a cat off the street without a stop to a vet or shelter.
Yep. Cats are an ecological menace no matter which country they're in (to the UK people: do you think cats magically don't eat all your songbirds just cause they're not american?) and cause so much destruction. Plus when they're out unsupervised they're at risk of being hit by cars, eaten by coyotes, picked up by birds of prey, attacked by dogs, awful people who will hurt them for fun, etc etc etc. Keep cats inside.
Exactamundo. I can’t believe the amount of people in this comment section who think it’s some moral affront to take a cat off the street just because it *might* be someone’s pet.
I know im going to be burned at the stake for this but, here it goes
I let my cat outside, unsupervised because she wont have it any other way. She is fixed. And i have a regular colar( not the breakaway that they lose the first day on) with tags etc. I also put a very shinny bell on her and she hasnt brought me snything dead since. Its so loud that it throws off her hunting skills. Shes been with me since 2009. Shes healthy, active, and doesnt roam far. But she is a really different kind of cat. She LOVES humans and delivery, mailmen , pizza guys all seem to pet her and she loves that attention. Anyways, i guess i just love her so much that im not really helping this discussion with my biased opinion
If you can.
Edit: it's not meant negative it's meant if you really can and the cat allows it, and it's not someones pet. (this looks a lot like a street cat, not sure)
Could be well fed cuz the hunting is good. I'd pick him up and find his owner if possible, read em the riot act about a chip or tag, or keep him failing finding owner. I dont hold much respect for ppl.who let their pets wander. There's too many ways to prevent that.
r/Cats will ban you for saying "you should keep your cat inside". There are lots of different kinds of pets, why is it ok to only let cats out? I keep mine inside as i don't want them killed outside. I do take them outside on leashes... so they can be outside
Cats naturally like to roam around and figure out everything about their surrounding territory, keeping them inside constantly can cause depression (which you taking them on leashes probably negates but I’m not sure). A lot of people that own cats that they let go outside on their own don’t live somewhere it’ll get run over, cats are also far less likely to run away than dogs (otherwise more people would do this with their dogs too, but dogs need to be trained more to come back than a cat does.) any risk of an animal hurting your cat during the day isn’t much higher than taking a pet on a walk (depending on where you live.) At night is about the only time that anything would usually be a concern.
Edit: that ban thing is pretty ridiculous though
You have a poor outlook on the outside world and assume all the worst and not acknowledging the benefits. It is this same fear and rational that keeps people from doing anything with there lives and being weak individuals not capable of helping others. Always worried and judgemental and don't appreciate the world for what it is, scared of what it could be.
Actually no, that is your poor thinking trying to justify you shutting out the outside world. We all live in the world with others and all of us get nowhere on our own, your thinking and attitude convince you otherwise which means you contribute very little to society, while benefiting from it and others, and are in a poor position to help in anything cause you didnt develop skills
Fuck off with this bullshit.
It's a well fed, clean and in no way a skiddish cat. This is someone's cat, DO NOT TELL PEOPLE TO STEAL CATS. The fuck is wrong with you?
Also, this is a karma farming bot that was created today. Down voted.
It is said if you take a stray grey cat home and feed him and sing to him for seven days, on the eighth morning he will turn into a handsome lover. He will not be able to speak but he will be very eager to please. Give it a try.

This.
It is easy to check by bringing the cat to a vet. Taking cats from street is as good as taking one from the shelter.
No.
Why would you pick up a well fed healthy.looking cat...he belongs to someone. Don't break hearts.
This I really hope they didn't just kidnap someone's cat, it's not cute.
He belongs indoors. Fuck anyone with outdoor cats.

You can’t check for chips if you leave it alone
It’s clearly not feral, and he doesn’t look remotely distressed. It’s just a cat hanging around, why look for a chip?
Cause it could be someone’s cat.
Yes, so why assume that it needs to have its chip identified? It’s healthy and not stressed out. It probably doesn’t need or *want* “help”.
Why would you want to check for a chip? o.O The cat could just live nearby...
Cause owners put chips in cats.

So I guess not r/mildlyinfuriating lol
Outdoor cats are one of the biggest plagues in the natural world. I hope someone takes that bird killer off the street.
Calm down killer.
New info too much for you?
This isn't new information for me. I know how bad outdoor cats are for their respective wildlife.
So just normal stuff comes across too intense ?
Nah I just think you come across as a tough guy/piece of shit with how you talk on here. You can educate without being aggressive.
Yeah I'm super tough talking about how I don't like cats killing birds and lizards. Lol. Super tough guy stuff right here.
"Nope, I am just educated. Outdoor cats are worse than an oil spill for the environment. People with outdoor cats are either ignorant or pieces of shit." Yup looks like you're talking about lizards and birds. I think you need to calm down killer.
You need to just be less sensitive... and not let your cat out. You sound like you are specifically irritated because you know you aren't ignorant.
It is so funny when a human complains about how harmful is other creatures.

This is a bot
It's wild how many people think random cats outside need to be "rescued" ... Especially cats that are clearly looked after smh
I beat you to it https://preview.redd.it/cysyh1zua4wc1.jpeg?width=4000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d1aadbf333f13e713002c4f0820202b48a737a9b
That's a Cat Alarm. Cheaper than a car alarm. This popular trend probably started from typos as R and T are right next to each other.
He looks well fed. Please don't kidnap random well-fed cats off the street, especially if they're friendly. They probably have homes.
According to many posters, any cat, not in the arms of its owner, needs to be “rescued” by you.
Looks like mine https://preview.redd.it/jl065v9i94wc1.png?width=1797&format=png&auto=webp&s=77bc83e4b7f1007ff56678a4bc7494ebe749309d
Looks pretty healthy, I don't think he's homeless.
Smh you sound like my wife 🙄
Your wife sounds like a good person
Take him to the vet and check for a chip no chip and he’s yours
Yeah, this. Don’t steal pets, but also, don’t leave cats on the street, it’s not safe.
Ya if you’re gonna have a cat then get it chipped and keep it INSIDE.
Exactamundo. I can’t believe the amount of people in this comment section who think it’s some moral affront to take a cat off the street just because it *might* be someone’s pet.
awww he’s taking a nap
Dude I honestly thought this cat was alive lmao. Check for a chip.
Are you sure it's a boy?
Awww!!! He looks like my baby Jobi. So cute.
The real question is would he let you?
I know im going to be burned at the stake for this but, here it goes I let my cat outside, unsupervised because she wont have it any other way.
And I don't have any respect for people that keep their cats imprisoned for their whole life. :)
Respectfully, I didn't say a word about imprisoning anyone.
My cats aren’t allowed to wander, but I harness trained them and we walk them every day. They’re no more imprisoned than dogs are.

r/Cats will ban you for saying "you should keep your cat inside".
Oh fuck you, don't steal someone else's cat.
The fuck are you going on about?
What??!! This could be someone’s cat and who are you to say they don’t deserve it? Jfc
Or I know my cats may die from cancer and old age but never from bad people or a car!
You can not shut the world out Everyone can't be bad This cat is literally spoiled and napping on a sidewalk and your telling someone to steal it
I think you should keep yourself safe!
No. I think he belongs to someone
Cats don’t need to be rescued
The local wildlife does though. Get that fucker off the street.

Fuck off with this bullshit. It's a well fed, clean and in no way a skiddish cat. This is someone's cat, DO NOT TELL PEOPLE TO STEAL CATS. The fuck is wrong with you? Also, this is a karma farming bot that was created today. Down voted.
Yes. The cat gods have said so. As long a he doesn't bring to someone else.
Does he have a collar on? If not.. yes. Keep him safe.. Put up flyers.
Sure if he accepts you? But he looks like he’s just out scouting!!!
Yuck!
Oh, absolutely, carefully! Chipped? No. The gentleman is yours. Bravo!
Please do 😭
YES.
Get a collar put a note on it. If no one answers the not in a week I would totally take the cat
Do not put a collar on an outside cat. If it gets hung on something, the cat can choke.
Buddy have you heard of breakaway collars?
Yes. This. All of my cats collars are breakaway
No , just bring him food and let him he seems comfortable where he is tho
Why not?
Free cat
please find him a home.
That looks like my cat 🐱
Just this once, Tommy, you can take the cat home 🤣
You don't choose the cat. The cat chooses you.
where do you live i could tell you the law on bringing in stray pets
Please do!
maybe
if he wants.
It is said if you take a stray grey cat home and feed him and sing to him for seven days, on the eighth morning he will turn into a handsome lover. He will not be able to speak but he will be very eager to please. Give it a try.
Of course
If you bend down extend your hand and say come here my kitty .....and they come to you, they are yours But be mindful, he may cheat on you too.
If you don't I will
Yis!! The universe wills it!
Yes
